I'm new to the area and I was looking for a new dentist. I found this location from a flyer that came in my mailbox so I thought I'd try them out. The staff was very friendly and was very warm and welcoming. Once taken back to the servicing area it looked a bit thrown together. Not like a normal enclosed room with professional tools but I was ok with that as long as the service was good. The hygienist was very kind.But upon beginning, my cleaning, I noticed very little professional tools were used that I was used to seeing in a dentist office. She barely cleaned much with any tools. Basically cleaned my teeth with a small pick for just a moment or two. Then flossing was done. They immediately put me in for xrays to see what my teeth were like. That was expected. But then they went into sales mode and were pushing me to replace multiple teeth with implants. I was shocked. I take good care of my teeth and didn't expect that at all. They pushed for me to fill out applications to purchase the procedure and I did foolishly. Anyway, then I mentioned i was interested in teeth whitening. They had that too and submitted a ticket for $800 for trays. I don't know why i signed for that but I did. Just felt pressured and I folded. Anyway after leaving I had buyers remorse and I called them back a few days later and told them to cancel. They first said ok and then a few days later they called me and told me the trays were ready. I asked them to cancel. They ended up returning $400 but refused to return all of it. Not only were they twice the price of anyone within fifty miles, I lost $400 dollars and the trays. Lesson learned. Anyway, I would not recommend this place at all. I found another dentist that's reputable and did a thorough cleaning. Made listless to say I will not be going back to this place ever. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Kasper for at least 14 years. I discovered her when my 7 year old son was accidentally kicked in the teeth at 8pm on a Saturday night and she was THE ONLY dentist out of about 20 who answered my call. My son was in excruciating pain with nerves hanging out of his tooth. She left a dinner with her elderly mother in Tyson's Corner to come to our rescue. She was so, gentle, loving and kind with my son. From that day, my two sons and I have been loyal patients. My husband would be a patient too if it wasn't for his military status. He asks me regularly if the three of us are regular on our apps and he reminds me, "Don't EVER change dentist," They are not all as honest and ethical as Dr. Kasper."Everyone in her practice is so kind and professional. I have been going to Old Town Dentistry since 2019, but unfortunately I have decided to move on. There have been different things the past year that have not sat well with me and today was the final straw. To start, over a year ago I had a severe cavity that required a crown. I had this procedure done in April 2023. It felt fine after a few weeks in terms of there was no lingering pain, but I could not chew on that side because the bite didn't feel right. I went in multiple times and each time the bite needed to be adjusted which I found odd that it took so many tries. But then it still did not get better. Finally I was told I should see an endodontist because they did not know what was going on. I finally got the referral about 10 months after I had the initial procedure done. For almost a year I could not chew on the left side of my mouth. Come to find out, I needed a root canal and that was causing the bite issues. Even though I'm seeing a general dentist, I expect these type of things to be diagnosed/figured out a little faster than me going almost an entire year of not being able to chew on an entire side of my mouth. Due to this, I had to put off a filling on the other side of my mouth so I could at least have one side of my mouth I could functionally chew on. Other things that have bothered me over the years is one female hygienist I had been paired with quite a few times made me pretty uncomfortable with the way she would talk to me. I think she was coming from a place of caring, but she would continually try to pry into my personal life and ask me questions/expressed concern about why I had missed almost a year of dental care in 2020. I didn't feel it was her place to be asking these kind of questions or talking to me in that way. It frankly made me uncomfortable because I did have a lot of personal issues due to the pandemic and it made me uncomfortable a complete stranger was probing me on this. She's not my doctor or therapist so it really felt weird and off to me. Luckily the past few times I've been in, I have not been paired with her but I do believe she still works there. In addition to these two items, there have been multiple billing issues. I unexpectedly received a bill for dental work that should have been covered by my insurance. My insurance informed me that their office had lapsed on some sort of agreement with them and that I would have to pay out of pocket which was never disclosed to me when I went in for that appointment. When I called the office, I was informed that they were working it out but it took about a month for that to be cleared up. I felt that was unprofessional and a little alarming. Then for my last service I received a notice from my insurance that my bill was not covered because they put in my ID number incorrectly. Again with these little issues, it makes me question the office's ability to function as a whole. Now lastly as to what the final straw was for me, I had scheduled a cleaning and filling for today. I unfortunately have been having coughing fits all last night. Have barely been able to sleep because this consistently went on every 20 minutes with little relief. I wrote the office to inform them I