I stopped by here a couple of months ago with my wife for some coffee. We decided to come to Mac Tabby cat cafe because we had eaten lunch across the street. It's located on the second floor of a building right on North Davidson but can be a bit tricky to find if you don't know it's there. As a matter of a fact I only really noticed it because of their chalkboard sidewalk sign that I had run by a couple of days prior. In any case my wife and I proceeded up the stairs and immediately saw the entrance to the cats area along with the pricing for it. Heading around the corner we saw the rest of the shop which consisted of some seats, a place to buy coffee and most importantly a giant picture window so that you could see into the cats. For my coffee on this day I decided to order a large latte and while waiting my wife and I watched the cats and their visitors. It was fun watching all of the cats and seeing their different personalities as some wanted to play while others seemed to want to sleep or be left alone. After only a short wait I grabbed my coffee and my wife and I headed back to the window to watch some more. As for the coffee itself, it was ok. It was decent enough with an ample amount of milk and you could definitely taste the espresso. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. While I don't know that I would stop by here without the cats, the coffee was decent enough and the cats more than make it worth it. read more

This is my favorite place in Charlotte! (I prefer not to go to Charlotte at all). Atmosphere - Clean, cozy, and trendy! I was really excited to come here and I finally did on a Monday night for yoga. I was offered a free hot tea and water before yoga class. The yoga instructor was great, and the cats are super cute. (They are looking for a good home!) The best part is there is no cat smell, and there are toys provided for the cats. I will absolutely return! Update - have been coming here for two years! Am a member and it's still my favorite place. Mac Tabby Cat cafe is a respite rescue home for stray cats. You cannot drop off your own car or bring them a stray They work with an organization that rescues strays. There is a separate room for the cats to roam where there are chairs for you to sit. Did you know that petting a cat can relieve stress? You have the opportunity to give love and receive love and/ or adopt a friend and pet. They charge $8 for half and hour for you to spend time with the cats. In a separate section you can longs in chairs or couches and have a snack or a latte. In this area there is a large window that will allow you to watch the kitty's as they play and sleep. Definitely go check it out. It's totally worth going to. Get some snuggles while you are at it. read more

This place was super cute, cozy and warm! Everyone there was super nice as well and would tell you about the many cats that they have! There is also a cafe outside of the cat room where you can get coffee, pastries, or even beers/wines. I'd definitely recommend getting there 15 mins early so you can find parking and look at the menu to see if anything intrigues you. The cats were so stinkin' cute, I just wish some were more cuddly but what can you say? One of the cats had super long nails so when he crawled on me his nails dug into my leggings and also onto my hand so I would say to avoid wearing clothes that snag easily, but other than that, it was a great experience and I'd definitely bring my friends here in the future! read more

My wife is a animal lover, so today I surprised her with a trip to Mac Tabby for coffee and cuddles. The smile on her face was everything to me. She didn't even comprehend what was going on. I asked her what kind of coffee she wanted but her focus was getting inside the cat room. I was unaware there was a charge to spend time with the cats, but we gladly paid, knowing it was going to a good cause. After we paid for our coffee drinks and admission, we signed waivers and entered the area where all of the cats we lazing around. It must have been an exhausting morning for them because all were knocked out when we entered. My wife started petting as many as she could. She was in heaven. We were told that a few had been adopted and are going to there new homes shortly. We were very happy to hear the news. It was a lovely experience and by the way, my Dirty Chai was fantastic. read more

Great place to bring anybody who likes animals or cats... First off it's hidden. You go up some stairs and sign a waiver than pay by 30 min gaps or hour gaps. They also offer select beer wines coffee and teas. A few treats to eat but nothing big. Just cookies and brownies mostly. Cats do change as they get adopted out. The location is perfect to get a bite before (Sabor for the win) and a drink there. I got the Pink Drink and it was so yummy! The vibes are so chill and boho - love all the decor. First time in a cat cafe. They're a nonprofit so it was totally worth it. The cats were fun to play with. They had probably 13 cats I think? They also have great coffee. We went two days in a row. I want to stress how amazing and clean this place was. It smelled amazing and you would never know that cats spend their day in this room. I brought my two children that love cats and it was the highlight of our Charlotte trip for them. The woman who helped us was so sweet and friendly and very patient with my boys. The cats were so sweet and playful and you can tell they are treated well there. The drink options were also so good. We each had a different smoothie and loved all of them. I highly suggest this for cat lovers or anyone on the fence about getting a cat. The cutest little cafe in Noda! There were so many cute cats that were very well taken care of. A tv was displayed with all their names and ages. They had so many beds and toys for them to play with. This is the coolest new place is Charlotte if you love cats like I do. Lori, the owner, has been fostering cats for years and wanted to find a way to help the Charlotte community and the Charlotte kitty community connect. She works with Catering to Cats and Dogs, a local rescue organization, to bring the most adoptable cats to her cafe. (We got one of our cats from Catering to Cats and Dogs and had a great experience throughout the whole process!) You have to make a reservation in advance to book an hour time slot so that the kitties don't get overwhelmed and so that there are enough cats to go around. An hour in the cafe will cost you about $12 per person, but they also offer special events such a yoga which may vary. Items like Pure Intentions coffee and Lenny Boy kombucha are also available for sale in the cafe room (vs the kitty room) and coffee was only $2. Inside the cat room, there are all sort of seating options but I mostly sat on the floor with the cats lol. But seriously, lots of comfy options and plenty of cat toys and books and crannies for the cats to take a nap after all of the playtime they are getting. This place is so good for the cats and so good for Charlotte. Can't wait to go back! read more

