This was an early morning breakfast today with family who were heading home to SC. We were greeted by the (maybe) Manager/Host who interestingly had lived in the Myrtle Beach area so we had an instant connection! Our Server arrived right after and she was AMAZING!!! So sorry I didn't get their names but it was 6am and I hadn't had their delicious coffee yet. We had a LOT of requests and she was so patient and a real ROCKSTAR! The food was old school Cracker Barrel! Ya'll need to forget all the recent controversy! This took us ALL the way back! Everything was hot, fresh and delicious! THEM BISCUITS THO!!! SO good!!!! We've had some disappointing visits in the past years since COVID but today was a new beginning! I am so excited for our local Cracker Barrel to be back to quality service and all the things you expect from the brand. The best indicator of the quality and service? 17 local law enforcement were meeting there enjoying a meal, City and County! It was a beautiful sight to see. Pro: big parking lot, friendly staff Con: no appetizer, Never been to a Cracker Barrel my whole life so what a time to try one now. The parking lot is large no issue finding a parking space. Upon entering the front door you are in a gift shop with the restaurant next door. The interior is clean and has an old timey feel to it. After perusing the menu i was sad to see no appetizer to order so i just started with a peach ice tea drink. For my entree I ordered the hamburger steak with sides of fries and Mac N cheese. The drink tasted very tropical and refreshing. The fries were very crisp and season nicely. The burger was decent. All in all, the food here was ok and it was nice to finally try a Cracker Barrel. read more

I'm not usually a fan of chains, but I like Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Excellent wild blueberry pancakes. Always good with bacon or ham. Any potato is done well. Eggs are perfect. Coffee is good. Great service and all at a decent price. read more

First off this review is not about the food, or service. Its about how hot it is in this restaurant and pretty much every other CB we have eaten in. However, the Winchester restaurant is, by far, the hottest one I've been in. I get that its winter in Va when this review is being made. But, we were seated in the far back corner by the window with a wall between us and the fireplace. And, the fireplace barely had a fire going. It was so hot that I was sweating just sitting there. I had a glass of ice for my tea since the tea is brewed and warm when it's served. So, I always ask for a glass of ice with my tea. My ice was melting like it had a fire right beside it. I live near this restaurant. So, I go to it more often than travelers. Its always hot af no matter the season. I will definitely be limiting my visits unless Im wearing my shorts and a tank top read more

I have been spoiled by my cracker barrel experiences in the south, as far south as Florida. I decided to order breakfast from this location from Grub Hub because my experiences with Cracker Barrel in the past have all been pretty good (atleast the quality of the food). Ordered the double meat breakfast, 3 eggs over easy, perfect, bacon and sausage, great, grits, absolutely horrible and severely undercooked, they are called grits, but they don't have to be gritty, biscuits, underwhelming with no jam, and gravy, meh. I have come to the conclusion that some cracker barrels are better than others. Well at least when it comes to breakfast. The most annoying part was it didn't come with utensils and I was at a hotel, so I had to go down to the front desk and beg the hotel staff for something I selected when I made my order on grub hub. There is a box for that. This was my second time ordering with grub hub and the second time I requested utensils by checking the box and not receiving them. I did complain and they gave me $10 towards my next order which seemed a bit excessive. But I guess $10 is cheaper than fixing whatever is going wrong with their order processing. So the 3 rating is just for the quality of the food alone and nothing else, but thanks for listening to me rant. I feel better already. read more

Tried Cracker Barrel for the first time and it was amazing. I did a to go order but the lady at the front was nice. I ordered the French toast with fried chicken. I love those cute bottles that the syrup came in! Now the chicken was oh so crispy, not a lot of batter and seasoned to perfection. The French toast was ok but I added some syrup to it! Everything we ordered was bland except for the damn broccoli. We orders 2 fish Friday meals & a fried chicken meal for pick up. The best item was by far the regular pancakes with I paid $1.99 extra for on the side of one of the fish meals. We probably will not return to this location unless for breakfast in the future. For $50 I expect much tastier food. It does not have to be loaded with salt but some items have to be seasoned while cooking not after. read more

