    Iced chai latte
    Tyler G.

I enjoyed stopping by Coffee at Station West. This is a recent development in Wesley Heights, right off the Seversville greenway. The panini was delicious and is now my hyper fixation of the month. This shop was quiet for WFH and pretty empty at noon.

    Breakfast sandwich

Highly disappointing and a waste of calories and money. We ordered a breakfast sandwich which probably could have been made better at home. I've gotten better bread from Publix. And our bagel was rock hard with more cream cheese (which was flavorless) than bagel. The espresso is also quite bitter (my wife ordered Cortado) The only saving grace was my gingerbread latte, which probably had so much milk and sugar that it masked the terrible espresso. But it was quite good so I'll take it. That latte is the only reason this isn't an 1 star review. It has a nice decor and lots of space but this is clearly a style over substance kind of place.

Favorite coffee shop in Charlotte!! The baristas are hands down the friendliest in town, and are always willing to provide suggestions or surprise orders (which I love when it comes to coffee because they usually pick something I'd overlook on the menu) Their pricing is comparable to Starbucks for a local shop and the inside is spacious and allows plenty of tables to work or socialize. Aside from the staples, which don't disappoint, the seasonal menu has been my recent obsession. The "Old West" (rosemary, salted caramel) is the perfect mix of savory and sweet and the Moonlight special (coconut, ube, and espresso) is surprisingly delish coffee twist if you want a mid day pick me up.

The coffee was amazing, it was quick, warm and had a really good taste. Service was excellent, I got to sit down and had my food brought out to me! It has a rustic clean interior and would highly recommend if you are getting coffee with friends to catch up it would be a good place to visit.

4.5 stars - cute decor, good latte, quiet ambiance. We stumbled upon this place when visiting The Batch House, which is next door. I think this place changed (or is changing) their name. It was pretty nondescript and a small sign on the building just said "Coffee at Station West." We almost didn't notice it at first. I ordered the Old West Latte off the summer menu and was impressed with the espresso. The drink was also not overly sweet, which I prefer. Minus half a star because they were out of matcha when we went which was a little disappointing because the Daydream (matcha summer latte) was what I really wanted to try. We visited on a Friday at around 11am and noticed that the shop itself was really quiet and there were quite a few people in there working. They had power strips and free Wi-Fi.

While looking for batchhouse bakery, I stumbled upon Backdrop Coffee] and y'all I couldn't be happier. Not only are the staff and owners nice the food and coffee is insanely good. I ordered the sourdough waffles with bananas, housemade flavored whip cream and honey but will be back for the avocado toast.. While here, i experienced my first coffee batching (coffee tasting) and never realized how freshly roasted and ground beans could taste different depending upon the region. if you are looking for a great locally owned coffee shop and want to expand your knowledge of coffee I'd highly suggest Backdrop Coffee] because they have a passion for coffee and it shows. 5 out of 5 from me... I had such a great experience here.

Backdrop has such an incredible mission and is run by the kindest family. My husband and I are big fans of their coffee and their hospitality. This space is super unique and a great addition to Charlotte. I definitely suggest going with a latte or their drip coffee here. I have never been anything but ecstatic when I do. I recently tried their chai latte to avoid taking on too much more caffeine for the day though and I was not the biggest fan. I wouldn't suggest the chai but everything else so far has been amazing. This is a great location to catch up with friends but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for working. Being in a remote role, I take a lot of Zoom calls and unfortunately, I couldn't take my calls without struggle here due to how loud the environment was. It could've been the day I chose so I wouldn't completely rule it out but I won't chance it again on a call-heavy day. If I am looking for a place to chat and grab coffee with a friend though... this is it.

This coffee place is so cute! Y'all need to go. Like you should go right now. Right when we walked in we were greeted by the owner. We felt so welcomed! How many times can you say you were greeted by the CEO of Starbucks when getting coffee there? Yeah never. No shade to Starbucks but if you want to feel at home, I definitely recommend coming to this place. It's a local coffee shop that has a beautiful and unique coffee lounge. I had the Iced Vanilla Latte, the avocado toast with 2 cute little boiled eggs, and thennnn I had the coolest waffles. Sourdough waffles with berries!!! Ya you read that right, sourdough waffles. Amazing flavor and an amazing place. Come check it out please! Love ya ttyl xoxo

    Everything bagel w/ cream cheese

Yay! I'm the first to review Backdrop Coffee. I don't know how this business doesn't already have a Yelp page because it's great! I ordered an iced Americano and a toasted everything bagel w/ cream cheese. Both were fantastic. The coffee was top quality. And my everything bagel was perfectly toasted, fluffy, and chewy. They are very generous with their cream cheese! But if bagels aren't your thing, they also offer sourdough waffles, parfaits, and avocado toast. I didn't have anything else, but I am certain their other options are superb as a lot of people here seemed to be munching on their food! Lastly, wow, the workers here are super friendly! I can't wait to go back! TIP: This place is very spacious. There is a ton of comfy and various seating arrangements (large couches, armchairs, tables). In other words, it's a great place for meeting friends and studying! I predict this place will THRIVE.

Gorgeous entry to where the magic happens!

The Foremans are transforming Charlotte's coffee scene in such a beautiful way, committed to hiring people with disabilities at both their Haerfest Roastery and Backdrop coffee house. The scents and tastes are outstanding (Get.The.Waffles.) but it's the family-focused, kind and generous atmosphere that will win your heart and keep you coming back. Plus who doesn't want amazing coffee packaged in art created by talented but often overlooked people with disabilities? The Foremans' business model is a "yes we can" approach to one of society's challenges, finding meaningful employment with the right supports and room to grow for people whose disabilities will not define them. Just wonderful!!!

