My boyfriend and I came to this restaurant and found it really nice and comfortable. The food was delicious, especially their sauces. And, as someone said earlier, the portions are relatively large- we had to take it to go cause we couldn't finish it! I loved their Thai Iced Milk Tea, but their Thai Iced Tea was mediocre. Today was my mother's birthday so I decided to semi-take her out for lunch. She declared that Thai food was her craving so, of course, I immediately hit the Yelp search engine to find a delicious Thai restaurant in the neighbourhood, though in my head, I was already thinking of Chada Thai or Thai New West. But according to Yelp, Ma Now Thai seemed to have better reviews so I thought that warranted a visit. Upon entry, my first impression was that it was a modern, clean, yet casual looking restaurant. Oftentimes, Thai restaurants have that "hole-in-the-wall" type of feel... not this one! I was pleasantly surprised. This is the kind of restaurant you want to take your mother to for her birthday (side note: it was FILLED with motherly-looking people - could this be a secret conglomerate mother's gathering place?). First, we looked at the drink menu and decided to share a Thai iced lemon tea. Granted, I had never tried a Thai iced lemon tea before but it was truly unlike anything I had ever drank! There was a strong taste of black tea leaves but also thrown into the mix was the taste of sweet, dry, and slightly bitter tamarind. Delicious, flavourful, and refreshing! It was $4, however, which erred on the pricey side. Also, the water is served in perhaps the most stylish little cups that I have ever seen at a restaurant. They were so cute! Next, we ordered from their reasonably-priced lunch menu ($10-11), settling on the usual Pad Thai and red curry chicken. While I love me some Pad Thai, I am often very skeptical about ordering this because it is a dish that can be easily disappointing (though when it is done right, it is DONE RIGHT). Luckily, it was unlike those disappointing tomato-based Pad Thais that I am so used to. This one did not have a trace of redness to it, no diluted Ketchup to be found, instead just tasting fragrant and tasty while still being subtle. It was slightly heavy on the bean sprouts but perhaps other, less bean sprout-averse people would enjoy this. The red curry chicken was also delicious, fragrant, herbal, and with the perfect amount of spiciness. It came with some fried wonton wrappers that were incredibly satisfying when dipped into the sauce. Overall, this was a great birthday lunch for both my mother and myself. I am happy to say that we have found a new local Thai restaurant that we will definitely be coming back to! read more

Vegans take note: there is a good amount of vegan options AND it's super good!! We had the Pad Thai and the Yellow Curry - both were fantastic. My significant other and I can agree that this was the best Pad Thai we've ever had. The Yellow Curry was exactly the lemongrass strength I was looking for in a yellow curry but have difficulty finding. So savoury! Our experience with the staff was ideal too. They were attentive yet low-key. Very professional. The interior is modern with warm tones and it's small so I wouldn't feel comfortable bringing a big group of people here. If you come by car it's worth the trip because of the availability of parking as it's located in Poco Place Mall. They have free wi-fi here too. I was absolutely starving last night and craving some Thai food. After a quick Yelp search I stumbled upon Ma Now Thai Kitchen. The restaurant itself is located in the back corner of the Poco Place strip mall. They have plenty of FREE parking so it's always easy to find a spot. Once inside you'll notice right away how modern and clean it is. The lighting and decor are both perfect for a little family run Thai restaurant. As soon as I was seated a pleasant waiter came right over and took my drink order, I ordered the Thai Iced Tea with a lime wedge, the flavour was very unique, I had never tasted an Iced Tea quite like that before, it was very good. For food I started with a three appetizers. To begin I ordered the 2 piece fire-grilled Chicken Satay with the house-peanut sauce, the chicken was super tender, juicy and the sauce was delicious. Secondly I ordered the 2 piece Moo Thod which is essentially fried BBQ pork on a skewer with sweet chili sauce for dipping, this dish is apparently very popular with the street-food vendors in Thailand. Lastly I ordered the house-made deep-fried vegetable Spring Rolls with sweet chili sauce, they were crispy and loaded with flavour. Since I knew I was going to be reviewing Ma Now later on Yelp I ordered two of their most popular entrees first up was the Spicy Pad Thai with chicken, stir-fried noodles, egg and tofu, topped with bean sprouts, peanuts, and a lime wedge, it looked good and tasted even better I highly recommend it! My second entree was the Spicy Noodle bowl with chicken, a perfect combination of flavours, heat, stir fried noodles, vegetables, garlic, chili, and basil this was by far my favourite dish of the evening, everything about it was perfection. To top it all off I ordered the made-in-house Coconut Ice Cream which was light, sweet and the cherry on top to a perfect dining experience. In conclusion I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised about every aspect of the Ma Now Thai Kitchen. The restaurant itself was gorgeous, the staff were very friendly and helpful but most of all the food was spot on. I highly recommend this place if you want some authentic Thai cuisine in the Tri-Cities area. I will be back! read more

