USAA recommends him in an "off the record" manner. Which is shady in its own right for an insurance company to do that. Word of advice; just sub out your own work. There's no reason to use this professional grade joke to just take your money in trade for him making phone calls to sub contractors. You'll explain things to him in detail, just for him to tell you 3 days later "electricians will be there tomorrow at 9 if you want to meet with them and tell them what you want." His framer, good. Drywall guy, good. Electric sub contractor, (Lighting Electrical, Hutto) a complete joke. Stone masons, decent. Insulation, a joke (didn't plumb one of our rooms into the HVAC, and wanted to short change us on insulation). He also ran our dryer outlet up into the attic with just flex hose running into our soffit, laid there open ended above the insulation (NFPA code violation). We handled our own flooring, cabinets, and tile (best decision of the build). So I can not comment on his subs for that; however, shout out to Bo Quinney out of Rockdale, TX. Awesome cabinet work!!!! Field super is a joke. Lack of oversight and or lack of knowledge. You repeat yourself allot with these guys. My wife had to repeatedly show him how to use a tape measure regarding ceiling fan installation, canned lighting and other placement; yet alone every other detail of our remodel and build. They must have never learned how to take notes in school. I honestly was tempted to buy them note books. The rhetorical questions over things we covered over and over again really was frustrating. It made my wife and I, among ourselves call into question their intelligence level. Final walk throughs are crucial for you, the homeowner. When they were saying they were done I was still finding water damage and moldy dry wall by our HVAC unit in the hall which they were supposed to fix. Punctuality, a joke. 7 month estimated project took 10 months just about. Partially because his subs were constantly bouncing between other job sites, besides my next gripe. Jim Nuckols has piss poor management skills with funds. He lost track and or "misplaced" deposits to him and held us hostage with no work being performed on the house for a solid 4.5 weeks. When we inquired as to why work halted, and when work would resume on our house; he replied "when you pay me." Immediately after he replied, my wife reminds him of the $30k+ check that he's had for over a month and a half; and he just says "oh, sorry." Magically his subs show back up. (All these years and I still have this text exchange on a phone.) He will do half assed work and cut corners unless you scrutinize and supervise. Example, our fresh framework was rained on. Mold grew all over. They just wanted to insulate and drywall over it. His field super, who I can not recall his name, maybe Jason, said that the mold won't hurt anything. No, no no no. We, the homeowners had to contact insurance and take photos to get Nuckols to apply mold kill to all that fresh framing that was growing spores. (Ironically there's another review here that deals with this guy and mold). So yeah; better late than never on a review. This is just the Cliffs Notes version of our ordeal interacting with these clowns. Sorry about going down this worm hole of a review; call it oppressed memories. As I travel for work, thank God my wife worked in the building trade for years and could have GC'd it herself. She kept them honest and got our house built. True story. Puncturing an internal PVC plumbing pipe, illegally wrapping it in black duct tape, and immediately hiding it behind the new siding is not a 'punch-list' item - it is active fraudulent concealment. The 'Fraudulent' Financing: We authorized the payment because they claimed to follow actively concealed the duct-taped plumbing. Inducing a customer to authorize a loan by hiding severe damage is the legal definition of fraudulent concealment. Contradictory Public Statements & The BBB Complaint: JP Exteriors is using public platforms to feign cooperation. On our active BBB complaint, they claim they are waiting for our independent inspection report before taking action. However, their own written record proves they inspected the property themselves on June 11th and issued a superficial patching offer on June 22nd. The very next day, they explicitly stated in writing they were not willing to expand their scope to a full replacement, formally refusing to cure the hidden defects before our third-party inspection was even conducted on June 24th. The 42-page independent inspection report, which we received on June 29, definitively confirms that the widespread, concealed code violations and structural deficiencies cannot be resolved through superficial patching. The report details systemic failures, including improperly installed weather-resistant barriers, missing flashings, overdriven fasteners, damaged boards, unsealed wall penetrations, and an internal PVC plumbing pipe that was punctured by a fastener and actively concealed with black duct tape. The Manufacturer's Involvement: James Hardie is indeed involved, to the extent that the manufacturer offered to provide free replacement materials to JP Exteriors so they could execute a proper rework. JP Exteriors leadership actively refused this offer. We stand entirely by our documented evidence, our 42-page forensic inspection report, and our active fraud dispute with the Texas Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division. Mike was one of those masters of both window repair and running a business. He was the kind of guy who you would come out to replace a broken window and while he was there, he would check all of the windows in your home. While he was checking the windows, he would do minor adjustments as part of the service. He would give you an estimate and he would show up o time and deliver on time and on budget, as promised. Since Mike sold the business in July, the service has declined. The new owner seems to know about windows but he's struggling at running a business. He seems disorganized. Calls aren't returned. Emails aren't returned. Promised dates are missed without explanation or communication. A growing business needs someone to answer phones, schedule workers and attend to details in order to maintain customers. Hopefully, the new owner is still learning to juggle being a worker and being a business owner and things will improve. In the meantime, read the previous reviews 4 star and 5 star reviews with the knowledge those are ratings on the previous owner.