Charlotte has a cat cafe! I have seen a cat cafe in Charleston and hear Raleigh is getting one and the concept is still new to me. We were in town visiting friends and they said Mac Tabby is a new addition to NoDa and just opened in December. I went on the website, read about it and decided to try to book a slot. Everything was full on a Saturday so I tried to waitlist us. We went to Mac Tabby and found the the entrance. It is on the second floor and there is an art gallery on the same floor and the room with all the cats. You then enter the cafe where a friendly lady welcomed us and explained the cat cafe rules. I knew we did not have a chance because waitlist means someone has to cancel and they were booked with 15 guests on the hour every hour. Instead, we had a cup of of coffee, looked at some cat magazines and looked at the photos of the 27 adoptions that have taken place in just a month. The cause is great and cats from a local shelter are brought to Mac Tabby, you book a time and sign a waiver and then get time with the cats. It is all about an experience and therapy and spending time with cats. The goal is to find home for all of these free range kitties and they seem to be setting a great record so far with all the adoptions. We saw guests come in without appointments and they were turned away. I suggest making an appointment ahead of time so that you truly get the time with the cats. They also offer storytime with the cats and children and I think also yoga with the cats. I love the cause and concept and am glad I got to see a cat cafe in action. It was a purr-fect experience and I can't wait for Raleigh to get one. read more

This was only my second time at a cat cafe and this time way out shined the first place we went to. I don't know if we just had a great group of cats or their very open floor plan but my whole group had a great time! Their staff were very knowledgeable about all of the cats and we even got to see one get adopted. While we were there the rescue they work with dropped 3 new cats off and I was impressed how socialized the new cats had already been. If you are in the market for a cat this would be a great place to go! Since the place is in the heart of NODA of course parking can be challenging and you will want to note they are on the second floor and don't believe there is an elevator. If you have not been to one of these places yet and you like cats I highly suggest it. They also have a good selection of cat themed items for sale. read more

We got here on a Sunday around 2pm. We did not make a reservation but luckily it was not busy and we got right in. Purchased a 1/2 hour with the cats which was plenty as most of them were napping. I liked this establishment because the space seemed cleaner that other similar ones that I've been to in the past. It was decorated very well also, which added to the experience. My first time at Mac Tabby was great and unexpected! I signed up for an evening shift on a week day. Finding the place was a bit hard- use the parking lot off of parkwood and it'll be much easier. Check in is easy. You'll tell them your name and be able to buy a drink or cat themed trinkets (which are all super cute)They limit the number of people in the cat room for each slot which I enjoyed so there's a good person to cat ratio. Everyone can easily have time with each cat. Inside Both the cafe and cat room it's very clean and very hip. The cafe has some seating as you wait for your time slot. The cat room has all kinds of seating options that double as cat sleep spots as well. There's plenty of toys for the cats and plenty of places for them to climb and nap. There's a person who works there inside the room at all times to answer any questions you have. She told us their names and personalities and so forth. I felt like it was the most wonderful place for a cat to live. I was expecting to read a book during my time slot and have a cat in my lap. This was not the case, which is not to say it was a bad thing but different than what I had expected. Most people being a friend or four to socialize with while they play with the cats or hold them. It's not what you would think of as the quiet, indie music playing cafe but instead a social environment to hang out with cats. I absolutely loved that every cat is adoptable and that they seem to love their environment. Will be back. read more

This is a beautiful cafe with lovely staff and a hip interior. I didn't really enjoy my experience because of the loud music and so many kids running around waking sleeping cats and chasing them throughout the cafe. It is definitely not a place to study or relax with cats. I was hoping to kind of chill/exist in the same space as the cats and let them come over to me if they wanted attention. This is a place for kids (and inconsiderate adults) to invade your personal space and harass cats. It is also a hot spot for teenage girls to dress up and come do photo shoots with their boyfriends. So I have two dogs. I think you have to really like cats to like it here, and that's ok! I love the concept and what they are doing for the community. Parking is easy in their lot. You pay and check in a separate room before you head into the cat room. You can bring coffee and some of the small treats they sell in with you. Key is small, don't come expecting a selection or if you are hungry. There must be a key time of day to visit as we came in the late afternoon and a lot of the cats were sleeping or hiding. Lots of toys are offered or you can use their wifi. I came hoping to work while my husband played with the cats and there isn't that kind of set up to get any serious work done. The cats are always adorable and the coffees are always delicious. Feels so nice to support a local business dedicated to finding furever homes for those cats. The staff is ALWAYS so beyond kind and put the cats' safety and wellbeing above all else. Today a child was displaying unsafe behaviors (running around, scaring the cats, trying to pick up the cats, etc.) and the staff kindly reinforced the rules MULTIPLE times. When the crotchety parent complained, the staff stood their ground and protected those cats. Kudos to the cat cafe crew! read more
