The short: The quality of their work is very good. Their service is horrible. If you want to pay more than average and wait 2 to 3 times longer than other shops, then Maas is the place. If you want a low price, great service and great quality then go anywhere else. Fusion Coating is 1/4 mile down the street on Las Positas. Or go to any other. ( I wish I knew about them sooner) The long: I had 4 wheels coated and they did a great job. They charged me $150 per wheel, more than 3 other shops in the bay area but took 2 to 3 times longer then the other shops promised. Maas promised in 2 weeks while other shops promised 2 days to 1 week. Since they were close to my home, and I really didn't want to deal with traffic, I chose Maas Brothers. (This is before I found Fusion Coating) They were very rude from the beginning. They would not acknowledge me when I walked in the shop or when I was at the counter. I had to interrupt them from their web surfing with a loud "Hi. How are you doing?" before they would even look at me. They would not help me carry in any of the wheels or would not even open the door when I had my hands full. When I asked for any custom work they seem annoyed and created excuses to get out of the work. But since I didn't know any better and was too lazy to search for other shops, I had them complete the work. The work was done well. I was very happy with what they provided. I was happy with the shop until I brought more work for them to coat. Every time I brought a small piece, the would find reasons not do it. One excuse was it was "the exhaust tips would burn up". Another excuse was we could not guarantee if we could hide the scratches. I went to other Power Coating shops and they were all able to complete the work, without any excuses. They all completed the service, with the same quality as Maas Brothers, but in less amount time, cheaper and MUCH better service. Fusion Coating, down the street from Maas brothers, did the same work even though Maas did not want the work. Fusion provided GREAT service. The manager gave me a tour of the facility. Every one, from the front office to the line workers, were friendly. When I buy a product or service, I ask for quality and good service. Maas provides good quality but the service is horrible. Any other powder coating shop can provide the same quality but the difference is the other shops will easily provide better service. read more

Maas Bros. was recommended to me by a high-end luxury car dealership to powder coat my rims (matte black). They warned me that Maas is extremely busy and likely would not be able to complete the work in less than a week and to prepare accordingly for the delay. The dealership went on to say that the quality of work would be worth the wait. When I called in with my request, the Maas team were incredibly transparent and confirmed the timeline. I took the extra step to visit Maas and get their recommendation on the best approach and color. They explained the process/challenges and made recommendations to ensure the best result. I got my wheels back as promised 10 days later and they were BEAUTIFUL...beyond my expectations. If you are looking for five star customer service, you'll likely be disappointed. If you are looking for five star, professional results, you can't do any better than Maas. They have earned the right to refuse/lose business. Don't be one of the unfortunate consumers that puts their ego/entitlement above the result you are seeking. This place has more color and finishes than I had ever seen, or even knew was possible with powder coating. The place is very clean professional, and the staff was very helpful and courteous, as I did not know much about powder coating as this was my first experience having something done. I brought maas Brother a motorcycle frame and subframe, and a bunch of other mixed pieces off of my bike. When I originally went in I thought I wanted matte black, but after speaking with one of the employees (whom was very knowledgable) informed me that if I wanted a finish that was the most maintenance free, and would not trap dust, that a satin finish is the way to go. So I said "let's do that" and I headed home. Then I thought about it and decided I would rather do a color, plus I ended up needed couple more pieces done, and I needed to do some more metal fab on the frame I had dropped off. I ent back to Maas Brothers, and again they where super cool, luckily they had not started on the powder coat yet, just sand blasting. So he let me take the frame home and I dropped off some additional parts, as well I decided on a really cool orange metal flake that he showed me. I didn't eve know you could do metal flake in a powder coat, super cool! I got a call about a week and a half later and all my parts where done, which included frame, subframe, headlight housing, seat frames, moto mount, and a bunch of other things. I was blown away with the finish, it was beautiful, and they plugged, and masked all the contact areas and screw holes. I could not be happier. and the price was VERY reasonable. I would definitely go back and highly recommend Maas Brothers to any one considering power coating work. read more

I just finished brazing my first bike frame, and wanted to give powder coating a try. Everyone told me not to do it - it would look bad, wasn't going to show the lugwork, I'd have to clean the threads, etc., etc. I knew that looking around this wasn't always the case, since I'd seen some beautiful photos of bikes online that had been coated. So, after doing some digging to find out where people were taking their bikes, everyone game me the same name: Maas Brothers. The color selection is massive - if you can think of it, they have it. Also, these guys know their stuff - I walked in and they knew exactly what parts I had (frame, fork and stem) and exactly what areas to mask. Turnaround time was a week, and the price was exactly what they told me (and really reasonable, if you ask me). My frame looks absolutely drop dead gorgeous. Not a single blemish, save for the areas I didn't file as nicely as I should, but the power coating is smooth and beautiful. All of my threads and contact areas were properly masked and clean, and when the frame was brought out to me they put it directly into my car so that it wouldn't have to sit on the ground. Everyone I spoke to was polite, informative, and very straight with me. From now on, all of my future frames will be taken to Maas Brothers. read more

