The food is authentic and amazing! The service is great! Very hole in the wall feel but a great atmosphere overall!

Stumbled across the listing for this gem on Yelp. I've been working my way toward Vegetarianism, so I was hoping this might be a good option. Centrally located in Owensvile, Mo., literally steps away from the main drag. The owner greeted us immediately and answered MANY questions about; ingredients, sourcing of food and options of preparation. He was consistently nice and informative as well as helpful. While there were no vegetarian options on the menu and I did want to try their locally sourced beef so it was suggested that I order their Beef with Seasonal Vegetables and less meat. I did, and forked some off to my husband and held a few pieces for another meal later. I also asked for my choice to be prepared spicy and was asked what level spicy did I favor. A nice touch, I thought. Husband ordered the same but with Pork and no extra spice. You get a choice of plain Jasmine rice or Fried rice with garlic. I'm not a huge rice fan but it was good quality rice, cooked just right. The food was delicious and very fresh tasting, as they source many of their veggies locally. The dish included Taro root which I have never had. To drink was a delicious and delicate orange Pekoe tea with ginger and lightly sweetened with honey. Yum. Their pics on Yelp show a Bloody Mary bar on Sundays but this has changed with liquor license laws on Sundays. Which as everyone who reads my reviews knows, I would normally take a star off for that but I was just so dang impressed with Food quality and service. They have alcohol 6 days a week but not Sunday. After the meal dessert was suggested and as they had some unusual flavors of tropical and Filipino inspired ice creams, we partook of these and got the 3 scoop dish with Coconut, Mango and Parden(I think) of which I had never heard. The dish was served with A crispy coconut flavored cookie and 2 biscotti type things. More than enough for us to share. After our meal, both cooks came out and asked us how we liked our meal. When they saw that I had put some meat aside, I explained that I was not eating too much meat, I was told that I could order vegetables only the next time. Even though the tea was a specialty mix of their own, there were free refills. The tab with 2 full meals, dessert and the drink was $33. Very reasonable in this day and time. The portions are not huge but more than adequate. I only ate a bit of rice and was full and satisfied with just the vegs and small amount of meat that I consumed and dessert of course. So many flavors. We will definitely go back. The restaurant menu lists Filipino influences. I don't know why it wasn't packed. You should check it out.

Owensville is truly lucky to have Mabuhay. This Veteran-owned restaurant is a unique dining experience where you can taste delish food from all over Asia and the pacific. Chef Mandy and her staff are so welcoming and treat you like family from the minute you walk in the door. All of the dishes are made to order with fresh ingredients and you can truly taste the difference. Mandy makes the best lumpia I've ever had and noodles I had yesterday were absolutely delicious!

Good people! Great food! Different but nice vibe and ambience…read more Went with a friend and we were both greeted warmly by all. Questions about the food were answered with a genuine smile. We both ordered the Filipino style chicken BBQ. To me it was somewhat similar to chicken teriyaki but better. I enjoyed everything on the plate. They all paired well together. I found myself eating the cabbage before anything else. I dipped it into the side cup of vinegar type sauce. My friend asked staff what the sauce was for and was told it's to dip the chicken in but he eats it on everything. . I took his advice and dipped my chicken in it and the combination was similar to a sweet and sour chicken. I also poured a little on my rice and that taste was good as well. The inside of the place has a cool relaxing vibe. The only problem I had that I drove past the restaurant twice without noticing it. I have added pictures from across the street hopefully that's helpful to someone else. I will definitely return soon if not this upcoming week for lunch.

Although the wait was quite long (25 minutes), the wait was worth it! The chicken was cooked perfectly (not dry at all) and the sauce seasoned and sweetened (but not too much!) the chicken to perfection! The Java rice was also absolutely heavenly, and the cabbage atchara/seasoned cucumbers added a freshness that accentuated every bite. Service was super friendly, and there was also a cute and homey set up with sofas, fun chairs, and a coffee table (dining tables were further inside of the restaurant). Would be a great spot to spend time/study!

