We were introduced to Scott by a colleague of mine who also used him and was happy with him. And we remain grateful for that introduction. Looking back, I can see that we continued using Scott for 4 primary reasons: 1- We trust him 2- We value his expertise 3- We enjoy working with him 4- We don't have time to handle getting new cars ourselves. We first used Scott in 2021. After reviewing what my wife wanted in her X5, he rightly advised that we go with a custom build. Scott handled everything from the negotiation of the deal to placing the order to finalizing the documents which we simply DocuSigned before the car was delivered to our home. Throughout the process, Scott tracked the progress of the car build and kept us updated, and my wife was extremely happy with the car she ended up with. Despite the car being a custom build, Scott was able to get it at 9K below MSRP at a time when car prices were already starting to get somewhat crazy. Scott's involvement didn't stop with the car delivery. The car had some tree sap on one of the mirrors, and he ensured the dealer took care of that as well. The second time we used Scott was toward the end of 2023. The last few months of 2023 were trying for us as a family with the loss of my father, then a close uncle, then our dog, and then my wife's stepfather. Those losses combined with our jobs made it difficult for us to work with Scott with much lead time. We ended up asking him to find my wife a 2024 X5 matching a specific build and he literally had days right before Christmas to do it. And he DID it. This time, the new car was again 8-9K below MSRP. And Scott again took care of handling everything from finding the car which he did in a weekend, to negotiating the deal, to finalizing the documents for us to DocuSign, and finally ensuring the car was delivered again to our home. With everything we had going on in our lives and our jobs, I can say without the shadow of a doubt that if it weren't for Scott, my wife would not have been able to get a new car by end of 2023. We highly recommend Scott, much like he was highly recommended to us. And we are grateful for his good nature and calm dealing with our constraints in 2023 because we know that couldn't have been easy for him. In a world where everything is inflated, Scott is one of the few exceptions where the value you receive far outweighs the fee you pay.

I did exactly that and never received any response. To recap, my car was in for an engine recall. While I was unavailable, my father brought it in. The dealership claimed the rear calipers were frozen and needed replacement. What makes this unacceptable is that they also replaced my rear rotors and brake pads, which were only a couple of months old and in like-new condition. I had just paid good money for those parts. There was no valid reason for them to be replaced, yet I was charged for parts and labor anyway. After Monica Ramirez, Director of Business Development, responded on Yelp, I emailed the address provided and clearly explained that this was not just general dissatisfaction. I asked for a clear explanation of why nearly new brake components were replaced and what would be done to address the unnecessary charges. I made it clear I was looking for resolution, not just conversation. They never replied. To me, inviting a customer to reach out and then ignoring them is just as telling as the original issue. It reinforces the feeling that they were happy to say the right thing publicly but had no intention of actually resolving the problem privately. This shop is crooked. They were replacing my engine due to recall issues. I wasn't available at the time so my father brought my car in. They told him that the rear calipers were frozen as well and needed to be replaced. I had just replaced the rear rotors and break pads. Not only did they replace the calipers, but they also decided my new rear rotors and brake pads needed to be replaced as well. It was obvious that the rotors and pads were brand new, but they decide to replace them anyway. I paid good money for the pads that were on there for only a couple of months. They just took them off and did who knows what with them just to make a few extra bucks in labor and parts. ONLY the calipers needed to be replaced but they went ahead and took advantage of my father. I feel VERY cheated and even stolen from. I'll never bring my car there again.

The owner, Rick, then invited me to share quotes showing how much less other shops charged for labor. I sent over the first one from a private shop for, and it was ignored because it was in NH. I sent over a second from an Audi dealer in MA, and it was once again rejected because even though the labor was cheaper, the overall cost was higher (due to pricier manufacturer parts, which was irrelevant to my point). I sent over a third quote for another private shop in North Chelmsford, which not only met Rick's criteria but even showed the exact, significantly fewer labor hours required to install spark plugs, with the cheaper cost associated with it; and then he stopped responding. After he stopped responding, Rick left a dismissive response on my review that evaded my complaint. I sent three quotes all showing you don't need 3 hours to replace spark plugs, the first two got denied due to exaggerated criteria that the owner did not communicate to me, and the third (first one to meet all his criteria) was flat out ignored. This place charges you for more labor than they actually need, and won't take accountability for it. If you don't believe me with all these other 5-star reviews, that's alright. I just suggest that when you bring your car, do yourself a favor and compare your quote from AE to a few other shops in the area. You will see plain as day that they charge you for extra hours generously. Honestly, I'm glad the owner sent me on a goose hunt for other quotes- they all reinforced how much I just got fleeced. I hope future customers will make the same comparisons and push back on AE's labor the way I should have to begin with.

I went for an oil change and state inspection sticker and that day they must have been told to move more wipers. Mike claimed he couldn't pass my car for inspection because the rear wiper blade was torn. Just 30 seconds prior, I watched him tell the customer before me (also a woman) that she needed a wiper replacement as well. I told him I'd take my car up the street to get the inspection sticker instead and didn't need the wiper. He said Toyota has cameras for state inspections and by law they can't let it slide. Sure, buddy. I got my car and turned on the rear wiper to inspect it -- lo and behold, no torn wiper. LIES! I head just up the street for my state inspection sticker and was in and out of there in 15 minutes with no issues and no mention of a torn wiper and how strange - the other state inspection establishment also had cameras to ensure quality inspections. Beware folks, these guys are crooks. I've never taken my car to be serviced there without them saying that my van has some sort of issue and them trying to sell me on things I don't need. Disgusting!

The whole thing took about 3 hours, which was reasonable. Then after I left, I started noticing a new rattling sound - my theory was that in doing the inspection and brake repair, a clasp or bracket got a little loose, which happens. I brought it back a few days later, and they immediately knew what the problem was (loose exhaust bracket). Mike was really friendly about it, they fixed it for free, and I was in and out in about half an hour. I really appreciated the integrity of resolving the issue so quickly and easily, and for free. (and by the way, I went to Lex spa next door for a pedicure during the long brake service - highly recommend!)
