The collision estimator, Duran Martinez, was completely out of pocket when speaking with me. I did not appreciate the sarcastic attitude and tone, completely unnecessary. As for the General Manager, Mark Renjard. He said that I am not a customer because I have not paid for anything. How am I suppose to do business without getting a quote on the damage to my vehicle? I had a brake squeaking issue (backing up only) ever since I bought my Landcruiser in Dec. 2025. It was brand new, so what the heck, right? Anyways, I scheduled an appointment and they switched out my front brakes under warranty. No more squeaks. My people were courteous and helpful people. A long trip out of town had me waiting and Toyota Corp had to get ahead of this since they just reintroduced Landcruiser back to the market and had no history of issues. I totally HATE leaving a single star. As with all of my reviews, I leave my emotion out of the rating, despite that it can be difficult. The single star here is based solely on our experience with this dealership. First, we've bought two vehicles here to the tune of about $70K. We liked the place. Did we get great deals? No. But they made it fairly easy, other than the finance guy, who swore that he could get us a better interest rate to no avail. He also made a hard sale on an extended warranty because "There is three miles of wiring in every car for the computer system," to which I replied "Well, I sincerely hope that Toyota used decent wiring, because if you're trying to sell me an additional warranty before we drive off the lot, that makes me nervous." But I digress. The two experiences since then prompted me to buy cars (only) online through Carvana. The first experience was the service. Plainly and simply, we brought the vehicle in for Toyota Care (oil change, etc.) and the service dude delivered hard pressure for us to buy various filters. I told him "I have cabin and air filters in my own garage that I can install myself." It's true. I'm a dork that way, and it's mainly because changing cabin and air filters isn't rocket science, and I can do it without the $50 add-on charge. The service guy claimed that I would void all factory warranties by installing these myself. After a call to Toyota, I learned that he was as full of it as a Christmas Turkey. It's a shame, because I now refuse to take our cars there for any service (I drive an Avalon' ; wife drives a Lexus; daughter drives a Rav 4). They lost a bit of money because of their pressured and desperate approach. The second and final experience involved us going to this place to buy a used car for our daughter. They had a creampie on the lot -- a grandma car that was a little old but with very few miles and in pristine condition. The sales guy told us that he turned down two previous offers for the car because it was such a great deal. (They both were willing to pay sticker, according to him.) Well, I've been in sales and advertising ... and I have friends and relatives who sell cars for a living, and they all confirmed to me that he was trying to gouge us. So, we made an offer that we hoped would get the deal moving, and he said "Let me go talk to my manager." (Yeah, right.) After about 15 minutes of sitting in a glass office, I officially became insulted. Did the guy go "talk to the manager?" No. Come to find out, he was out on the lot trying to gouge someone else. We left, and on the way out, we poked our heads in the manager's office and let him know how the cow ate the cabbage. He acted confused and worried, but he would never win an Oscar. Truth is, he didn't care. And neither did the sales guy. Lesson learned. I see Mac Haik plates on cars all the time. If you've had a good experience there, more power to you. But our experiences here have caused us to avoid car dealerships at all costs. In other words, Mac Haik Toyota has ruined (our) business with all other brick-and-mortar dealers. Yes. I drove 1.5 hours after being promised a "can't miss" deal and lower financing, but the car was offered at MSRP and the APR was only 0.5% better than my credit union. Another Toyota dealer matched their "deal" over the phone, and despite TWO recent family purchases here, there was no recognition of loyalty. Don't trust claims that you're getting an exclusive deal you won't find elsewhere. They also lied about what they pulled for my credit score. Shop around and compare. Roughly a week ago my elderly in laws went here and purchased a used 2022 Toyota Highlander. On their way home they came by our house because my mother in law was excited with her new car, but she was upset that it on came with one key. Well after they left I pulled up Mac Haik web site and was looking at the posting of the car they had just purchased and in one of the pictures it specifically shows her owners manual and 2 keys zip tied to a tag that was her car she purchased. I screen shot the photo and sent to her. She then sent it to her sales guy and he had the guts to say it was a stock photo. But it clearly shows 2 keys with the tag that is the car they purchased. I know I'm writing this review a year late, but after everything, I just can't let it go. This was the worst car-buying experience I've ever had, and as a single woman, dealing with Mac Haik League City on my own was incredibly stressful. The problems started almost immediately. Within a week of owning the car, I noticed an odd noise, and then the P0455 Evaporative Emission System Large Leak error appeared on my dashboard. Concerned, I took the car back to the dealership. After