I had the frame of my 1976 CJ-5 powder coated at Maas Brothers. They picked up the frame from Neal's Mufflers in Hayward and returned it when they were done. The rate was very reasonable and the work exceeded my expectations. I have since used Maas Brothers for powder coating most of the old parts after I removed and restored them. This week I had them paint an old ammo can that I had reworked to be my center counsel in the Jeep. The can had traveled the world with me while I was a corpsman attached to the Marines for 5 1/2 years. The can was rusted and worn from years of abuse. it came back from the shop like something fresh out of the factory. I have never been anything but 100% pleased. Three thumbs up. read more

They do good work and get the job done. However, their customer service is very bad, I'm not sure if it is better in person of not, but my 2 dealings with them over the phone were not the most "Customer service friendly" lets say. It was more like I was bugging him by asking for a price. I have used them twice and had a bunch of stuff done. A couple pieces had some blemishes and "fish eyes" as some call them, but they re-powdercoated them for free. A couple of issues I have with them: 1. They charged me $160 to powder coat a front wheel gloss black, I called another shop and got a quote for my second wheel and it was $75-85. 2. I had a set of fxdx dual disc cartridge lowers powder-coated black with the rest of my stuff. They left a bunch of sand down in the forks where the cartridge/fork tube goes. Which if left in there will wear my new front end out 3. They lost my brake lever and It caused the bike to be down for a birthday ride/ present while they resourced and powder-coated another. My recommendation is to call a shop over on the peninsula and get a quote.. You may save enough for some well needed parts. read more

When i first tried looking for a powdercoater i was having some trouble trying to find a good one that wasnt gonna rip me off, i came came across maas when i saw one of there trucks driving around, so i came in and brought 4 sport wheels off my 04 4runner to get powdercoated black, after talking with one of the guys there i decided to get the gloss black powdercoat and the clear coat on top. the turnaround was about 5 business days and when i came and picked up the wheels i was blown away, they looked so amazing!!! that was a year ago and the rims still look good with the exception of many rock rashes from 4wheeling. highly recommend this place, prices seems pretty fair to compared to the competition read more

Mass Bros is a great resource and one of the best Powder/Paint shops out there. They don't cut corners on the powder process like most of the other shops around. The price reflects the work that goes into the job, bead blast and cleaning are most important to the final result as well as something that is going to last. Other shops I've used cut these steps out and while the initial result may be satisfactory, long term results will bring dissatisfaction and ultimately premature paint failure. read more

These guys powder coated a set of rims for me which turned out beautiful. But to get there they had to do the job twice, because the rim material didn't take to powdercoating well (by the way - something they could NOT have predicted). After the first round they called me in to see how I like it and if not they'll do it again. I didn't like the way it turned out, and they went at it again without questioning or change in price which was super reasonable. They also have a cheesy but impressive display of color samples in their main lobby. I never realized how many color varieties are available for powdercoating. The guy helping me - can't remember his name - but one of the brothers I guess - was very nice and helpful in explaining options. Would definitely recommend. read more

First let me say that I have no reason to beleive that Maas bros. does anything but quality work. Powder coating is not a particularly complex process in fact you can do it at home if you are willing to shell out for the equipment. My problem with Maas brothers is their service and pricing. I live in the Livermore area so I really wanted to work with these guys for no other reaon than convenience. First I went by the shop. The guys at the front desk were not doing anyting. In fact I think they were talkng about sports or something. Nobody else was in the shop and they just ignored me. So I looked at some of the sample paint colors etc and waited fro acknowledgement. Nothing. So finally i approached the desk and the guy acts really put out by the interruption. He answers questions with one word answers and is generally dismissive. But I did get a price estimate out of him for a very standard job. $350 to $400. So I think "Hmmm that sounds high." I let the job rest for a few months then call them up and ask for another estimate complete with pictures. Now around $300. And the guy on the phone was rude and dismissive. I had sent them an email requesting a quote but they did not respond. Still seemed high and like I said, I wanted to work with these guys but I decided to get a couple more estimates. I don't need to list the other local shops because frankly that would indicate I am trying to steer business. Suffice it to say, I got the 3 more estimates. All were cheaper and 2 were cheaper by 50%. And they rsponded quickly to my email request for a quote and were excited for the business. So I do not know what the deal is with Maas Brothers. They may have so much business they do not need to be polite or they may not feel they need to provide service to small customers. They may just service large industrial clients. So if you have a smaller job, I would recommend looking elsewhere. There are are other firms that will do a much cheaper job with the same quality or better and they will treat you with common courtesy. read more

