We recently decided to have our flooring redone in the whole house and decided to go to M&D after many positive recommendations. Matt was very informative and helpful in explaining all options for laminate flooring and carpeting. His installation crew ran by Billy, very cool guy, were extremely professional, clean, diligent and respectful in our home. They found a way to hide my massive bundle of electronic's wire/cable to where it's completely hidden. There was an incident where one small computer wire was accidentally cut and was afraid I would have to run a new one, yet his crew was able to repair it in minutes. They also moved all furniture several times back and forth to facilitate flooring installation. Was extremely happy with price, quality of material and installation not to mention clean up. 5 stars literally aren't enough for these folks. I did the whole "get multiple quotes" thing to replace every square inch of flooring in my pretty large two-story home. I'm gonna start right now and say they were not the cheapest. Not by a decent amount. But I treat selecting a contractor more like a job interview than a lowest bidder contest. And let me tell you, there is a VERY good reason that these guys charge a premium. The whole thing kicked off with a very accommodating tour through their offices with Ken. He talked us through the different types of floor materials, walked us through the different options they have, helped us pull out samples and sent us home with them. He even made a special trip to the office to accommodate our schedule for all this. We got a preliminary estimate from him, which was all inclusive but itemized in a very granular way. He told me anything that changed - either increasing or decreasing - would impact only the one line item and there would be total transparency with the final invoice. After a few weeks, the project lead Jesus visited our home and walked through to make sure the scope was all understood and correct. He was kind, respectful, professional to a T. He and his crew had no issues with our request to mask up when inside, and stayed true to their promise to do so. On project kickoff day, they arrived precisely on time and did the specific demolition work I requested up front to accommodate another builder working on another related project. They worked SO clean - protecting every surface, every wall. Cleaning everything they touched, to a really above-and-beyond level, like wrapping my front door handle in tape so they didn't scratch it, putting fresh blue tape on their kneepads every day, constant vacuuming, liberal use of protective barriers, etc. The crew was even fun to be around - I was apprehensive about being alone in my house with 4 total strangers for two weeks but honestly now that they're gone I kinda miss them. We had pleasant conversations when appropriate (I tried to stay out of their way as much as I could) and they had great taste in music. I think the singalongs were my favorite part. You can tell when folks are happy and well taken care of in their jobs and clearly this was a satisfied crew. At the end of the day, they were cool to be around, did a better than expected job, their workmanship was top notch, they finished a day early, arrived every day exactly on time (like, standing on the driveway waiting for the minute hand to tick over before knocking or something, it's uncanny), and came in under budget. That should be all the review you need! We love our new floors and if you go with anyone else, you're taking your chances. These guys are the loaded dice of flooring. I got to experience amazing and superior customer service with Ken. I was in a jam and called several flooring companies and found M&D Flooring and spoke to Ken. I spoke to him at 5:15pm and he arrived at my house at 5:45pm to give me a free estimate to install laminated vinyl tiles. He was also honest and his quote was very reasonable! As bad as I thought the whole experience was a year ago I could not have been prepared for the fact that their epic laziness and ineptitude would lead to having to install totally new floors. M&D came to my house and saw my bare concrete slab that had a few sizable chips in it. Do we need to fill these I asked? No they insisted, won't be a problem. OMG just add this to the disaster leaning tower of pisa of lies they've already given me. In all the areas where there were chips or holes my tiles have cracked and broken. The whole $10,000 job looks so awful. We are going to have to do it all again. If there were no other businesses other than M&D left in the entire area to do my floors I'd rather leave it with bare slab than trust these horrible crooks. We came to M&D based on a referral from a friend. The location isn't as close as most other stores, but as it turns out, it was worth the drive. Danielle helped us select our flooring, and offered useful suggestions. We changed over from wood flooring to laminate, and increased our solid flooring (took out the hallway carpet). That was a bit of a debate between my wife and I l, but really turned out nice. We put carpet back into the bedrooms, and had new baseboards installed. Next came installation, and that is where we met M&D's best kept secret: Bryan. He did the installation, and that guy is an artist. We had some funky corners and joints that he made look just right. Do not use! It took me 3.5 weeks to get a quote when I was told it would be 2-3 days. I had to contact Ken a dozen times before I finally received my quote. I only received a quote after I called and spoke to the owner. I used M&D about a year and a half ago for laminate on my previous house. I was happy so I called them again. I also referred my Mom who had a consult a couple days after me and still no estimate for her so you know this is not an isolated incident. If they are that busy they shouldn't tell a customer it'll be 2-3 days. They wasted my time. Bad customer service! read more

