If you're wondering if you should buy a car from Waltham Auto Gallery, stop wondering and just go…read moredo it. They are incredible and I'm so happy I bought from them. For reference: I'm a 30yo single woman who has been driving since I was 15, but never owned a car. It's the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, so everything is screwed up, and I really needed to buy a car but was having a really hard time. I had narrowed it down to a list of about 4-5 cars that I would want to test drive, but the pandemic made that impossible. I was going through this process alone. And the dealerships were being VERY annoying. Besides having wishy-washy reviews, they didn't email me back for days. I decided it would be best to just work with a dealership that had a stellar reputation. That way, I'd have the best chance of getting a good value on a used car, and work with people who were truly interested in earning my business. Waltham Auto Gallery showed up over and over during my search, with nothing but 5 star-reviews. I checked the website and saw a car that was on my shortlist of options - a 2017 Kia with only 20,000 miles on it. I called. Daphne picked up immediately. She was so friendly, and said it would be fine if I came by that day to test drive the car. When I arrived, she gave me time to just look it over myself and ask her questions. We were all distanced/masked, but she did offer for one of their employees (I'm so sorry I can't remember his name, he was awesome) to accompany me in the car, to help guide the drive and answer questions. I agreed, and he sat in the back with the windows down (we were masked.) I wanna emphasize: I knew nothing about buying a car until about 2 weeks before I bought one. Daphne was so patient with me and answered all my questions, even the dumbest ones. She repeated herself and clarified when I didn't understand. I felt comfortable negotiating with her (although the price was perfectly reasonable to begin with) and she was very forthcoming with details about the car. She was prompt in answering both phone calls and emails. She was transparent about the delays at the registry and how long it would take to register the car, but they took care of it, and when I went to pick up the car, they'd put on the plates and taken it to get inspected. I've been driving the car for a month now with absolutely no issues. Plus: my stepmother is one of the most insane clean-freaks I've ever known. When she sat in the car on the day I brought it home, she remarked that she thought it was a new car because it was so clean. (Now, it's covered in dog hair. Oops!) Lastly: when I was signing on the car, a woman and her husband came to look at a minivan. Daphne remembered them from 2 years ago when they'd bought a car, and the woman said they still had/loved that car and were back for another one. This shows 1. the connection that they have with their customers, and 2. that the car/service is good enough to bring back repeat customers. Waltham Auto Gallery is AWESOME. Go buy a car from them!

Great guys and their process was streamlined & easy. Details of my stellar experience: Firstly, they answered my emails immediately. I figured they may go into a black hole as dealers may use the phone more but the opposite happened. Every question or concern was addressed quickly; I never waited around for an answer. Secondly, they were extremely welcoming and let me try out about 5-6 different cars in one afternoon (rapid fire.. one after another). I had a feeling my car was on the lot but wasn't sure which one would be "it". They let me test the cars out and make my own determination. I even remember them pointing me to a lower priced car over a more expensive one when I was making my final decision. When I found the car I loved, I drove it twice that day. On the second drive, I remembered I had a work call to take and they let me sit in their office at their desk and take my call w my headphones and laptop. No judgment at all that I lost track of time. They were extremely accommodating but in a very relaxed way. I am lucky they knew to buy this car from the auction because somehow I got a car that drives brand new for $6995! The car is old but it's almost impossible to tell. I've been showing it off for 2 weeks and asking friends an family what year it is. They all thought it was 8-10 years newer. Thirdly, once I picked the car they were quick with the paperwork but patient with me getting all the loan details sorted out. They even advocated that I go with my own credit union over any banks they had relationships with. They didn't even ask me for a deposit which was surprising but it helped build trust between us; they new I would come through with the check. I didn't even try to negotiate because I knew the car was priced right and I felt very comfortable that I was getting a great deal. Love the car & so glad they saw this gem and picked it up! It drives amazing & they even put in a new battery right before I got it. PS - I used to own a 2015 ILX and I can hardly tell the difference with this 2004 TSX. It's like I got the same car for half the price! I'm still shocked. :)

We live in Maynard and he let us take the car home for the night to let our mechanic look at it. We bought the Honda and love it. When my husband called to let David know, his response was, "oh good I'm so glad that you found something". David is a class act and a very honest man. We highly recommend Prospect Auto Sales.

