When I called to ask for my money back to take it elsewhere I had to yell to get more than 3 words out because He would not stop railroading over the top of me. And I never yell, I have terrible anxiety and confrontation is extremely difficult. I asked for the respect to at least be heard and not talked over the top of and the answer I got was, "Well it doesn't matter what you say because you're not getting your money back." It's immensely disrespectful and rude. It is still not fixed and I'm told the only option I have to to take it back for a third time so they can look at it, but my expectations are now incredibly low-I imagine I'll end up having to pay someone else to fix it. And the money and time I've spent getting the car there and paying to have it fixed at Heath's will just have been a waste.

Smoke billowing from under the hood and heat sensors spiking. YIKES!! Marc Counter (Owner) took me as a drive-in, (and trust me, vintage Jags arent their usual car.) He was friendly, professional and just a regular local guy, who wants to get you back on the road. (He even invited me to have some chicken wings! lol) He was highly recommended by a few locals, and within a few hours, he had the parts delivered on-site and a decent price, he replaced some radiator tubes, flushed/replaced all the coolant and I was on my way again. Apparently, they operate almost entirely via text, which seems to be a post-COVID communication adaptation. I explained the situation via text with "Taylor"--though to this day, I'm still not sure if Taylor is a real person or just the automotive equivalent of Siri. I let him know we were only in town for a short time and asked if they could get us in ASAP. The response was quick and honest: "We don't do ASAP." Fair enough. That said, they did manage to get the vehicle in within 24 hours, which all things considered, was pretty ASAP. Unfortunately, the part we needed wasn't available through their usual sources. Fortunately, we sourced it ourselves through our dealer and had it overnighted. When it comes to car repairs, the old saying goes: You can have it good, cheap, or fast--pick two. Somehow, Taylor and the Hoffman's team managed to deliver all three. They got us in as fast as realistically possible, the work was solid (as evidenced by the fact that I'm typing this 1,000 miles later, well on our way back to Reno, NV), and the final bill came in nearly 15% under the original quote. That's a rare trifecta. Dealing with Hoffman's does come with a few quirks, but in the end, they're a small price to pay for honest, competent work--especially when you're far from home and just trying to get back on the road.

I scheduled a diagnostic when I had several known issues going on with my car and an emissions code…read morethat had all the other local tri-lakes mechanics scratching their heads. 3 dealerships either gave me $5000+ diagnostic, tried talking me into replacing the engine, or buying a new vehicle (Plattsbugh dealership even scheduled me to do an o2 sensor repair then turned me away after seeing how buried the sensor was and I left in a fury). Main Line Auto gave me a quote of $1200 to do all the undercarriage work AND the hard to reach sensor and guaranteed me they'd get the check engine light off. Although I did end up trading my car in for a newer vehicle a year later, I'm grateful to Main Line for being one honest business out there. Not ripping people off and having the integrity to stand behind one's work is rare these days.

I had my truck inspected here. Shortly after (within less then 50 miles) I had 2 ball joints fail…read morecausing close to 10k (+ or - )in damage. While Monroe after dealing with a few nasty people did pay to fix my truck and put me in a rental nothing was done about the value of my truck. Its now worth around 10k less then trucks with similar low mileage for the year. And after the last talks with them. I have no chance at recouping that value without paying for a lawyer that would cost about the same. That being said I would suggest going to another shop in saranac lake. While more expensive upfront you will save in the long run.

Kenny , he took note of my problem and promptly diagnosed the cause. Unfortunately , he didn't have the part, but offered to order one and repair the next day. Since it was not possible for me to come back, Kenny said my tire was safe to drive on, and since I had a portable tire pump , there should be no problem with my slow leak, he was correct , I made it home just fine, and had to order the part here at home too. Thanx to Kenny and his staff, I made it home with a relaxed piece of mind. Also there was no charge, I assume since I was with AAA , or just plain small town nice !

He arrived on scene quickly, towed us back to his shop in Tupper Lake and quickly replaced the front tires on our car to get us back on the road. Walt was very kind, professional and took the time to show us the repairs he needed to make and even pointed out a few other issues we needed to have checked on our car. His knowledge, transparency and honest-dealing made a difficult situation so much easier. I was also impressed with how little he charged us for the tow and tires.
