During the big storms this winter I had a tree in my backyard fall towards SMUD's lines that go through my yard. The Grove was very responsive and came out within a few days, even with all of the craziness of the storms. They removed that tree, and then came back later in the month and removed the other trees I no longer wanted in my yard and ground the stumps - all done very thoroughly and efficiently. When I went in the backyard after it was done, I could hardly even tell there had been trees there because they did a great job cleaning up. We have many trees on our property and we were concerned about limb failure with some of the trees near our house. Paul came and provided an informative consultation to help us decide what to trim/remove. He was detailed and even came out with the foreman the day of the job to ensure they knew exactly what to cut. Worst customer service I've experienced in a long, long time! I found this company through Carson Landscape Industries | The Grove | TurfPro. My initial contact was very professional as where all my conversations with the arborist Paul. Sadly though, talk is cheap and Paul's words and what he actually delivered could not have been further apart. In my first conversation with Paul I expressed to him very clearly that I had a stump that I needed ground and that I had a very small window of time to get it completed. We agreed on a day and Paul said he would email me a proposal no later than Monday to sign and return. I waited and waited and receives no email. I called Paul twice on that Monday, he never responded. Tuesday mid. morning I received a call from Carrie at Carson Landscape Industries | The Grove | TurfPro stating that the email Paul took from me was incorrect. By this point due to my time constraints, I had already contacted another tree service to complete the job but I told Carrie to go ahead and send the proposal just in case the new tree service flaked on me which they did. So I fill out the proposal and emailed it back straight away. I then called Paul twice and had to leave a message each time. I then called Carrie again and spoke to her, she contacted Paul who called me and we set up a date and time for Wednesday morning at around 7:00-7:30am. I texted him a coupe of questions which he responded to. Everything appeared all set ( all the while I have repeatedly expressed the small window of time I was working with ) and then Wednesday morning at 6:27am I get this text message. Good morning Jeff, unfortunately I do not have a machine available or a man available today to come out, my grinders are still in repair and I have crew men out, let me know if I can come out tomorrow And here was my response: Seriously, I told the other guy who offered to come out this morning that you where coming out today. I'm feeling really screwed over by you and your company and will defiantly be leaving a very large negative review about you and your company on YELP! I own my own small business and I have never and would never treat a customer the way I've been treated by Paul. You should not make promises or accept work that you are not prepared to follow through on, on the day and time you agreed to. Not sure how he gets any work at all! Lastly I will say that I was able to contact Doug Peterson tree service ( the guy I canceled on when I thought Paul and I had an agreement ) and he was gracious enough to come out Wednesday and grind the stump. I was so grateful for Mr. Peterson's quick and professional response ( especially after canceling on him just the day before ) that I paid him an extra $75.00 over his regular charge for the job which by the way was cheaper than the quote from Paul. read more

These guys are great. They were able to come over the same day (after finishing another job in the area) to cut down a very high, large branch of an elm tree that had partially broken off and was threatening an outbuilding. They were courteous, very mindful of safety and cleaned up after themselves. I will call them back in the fall when it comes time to prune all the trees. read more

I'm a homeowner and I have two trees in my front yard that needed to be trimmed. I've had mixed experiences in the past with other tree trimming companies so this time around I decided to get quotes from several. The arborist that came out from the Grove gave me sound information about my trees and how to trim them. He also provided the best quote by far so I went with them. On the day of the work, when the crew arrived I repeated what I told the arborist which is that I didn't want too much trimmed from the interior of the trees. So that there'd continue to be enough branches and shade on my house. The crew was easy to work with and did the work based on my request. The lead member of the crew was clearly experienced and provided some insights into the trees I have (bradford pears). The crew worked faster than expected since they had a crane to position the trimmers in high places quickly. (Past companies didn't have a crane and their trimmers actually climbed the trees to do the work; probably why previous jobs took longer and cost more.) In the end I was very happy with the work. JonPaul took the time to actually listen to what I wanted, then he educated me on the characteristics of the trees and made helpful suggestions. His crew then carefully pruned back and re-shaped the trees and made them look really beautiful. My neighbor had the grove come trim a tree that was hanging from my property over their fence. Had I known, I would have prepared better for them to have space. They worked in my driveway and when they left, they cleaned the entire area so well. I wasn't around to see them go and thank them, so I wanted to leave a review! Paul was an excellent salesman and promised he would do what we requested and we would be happy. 1/2 way into the Grove 1st day on job we called Paul and told him his crew was not reducing tree sizes like we wanted. Paul argued with us saying he knows how to trim the trees. In short they barely trimmed anything and are demanding full payment. Now we have to hire another tree company to follow up after the Grove and clean up their mess. read more

