I told her to take it to my buddy Danny at Pro Transmissions & Automotive who I've known for half of my life for a second opinion. Danny did what Danny does: he properly diagnosed the problem and determined that the van did not need an entirely new engine. His team replaced the necessary gaskets, completed the head-gasket and timing job, and got my sister back on the road for about half of what the other shop had quoted. Honest diagnosis, quality work, and a huge amount of money saved. If you're facing an expensive repair, take your vehicle to Danny before giving up on it. I cannot recommend this shop enough, a second opinion from the right shop can make all the difference! Our mechanic near our home did spark plugs and coil packs for $1911. That did not fix the problem, then told us we needed a $10,000. engine replacement. We then found the engine man, so we saved our money and found the time to drive 48miles to let them check it out. They found out that our current mechanic never changed the 8th plug and coil pack and our engine. They also cleaned the transmission and still saved us $6000. If my car broke down in front of Japanese Motor Works I would push it to the nearest Honda…read moredealership to be repaired. Japanese Motor Works are incompetent and dishonest. They will tell you they have identified the problem with your car and how to solve it, yet after they have implemented their solution they will inform you it did not solve the problem but they will still charge you for it. You still need your car repaired so now you are trapped, next they will pacify you by assuring you this time they have definitely identified the problem and how to solve it, so you give them the go ahead and cross your fingers. A few days later you will receive another call informing you their new solution did not solve the problem either but they will still charge you for that too. They will drag this process out for weeks and squeeze you for 5 to 10 times the amount of their original quote. I am not the only person to have this experience with Japanese Motor Works, they are notorious for it, ask around and see for yourself. You would think they would notice the lack of repeat customers and see it as a sign they might not be doing good business. Charging people for something that does not work should be illegal. What a pathetic way to make a living.

It has been sitting outside on Sean's property collecting dust and debris for over four months. Sean originally took on this project and told us that if he got backed up, Jay would step in to help get the car up and running. We were completely fine with that. However, without any clear communication, we suddenly found ourselves dealing only with Jay. Communication since then has been terrible. We receive no updates unless my husband repeatedly calls, texts, and pushes for answers. Each time we are told additional money is needed for parts or labor, my husband immediately withdraws the funds and pays them. In December, we were told an additional $2,000 was needed for labor just to get started. My husband withdrew the $2,000 and paid it, and we were told that would cover the remaining labor. Since then, nothing has been done. No labor. No progress. No updates. All the parts needed to rebuild the entire front end are there. The car has not been touched. Now we are getting the runaround. Jay does not respond to calls or texts, and Sean claims he has nothing to do with it -- yet the vehicle is still sitting on Sean's property, and Sean is the one who originally took on the project before passing it off. At this point, this feels like a complete scam. We have documentation, text messages, proof of payments, and photos posted on their Facebook page. This situation is beyond unacceptable. We do not recommend Sean or Jay for any projects in the Gwinnett, Winder, or Barrow County areas. We are prepared to pursue legal action to resolve this matter. This has been 100% ridiculous and completely unprofessional.