We ordered from Cracker Barrel to our hotel and it was delivered in 1/2 hr. You order right from them, and they get someone to deliver it to your room/door. I had the grilled steak which was nice and juicy but it wasn't cooked medium to well done. It was a little more pink in side but still delicious. 3 sides of veggies with the meal - potato, broccoli and corn I chose. All delicious. Had that wonderful chocolate cake for dessert - divine! I like the Uncle Hershel's Breakfast. Two basted eggs (they don't do poached) with biscuits and gravy and grits, plus hashbrown casserole and a grilled pork chop. Where to begin? First, Cracker Barrel in general is going downhill. I mean if 2 people order something, they should have it on separate plates. Wanting to conserve time by eliminating 1 dish to wash is not a valid excuse. So if you eat here with your business colleagues, just prepare to eat off the same dish. Maybe they expect everybody to get drunk at what was once a family friendly restaurant. It is not a bar and it is not a place to hang out. If you want a drink, go to a bar. If you want family friendly atmosphere, well you can't really come here anymore. The experience tonight at this particular Cracker Barrel in Winchester was poor. Our waitress was clueless and seemed to be a little cranky. When we asked for a plate (see below why we had to do this.) First, I ordered sweet tea. When she brought the tea, it was unsweet. Seeing how I know this could have been a minor mistake, it didn't really bother me much. Until the second she left the table, another guest complained about the tea. I had to flag her down to have it corrected. She kinda scolded me as if I was telling a fib saying "I gave you sweet tea!" She brought it back to the table and all I saw in the bottom was what looked like 4 tablespoons of sugar. Next, the biscuits and gravy. Brought out 1 plate of biscuits. Note there was seriously ONE plate; for 3 people. Also no butter or jellies. The gravy was also in ONE bowl. Then finally the plate I ordered. They put a filler onto my plate. It was tomatoes. I am not a fan of tomatoes and having the rest of my food tainted with tomato juice. Nothing like chicken, gravy and tomato juice. Sounds delicious, right? No! I seriously wanted my gravy on my biscuits, but instead they smothered it on the chicken. (Note, the menu did not specify that the chicken would be smothered. Instead it said "2 eggs, your choice of meat, one breakfast side and biscuits and gravy.). So again, they want to save a few seconds by not having to wash a bowl. So honestly, I am done with Cracker Barrel. Food and service has really gone downhill. Tonight the food was mediocre, but not as good as it used to be. read more

Just read an article that your sales are down. I can tell you why I rarely eat at Cracker Barrel. You've removed too much off your menu! Bring back more soup, more sandwiches, especially, the Reuben! Let me start out by saying that if you plan on dining during peak times, do yourself a favor and download the Cracker Barrel app so you can get on the waiting list prior to your arrival. While others are standing around getting more and more frustrated by the wait, you will have hardly any wait at all. We went on a busy Sunday at lunchtime. There were tons of people standing around, but our wait was minimal due to getting on the wait list about 15 minutes prior while driving over. Once seated we were worried that it might take awhile to get served due to the full capacity, but we were oh so wrong. This place was run like a well oiled machine! The manager cleaned tables as diners finished. Servers helped with each other's tables. Our meals were served within 5 minutes of ordering. We were constantly checked on. And, as usual, the food was delicious. I wish all locations were this good all-around. The gift shop also had a great selection of goodies. I can never leave CB without finding something in the store. Their prices are very fair, too. I will definitely stop at this location the next time I'm driving through. read more

I really enjoy going to Cracker Barrel for dinner. They do have good food. The ONLY thing that I felt was wrong were the biscuits. They were a little under cooked that night we went. The service was okay. It was hard to get our server's attention whenever we needed something though. They weren't that busy when we were there. We got there around 6:30 PM on a Thursday night. Ambiance was good too. I do recommend their new dish of the hash brown topped Shepherd's pie. Yes, it's $16.99, but, oh so worth it! I received the trout, 2 sides of dumplings, 2 child containers of chocolate milk (big difference) and who knows what this tea is but it is no 1/2 & 1/2! Sunday morning breakfast at Crap a Barrel. Location at 200 Front Royal Pike, Winchester, VA 22602 Ordered breakfast and the eggs had dirty grill bits all over them. The slacker in the kitchen failed to clean the grill. Also ordered hashbrowns and was served Raw shredded potatoes. Absolute Garbage. Bacon was reheated, and not fresh. Toast was cold. Complained to the women who claimed to be a Manager, and she was not surprised and did nothing to attempt to fix the issue. She did say the grill was most likely not cleaned the night prior. If you go here anyway, you will also notice a garbage smell where you are seated, that's because the place is very dirty. You are better off eating at McDonalds, at least they have some standards in place. Oh, by the way the gift shop is loaded with Pagan products for Halloween and Unicorn Glass figures. Had Jessie as a server. She was prompt, polite, and very efficient throughout our meal. The restaurant was clean, well lit, and had a nice fire going in the fireplace. The atmosphere is one of families and friends enjoying some quality time together. The chatter is quite nice and adds to the dining experience. Some may not appreciate the talking, but when I hear tables of people laughing and chatting, it means they aren't complaining. That's a great sign in a restaurant! The pricing is justified for what it is you get. No fuss there, either. I have one area here that gets under my skin, and has me rating the place as a 4 instead of 5. The mask issue. Everyone sees it however they want, and I'm no different. I, personally, like to see the faces of those who are taking my order and handling my food. I don't fear their cooties, but I do hate having to ask, repeatedly, what a server has said due to their mouth being covered. As I said, that's my only gripe about this chain. So we decided to give it s try, for about 9.95 you get generously coated 4 piece fried chicken dinner, two sides and corn bread or biscuits. Real greasy and salty that tastes good at first and fills you up quick. In the middle of the night I came to realize just how salty, oh my I'm having s hard time breathing and I have an unquenchable thirst.