would not be able to come in because there would be no way to get the work done with the way I am coughing. I told them I had tried calling, but no one was in to answer the phone. I informed them I had been sick last week and unfortunately I had a lingering cough and mind you these unrelenting coughing fits started last night. I am a critical old Italian lady with high expectations and rarely give compliments. I was so impressed with everyone here that they deserve me taking the time to write a review. I have had 6 dentures made by 6 different dentists over the past 28 years. Some dental clinics were worse than others. Each one gave me different advice on common issues. I just moved again and needed to find a new Dentist. The first call was to the receptionist who spent a long time with me answering my questions about self pay fees etc. for denture relining and/or a new set. She was wonderful explaining patiently and courteously and got right back to me with answers to questions she did not know. I was impressed so far so I made an appointment. I was taken on time, there was plenty of parking on the street and everything discussed ahead of time happened. Then I met the Dentist who is by far THE BEST DENTIST I EVER HAD! Not only was she cheerful, respectful and knowledgeable, she took her time explaining things in detail to me in an understandable way. She told me things I have never heard from any other Dentist that made perfect sense (and confirmed by an internet search). She is very meticulous to details and perfection. She also told me how she takes great pride in making sure her clients have the best treatment possible including water filters for all the dental instruments/sinks. Then, I was talking to another staff member who told me they take extra precaution with patient information and data, backing it up to a hard copy and storing it off premise. So, yes, I am extremely impressed. The only negative comment I can share is that the prices were medium high compared to "affordable dentistry discount businesses". Today was my first visit at Old Town Dentistry. I was feeling uneasy as one might usually feel before going to the dentist. From the moment I walked in I felt welcomed and cared for. The two ladies at the front were so nice to me. My name was called and it was time for the worst part in my opinion, the X-rays. Sarah was the one who did them and she was so understanding and sweet. She made me feel so at ease. The dental hygienist (I didn't get her name) came in to take care of the last X-rays and she was wonderful as well. She told me to breathe and was very encouraging. Then came the cleaning which went by fast which I love! Dr. Kasper came in to speak with me after and explained in a very non judgmental way everything she saw in the pictures and exam. She was speaking to me as if she has known me for years! It's sad when you go to a dentist and they make you feel bad for not flossing or having cavities. Old Town Dentistry is my new dentist and I'd never thought I'd be thrilled about going to the dentist but I am! I'm giving two stars because everyone was pretty nice. However, I felt rushed and completely overwhelmed when it came to reviewing my dental health. The front desk lady was also pretty rude. I was seen in March 2021 and just received a ridiculously high bill for it (it's February 2022). It took them nearly a year?? I have had a number of procedures here and Dr. Kasper and her staff have been extremely friendly, understanding and on top of every little detail. -Clean & Comfortable environment -Walked me through every procedure step by step -Have not had any issues with my dental work The only drawback is that they continuously have added cost's on several times. Went in for a cavity and ended up leaving 3 hours later with a temporary cap right before the holidays for a tooth that wasn't even bothering me. I couldn't eat anything harder than mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving. I was miserable. They should have explained what was going to happen and given me the option to wait until after the holiday. Can't praise them enough - I hadn't officially switched dentists since moving to Old Town yet, but after I cracked my tooth at work, they agreed to see me on an urgent basis. The woman at the front desk was super courteous and was able to get me squeezed in on a Friday afternoon. Dr. Kasper was very informative about my issue and a potential plan going forward. I went here for years with the previous dentist. The office could use an update but that's not the reason for this post. When the new dentist, Dr. Kasper bought the practice, I went 1 time. I scheduled a 2nd appointment and needed to cancel my regular exam at the last minute. I expected the exam to be 30 mins - 1 hour. They informed me they were charging me a no-show fee for 2 hours because they decided to create a longer appointment for me to do extra work. I was not asked if I wanted the extra time nor told at the time of booking the appointment. They said they left me a voicemail to inform me. I told them I don't listen to my voicemails and that they don't have the right to decide if I'll have extra work and extra time at an appointment without a confirmation reply from me. I also was surprised because as a long time patient, they decided to bill me the full 2 hours instead of 1 hour for the missed appointment. Sufficed to say, I now have a new dentist and not much nice to say about Old Town Dentistry and Dr. Frinet Kasper's policies. I paid the bill so they can enjoy that money since they'll never get anything more out of me. Also, I referred 3 other colleagues to this practice since we work close by. I just learned they've all decided to get a new dentist for various reasons all having to do with recent experiences there. read more

