Recently got my EV back as it was in the shop for over a month with a battery issue. So I figured it's time to dusk off my old Level 2 charger and get the NEMA plug installed. I checked around for quotes and Zeuz was definitely the cheapest (initially) but turns out there's been a misunderstanding as they thought I already have a NEMA plug and the quote was for a replacement and not a NEW Install. I was a bit turned off by that but whatever the guy is already here, I asked him if he's got the parts to do it initially he said yes. But sure enough once he started, he needed to go to Home Depot for additional parts. Once he's back, it didn't take too long for the install. BUT my charger was showing a RED light which I don't recall but he assured me that it's like that until I plug it in then it should go GREEN. Like an ID10T I tried it and BAM, instant error!! A red light (ODC) came on (in the EV dash) and I quickly unplugged it. Sadly the damage is done! I tried to drive it and the battery % on the EV is now draining 4% every block. That's right, it was 99% then off to the driveway and I'm down to 90%.. 86%.. 82%.. you get the idea. By the time I went down 2 blocks I was worried it wouldn't make it further so I drove it back. By this point I was already swearing at myself for getting the Level 2 Charger install.. I reached out to support but they really couldn't do anything at the time... I ended up discharging the EV battery and hope for the best. Long story short, I drained it completely and re-charge it in the morning. Also strange was the light on my Level 2 charger turned GREEN. So I figured why not let's see if it'll charge it. It works! And now my EV is back to normal. Still not sure what caused the issue initially so I can't point finger at Zeuz as it could be number of things.... Looking back for the price I would pick another company.. read more

Found Zeuz Electric via Yelp and am very happy with the timing and value of the job they did fixing electric car charging circuits that had been insufficiently installed by another, licensed electrician within a year -- causing a fire. Kudos and thanks to Eli the electrician they sent for our project! In short, we charge three cars from two 50A circuits. First, a Grizzl-e Duo smartly splits and balances up to 40A of power between two cars and can draw a maximum of 40A, never more. Usually, it was supplying about 30A or less based on how we charge a Chrysler Pacifica PHEV and a Subaru Solterra. It was plugged into a Leviton NEMA 14-50 outlet another electrician installed in November 2022. At the 13 month mark, it started on fire, blew the 50A circuit and blew the whole house house circuit. The wires sparked and melted. (See photos) The second charger a Grizzl-e Classic. It's on a separate 50A circuit with a Leviton NEMA 14-50 plug installed by same electrician as above, but in April 2023. It regularly supplies 40A to a Tesla, so it's under more stress, and I was concerned it would also start on fire. Reddit and other research said that electricians should definitely know NOT to use the $10 Leviton 14-50 receptacles from HomeDepot because they aren't "industrial" and can't handle the constant load EV charging. That's exactly what Eli of Zuez said when he saw the burned outlet. He also noted the previous electrician used a smaller, lower quality wire than Zuez uses, increasing the heat and stress on the inferior Leviton. I hired them to replace the wiring for both runs and to install a new, "industrial" Bryant model 9450FR receptacles, which cost closer to $65 and are much heftier. You can totally tell the difference in quality as a layperson just by looking at them. Eli actually converted the Grizzl-e Classic to hardwired, which is even better and safer. That saved me money because he could move the Classic's good plug cord to the Duo's destroyed plug. (The Duo's manual says not to hardwire it for some reason, but the Classic's manual says it can be converted to hardwiring.) Always nice when the person you hire shows efficient thinking, on the fly. Saved time and money by using the Classic's plug cord. This company is very good with customer service. I had a 240 outlet installed to charge my Tesla a few months back. For whatever reason it stopped providing the maximum amperage during charging. Meaning it would charge at about half the speed, which was frustrating. We troubleshoot and figure out it is the plug itself overheating. Nothing to do with the install just a faulty plug. Eli came over with a more expensive/better quality plug just to make sure it wouldn't malfunction again free of charge. This company actually cares about its customers. I asked Eli to come to give me an estimate. We scheduled for 4pm on Monday and he came out on time at 4pm. I was happy with his explanation of services and how he was going to work and scheduled him to come out the next morning Tuesday at 7:30am. What time did he show up?.... 7:30am. It is hard to find a contractor who is reliable and shows up when they say they'll show up. I asked Eli to install four ceiling fans and four recessed lightings. One of the ceiling fans was in the living room which was a 66" fan and was 13' high. I was impressed with how Eli was able to do this all by himself, other places said they needed two people. The other three ceiling fans were a piece of cake for them as they were in 10' ceilings in the bedrooms and only 54" fans. For the recessed lighting, there weren't any holes and Eli made clean cuts in the bedroom ceilings ran the wires and connected them to the switches. He did this expertly and the work was clean and well done. I'm very pleased with the work that he has done and am already recommending Eli to neighbors and friends. I'll also use him again for any future work. In fact I'm already planning for him to come out to do the exterior porch ceiling fan and kitchen pendant lights.