I used the Cahpow service to help find a second hand vehicle in the less than $10k range. My main…read morereason for hiring Cahpow was that I wanted help finding a reliable car because I know nothing about cars. I would strongly suggest not using them for this price range, it is not their specialty and there is no value for money. I had expected them to filter out the poor quality cars but, as I found out after paying the $500 fee, they are only able to do Google searches and provide you with basic things like mileage and a CarFax report (which dealerships will provide on their websites - very easy for you to do yourself). There was also no unprompted advice. It was always me doing research about different makes and models which, when I asked them about my thoughts, they would then just agree with them. When I started inspecting the short list of possible cars, the 2nd vehicle was a mess. It had the engine light on, the door handle fell off when I went to hop in the car and it was anything but reliable. When I emailed to say I was unhappy, that they weren't meeting the 1 objective I'd set out for them to do (a reliable car) and asked for my money back I was met with hostile responses. I tried to reason with them, and said a partial refund would be sufficient given the work to date but I was sent a screenshot of the website that says no refunds and basically told too bad. They never found me a suitable vehicle and have kept the full fees for finding me a car. Don't make my mistake! If you're uncomfortable shopping for a 2nd hand car do NOT spend the money on Cahpow. Instead pay a mechanic to do a detailed pre-purchase check. You'll be able to have a mechanic look over 4-5 cars for the same price as Cahpow. And if you're worried about negotiating, purchase from one of the several companies that have no price negotiations.

Within the first week, I was already seeking repairs, and the problems continued over time. What I expected to be a reliable vehicle became an expensive and frustrating experience. I spent a significant amount of time dealing with repairs, diagnostics, and mechanical issues that arose shortly after purchase. The repair costs ultimately amounted to roughly two-thirds of the vehicle's purchase price. In addition to the financial burden, the amount of time and effort required to address the ongoing issues was substantial. What should have been a straightforward vehicle purchase turned into a lengthy and stressful process. I encourage anyone shopping for a used vehicle to obtain an independent pre-purchase inspection and thoroughly evaluate the vehicle before making a decision. My experience with Penske has been nothing but positive. I couldn't have asked for better quality for customer service and truck. The representatives were easy to get on the phone and were amenable to all the changes I had to make to my original orders (dates, credit card, and additional moving supplies). And though I could have done without the Saturday and Sunday 11am calls (from a real person!), it's nice to know that someone's working that hard over the weekend to check up on you. As for the truck, I have absolutely no complaints. It looked brand-new, with barely 3000 miles on it. The interior was clean and it was easy to drive. I felt perfectly safe despite the pouring rain on a dark highway after dusk. It was definitely very different from my friend's experience with U-Haul. It could have been a commercial for Penske. We were leaving from the same place at exactly the same time. As I was about to get on the road, I got a call from her that her U-Haul trailer was broken (it was so old that it came with a broken left-turn light, but the U-Haul folks had foisted it on her anyway). A joint was broken and scraping on the road so she couldn't even pull out of the driveway. Needless to say, she unloaded the trailer, returned it to U-Haul, and got a Penske truck within the hour. Her truck was brand-new, too. You really can't go wrong with Penske. My only tips: Get a lock and inquire about the AAA discount. It can be one of those Master locks that you used on your locker, but it's absolutely necessary. The AAA discount is worth it.

That 16' truck hauled all our stuff and a car carrier through a tornado warning/sever thunderstorm in Kansas, a mountain pass in Vail, CO, and the winding roads/108 degrees of Death Valley, CA without any problems whatsoever! If it can get through that, it can truly handle anything. The customer service was excellent, the price was cheaper than Uhaul, and the truck was no problem to drive. Thank you Penske, I will definitely use this company again.