Maas brothers can care less about their customers....! I have had 5 of my own bikes and countless of my friends bikes powdered there. It seem like there is always an issue. The last time I went in there I asked for a light gray on my frame but when I picked it up it was BLACK. Not what I asked for. I went ahead I stayed with the color and they made me pay fu price. Anyhow I just went back in there to see if they could work with me on the price to get my bike powdered a different color and they wanted to charge me more this time then I payed all the other times. I WILL NEVER USE MAAS BROTHERS EVER AGAIN AND I WILL DO EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO BE SURE NOBODY I KNOW GOES THERE. Thank you for your time and think twice before you use this company. read more

Incredible customer service, as soon as I walked in everybody was cool and helpful to get me the colors that I wanted for my bike. I ended up chatting with the two guys in the front,I think their names were Karl and Dave,for a bit about race cars, girls, in 4x4's. They quoted me a very reasonable price to get my parts shot and even delivered on their 7 day turnaround policy within 3 days. When I picked them up everything was wrapped individually to protect from scratches and the quality of the finish could not be better. I will definitely be going back with all of my future projects and even am considering getting my classic truck shot as they have a 24 foot blasting booth and oven, the biggest in the Bay Area. If you're looking for a shop that will treat you like one of the guys, this is the place. In fairness to Maas Bros, I've heard from others that their quality of work is good. However, that's not their pitfall. I'll explain my two experiences with Maas Bros to date: Experience #1: I stopped by in person to receive a quote for powder coating 100 small parts. After waiting 10 minutes at the counter without being greeted or acknowledged while the employees shopped on Craigslist, I was finally approached. With little thought, they provided a quote for $10 per part which seemed high. I stopped by another powder coat shop in Hayward who quoted me $3.50 per part and their work was excellent, not to mention good customer service. Experience #2: This time, I called to receive a quote for powder coating a roll bar. Over the phone, I was quoted $400 and a 1.5 week turn-around time. Again, this seemed high so I consulted my trusty shop in Hayward. Sure enough, they performed the job for $150 and less than 2-days turn-around. I insisted on "show car quality" and they delivered - for one third the cost! Again, I'm sure Maas Bros delivers a high quality product. However, I simply can't justify spending three times the money while tolerating mediocre customer service. read more

We were recommended to Maas Brothers by the company that was refinishing our front doors. We hired them to refinish the locks on our front doors. We had a little trouble with them at the beginning - no one told me on the 3 calls I had with them prior to bringing the locks in that we needed to have them completely disassembled. But their work was done beautifully! Our locks look completely brand new in a brushed bronze finish instead of the '80s brass. So happy with them! read more

I had about 200 feet rusty steel 2"x3" steel cap rail for balcony fencing that needed to be cleaned off, primed, and painted. The pieces varied in length from 3 feet to 22 feet. The community pool that I go to had an old diving board base that had been painted and repainted since the early '60s. It was quite corroded and covered with many layers of paint. It was suggested we get it sand blasted and powder coated to better protect it. We shopped several powder coaters and their prices were out of our budget. I took the base to Maas Brothers because I had them do a '36 Chrysler frame in the past, (it came out awesome). Why didn't I just go here first and save all the hassle? They were able to complete the job on budget and ahead of the scheduled time. It came out beautiful and the color matched the pool!!!! I would recommend them to everyone. I've used them twice now. First time a was great experience and results which led me to come back again as a repeat customer. However, the second time, I asked if they could color match. I brought both the wheel I wanted powder coated and the wheel I wanted them to match to (I know batch to batch variation will make matching difficult, I get that which is why I brought the other wheel). I offered to leave the part I wanted them to match to ensure they would get close but I was told and ensured "no, we'll make you happy". The final results was NOT EVEN CLOSE to matching the other wheel. I knew that it wouldn't be exact but I would have been happy if it was close. But this wasn't even close, it wasn't even close to the color on the beer can sample. I asked for a break on cost to have all four wheels recoated, esentially to have the full or partial cost of the one wheel credited but, they said no. There was even a bit of condesending tone in his voice. A little customer service would have been nice. I only go to Maas because it's close and convenient. Since they weren't going to help me out, it's probably be my last time there. I've been to place out in Oakland, it's a further drive but quality is just as nice for a price at almost half. read more

I was referred to this place by my nephew. His friend's dad owns/manages a Big O Tire shop and was supposedly a friend of Maas Bros. This whole transaction was through the Big O Tire shop and not directly with Mass Bros. I was quoted $150 per wheel PLUS $15 per center cap. I chose gloss black for my wheels. The wheels took a little over 1 1/2 weeks to complete because I was told they weren't happy with how the center caps came out and decided to do them over. I picked up the wheels at Big O Tires and was pretty DISAPPOINTED!! The wheels were dusty from the shop but when it was removed, there were SCRATCHES on the surface of the wheels. I was told I can probably send them back to redo but it would take longer. I decided I waited long enough and to just bring them home. I opened up the center caps which were wrapped in foam and those were even worse!!! Mind you they supposedly did them again because they didn't turn out well the first time! Powder coat is supposed to be more durable than paint, if so, why the scratches?!? Now I have to take my loss and baby these wheels to prevent further scratches!! read more
