A few weeks ago my upstairs A/C was being examined at the start of its semi-annual checkup. The associate notified me that the air handler in the attic was dropping its insulation from within, and this would create a problem with continuing the standard semi-annual checkup. This necessitated scheduling an associate on a different day to basically rebuild the air handler. Understandably this was a long project through the day but was completed to our satisfaction. QUALITY: The different associates whom we have seen over a long period of time have been exceptionally professional and courteous. VALUE: Everyone decides what they describe as value. For us it's the confidence that our A/C units will work through the summer and winter year after year. Having a service agreement gives us that peace of mind. SUMMARY: These people have demonstrated exceptional courtesy (every phone call is a new pleasant greeting, every time). One has to have trust in the service people with whom they do business. I called them late in the day because my ac stopped cooling our house and Kevin Edison arrived the following morning at 8:30. Kevin has been to my house a couple times before and he has proven to be a great technician and a terrific diagnostician. He told me that the coils in our compressor were leaking badly. He showed me the area of the leak and told me that it would take 5 to 10 business days for a new coil to arrive from the manufacturer. After almost a week I was told that the part was on backorder and would take 3 to 4 weeks to arrive. I was one cranky old man at that point. The secretary I was speaking with put the manager, Shane, on the phone and I proceeded to tell him how unhappy I was. He told me that he would do everything he could to expedite the arrival of the coils. And he did just that. A few days later the parts arrived and the following day after, Jose, another tech came to do the install. This young man was very professional and did a fantastic job. He was extremely knowledgeable and a really nice guy. He charged and restarted the system and stayed long enough to ensure that everything was running properly and that there were no issues. We are more than happy with the repair and very grateful to Shane and everyone at Ellsworth for a job well done - and for getting it done sooner than we thought. He fixed the leak and filled it with freon the unit was cooling. Then within the same night it was blowing warm air again. Cost so far $1250. Visit next day. Jose came back and said leaking in the same spot. He put a new copper union in place and filled with more freon. This was Ellsworths mistake, but they charged my card without authorization for another $250. Then within hours blowing warm air again. Next visit "senior tech" shows up. We look at the same area that looks like a burnt marshmallow and there is a huge crack in the copper. We could hear and fill the leak. He patches it and cool air starts blowing. Within hours it starts to blow warm air again. Senior tech comes back the next day and now determines the compressor is bad. He can't fix it! Why didn't they determine this on day one when they did the Dianostic check??? So I'm down without air for multiple days and out $1500 as nothing was fixed! I did have several conversations with Jake the Manager. Worthless. Comments like you didn't buy the unit from us. Or we can sell you a new unit for $8500.

So not only were we overcharged but we are out the whole amount because they lied, overcharged, refused to help and FPL time line is now past due. What a piece of work they are. DO NOT USE THEM unless you like liars, being overcharged and totally unhelpful.

I bought a house with a $20,000 new A/C installed by the previous owner less than 2 years old in Fort Myers, FL. In the paperwork part of the quote and invoice included a " 5 year labor warranty ". No further info was supplied to the original owner in the folder provided. There was a refrigerant leak which was attributed to a hole in the outside unit coil. Without quoting they added refrigerant 410A at $ 155 per pound. Refrigerant 410A costs $299 for 25 pounds !! Look it up. Skid prices $230 for 25 pounds. They charge 1300 % markup on the refrigerant making $142 per pound for 3 pounds. To put things in perspective they get better returns immediately for what Bitcoin did in 7 years !! They failed to provide the labor warranty saying that it was the responsibility of the previous owner or myself to notify somebody that the house was sold. None of this was in the paperwork. The Attorney General's office told me that there are other recent warranty complaints. on file against McCarthy On a Friday their office staff said I had a labor warranty. On Monday there was none. I requested the warranty company 's contact info from McCarthy. Cori told me that the info was private to the previous owner.I contacted the previous owner and asked if he received any of this labor warranty info other than what was in the invoice . I asked him to call for the info. Michelle refused to give any info to him either . She accused him of lying to me. She hung up on me !! There was a law regarding guarantees passed in July 2023, 2 months before my purchase. Another law was passed later regarding manufacturer's warranties. McCarthy gets this confused. I have a property management company there that were floored by their excessive price gouging and dishonesty. They wanted $2500 labor to replace the coil. I should have paid zero dollars. I could have bought a new unit for that. I was referred to another company with much more reasonable rates and dealt with the owner directly. The Attorney General's office referred me to 4 other agencies. I am in contact with professional licensing department for the jurisdiction. I am a senior which opens up many other gouging and questionable business concerns. In my area in Philadelphia we report any legal actions taken against my company when renewing licensing every year. Replaced AC with a brand new one 5 years ago. My AC is only…read more5 years old but yet I've had numerious service calls out of pocket. I had a tech come out once a charge me $100 turned the ac off and then came back later in the day and charged another $100 to turn it back on and make sure it was unfrozen... i could have done that myself, he could have called me to check. The AC filter has to be changed every single month. Which it is. If you do not it freezer over. Even with replacing the filter monthly, it continues to freeze over. I've had about 4 service calls total where nothing is done, they find no issues yet it keeps Freezing over. I complained to someone on the phone and they were very aggressive when I was trying to explain and figure out why this keeps happening. I had another company called out and they replaced the capacitor. Honestly it just seems like a they just say it's Florida it's hot blah blah. I'm only trying to keep it at 73-74 I would think buying a brand new ac and only being a few years old wouldn't have this many issues. I'm not impressed with their customer service and charging me double in one day. My ac is currently frozen over yet again.
