Took almost two hours to fix simple problem of loose ribbon cables; claimed it took 45 minutes to open the laptop case, a task other techs usually accomplish in 5-10 minutes. Gave ridiculous excuses for lengthy repair; claimed that the plastic case was hard to open because the computer was running Windows 8. (Yeah, it's a bad OS, but it doesn't make the screws on the case any harder to remove.) Owner then went nuts and accused me of being this problem customer from 2008 who'd made obscene phone calls to his shop or something. He claimed he had "records" of my activity and was going to take me to court for being a thief (???). He'd been screaming all throughout the computer pickup, but he began going weirdly in and out of my personal space, as if he were deciding whether or not to initiate physical contact. Would not stop being aggressive while I booted up the computer to check to see that the work had been done. I eventually felt threatened enough to leave the shop; I had to call the police to protect me from being assaulted by the owner while paying the bill.

I took my Mac Book pro here for diagnostic and hopefully repair. My keyboard and track pad had stopped working. The machine itself would work with either blue tooth or USB mouse/keyboards attached, but I wanted to see the cost of repairing the laptop keyboard/track pad. First off, it took them 3 days to give me a diagnostic and estimate. I had to call myself to find the status. They told me it was the top case and it would cost $380. I decided this would be worth it to me and agreed to proceed. They called 2 days later and said it wasn't the top case after all it was the logic board and that would cost a bit more $440. All the people I spoke with at this company were not good with people. They weren't friendly, or good at explaining what they there were doing. It was almost like they explained too much technical and not enough of what a client needed to know. The repair tech on the phone went on and on about parts and technical terms etc.. I don't repair computers. I had to repeatedly ask: How much will this cost and when can you get it done? He told me 1-2 more days and I decided for $60 more I'd move forward with the repair. I get a call. Now it's both the case and the logic board need to be replaced and the repair would be over $800.00. They have had my computer a week at this point. I said no to this repair, as I may as well buy a new laptop at that point. They said I would need to pay a 20% restock fee. I said I didn't feel I should have to pay a restock fee when they couldn't properly estimate or diagnose my problem. I never would have agreed to an $800 plus repair. I would pay their $75 dollar diagnostic fee. I asked them to put my laptop back together and return it as I gave it to them. When I went to pick it up, there was no conversation, no apology or explanation, nothing. I barely got eye contact. I tested that my machine was working. Everything seemed in order. When I went to use it the next day (with Bluetooth keyboard/mouse) the battery ran out. When I plugged the charger in, it wouldn't register the charger. I couldn't charge the laptop. I took my Mac book to the Apple Store in the Maine Mall. They diagnosed it free of charge!!! This is what they found. There is a simple plug in cable in the case that enables the charger to work. This cable was disconnected. They plugged it back in and it worked fine, and they didn't even charge me. So Unlimited Technology formerly Capitol Computers either directly sabotaged my laptop so it would appear to be in working order at their office but break later; or they are simply incompetent. Either way this is completely unacceptable service. The Apple Store diagnosed the keyboard issue free of charge. I can't remember exactly the full diagnosis, but they said it would be a little over $500 to repair. I decided to just use it with Bluetooth accessories until I upgrade. I should have just gone to Apple, as I have always had the great customer service at the Maine Mall store. I was simply hoping to save some time as Unlimited Technology formerly Capitol Computers was closer to me and I try to support small business. It was really disappointing how awful the experience was.

However this time around I called and they said they had the part but didn't have it picked yet and that they were going to call me back the next day when it was ready. Well next day came around and just figured I would check the status and a time to pick it up. All I got was a attitude and don't know we'll call you and then I asked availability for another part and the answer I got was I think we have it then silence. They didn't even bother to look for me and left me hanging. Ohh and I never got that call back either. I won't drive a hour away for a maybe we have it give a straight answer or atleast try to look it up it's there damn job. This really sucks because I used to do alot of business with them and not anymore.

I just got it back and it's keeping perfect time. About 10 years before this, I sent my Rolex to California Watch Repair (another so-called Rolex repair company) to do a service, and a month later my watch had visible water droplets on the inside crystal. I found The Watch Repair Center and after speaking with Errol I sent it to him. He cleaned out all the water damage, replaced everything that was irreparable and then did a full service. It then ticked as a Rolex should, and no water issues from then on. I can't speak highly enough about Errol and his wife Michelle. 20 Stars out of 10! Seriously!