The Grove is great, unless you want them to do what you paid them to do. I hired them to cut down a dead tree in my back yard. They were to arrive at 12:30 pm. At 2:30 I could wait no longer and had to leave (I left a personal check for the in the back yard). When I returned home later that night I was in shock; it looked like someone had dropped off tree cuttings all over my .25 acre lot without rhyme or reason. They Grove had cut and left sections of tree limbs that were 6 feet in circumference in my yard, one of which was 19' long!!!!. Amateurs would have done a better job. To make matters worse, they took a bike out of my storage and rode around on it in the back yard and used my ladders (which, of course, they left strewn in my yard). It took me over a month of scheduling and negotiating to get them to come back and cut the giant logs they had left in their wake. After I had paid them $540.00, I received an additional invoice a month later for $30.00. I called and, after explaining what had happened, the woman I spoke to told me that the $30.00 would not be charged. Not 30 minutes after that, Matt Fornier (the representative who scheduled the trimming) called me and told me that I owed the $30.00. If anyone would like to see pictures of their work, please email me and I will send them to you. Honestly, the pictures will show you what to expect if you hire the Grove. Then they truly have no shame. Are proud of the unprofessional job their employees did (except for the employee who came back a month later to cut up the giant logs they left initially; he did a very good job)? Are they are proud of being an hour and a half late? Are they are proud of their employees taking my friends bike out and riding it in my yard? Or are they proud of the enormous mess they left in their wake? Are they also proud of taking a paying customer to collections even though we had no signed contract, and the verbal contract we did have was for $540.00 (which I left for them in my yard prior to them doing any work at all because they were an hour and a half late). As for not being able to afford the removal of the wood: A) I didn't need their help and based on the job they did, I clearly made the right decision there; and B) one of Turf Pro's owners (a subsidiary of Carson Landscape Industries) used to rent this house from me. I called these guys on such a short notice I didn't think they would even come out to our place. The tree in front of our yard caused blockage on our sewage system. The roots enveloped the pipes, therefore we need professionals to dig thru the roots and actually take the whole tree out. It was so sad because the tree provides shade and it looked very nice facing the frontyard. Unfortunately, it was either the tree or clogged sewage system. The tree was planted right above the pipes and the roots had caused clogging. I called several tree service professionals, most of them came the same day I called, gave reasonable estimates but could not promise how soon they would be able to get the job done. So I saw The Grove and called, Jon picked up, he said he can have somebody inspect the area right then and there. In short, the same day I called, Jon's crew came and gave an estimate on how much it would cost and he said his crew can do it the next day. We agreed and following day, the tree is being chomped off, grinding stump and all that, giving room for the plumbers to clean out the pipes. I was very happy because they got the job done right away at a reasonable price. I will recommend them to my friends and family. Two thumbs up! read more

We hired them to remove dead branches from out London plane tree. They did a more thorough pruning then we expected, for the bid price. Their price was less than half the next cheapest bid (we had four bids). They were very busy this fall but called a week ahead of time to let us know when they were coming. They came on time--actually a little early. There was no damage to our property or the neighbor's. The clean up was excellent--you couldn't tell that they had been there except the tree looked great. They cut the larger limbs into wood-stove length for us. The crew was friendly and professional. I had inquired about having 3 trees pruned that have been neglected for years, I needed them cleaned up real bad. I had an appointment set to meet with Matt and he showed up early which was great for me as I was trying to leave town on buisness's. Working with Matt was a pleasent experience and I agreed to the work and budget he created for me. The crew that came out to my home was great to work with they communicated to me what they were doing and asked if there was anything else I needed done. Overall the trees look great and I plan to have Matt and The Grove out for my annual pruning, I highly recommend The Grove to anyone who needs propt and quality work done in their yard. When Paul came out, we showed him the roots that were burrowing under the front and back of our house. We talked at length about how best to deal with them. He did say this was his busy season and we were willing to wait. When he called and said he would have a crew nearby and could take care of them, we were more than ready. Roberto came right when he said he would be there and he (he was by himself) did a fantastic job of getting all the roots that were threatening our concrete. He walked the property with us as we pointed out the ones we were concerned about and he pointed out others we had not noticed. He eliminated them all without any impact on our landscaping in the front or the back. Then, he asked us to walk the property with him again to ensure we were happy. He was absolutely terrific and we would definitely call use him again! The price was reasonable and we can honestly say we definitely recommend their services. Great job!!! read more

I have two large trees in my front yard that I have trimmed every few years and I have used several different companies over the past thirty years that I have lived in my home. Last week I had The Grove Total Tree Care come to my house to trim the trees. The workers called me a half hour before arriving at my house so I had the opportunity to go home. The workers arrived right on time. I pointed out a few little special things I wanted done. I stayed home for awhile to watch them work then I left to go back to work. When I got home, I was so amazed at the fabulous job that they had done. Never Ever before have my trees looked as good as they do now thanks to the wonderful job that they did. Everything was perfectly cleaned up and the workers had been so nice and polite. If you are looking for a good professional company to trim trees, The Grove is the company to call.