The slightly sweet bun perfectly paired with the pork meat. The Shish Kabobs were perfectly seasoned and grilled. For drinks we had the Bunko Pandan latte and their strawberry cheesecake latte. Both the drinks were perfectly balanced and wasn't too sweet. We went for a late brunch and ended up missing out on their delicious pastries. Looking forward to being back and trying the rest of their menu. The service was prompt and this place is great for larger groups as well.

We've only tried the restaurant side but one of these days, I will try their cafe and the many offerings. They were busy when we came, had a huge party but they were able to seat us right away. The place was lovely with space to lounge around in the sofa. We started with some lumpiang Shanghai. While that didn't blow me away, the rest of our meal did. I had the pork adobo and my husband ordered the pancit. The serving is enough for 2 people but it was a great way to try different things and have some leftover for the next day. I had both leftovers. The pancit was really good. Not dry and not oily either, just right. Staff were friendly and pleasant. I can't wait to come back!

The staff were incredibly friendly. I decided to order some lumpia to go, and while they were preparing it, I took some time to browse the bakery and market section. I ended up grabbing several bag of chips and a slice of cake as well. The lumpia were perfectly crispy with great flavor, and the cake was incredibly moist. I know it's hard to compare restaurant food to home-cooked meals, and I wasn't expecting to be wowed. "Mid" would've been fine, but unfortunately, this fell below that for us. We ordered the menudo, chicken adobo, bangus, and lechon. Both the menudo and chicken adobo were noticeably sweet and not in a subtle way. The bangus only came as half with the combo (I'm not sure if that's standard), which was a bit disappointing since I'm used to getting a whole bangus. The lechon had a slightly off taste possibly from the oil used. I ended up cutting it up and putting it in the air fryer, which helped a bit, especially with Mang Tomas. My kids were excited for the ube bread, but there was barely any ube. Thankfully, I had ube jam at home to add more. That said, I'm still glad this restaurant is here representing the Filipino community. It's wonderful that they host gatherings and bring people together. I do think there's room for improvement, especially when it comes to showcasing Filipino food well for those who may be trying it for the first time.

I would like to preface this review by saying that I lived in Hawaii for five years. I have always been a plate lunch enthusiast. I was happy to see that Buzz's menu offers everything you could want to make a delicious meal reminiscent of the islands. Traditionally, plate lunch includes two scoops of rice, a scoop of mac salad, and a protein. Sticky sweet teriyaki sauce on chicken or steak, or crispy chicken katsu, or maybe Kalua pork are all good options. I went with the kalbi ribs and garlic shrimp. The kalbi was done well. The garlic shrimp missed the mark for me. In fairness, my frame of reference is Giovanni's shrimp truck on the North Shore of Hawaii. This shrimp was dry and was missing the garlic butter sauce. We also tried the lumpia, manapua, kalua sandwich, and an order of loaded fries. This is just a small portion of their amazing menu. I'm confident there is something for everyone. My favorite part of the meal were the signature Dole Whip. I was momentarily transported back to the Dole pineapple plantation! If you're more adventurous the lilikoi are absolutely amazing!! BUT entering, there was like, no aloha spirit, the vibes were so off, the music selected wasn't even, at least modern Island reggae, and the lights were really dim. That is outside of the HUGE wait times of DoorDash orders coming through and stalling the people waiting in line to order. The staff were working HARD to get through the line, but they were just overworked. We got an order of garlic shrimp that came with rice, mac salad, and a pineapple slice for some reason. We also ordered the Poke Bomb Flight which is fried tofu skins filled with rice and topped with poke. The Poke Bomb Flight, or inari, was pretty good! I liked the flavor of the poke and it was a great one bite situation. The garlic shrimp however was small - like not even plate lunch servings. It was 5 pieces of shrimp, two small scoops of rice, and mayo heavy mac salad. They must be doing something right though with all those DoorDash orders, but we won't be coming back to try more.
