The proprietor was busy cleaning the exterior of the place and we asked (in Spanish) if he was open and he answered back in English that yeah, we could come on inside. Sometimes little happenstance discoveries make life the best, and this is one of them. There's a very small brewery room where beer is made right on the premises. It's not the fanciest of operations, but it works. We opted for a sampler of local beers from regions throughout the country. The portion sizes of the sampler were huge. I had a large bottle of water and our total check was less than $6 U.S. The guy also popped fresh popcorn for us as a bar snack. The vibe is really cool, with loud Spanish music and an open (practically outdoor) beer garden feel. Instead of a traditional German look, it felt more like a warehouse with rad graffiti and street art all over. Since it was still early, we were the only folks inside until two older American women wandered in. They came up to the bar where we were quietly enjoying the beer and conversation in Spanish with the man there and loudly yelled out "do you have BELGIAN BEER?!?" No kidding. He was so polite and said no, they only had Mexican beer. The ladies were none to happy with this and said something along the lines of "what kind of brewery doesn't have Belgian beer?" and left. We then all three proceeded to shake our heads, roll our eyes, and poke fun at them. Ridiculing idiots is the universal language that can bring us all together, LOL.

But walking down the street one day while exploring Mazatlan, we stumbled across Cueva Del Diablo. This is an amazing open air craft beer bar with some delicious offerings. Pale Ale's, Red's, IPA's etc. This is exactly what I needed and have been searching for all week. Even the locals I asked didn't know about this place. Cueva needs to be put on the map, especially with such good beers on tap. However, their is an apartment right above the brewery that has a patio overlooking the entire establishment. This patio sadly held the most obnoxious POS dog on the planet that was incessantly barking at every patron in this place. It was so obnoxious that it caused us to leave prematurely. So if someone could do away with it that would be great. Mkay.

My latte was perfect, the chorizo hash was good, my husband said his eggs Benedict was the best he's had, and the carrot cake was great. Our server was very pleasant and fluent in English. The desserts and pastries on display all looked amazing! I wish we would have found this place earlier in the trip so we could try more of them! We had tried to find it a couple of days prior, but it wasn't where Google mapped us. We later found it five blocks or so down the road. Just look for the address.

She seemed very experienced with the area and recommended that we go into Allegro for coffee/cakes, etc. We took her words for it. Great idea. Allegro didn't look highly decorated or fancy from the outside, but when you walk into the dark cafe room, it's actually more spacious than it appears. Plenty of available tables & chairs! Staff was friendly and they understand & speak English. Very great customer service at the counter. Good coffee & latte. We tried the carrot cake and banana cream pie. Very portions and delicious. Yes, this dark interior place with nothing fancy outside turned out to be a very relaxing stop with very clean restrooms. They had pretty much everything you would find at a local cafe. It reminded me of a mini Starbucks type place, but this one is better and more quiet. Low foot traffic. Plenty to choose from! They do serve main dishes: breakfast/lunch, etc. We will likely come back again in the future. Absolutely tourism friendly with great staffs working at the front counter.