waiting all day, they told me it was "just the gas cap," reset the check engine light, and sent me on my way. A week later, I had the biggest gas leak I've ever seen. It was so bad that the Exxon station where I stopped wouldn't even let me leave their forecourt for safety reasons. Mac Haik did tow the car back, but instead of truly fixing the issue, they only treated the symptom. Worse yet, they didn't even include the repair in the Carfax report. The problems didn't stop there. The engine pressure was so high that every time I opened the gas cap, it would fizz, and the odd noise persisted. At that point, I had completely lost faith in Mac Haik's mechanics and took the car to a competent garage instead. To make matters worse, at the time of purchase, I sold them my old 2003 Mercedes ML 350 for just $500 because it had major issues--a radiator leak, corrosion, and more. They told me they were just going to send it to auction. Imagine my shock when, just a few days later, I saw it on their lot for $8,000! There was no way they had rebuilt that car properly in such a short time. Final Warning: Mac Haik will string you along until your warranty expires. They dismiss real problems, only offering temporary fixes, and mislead customers about trade-ins. If you're considering buying from them--DON'T. read more

His ego was bruised when I told home to change the oil despite not being 10,000 miles yet because Toyota didn't invent oil that doesn't degrade. After spending $1000 to maintenance my car which was having absolutely no problems, I was left with a severely damaged transmission just a couple weeks after their technicians serviced it. I spoke to the Director of Service, who was incredibly dismissive and unhelpful - he has absolutely terrible customer service skills and was unwilling to show any concern for my problem which now costs nearly $5,000. My experience was terrible, but let me say that, having never purchased a new car before, I went to a Toyota dealer with the expectation that I could trust them, they are "Toyota," and they must meet a higher standard of ethical business practices than other dealerships. Wrong! Long and the short: purchased a beautiful metallic green 2024 Highlander, low mileage, with the promise of if the car turned out to be defective--which it was--I could return it in three days. By they way, they do not carefully inspect used cars--why should they? You cannot return it even though they will tell you you can when you buy. I opted to return the car since it had rodent chewed wires causing warning lights. There was a long history of these messages in the console. No thanks. The "return policy" verbally conveyed when we bought the Highlander from the sales guy turned out to be an exchange policy verbally conveyed by the new car sales person, another car of equal or greater value. They didn't have what I wanted, but I had to buy that day, day three, to do the return and for them to pay off the old loan. Well it wasn't even a return! Unbelievably--I guess I somehow missed this--they devalued the Highlander I just purchased and rolled thousands of negative equity into the RAV4 loan! No one actually spoke to me about that part of the transaction. Also, the sales person said 3K off, last day of the month special; I went right from sales to the finance/warranty sales guy. I thought the highlander would be returned, the sale voided out, when I purchased a new car, per their "policy". I could have taken the Highlander anywhere to trade it for wholesale price not been coerced into buying, I don't even like the ugly gray RAV. And it is ugly, especially the blackout model. I had a choice of black and black or gray and black, all they had on the new car side in my price range. All I wanted was a colorful car with leather interior. Said I could not order, had to buy that day, day 3 of their policy. According to the GM: We have no return or exchange policy! They are not honest in their dealings. Take someone with you, use your phone to record verbal promises and watch your back. Or best yet, don't go at all. This is the 4th car we have bought here and 2nd time we have purchased with Raul. Raul is the best, he is fair and patient and doesn't get flustered when you are working out a deal. He also sets up all of our information and goes over every detail of your new car with you, making sure you know the ins and outs before you drive off the lot. Got there at 2pm and apparently annoyed the used car salesmen who lamented to help and passed me to someone else. Took my 2015 Toyota Tundra for an oil change. I keep my fog lights set to be on when my headlights are on, the technician turned them off. I keep my bed cargo light setting in the off position when my door is open, the technician turned it on. My wife and I were looking for a Highlander Limited in the color Charcoal Gray. Like everywhere else, nobody had them in stock. I called this dealership and the phone was answered by Adam, who told me they had one that just came off the truck. I told him I was on my way and when I arrived, he was waiting there with the key in hand. We test drove it and I loved it. We went back to the office and started the paperwork. Thanks to him and the manager, they did better than I was expecting. I did my portion of the paperwork and my wife went later to do her part. Overall, we had a great experience from salesman, manager to the finance guy. They treated us very well and got us better than where we needed to be. What a joke, this place is a joke. After viewing on their website