When I asked questions about their findings, I was met with rude and dismissive responses, so I decided not to move forward with any repairs. A couple of days later, I noticed fluid leaking onto my driveway and took my truck to another mechanic for a second opinion. They confirmed my brakes and rotors were in mid/good condition, and the brake noise was simply due to the type of brake pads and dirt. They also found that the rear differential bolt had not been fully tightened, which was the cause of the leak. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Excel Diesel & SUV. I was disappointed with both the customer service and the inaccurate repair recommendations, especially after paying a fee just to have the brakes inspected.

They referred us to the Kia dealer, which I knew would be very expensive. So I did some research online and found Franklynn Automotive. I called and described the situation to Steve. He said they likely can handle it, but would start with a complimentary second opinion. After their inspection, they determined that the hose does not need to be replaced and we only needed to refresh the refrigerant, which they do have the equipment for. In addition, the reason the other shop might have suggested the hose replacement was because of a leak related to the axel. All in, the repairs would be substantially less than the dealer quote for work that may not have been needed in the first place. Overall, great experience with Franklynn.
