I'm torn. I would give a higher rating to him because I do think he is a good dentist. On my first visit, it was an emergency, but he took me in almost right away. He is very friendly and he is a pretty good dentist. That being said, I'd only go there if you're a guy. He started to give me a hug after a procedure because I was crying (novocaine does NOTHING for me, as do most pain medicines), and I thought that was nice. He was actually empathetic. Two procedures/visits later (all within a month), he called me at home to see how I was feeling. That's nice of him, I guess. Until he asked me out shopping to Neiman Marcus that weekend and said he'd buy me anything I wanted. Now, I love shopping at Neiman's, but I was NOT looking for any sort of creepy sugar daddy. I am Dr Vajdi patient and an ex employee , I worked there for 4 years and also had a crown done there many years later as well as referring many of my friends to him who were in need of a good dentist. That should say it all. I know many dentists over the last 26 years of my career and he is one of the good ones. He cares about his patients and is a great dentist. The crown he did for me is still going strong since 2011. If you go to a dentist to use his bathroom when you are not a patient there do yourself a favor and don't leave a nasty review because the bathroom was for the patients only and now you're pouting. If you want a kind dentist that cares about quality then you have found the right place and that says something coming from an ex employee!! His staff are really nice too. I am a local DC resident who has been in the Washington DC area for most of life. I have never been more horrified by they lack of professionalism of the front desk staff at this practice. I was in the building and asked this dentist office for information and if I could use their restroom. They denied me the bathroom and the dentist did not even come to the front, what lack of leadership this is little do they know I was too searching for a dentist to have some work done. How sad that people like this can be so unkind to its neighbor and possible patient. I do not recommend this place to anyone, can you imagine the standard of work they do. I would instead recommend Doctor Mark Rusk on 18th Street and I Street NW who was incredible after dealing with such rude people. read more

Dr. Vajdi, was referred to me by a friend who had been going to him for years. He came highly recommended. I went for a regular cleaning and was extremely impressed by the friendly and knowledgable staff and by Dr. Vajdi's complete professionalism. His dental assistant Gwen, might as well have been a dentist herself; her thoroughness and attention to detail while cleaning and x-raying was simply superb. I unfortunately had to come back for an on-lay procedure which required multiple visits to a periodontist, but staying true to his craft, Dr. Vajdi thoroughly explained the procedure and kept me informed of EVERYTHING I was concerned about... his receptionist was even sent in prior to the procedure to explain exactly how much of it was covered with my insurance and how much I would owe. Ive been 'surprised' with other dentists and was very grateful to Dr. Vajdi for his Professionalism. I will gladly submit this review with a highly satisfied stamp of approval. Best dentist in DC. Staff is always polite and nice. They work with you and your insurance. Most visits to doctors' offices in DC are a pain from calling, dealing with rude staff, to dealing with goofy doctors who don't care. Dr. Vajdi's office is the complete opposite. Fabulous dentist and a really professional staff. I had the misfortune of visiting 2 other dentists to try and tackle a dental emergency only to be charged hundreds of dollars for useless x-rays, without ever hearing what the actual problem was and how to go about fixing things. Within 10 minutes of walking into this office the doctor had told me what was wrong, what he was going to do and how much it would cost. Within an hour it was fixed and I was on my way. If you are looking for a great dentist, I'd highly recommend making an appointment. If, however, you are looking for a public restroom -- as another reviewer was -- GO TO Starbucks!! read more

It was HORRIBLE experience. I visited him because I had lot of pain on left side of my jaw. He barely spend any time to examine further what was the issue was. And decided the problem was my wisdom teeth after ten seconds looking my xrays. Turns out the problem was another teeth and it needed root canal. He does not care about his patients and he is all about making money. I would definitely NOT go to him unless you want to get your teeth pulled out for no reason. read more

I went to Dr. Vajdi in December of 2012. He came highly recommended from co-workers. This was the first time in several years that I was using dental insurance so I called ahead to make sure they would accept my insurance fully and that I would not be charged anything for the visit. They took my information, looked up the insurance and said that they accept it and that there would be no charges. When I went in for my appointment I checked again, in person, just to be sure. I asked if I would be charged at all for today's visit and even showed them the x-rays I brought with me so that I wouldn't need new ones. They assured me there would be no charges and that my insurance would cover everything. It is now almost October of 2013 and I have spent the past several months receiving nasty phone calls from Dr. Vajdi's staff and then from a debt collecting agency who screamed at me over the phone and told me that they will be destroying my credit. I have never had such a horrible experience from any doctor and I have lived in developing countries. The office staff lied to me and Dr. Vajdi refused to speak with me to sort out the problem. I checked in every way I could possibly think of to make sure I wouldn't have to pay additional fees (knowing this was not in my budget) and still I was slapped with a $111 bill (this in addition to the approx. $200 my insurance paid). If you are wealthy and don't mind throwing away money go see this doctor. Otherwise, better to save your money and time elsewhere. read more

Best dentist I have had in 57 years of living in five different states. Moved away from DC for a few years and had to use someone else, and when I moved back to DC, it was a real pleasure to be under his care again. Good thing I did, because I had allowed a serious infection to develop, and he made sure I got same-day emergency care from a specialist he hand-picked, and then he followed up to make sure everything was done properly. I've been seeing Dr. Vajdi for nearly 12 years and wish I started coming to him even sooner. He is by far the best dentist I have ever had and his staff is superb. He has a warm and caring manner and does flawless work. Gwen, the hygienist, is also so kind and gentle yet very thorough. It is a clean, up to date, modern office yet serene and there is never a wait. Dr. Vajdi and his staff are quick to notice any issue that needs to be addressed as well, and provide excellent referrals when needed such as for an orthodontist or periodontist in my cases. I have sent many friends, family and colleagues to this office and they are all extremely satisfied and happy. I couldn't recommend this practice more. read more

This dental office is greedy and selfish. They told me my insurance would cover all the costs, but then told me I was out-of-network afterwards. They refused to renegotiate the $440 fee for a teeth cleaning, which I was stuck with. Find someone else if you can. read more