The bathroom had not been updated since the 70s and a small leak from the plumbing was starting to cause water spots on the ceiling of the room below. We had several companies come out to bid on the project but ultimately chose LFM because we trusted them and worked well with Tommy. The project went smoothly and Tommy frequently stopped by to check on progress. I really liked the WhatsApp thread used to communicate since it kept everyone on the same page. They also provided an easy to use spreadsheet to help track what we needed to purchase for the project and when we would need it. Tommy was always great to jump in and provide recommendations when we got stuck since this was our first remodel project. Our goal was to open up the room as much as possible since it was originally small and crammed. Tommy and Jose did a great job providing recommendations and confirming what we could and couldn't due with the space. They ended up creating a lot more space by removing a doorway frame, removing unnecessary soffits, and converting the door to a pocket door. The rest of the crew was always friendly and cleaned up after themselves at the end of the day. They were also easy to work with for any remaining punch list items. We love the final result and the kids are so happy to have a new (pink) bathroom to use. We also ended up adding a few small projects at the end since we had such a good experience with the team. We had them re-insulate our attic, including removal of the old insulation and foam boards. They also demoed a built-in cabinet in our hallway and repaired the wall so we can make the space more usable. Unfortunately, their subcontractor installed R-15 insulation in the walls instead of the agreed-upon R-30. The attic was also only partially insulated. Because the attic was difficult to access, I asked the company to provide pictures showing the completed insulation. They sent me photos claiming to show our attic, but the pictures were actually of someone else's attic. I did not discover this until later, when an HVAC company was working in our attic and showed me pictures confirming that the insulation was only partially installed. This was not simply poor workmanship--it was misleading and dishonest. We paid for work that was not completed according to the contract, and we were given pictures that did not even show our property. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this company. Be extremely careful and verify the work yourself before making any final payment.

Quality of cabinets, quality of windows, quality of countertops, etc. In terms, of materials, I had no idea what I would be signing onto. I quickly passed. I am picking the project up again on the kitchen and a shower update. The kind of estimates that I am considering are: ballpark figure. 5% upfront charge, design process to narrow down exact costs. More detailed contract arrangement. I would avoid and certainly do not put 50% down on a kitchen project without a design and specifications.

Everyone seemed to go out of their way to make everything work smoothly. I love my bathroom with pull-out faucets, outlets in cabinets, drawers built around the drains. I have so much room, I still have empty drawers. In one of the pictures, you can see the tile baseboards. The rest of the hose was also painted, but what a wonderful job they did. My kitchen cabinets look brand new. Everything was painted from the ceiling to the crown molding and the walls and baseboards. All beautifully finished. There is not one thing I am not happy with.
