If you're wondering if you should buy a car from Waltham Auto Gallery, stop wondering and just go…read moredo it. They are incredible and I'm so happy I bought from them. For reference: I'm a 30yo single woman who has been driving since I was 15, but never owned a car. It's the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, so everything is screwed up, and I really needed to buy a car but was having a really hard time. I had narrowed it down to a list of about 4-5 cars that I would want to test drive, but the pandemic made that impossible. I was going through this process alone. And the dealerships were being VERY annoying. Besides having wishy-washy reviews, they didn't email me back for days. I decided it would be best to just work with a dealership that had a stellar reputation. That way, I'd have the best chance of getting a good value on a used car, and work with people who were truly interested in earning my business. Waltham Auto Gallery showed up over and over during my search, with nothing but 5 star-reviews. I checked the website and saw a car that was on my shortlist of options - a 2017 Kia with only 20,000 miles on it. I called. Daphne picked up immediately. She was so friendly, and said it would be fine if I came by that day to test drive the car. When I arrived, she gave me time to just look it over myself and ask her questions. We were all distanced/masked, but she did offer for one of their employees (I'm so sorry I can't remember his name, he was awesome) to accompany me in the car, to help guide the drive and answer questions. I agreed, and he sat in the back with the windows down (we were masked.) I wanna emphasize: I knew nothing about buying a car until about 2 weeks before I bought one. Daphne was so patient with me and answered all my questions, even the dumbest ones. She repeated herself and clarified when I didn't understand. I felt comfortable negotiating with her (although the price was perfectly reasonable to begin with) and she was very forthcoming with details about the car. She was prompt in answering both phone calls and emails. She was transparent about the delays at the registry and how long it would take to register the car, but they took care of it, and when I went to pick up the car, they'd put on the plates and taken it to get inspected. I've been driving the car for a month now with absolutely no issues. Plus: my stepmother is one of the most insane clean-freaks I've ever known. When she sat in the car on the day I brought it home, she remarked that she thought it was a new car because it was so clean. (Now, it's covered in dog hair. Oops!) Lastly: when I was signing on the car, a woman and her husband came to look at a minivan. Daphne remembered them from 2 years ago when they'd bought a car, and the woman said they still had/loved that car and were back for another one. This shows 1. the connection that they have with their customers, and 2. that the car/service is good enough to bring back repeat customers. Waltham Auto Gallery is AWESOME. Go buy a car from them!

Deceptive pricing and business practices, while also trying to pin the blame on me for not acting sooner when it was their fault for not even having the car ready when I was. So, I came here to check out a Tesla Model 3 - red on 4/8. Saw it was listed at 22,992 on cargurus and checked their website and it was also listed as that. They had a disclaimer note stating that original price was 24,992 and when factoring both EV rebates, it would be 17,992. So doing the math, the EV rebate price SHOULD be 15,992 as the listed price was 22,992. So I scheduled a test drive, confirmed the appointment and when I arrived - the car wasn't charged and not ready. They also don't do any out the door pricing or trade in evaluations unless you want to buy the car - but why would I buy the car without actually testing it out?!! But anyways I was like, its cool, mistakes happen the car is nice, I'll come back tomorrow. Anyways, i schedule an appointment the next day and they have it ready. Test drive it, looks and feels good, I tell them i want to discuss the purchase. Well guess what? the price just went back to 24,992 before rebates. Huh?! They jacked up the price to 2k overnight cause of "market" conditions, but that just seems to coincidental. This was after I had to explain the breakdown and show them the pricing they had originally, as they conveniently modified their pricing overnight to reflect 17,992. Luckily Cars.com has a price tracker and showed the price was going down since march 22 from 26k , until the day I arrived (4/9) went it shows the "rebate price" of 17,992. "Market conditions" really just meant I was ready to buy, and they were ready take advantage. At least that's the perception I had, given the situation here. They even had the gall to say I should have bought the car yesterday for that previous price - but they were the ones who didn't even have the car ready to go for a test drive! I walked out angry as they thought they could take advantage of me and treat me like I'm stupid. Also, no manager came over to resolve or talk with me, so that shows how little they actually care about customer service, especially when it's their fault. Deceptive, dishonest and disgusted - what a waste of time and only confirms the stereotype of shady business. Avoid this place like the plague - they don't care about you, they only care about how much you are going to spend and then try to take more from you. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to remove my review or discredit me, but that only further proves my point.