I will never set foot in this building as long as vern still owns it. vern is the worst person I have ever, ever dealt with in any company ever! To get this POS to do anything you basically have to drag him by his ear. I've had the displeasure of dealing with him on 2 different occasions and he is the flakiest person I've ever met. It's always "I'm coming by around 6 tonight" or "I'll do it tomorrow" many, many times but he never comes, never calls, nothing. There were a couple of MONTHS that I was trying to get a hold of him and he would always be "with another customer" so I left countless messages with the work number and his cell phone but never got back to me. He also went on vacation during that time instead of doing his damn job! Needless to say he never did the work that he was supposed to do and I had someone else that doesn't work for this sht show do it. If anybody goes to M&D Carpets and you hear the name vern back there, do yourself a huge favor and walk out the door immediately. Scheduled M&D for full home carpet and new vinyl in my Laundry Room. Had scheduled for carpet and vinyl to be pulled out on Tues morning at 10am (my neighbor was going to let them in the house early that morning as I couldn't arrive until 11am.) I called early on Tues and asked that they wait to pull the old vinyl until I arrived at the house in approx 45 min. I was told they would tell the vinyl guy to NOT pull up the old vinyl. I called 2 more times in the next 30 min to ensure this was clear because I was having second thoughts on the new vinyl. I spoke with 2 people in the office and both assured me the vinyl guy was alerted. When I arrived at the house... to my SURPRISE, they had already pulled up all the carpet on MONDAY (without my permission). They had told my next door neighbor that I had said it was okay... I NEVER even spoke of them coming on Monday! Also, to my SURPRISE, the vinyl guy had just finished pulling up the old viynl. When I questioned him, he said he never received any calls from the office. He showed me his phone and there were no missed calls in the past hour. I called the office. They continued to lie to me saying they had tried to reach the vinyl guy... until I told them that I was looking at his cellphone and there were no missed calls... then their story changed to "oh... well... we were busy...". When I specifically accused them of directly lying to me, they said "you need to speak to the boss". Unbelievable! Not only was the vinyl pulled up, but they had come into my house without permission the day prior. Not only that, but while pulling up the carpet, they had significantly chipped a tile in my entrance. 2"x1" chip. Not only that, but I had a BRAND NEW carpet in one room that they were suppose to leave with me... they had pulled it up and took it to the dump. I told the vinyl guy to leave (although he seemed like the only one who had done nothing wrong) and I needed to talk to the owner, Vern. Vern came over 6 hours later and aplogized for taking the carpet out without my approval, for getting rid of my new carpet that he clearly admitted was suppose to be left, and said he would have someone come by and fix the chipped tile. To this day.... I have never heard from Vern or M&D again. I called them 4 times. They never came to fix the tile. They never came to take the old carpet/padding they left in my garage away. They never gave me my new carpet back. They admitted they lied to me but said, "that doesn't normally happen at M&D". I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. There are many other flooring companies out there with integrity and honesty. read more

The first time I used M & D Carpet, I had gotten screwed, and here we are again. The first time I had lino laid down in my kitchen at my old house. After 3 months had passed and may phone calls to M & D I gave up on them finishing my flooring. A kitchen floor with lino should only take a maximum of 2 days, if that, to complete. So after 6 months had passed, I had finally gotten a call they they wanted to come and finish the base boards. I told the guy to forget it, I had already hired someone else to finish the job. Well, here I am again, about 10 years later, I'm getting screwed. Not realizing what the name of the business was (because the store sign out front is missing), the guy that was going to have install my flooring in my new house, told me to go to the carpet place on Eubanks Drive in Vacaville, because they had plenty of flooring material in stock and I could pick out what I wanted right there. After visiting the showroom this time, I didn't realize that this was the same business because I had not gone to the showroom last time, I was brought samples to my home. So what I'm dealing with this time is having a brand new carpet (bought and paid for in advance, yeah my big mistake for trusting them) installed in one room that looks as though it had been sitting in the warehouse for 40 years, no joke. The carpet on both sides is completely faded AND about every six feet of the carpet, there is a thick dark line going across the carpet horizontally. So I'm being told by the owner, Vern, that anyone knows that carpet needs to be trimmed a few inches off each side and sometimes you just need to have new carpets steam cleaned to get those lines out. NOT!!! So now I have tenants in my house and it's too late to have it pulled out and replaced. I will never deal with M & D again because they know nothing about customer satisfaction and how not to screw their customers! I also have a scrap piece of carpet at my preschool, so when my clients ask me about who to go for flooring, I show them the piece of carpet that I paid for, and that lets them know that they do not want to hassle with M & D Carpet! We were long time customers, and loved working with Rick. But owner Vern is dead, owner Rick is fired??? We had a horrible experience where they installed the wrong material, we tried to stop the install, long story she agreed to remove the material and only refund $2,000 of the $4,000 cash we paid up front. Before releasing the $2,000 partial refund, she demands that I sign a satisfaction release letter and when I refused she says "I'm going to videotape you refusing to sign" and we asked her 3 times to leave. I'm very sad to have to give such a negative review but I have never had a good experience with this company. The second time I should have learned but I wanted to give them another chance. We had carpet installed in two rooms. I received a call that there was a misquote with the carpet I picked out but that they could give me a comparable carpet for the price quoted originally. I agreed (unfortunately) and had the carpet installed. After a year and a half it started to ripple. It continued to get worse. We had a lot going on in life, family deaths and weddings, and I finally got around to calling but 4 years after installation. I called 5 times and each time was told I would get a call back but didn't. Then I called again and this time spoke with an owner who said they would be willing to come out and look at it and stretch it and he would get back to me. I never received another call and at this point I'm giving up. I should have learned with my first bad experience. This carpet is junk and we will probably end up ripping it out and putting inaminate. I never intended to spend $2000 on carpet that would last 3-4 years. After two very bad experiences I am afraid I would never be able to recommend this company to anyone. read more
