He had to change to 12:15PM the day before, so I agreed. Once here, he put together everything, but I was a bit worried with him carrying heavy parts of the furniture down the steps because he is a bit older and doesn't seem to be in the best shape. I didn't want him to fall going down the steps. He put everything together and it all looked good. He quickly left after I payed.

I will say that he did go above and beyond to help me find the right hinges for a fair price, and he seemed like such a nice guy! He came back a few weeks later with his caulking man (George) and also to fix some uneven cabinet doors from when he installed the soft close hinges. We went through the house and I showed him and George the areas I wanted to be re-caulked: around the kitchen counters, a powder room sink, upstairs tub and bathroom, and laundry room sink. Surprisingly, they were done in less than 90 minutes! I was outside when they finished and were getting ready to leave. Probably my mistake, but I trusted that he did a good job since he talked up George's caulking work so much. I should have gone in and taken a look myself. He didn't ask me to take a look at the work before leaving (a habit that good contractors should have, in my opinion). When I took a closer look after they left, I was very disappointed. The caulking in the kitchen was messy looking-lumpy and edges were not smooth. There were areas that had dirt stuck in the caulking and there was caulk on my tile and cabinets. Then I noticed that he overlooked the powder room. I texted him and told him so and also commented on how the caulking job was not very neat. He replied that he didn't know about the powder room, that it "wasn't on his list". We then talked on the phone, and he was incredibly defensive and insisted that I didn't ask him to caulk the powder room. Ridiculous since George had gone in there with me and even pulled some of the old caulking off and left it on the sink! He just never went back to finish the job. Earl insisted that it wasn't on his "list", but his "list" is only in his mind. He doesn't write anything down! Anyways, he defended George, saying that his work was "perfect". I was taken aback by his defensiveness and unwillingness to admit any wrongdoing. He spoke in an annoyed and rude tone to me. If a customer is unhappy with your work then you apologize and try to see what you can do to fix it. You don't get defensive and rude and basically make him/her feel like they are wrong to complain. Sheesh. I'm very sorry it turned out this way, but I'm back to looking for a new handyman.

We've been collecting mid century modern furniture for our new home, and Carolina Furniture…read moreRestoration has become our absolute go to for bringing these pieces back to life. They restored our Merton Gershun Accord bedroom set, which we sourced from different vendors. The nightstands, dresser, and mirror were in decent shape, but the headboard was in a bit rougher shape. Now every single piece looks cohesive, flawless, and honestly better than we ever imagined. We also brought them a 1969 Lane coffee table we found on Facebook Marketplace. It had water stains, uneven legs, and plenty of wear. Brian worked his magic, and it came back looking like a showpiece. It is perfectly restored, structurally solid, and visually stunning. On top of that, we purchased unfinished wood bedframes and had them tone and color matched to our MCM sets. The match is spot on !!!! You'd never know they weren't part of the original collection. Their attention to detail is incredible, pricing is excellent, craftsmanship is outstanding, and communication/responsiveness is top tier. They keep you in the loop with pictures of the restoration process. They're also refreshingly no nonsense and genuinely do right by you. They explain exactly what needs to be done and why. While other places gave quotes based on photos, Brian actually came out to our storage locker to inspect everything firsthand so he could give an accurate assessment. Brian was more than happy to help us decide on our furniture purchases. We had seen two headboards for our Gerhsun set on ebay at vastly different price points. Both would have needed to be restored, though one looked in a bit worse shape than the other. Brian expertly steered us to purchasing what we needed and saved us significant cash. One final thing, is Carolina Furniture restoration is able to accommodate tight timelines without sacrificing quality. Carolina Furniture Restoration is the real deal. They are skilled, honest, and passionate about their craft. We couldn't recommend them more highly.

He did find the hinges I needed for the doors on a dresser even though the dresser old. He put them in but did not show me till after that he had to remove some wood pieces on side to get the hinges to fit. It looks bad but will look better when I stain exposed areas. My one major complaint is that one door is perfect and closes well. The other door is slightly off - when I close it rubs against the side of the dresser. In closing it has actually "shaved" off some of the wood on the door. I will have to sand the door to keep it from rubbing on the side of the dresser

It caused us some inconvenience when they said they won't be able to unload and unpack same day. So we spent the night without any furniture, clothes, or anything for the kitchen. As it was all stored overnight in their truck. The crew of 6 were friendly, did their work and hustled. They were responsive to our needs and always polite. We appreciated that. However what didn't work well for us is that we lost a cabinet in the move that they dropped and it got damaged! Post the move we also spotted a few prominent damages to our furniture like a full chip off our brand new mango wood breakfast table, a rip near the leg of our living room loveseat. Chips off night stands. And skid marks near the door trimming and hardwood Floors. The prominent one was the sliding door new closet cabinet that we just cannot use because of the crack and breakage at the top and back entirely. They need to take better care with the move especially when the crew changes hands to finish the job. And if you're considering them make sure you double check and verify how long will it take and cost upfront. We were told one thing and what ended up happening was different.

They mentioned nothing about such a price increase during any step of the process. Not when arriving, not when seeing the full scope of what would be moved, and not when loading the stuff. I would leave a 1 star but I believe a 2 star would gain more attention, hopefully saving others from being scammed.
