On March 4, 2026, I drove my 2007 RAV4 to Sal's Auto Tech for a simple battery and alternator replacement. My car is my lifeline and income source, and at the time, my temporary home. I called the shop that morning; Audrey was friendly but told me I'd need to bring the car in for an estimate. I arrived around 10 AM, waited an hour in the office, then the mechanic took me to the shop -- my car was already lifted on the hoist. Instead of focusing on my simple request, the mechanic spent hours inspecting tires, brakes, suspension, and the underside, ignoring me repeatedly. I eventually asked about the price for the battery and alternator. The mechanic acted offended, and another employee quoted $1,700. and they installed them, but during the process broke my radiator. Then I was told a piece of my radiator had been broken by their mechanic. They said it could be fixed the next morning. I asked if I could stay in the parking lot safely overnight -- they refused. When I requested my property back, they called the police and had me trespassed. I was humiliated, scared, and forced to drive 7 miles to a Walmart parking lot to sleep safely. The next morning, I towed my car back to the shop ($190). I met with Sal, gave him the broken radiator piece, and he was rude, dismissive, and baffled that their mechanics had broken it. He told me I was trespassed and could not stay near the property. Even after two days, the radiator was still not properly repaired -- just topped off. On March 6, they sent me a handwritten note falsely blaming me for radiator damage. The accusations were completely false and misleading, adding stress on top of an already humiliating situation. I drove 10 miles to Denver, and the temperature gauge went immediately red. I went straight to Jiffy Lube, where within five minutes, they discovered the lower radiator hose had never been connected, spilling coolant everywhere. They fixed it promptly, refilled the radiator, and confirmed my car was safe. During this entire ordeal, I lost income every day, was ignored, dismissed, and gaslit, and experienced fear and humiliation from being trespassed and blamed. The shop clearly took their time because they knew I couldn't confront them on-site, and their attitude made it clear they found my distress amusing. My experience was not just bad service -- it was emotionally traumafinancially damaging, and completely unprofessional. If you rely on your car for work, safety, or even basic transportation, do not go to Sal's Auto Tech. They broke my property, refused to take responsibility, involved the police unnecessarily, and left me stranded. I cannot overstate the stress, fear, and frustration I endured. Honest, competent mechanics at Jiffy Lube resolved the issue in minutes -- something Sal's could have done immediately. Avoid this shop entirely.

They allowed us time to decide if it was worth fixing and were creative about getting the costs to something more affordable but ultimately I agreed to have all but one item fixed. Their willingness to work with me on it really sealed the deal. I never felt pressured one way or the other and researched the prices of each repair item and they were market value. I really appreciated that I wasn't given grief for wanting to fix this old beauty instead of calling it quits and also appreciated their confidence in doing this amount of work to make it like new. Most importantly, the repairs were done right without gimmick and they're under warranty! This Christian Brothers Automotive is thorough and the final cost was reasonable compared to the quote (slight increase from what looks like parts being a tad more than anticipated). The initial inspection was awesome too, they have pictures for everything and tell you what's good, not just bad. The whole process was really smooth and simple compared to how big of a decision the repairs really were. Very professional and quick. I'm very thankful and will come back/recommend to others.

Afterward, I was told the car had multiple oil and coolant leaks and was quoted an additional $3,500 for repairs. On a car worth about $4,000, this didn't make financial sense. When I declined the extensive repairs, there was no discussion of smaller, interim solutions or things I could try myself; the only suggestion was financing the full amount. The immediate next step was being asked to retrieve my vehicle. The shop was extremely busy, and I left with the impression that they prioritize large, high-cost jobs. Disappointed with the experience and lack of flexible solutions, I will not be returning. Update to my previous review: It's been two weeks since I picked up my vehicle, and I have not observed any oil on my driveway. This seems inconsistent with what I was told about the severity of the oil leak issue during my visit. I have checked the oil level multiple times and it appears to remain at the same level. After posting my initial review, I received several phone calls from the shop owner requesting that I modify my review. I eventually asked that these calls stop. Service details: I paid $180 for initial diagnostics, during which I was told there was an 80% probability that the problem was my battery cables. I then paid $235.19 for new battery cables, but it did not resolve the issue. A subsequent diagnosis costing $359.98 identified a bad ground wire, which was then repaired by tapping in a new wire. Additional observations from my service experience: When I collected my vehicle, I noticed what appeared to be a black, grease-like substance on the exterior door handle that was not present when I dropped it off. I also discovered that the front emblem was no longer attached to my vehicle. When I inquired about this inside the shop, staff located the emblem and handed it to me and told me it fell off when they closed the hood. I check my fluids every month, this has never happened to me. There was no offer to repair the damage.

    On 9/9/25 I sought a diagnosis of my vehicle's transmission with Gary (Budget Transmission manager,…read moreon Gibraltar Way, Centennial, CO). Set it up, waited in my vehicle patiently, and when technician came over 1. he wouldn't get closer than 20 feet to talk with me after politely, repeatedly asking him to so do (could not hear him clearly enough), 2. I asked him If I could ride along with him for his test drive, said no, stated, "Would you allow any body to watch you work?," and then before I could get a syllable out says, "You can take it somewhere else," and walks off. I'm dumbfounded. I go to the office to straighten it out and the moment I get in Gary says, "Get out." and it only physically escalates from there via Gary's utter refusal to hear a word I have to say. (Was happy for the technician to take it solo. but could never get that out to either of them visa vis their outrageous way they treated me before I could say a thing. (Just for context: No other shop in my 70 years has ever said I couldn't ride along.)) Good chances Gary is going to bald-facedly lie through his teeth defending his indefensible actions here, but I have no reason to make this up. In fact I only went to this shop because a couple years prior I had talked to Gary on the phone and he seemed like a decent, knowledgeable fella so I had nothing but good will and trust with him until this happened. They might be excellent at what they do, I have no idea, but psychologically they are unhinged, to put it mildly, and if anything goes wrong with their work on your vehicle, etc., I wish to save everyone before-hand the nightmare of having to deal with these two in the first place. Thus, avoid this particular shop like the plague. Sincerely, a previously otherwise "potential life long customer' of this facility.