I first tried this place last fall and fell in love! From the intimate ambiance to the friendly staff to the mouthwatering delish food with impeccable presentation; this place is top notch. I've had the spring rolls (yum) Spicy noodle chicken (my fave), pad si ew beef and pad Thai tofu. Oh I can't forget the desserts ... FBI is sooo good but the coconut ice cream is to die for. Love this place! Atmosphere is downtown Vancouver casual yet close to home if you live in the tri cities. Delicious food that you can tell is made from scratch, homemade sauces. What is really unique, is you can try traditional Thai dishes from all over Thailand, North and south. Some dishes are closer to Asian and other closer to Tibetan, and other closer to Indian. I stopped in to Ma Now on a whim after my usual Pomme Market grocery shop. Their bright sign has been calling me for months now but being a (shy) vegan I don't often venture into new establishments as I hate asking about vegan options and otherwise calling attention to myself. I do love Thai food though, so after months of wondering I finally went in to Ma Now and was blown away! I went in for take-out but decided to eat in after seeing how nice it was. Atmosphere: 5/5. It's cozy inside, not very large but arranged well and super clean! I love the modern wood detailing, the option to sit at the bar, and the TV with a slideshow of what I assume was Thailand. I wouldn't change anything (except possibly a larger space but then you may lose some charm). Service: 6/5. Greeted right away by a friendly face, provided a take-out and regular menu as I said I had never been there. I also asked if some of the dishes could be made vegan and without hesitation the answer was yes! Their menu's are very nice, clean, well organized, and give a brief background of each region from which they offer dishes. I thought that was a wonderful personal touch. When I decided to stay in and sat at the bar, my second server was equally wonderful and a fellow vegan - hooray! Food: 5/5. What can I say? I loved it. I had the Chili Basil medium spice with rice and it was amazing. The veggies were crisp and bright, the sauce was fresh and (from my limited knowledge) authentic tasting. The dinner portion was adequate, not your typical North American eat half now take half to go meal but it satisfied me and I felt it was a fair portion for the price. I can not wait to try all the other dishes my server recommended. Overall, I was impressed and surprised with Ma Now. It's not often that you get a bright clean modern atmosphere, friendly service, and delicious food. Of course I give bonus points for happily offering vegan options - this means not only can I easily eat here I can take all my non-vegan friends/ family and we can all enjoy a delicious meal together. That alone is worth it's weight in gold. Note on me: I recently moved out to Coquitlam from downtown Van and have been struggling with the lack of mom & pop establishments and diversity downtown offered me. Ordered through door dash.third time ordering from here, sounds like its the best thai I tricities but I disagreee. Pad Thais arrived cold as was most of the food. Prawns were 6 small very small prawns Pad Thai's was actually not as good as Chada Thai nor Tip Thai. Neither was the cashew stir fry . Kind of a disappointmeny when you read that it had such good reviews, maybe people don't know what good Thai food is? Anyway wee will not be ordweing from here again that is for sure . We decided to try this place based on the reviews of yelp. Living in the tri cities area we find that it's difficult to find good food compared to Richmond and Vancouver. We are very pleased to know that we now have a go to place for Tai food close to home We ordered 4 dishes. 1st was Moo Ping (grilled pork skewers) best BBQ that we have had in a Tai restaurant. 2nd dish was prawn skewers rice paper wrap was to thick for the small shrimp. We wouldn't 43comend this dish.3rd dish was Larb minced pork. Very authentic northeast Tai food. The sauce made the dish very refreshing. 4th dish was Massaman Curry(Chicken) Curry sauce was on par with competitors overall the food here is made to order, fresh and not assembly lined cooked. Dropped by Ma Now Thai for an impromptu lunch and was pleasantly surprised. I was somehow under the impression that there would be lunch specials, but unfortunately it's the normal lunch/dinner menu all throughout the day so that was what knocked a star off for me. But other than that, everything was superb. I got the newbie dish - the pad thai - (what I always get first when I try a new Thai restaurant) and was amazed that it didn't taste like ketchup or was too sweet like the other Thai restaurants. The proportion was decent for the price and I barely was able to finish it all. Unfortunately the husband and I opted against trying their home made coconut ice cream, but I noticed that several tables ordered it, and I even overheard one table exclaiming that it was extremely delicious and that they could actually taste chunks of coconut in it. This new Thai restaurant is probably the best and most authentic Thai restaurant in metro Vancouver. My wife is Thai and we eat at many thai restaurants in Vancouver and in Thailand. This place is very similar to real Thai food flavour. Its also seems to use fresh and high quality ingredients. We had most of the salads, Som Tam, Yum Neau, Laab, Yum woon sen. All were great with sharp flavours and nice presentation. Also a selection of more unusual dishes from different regions of Thailand. Tom Yum soup also great. Very friendly Thai owners and staff. One of the cleanest and modern Thai restaurants anywhere, never mind in the Tri-Cities! Service was efficient and friendly. Tried Thai bites which was tasty and priced well. Beef Hung Lay curry was tasty, but portion was small. Could have done without the pork cracklings on this dish and give me more beef! Sometimes, restaurants try to be fancy, when customers just want value. Green curry portion was good, but needed more curry flavour. Tasted a bit bland for this curry. We finished with prawn Pad Thai, and this was tasty and cooked well. We love the decor, but probably wouldn't go back soon as there are lots of other thai places to try. This is my go-to thai place in Coquitlam/Port Coquitlam. For my first visit, we got there around 8pm. There was only one party in the restaurant (It closes at 9pm). We ordered THAI FRIED RICE W/ CHICKEN and MASSAMAN CURRY WITH BEEF (medium spiciness). The curry was full of coconut flavour and very delicious!! The fried rice was also really good. There was something different about the flakiness of the rice (I can't really explain--just try it). The two servers that night were really nice and they didn't make us rush even though they were closing soon. (We knew they were closing soon and we managed to get out before 9pm). My second visit was also pleasant. We got there around 6:30pm, and the place was full. It seemed like the people just got here too (no food on the table..) So two of us sat at the bar and ordered MASSAMAN CURRY WITH BEEF (Again!!!) and KUO KLING . We saw a couple leaving and asked the server if we could move to that table. They were okay about it and cleaned the table promptly for us. Both dishes came with a bowl of rice. Mussaman curry was still very tasty. I think I'd order this every time I visit here.... Kuo Kling was spicy--but good spicy. It's got sauteed chilli. The spiciness hit you after a while. I'd definitely go back for the massaman curry!