for a Honda CRV, my dad calls Mac Haik Toyota to follow up on our interest to view the vehicle in person. The saleswoman tells us that the vehicle is there and she is viewing it and that we can come to check it out. So, we drive down to Mac Haik Toyota and when we get there - we find out the Internet Saleswoman is acting strangely. First, the receptionists at the front call her desk, and she doesn't pick up, when she does come out, she is acting sketchy and timid, she tells my dad and me to walk with her outside, (when we ask her if it would be alright if we park our car near the area where used cars is since before we were parked at new cars). She tells us, "yes, no problem, when you all get done I will be standing out front, ready to show you". So, we park our car and get out our vehicle to find out the saleswoman is not where she said she would be. Instead, her manager walks out to tell us that the Honda CRV has just been sold this morning, it was sold 30 minutes ago. I bought my first car here in July and super grateful for having such a positive experience with Raul Ruiz! I did prior research so I already knew which make/model/color car I wanted (RAV4 Hybrid XLE Premium) and Raul made it happen. After I put down my deposit it was estimated that I would have to wait a few weeks for the exact car I wanted to be shipped over, due to production shortages. However, Raul called me the following week to tell me that another car of the exact model I wanted became available (someone had backed out of their sale) and quickly got me in the door to finalize my deal. I also got a fair trade-in price for my 2015 Mazda CX-5, and then later Raul was really kind to put on my license plates once they arrived today (note: plates take 4-6 weeks to come in after you purchase). Scam artists! BEWARE AND READ THIS BEFORE YOU TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. Stay away! They need to be investigated. Toyota you need to read these reviews and do something about this location! I've been bringing my car here years, but during the pandemic and after it's all gone downhill. I kept bringing my car with the same complaint, but they never fixed the issue. They always find something else wrong other than what I told them about and charge me through the roof. Also I took my car to the body shop and they did VERY SHODDY work. MY paint is peeling and it looks a mess! I've never experienced this level of HORRIBLENESS with a Toyota dealer. Throughout the years I've paid alot of money, thousands of dollars, to Mac Haik to have my car maintained, but it's running and looking like junk now and when I keep bringing it back all I get is "your car has alot of miles and it's probably something else, bring back so we can diagnose the problem." But all I get is another excuse to spend more money but they never fixed the issue I originally told them about. They've done multiple repairs, but the issue I keep telling them about has never been repaired. Meanwhile, it's gotten worse! This is a tactic to force you to buy a car from them. The Customer Relations Manager has mentioned buying another car to me several times. In October 2023 I was driving and my car started shaking and jerking on my way to work and they were the nearest shop so I took my car there. The told me it was the spark plugs from a misfire, so I agreed to have to fixed, plus I authorized them to change the coil pack along with the plugs. My car never ran right even after "they claimed" they replaced all of the plugs and the coils. It had a rough, changing idle when I started it and it still had a very detectable "miss" after it warmed up. SO I took it back right after the "repair" and the Service Manager assured me that they changed everything and I even asked to see the parts, but I wasn't sure they actually did what they said. The Service advisor "claimed" that the throttle body was dirty so they cleaned it and I was assured it was fine. On Wednesday 3/6/24 my car started doing the exact same thing again! I got the codes read and it proved that yes it was misfiring AGAIN! Why is this happening after I just spent all of this money?? I have contacted Toyota and they keep directing me back to Mac Haik, but I don't trust them. I have given then chance after chance to do the right things, but they never do. I have been waiting to write this review for a while now to see if they would do the right thing, but they HAVE NOT. I FINALLY spoke to the General Manager, but he says the same things the Service Manager and the Customer Retention Manager says. They keep telling me there's probably another issue because my car is a 2011 and has alot of miles. They always want more money out of me, but this time I'm done spending my money, I don't have anymore blood to bleed for them! All I ask is for honesty and to fix what I paid you for! I bought a brand new 2017 Toyota 4runner TRD Off-Road. Mid 2018 I noticed there are 3 cloudy spots on my 4runner roof and 2 on top of the hood, each is about 4"x7". I went Mac Haik Toyota Collison Center to see if they can fix it. I talked to a guy name Eddy or Andy, he introduced himself as shop manager. He told me just wait for few months and see if those spots will get worse and we will see from there. Of course Covid happened and when I contacted Mac Haik again I was told if I decided let them repaint my vehicle roof and hood, it'll take around 4 to 6 weeks or some time longer and they will not provided loaner cars. This year (2023) paint damage got even worse. It flakes and looks like snake shedding.