Before I get into the bad, here are some positives about Cityside Subaru. And until my most recent…read morecar incident, I would have raved about these strengths to anyone who needed a Subaru. When I bought my car, my interactions with Flavio, one of the sales representatives, was so great that I still remember him 8 years later. I remember how respectful he was with my parents (who came with me to help with the process), how he was not pushy for us to buy at Subaru, and how he encouraged us to make a sound decision by continuing our search with the two other dealerships on our lists. I don't know if he still works there, but I remember recommending Cityside Subaru / Flavio to friends when they were looking at an impreza model (and they also reported having a positive interaction with him). Also the customer service reps I had spoken with before, during, and after my car gets service usually are pretty approachable for my questions. The waiting area is pretty nice and filled with snacks. I work nearby, so this Belmont location has always been convenient for me. So then why such a bad score? Well, recently I had an incident where a belt snapped - and it was after being replaced two years ago as well as having a routine maintenance check up only one month ago. The inspection apparently passed at the time. I don't know if it's faulty material or faulty labor, but my car found itself with a shredded belt resulting in engine failure a week ago from today. When I called to tell Subaru about this, all the rep did was shrug and agree this seemed too soon to happen. And maybe it was a faulty material or bad labor, who can tell, right? Despite the rep listening to me, the end result seemed to be like there was nothing Subaru could to do. Now that I think about it, I don't think there even was an apology from the rep's end besides "things like this happen." Sure, ok that may be true. Things DO happen and faulty car parts exist, so freaking Cityside Subaru should at least have some kind of policy to support the customer when they do. I know next to nothing about cars, and the engine is never opened until I bring it to the car maintenance, so I know for sure this can't be my fault. Yet to be fair, I was not sure what I was expecting from Cityside - maybe a credit for a future inspection (not like I would come back...) or tire rotation or something? Maybe even an acknowledgement Subaru messed up and a reimbursement for at least part of my previous inspection?! I have no idea to be honest. After reflecting on that call, I did feel unsupported as a customer, especially as a loyal customer who has been getting routined maintenance appointments with them since 2019. This is already a long review, but two years ago, I had a similar situation in that my car went in for inspection, had a battery replaced, and then that battery DIED a month later. When I brought the car for a battery check, they did not reimbursement or claim it was their faulty material, but recharged the battery and "gave it back" by keeping it in my car trunk. I'm not sure why they thought I would want it back, and they didnt even ask if I would want to keep it. They also kept trying to blame me for it, saying Ieft the car lights on...but the lights turn off automatically so I don't understand how that is my fault? After reading other people's reviews here on yelp, it truly seems like other people have had issues with Cityside Subaru giving them bad parts, especially batteries. I'm so disappointed to give such a bad review to Cityside. Like I wrote earlier, there clearly were a lot of reasons I continued to get my car serviced here. But their policies (or lack there of) do not support the customer and they clearly use bad car parts. What happened to my car this last time threatened my safety, and the lack of any support loses my trust with them. I think I'll check out the MetroWest dealership for the next time my car needs a service. And maybe you should too if you need your Subaru inspected to ensure your own safety when driving.

The first time, our engine wouldn't turn on and it was because rats had chewed through the wires. Apparently this is a known issue with Honda cars because they use soy-based plastic wiring. They quoted us over $6k to do the repair. Our insurance said that dealerships always overprice their repairs and they won't cover any repairs by dealerships for that reason. We went with a different auto repair shop, which quoted us over a thousand dollars less to do the repair. The second time, our rear windshield shattered for no reason. This is also a known issue with Honda HRV cars, but the dealership refused to cover it under warranty because they are only doing it for 2023 and 2024 cars. However, it's definitely a known issue because it's the same car and earlier models had the same issue. We have a six month old baby, which is why we bought the car. So thankful our baby was not in the car when the rear windshield shattered. We will never buy a Honda again.
