It wasn't just a bad job--within a week, I developed a painful infection on my pointer finger. In hindsight, I should have taken the empty salon on a Saturday afternoon as a red flag. A week later, I had to go to another salon to have them fixed. The technicians there were shocked and asked where I had gotten them done, even suggesting that I shouldn't have paid for such poor work. The dip powder was applied way too thick, and my nails had been filed down so much that they were too thin. They recommended giving my nails time to regrow before getting another manicure. My nails are so thin that UV light would burn my fingers

QQ1 Spa is the vision of group leader Jenny, who manages the daily operations, oversees the three other female massage therapists (also from China, and also dual-licensed), and who steps in during peak times to help with client requests for everything from 4-handed massages to couples therapy to "cupping." The latter uses-- you guessed it-- several small-teacup-sized cups but translucent and without handles-- to draw blood to the surface of the skin to help drain it from knots creating muscle tension. Jenny and her staff -- including Emily, Eva and a fourth therapist -- are all wonderful treasures. When one enters QQ1, one immediately sees each team member's government-issued massage therapy licenses, each one up-to-date with state and local municipality renewal permits required to remain in good standing. A pain in the tush, to be sure. A great chance for people to grouse about the bureaucracy creating needless layers of guvmint spending to the burdens of American workers. Well, yes. But. There is value to the community good in having laws that, when followed by the citizens, show the patriotic zeal these most recent of Americans display to ensure their credentials are noted by current and prospective new clients when they enter the front door. Choosing "QQ1" as the spa's name was a nod to the Chinese cultural tradition of using certain numbers and letters in business titles to help enable good fortune and prosperity. QQ1 is on-brand to telegraph a message of trust to consumers. Perhaps akin to American small businesses that use such titles as A1, Best, and Top Service, among others. It's so endearing that any modern small business would invest such thought and care into these details. Yet QQ1 has. And it shows in their scheduling flexibility when a new client first calls to see if any appointments are open for a new client's unexpected back pain flair-up. Which is surely going to be exacerbated by the added pain in the neck of trying to find a quick available time to get a professional therapist treatment. Which makes it great to know that I when you call QQ1 they will say: just drive over. They handle this type of thing all the time. How often can anyone say they actually leave a retail establishment feeling so much better than they did when they came in?

I only did 30-minutes since it was late. She did her best to give me a whole body massage, but most of it was focused on my back, neck and shoulders with the short amount of time. Even so, she hit all areas with the time allotted. I will return and try New Paradise Wellness again, and allow for a 60-minute so there's plenty of time for Sarah to give a whole body massage without being cut short on time. I recommend New Paradise Wellness. I think you'll find them accommodating to your needs. There was one other therapist available.

The technique my masseuse used was basic but fine. The massage (at the introductory level) was well priced; I got the lavender scalp massage add on for $20 (so NOT worth it- it didn't include any extra time/ it was just an oil and 2 minutes of scratching my head). I find it a bit disingenuous because I asked my masseuse if she could simply do some minor scalp massage technique during my massage and I didn't realize I was being upsold mid massage. The most annoying part was the constant chatter. Based on other reviews- I'm assuming this is part of their training- to constantly engage the client. I couldn't go 1 minute without being asked a question like "How was your day?" Or "What do you do for a living? Or "Do you have any plans after this?" It was really annoying and terribly awkward.... I'm there to get a massage not make a friend or have talk therapy. If I'm desperate- I might research if there is a particular masseuse who is good. And I'll just ensure to mention I want complete silence during the massage unless they are asking about the pressure or to turn over.