Flawless service and insurance filing, quotes and questions answered ASAP. I've never been anywhere that had the same level of insurance transparency and engagement--fantastic, since I'm maxing the use of my benefits this year. If Dentist suggests a treatment, I ask for them to get approval/$$ insurance agrees to cover, and when I have to pay at end of treatment just refer to that amount--and that is what the Office asks me to pay. At a next visit, if there is any change in provisional quote and what insurance agrees to pay, then I pay the difference. So far, it has been spot on--but if I wait too long for treatment once quote is given, I can see how that might change. The fact that they agree to do this is so considerate for their patients. I also transferred my digital records in from Europe which they integrated easily into my new patient file. Very happy w/ them. read more

Very happy with my overall experience. I had chipped my tooth and needed to come in as soon as possible. The front office staff made it all happen, got me an appt. right away, made sure my insurance would be taken BEFORE I got there which is great for no surprises. When I arrived that staff was awesome, took care of me right away, incredibly friendly, you can tell the other patients there loved the office too. Dr. Kasper's dental asst. was great, took photos and had a good laugh about how I chipped my tooth again VERY friendly and personable. Dr. Kasper was just as amazing as her staff, she took great care of my tooth was honest about what I needed and fixed it, looks & feels great now. I originally went to this practice because it's 3 blocks from my work and many of my co-workers said the dentist was great... And He WAS - but he retired. I decided to go back due to the convenience for my next cleaning and loved Dr. Kasper! She and her staff are wonderful! SO WONDERFUL THAT I BROUGHT MY 8 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER THERE and she loved her too! The tell tale sign was 6 weeks ago when my daughter broke her front permanent tooth almost in half on the playground at school and I told her I could bring her to the kids dentist that she was use to in Vienna (they even have TV's in the ceiling and show cartoons all the time) and her response was - "No Mommy I want to go to your Dentist - she's very kind and gentle and I feel most comfortable there" - IMAGINE MY SUPRISE! Dr. Kasper - repaired her tooth and told us to come back in 6 weeks. We returned today (May 19th 2014) and I went in for a cleaning and check up as well and she did full xrays and discovered my root canal/crown from over 10 years ago is infected. Funny thing - I didn't trust the dentist who did it and overcharged me in the first place! The tooth isn't hurting but I saw the xrays and she explained everything. It's very obvious there's something going on there and the original dentist did NOT get the entire root. I love Dr. Kasper! Communication was nonexistent at best. I went in and they did a different procedure than discussed. I have never had a dental procedure so I did not know it was a different procedure they were doing(and not covered by insurance) until they called regarding a "small balance" on my account. The "small balance" was hundreds more than the quote they provided, and when I called my insurance to ensure this was correct and coded properly only then I found out they had done a different procedure than discussed. I had a 2nd visit with Dr. Kasper this AM after having a great experience last December. The start of my appt was great with the dental hygienist (Catherine is wonderful!). She noted that I needed fillings & there was an opening to get them done this AM. I recalled needing sealants, not fillings, from my last appt & wanted clarification. I also mentioned I would not have time to do it this AM & Catherine responded that Dr. Kasper "will be mad." Dr. Kasper comes in (who I'm assuming learned I didn't want to get fillings today), does my exam & makes comments like "I see a shadow, that's new, oh well" finishes the exam & asks if I have questions. I responded that I would like an explanation as to what she found. She proceeds to walk out of the room without saying another word. I had full intentions of taking her recommendations & booking a future appt. Looks like I will have to go elsewhere to see if I even have a cavity, let alone need a filling. read more

This office is extremely pushy and they harass you with calls and texts when you are overdue for a cleaning. I've had insurance salesman who are less persistent, and frankly it's annoying. It also seems like all they care about is making money and have suggested a few procedures that I don't think were necessary. When I came down with the flu and couldn't keep an appointment, they tried to make me feel guilty about the money the lost by me having to cancel. I'm so sorry I got sick. Jeepers. read more

I have hated every dentist I've ever had, except this one. I LOVE Dr. Kasper and have been going to her for the last 18 months or so. She takes her time, treats you courteously, does legitimately excellent work and is just so super sweet every single visit. I never thought I'd ever say I liked my dentist so much. I've had several bad experiences and I told them that going in, so they were super gentle and made sure to check in with me the whole time. Background: Moved back to MD/VA area 2 years ago (off/on for 40 years) and needed a dentist -- have successfully put it off due to being too busy, and any other excuse I could think of. I knew it was time to get checked however, so I asked a co-worker where he went and discovered Dr. Kasper's practice. Had my initial experience today and am impressed. The entire staff was low key, obviously caring and competent. Claudia Murphy was first, dental hygienist. Very competent, with an easy touch and a good communicator. Next I had a short and concise but thorough review with Dr. Kasper. Dr. Kasper has a very light touch - very measured and professional. I have some work to be done, and will try to update this review after the "real" experience. But I trust my instincts and everything is pointing toward a very positive relationship. read more

The staff is super friendly, the office is clean, I've never had an issue with payment/billings but more importantly is the service I receive. Dr. Kasper does a really great job at putting herself in the patient's shoes. I visited with her and had a filling and immediately she noticed how anxious I was while receiving a shot. I told her my heart raced when given a shot and she mentioned she could fix that. I had to receive another filling at the next appt and the shot she gave me, changed my whole experience at the dental office. I felt nothing! I didn't even realize she had given me the shot yet. She has VERY gentle hands and takes the time to ask the right questions. She has COMPLETLEY changed my dental experience. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a innovative, gentle dentist. Very impressed with Dr. F. With other dentists, I've had painful experiences with novacaine not working properly, insufficient time to get numb, etc. Thus, I have considerable dentist anxiety. nonetheless, Dr. F was fantastic. I needed a crown and two cavities filled in three molars. She did them all in one shot, carefully and meticulously. Given the extent of the work, the procedure took almost two hours, but I never felt any pain at any time. She helpfully acknowledged my anxiety, and checked with me to make sure I was OK at various points. As a dentist, she has a gentle, graceful touch, a real craftswoman. Also a sense of humor (like her jokes about how she herself is a "bad patient."). Kudos, and highly recommended. read more