4.5 stars - Fantastic coffee. Wonderful service. Vibe changed over the hour I was there from 10 people at 10 different tables on their laptops to maybe 4 computer tables and a few tables of two having quiet conversations. I preferred the liveliness of the latter, but it's a quiet place to work if you're looking for that. Vanilla latte was one of the best I've had in Charlotte. Also it's in same cluster as The BatchHouse which is a win. Only thing I'd change is the Christian alt rock playing on the speakers... but to each his own and maybe they don't play that all the time. I'll come back if I'm in the neighborhood again.

Such an amazing coffee shop!! The seating area is great for studying and there's also a cute outdoor area & right nextdoor to the Batchmaker. The staff here are friendly. I ordered a vanilla latte, and it's perfectly sweetened and their coffee beans are great quality. It isn't watered down or overpowered with milk. I will definitely be coming back!! FYI if you come during a busy time (I came while there was a private event in another building), there is a parking lot in the back. There's a lot of parking spots available so no need to worry about parallel parking

During my most recent visit, I spent nearly an hour watching a staff member greet and check on every table in my section except mine. She made eye contact with me several times but never acknowledged me or asked if I needed anything. Being completely overlooked while everyone around me received attentive service was frustrating and made me feel unwelcome. I brought my concerns to the manager, hoping the issue would be taken seriously. Instead, I felt that excuses were made for the staff member's behavior rather than acknowledging my experience. That response left me with the impression that this type of service is acceptable and that the issue is unlikely to be addressed. That's disappointing because the food and atmosphere are genuinely enjoyable, but good service should be part of the overall experience as well.

The space is bright, clean, and feels like a nice addition to the neighborhood. The biggest downside was the parking situation which is obviously more of a South End issue than a Salata issue, but it definitely made the quick stop feel less convenient than we expected. The ordering flow was also a little awkward... after building your order you end up waiting at the register while the food is assembled, which slowed things down more than it needed to. Food-wise, my wrap ended up being really good but there wasn't an option for a plain wrap, so I went with the cucumber wrap instead of whole wheat and it actually worked out great. Overall, it was a good meal, but if I'm choosing between salad spots in Charlotte I'd probably lean toward Chopt most of the time.

It's right on the way to my yoga studio, so it's perfect for a quick in-and-out lunch, but honestly, it's also the kind of place where you end up lingering longer than planned. My usual order is the ABLT on rye with Boar's Head applewood smoked bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Simple, fresh, and consistently delicious every single time. I almost always pair it with the Spinach Bacon salad loaded with spinach, cranberries, goat cheese, tomatoes, toasted pecans, and brown sugar peppered bacon. The portions are huge and definitely shareable. What makes Rhino special is that it's more than just a deli. It's part neighborhood market, part coffee shop, part beer and wine stop, and part community hangout. They've got local products, grab-and-go snacks, fresh sandwiches, beer on tap, wine, outdoor patio seating, and sometimes even live music. It reminds me of the small independent spots I used to love in the Bay Area around Burlingame, San Mateo, and Palo Alto. Relaxed, local, welcoming, and full of personality. The staff is always friendly, and the atmosphere feels genuinely Charlotte. Not overly polished. Not trying too hard. Just good food, good people, and a place that locals clearly love. And if you are visiting North Carolina, you absolutely have to try Cheerwine at least once. It's basically a Carolina rite of passage. Cherry soda lovers will probably be obsessed. Me personally? Not exactly my flavor profile, but people here drink it like water, so clearly they are onto something. Rhino Market is one of those places that makes a city feel like home. The ordering and payment process was easy. I was solo so I took a seat at the bar area to eat. Sandwich looked good when I unwrapped it, large slices of toasted bread with fresh lettuce and tomato. The strangest thing was, on the left side of the sandwich were several slices of deli turkey rolled up. On the right side of the sandwich were several slices of deli ham rolled up. I hadn't seen a sandwich made like that before. It felt like half of a turkey sandwich and half of a ham sandwich as opposed to a ham and turkey sandwich. Was it bad? Definitely not. I waffled between a 3 and a 4 star for this one but felt generous because, overall, I liked the vibe of the place.

Review for Pizza Baby…read more After a relaxing Vinyasa yoga class and sound bath at The Coterie Wellness one evening, I found myself hungry--and conveniently, Pizza Baby had just opened in the same complex. Perfect timing. Since it was still new, the restaurant wasn't very busy, and I decided to grab a table outside. The outdoor seating was lovely--relaxed, comfortable, and a great way to unwind after a wellness session. I'm a sucker for thin-crust pizza, especially when it's hand-tossed and thoughtfully prepared, so one item immediately caught my eye: the rosemary pizza with hot honey. Sold. I added Italian sausage to the pizza and paired it with a fresh green salad (I can never resist a good Green Goddess dressing). Yes, it was a little on the pricey side, but the quality matched the cost--and I was genuinely pleased with my choices. The crust was thin and flavorful, the toppings were balanced, and the hot honey added just the right touch of sweetness and heat. This is definitely a place I'd return to--next time with friends--so we can share a few different pizzas and appetizers and really explore the menu. A few practical notes: * Parking is generally easy since the restaurant shares a lot with neighboring businesses in the complex * There are several nearby spots, including a wine bar and entertainment venues, which make the area feel lively * There was some early parking congestion when a nearby church held services, but the situation has since been addressed with signage and coordinated parking solutions It's nice to see businesses and community partners working together to make things run smoothly. There's also another location of Pizza Baby that I plan to visit, which speaks to how positive my first experience was. Bottom line: Great thin-crust pizza, pleasant outdoor seating, and a convenient stop after yoga or an evening out. A solid addition to Charlotte's growing food scene--and absolutely worth checking out. And if you're already in the area for a class or wellness session, it makes for the perfect post-workout reward.
