This means the management is below par. I only go for take-out, and I have to prepare myself to wait for deplorable service. Managers should teach common service industry know-hows like greeting people when they enter. If you are a server or bartender, don't eat with guests at a table on the floor. Managers should never leave the floor without servers or host or bartender. Train your servers to serve. Train servers to know and respect that this is a service job. Go work as a defense attorney if you would rather defend than serve....or any field if you don't or can not serve others. However there are ways to go about letting someone know they can't sit. I feel like Macado's embraces the bigger is better mentality, and I have to say, I'm not mad at that! The sandwiches are HUGE, I always have half my chosen sandwich leftover and they are just as good the next day. I have not come across anything I don't like. Big City Jazz, Chicken BLT, Honeymooner, McDuffy, and Ragtime are all finger licking good (can you tell I come here quite a bit??) and I'm looking forward to trying a new creation my next visit. In addition to the sandwiches the appetizers are like whoa! Fried green tomatoes and fried pickles are always going down when we visit. No ifs ands or buts. Have I gotten to the cocktails yet? Whew! Service was the worst I have had in a long time, waitress did not know what she was doing and our food took over 30 minutes to come out, when it did the dry and bland chicken sandwich my son had was almost inedible and the reuben I ordered was so soggy on the bottom that I couldn't eat that part of the bread. It's my guess both were sitting under heat lamps for at least 15 minutes to arrive in that condition. No explanation from server as to kitchen being busy etc which sometimes happens, and when i asked to see a manager and told him of my experience he said "oh ok". No real concern for the fact that the dining experience was completely unsatisfactory. Will not be back and cannot recommend this place at all!! read more

We ordered a large door dash order and condiments were missing. So we called to see how to get refunded as we paid for it. And when the person who answered the phone ask the manager we could hear her yelling in the background "are you fucking kidding me? Over a ducking dollar?" Yea it's not about the money, it's about checking your orders and preparing them correctly. If this is the type of management at this establishment I wonder how their employees are treated. My husband and I went on my hour lunch break. Seated immediately with very few customers. After ten minutes, two waitresses came over, one was training. We ordered drinks and our food as well, to save time. After 40 minutes, no food and no one checking on us. I went to the hostess stand and asked for our meals to go. My son works for the City of Winchester and he suggested that I try Macado's. I had the Blues Bros burger, omg that was a perfectly cooked burger( I am seriously picky) and onion rings, I got this for my late lunch while working and there was ample enough food that I didn't need dinner. Go forward 3 days later and had to try a sandwich for lunch got the Annie Oakley while it was good (tiny bit too much slaw for my liking) made the sandwich seriously messy, but the taste was really good. Macado's is an upbeat sandwich place that also does a select amount of other items. I ordered the Big City Jazz because it had avocado on it, but the waitress failed to tell me they were out of avocado so I was kinda upset. The sandwich was pretty good overall.. there was a lot of meat, almost too much. The pickle that came with the sandwich was really good though, not that noncrunchy stuff other places give you. Our waitress was really cool, and she made good recommendations since I've never been. They have a small beer selection, but it was a good mix of craft beer and domestics. Food was OK except daughters french fries were ice cold (like still slightly frozen ice cold) and my sandwich was supposed to be served hot but was not and also without lettuce which came on the sandwich. She dropped drinks off at the table and scurried away before we could even ask for straws. 10 minutes later we got up and went and got straws ourselves. About 5 minutes later (now 15 minutes) she came and took our order. When she delivered the food over 20 minutes later she again dropped everything off and disappeared. No napkins, no utensils. It took 10 more minutes to get a knife. When she brought the knife finally she asked if I would like a refill (my coke glass was empty). 15 minutes later we were done with our food and she came by the table and said Oh - I forgot to get your refill. Are you ready for the check. At this point you betcha! I get a place being busy. But much of our needs were 30 second fixes that could have been prevented if they just brought what you needed to begin with. Our server literally disappeared from the dining area for 10 to 15 minutes at at time. Meanwhile during this long absences we were without the normal essential items to eat a meal. Arrived at 6:35 on a Saturday night. Was told that it would be 30-40 min for a party of 7 outside (we had a dog so we couldn't eat inside). After 50 min I checked and and they said "not much longer". An hour and 10 min later I asked again and they told me "shouldn't be more than 10 min. We won't seat anyone outside before you guys". 10 min later we witnessed them seat a party outside. I continue to try and give this Macado's a chance and time after time it fails me. I went to college in Radford with a Macado's - my husband worked at the Radford Macado's for years therefore we love to support Macado's. However, the service and experience we received tonight at the Macado's Winchester was unacceptable. We sat at the bar and the bartender was either drunk and/or on drugs. He was dropping everything he touched, appeared disoriented and out of it the whole time we were there. He forget to put in our simple order of totchos and coronas. We waited over an hour for the totchos and they never arrived. We had to ask him about where our food was and he could not give us answer other than checking the "order" he wrote in his book. We had to tell him to cancel the food because we had to leave. Trying to get out checks for 3 Coronas was a debacle - he was so disoriented and did not appear to be on planet earth. I had to verbally tell him what we ordered and what the friends we were with ordered. To get our checks and pay took at least 20 minutes. A female server/bartender provided us with an excuse that they had a "skeleton crew" - but to be honest everytime we come it is trash service. It is completely unacceptable to operate with this level of service. I have frequented many Macado's with top quality service - and this is far from Macado's level service and needs to be addressed. read more

Went here for an early dinner, still sitting here typing this. Upon entering was treated rudely by a member of the wait staff a little older short red hair parted on the side petite. I came in through the handicap entrance because I have MS and took the first booth I saw instead of being nice I got chastized with attitude about why I need to check in with the front desk and that the section might be closed. I PROJECTED MY a scosh and said I sat un the bar the booth in front of me is occupied and it is next to the bar, so I doubt it is closed asd as you said multiple times you will tell the hostess I'm here. We visit fairly soon after they opened in Winchester, and were very disappointed it didn't meet the expectations set by other Macado's locations. They were nearly completely out of alcoholic drink options (perhaps not prepared for the crowds a Winchester weekend festival would bring?). The server was rude and tried to correct our order stating that it wasn't on the menu (it absolutely was... we were reading off the menu). The food took nearly 40 minutes to arrive, and when it did, it was completely cold. I can count on one finger the amount of times i've ever returned food in a restaurant... this was that day. It's a shame that such a beautful building in historic Old Town has been inhabited by this place. They need to step it up, or they need to go. read more

Terrible service sums it up. We were seated near the bar and waited on by the bartender. Took 10 minutes for her to acknowledge us and take our drink orders. My wife gave her drink order and then started to order our appetizer when the bartender completely ignored her and asked me for my drink order. Talked right on top of her. Food was good. Service throughout meal was terrible. Had to get up and go to bar to ask for boxes and check. When bartender brought bag over afterwards for our boxes she all but demanded that my wife stop what she was doing and put the boxes in the bag. How rude! Will never return.
