Palmyra is a pretty small town, so we wanted to try a small local diner and get some simple food. I ordered a really basic breakfast of 2 pancakes, 2 eggs and 2 sausage links (for some reason, the sausage links were extra, even though the name "2-2-2" implies it comes with them, like huh? ) and my husband got a breakfast muffin sandwich. Both of our orders were so bland and boring, I felt so ripped off. What is the point of going out to eat to a diner or a restaurant if they can't offer you something slightly above "just barely" okay? I can't find a reason to stop and eat here, at least for breakfast. If you can't do staples right, what makes you think I trust you to make something more complex and experimental taste good? Don't waste your time here, seriously. read more

Wanted a good breakfast before leaving the area. Akropolis Restaurant fit the bill. The pancakes were fluffy and big. My daughter loved them. The steak & eggs were good portions and we appreciated being able to substitute sweet potato fries instead of hash browns. Typical diner type setting. Small bathrooms but functional. Friendly staff. Had a privilege to sit down and eat this evening had their prime rib special definitely want to get it rare, but it was amazing. Everything was cooked perfect and great service will definitely be going back before we leave. Also had breakfast the next morning and it was absolutely amazing. I was underwhelmed with my experience here. For diner food the prices were fair but the quality could be better. The service was wonderful. Everyone encountered was pleasant and helpful. The decor is a bit outdated and could use an upgrade. I ordered a burger and fries. The burger was incredibly thin and the fries tasted like bagged frozen fries. Nothing to rave about. My family decided to go to this restaurant the other day for a quick meal. When we arrived we got clam chowder and the waiter informed us after it was served that she usually tells people not to get it since it is awful. She was correct, it was basically flour, water, and potatoes. Unfortunately this is the only food item we received since our waiter forgot to give our order to the kitchen. We had waited an hour and never received anything expect drinks and the chowder so we left. We were very hangry so this made us even more upset that we never were able to eat. I do not think I will ever eat here again or recommend this place unless there are major changes. read more

Ordered fried pickles. They were burnt, so the kitchen remade them. They didn't taste any better. Way too much pepper and had a weird (not in a good way) sweet taste. The ranch dipping sauce didn't taste like ranch, so not sure what it was. The macaroni salad was tasteless; adding salt didn't do much. My husband got the Greek salad with gyro meat. The dressing had way too much vinegar in it. The peppers were too acidic and much spicier than you'd expect. He normally eats them, but one bite and he wouldn't go near it again. The pita bread was good. I got the chicken Slovakia. The tzatziki sauce was good. The chicken was way overcooked; it was close to being jerky. The potato's were good as long as they had the yellow stuff on it. The ones that didn't were pretty tasteless. The rice had way too much of whatever spice was in it. I couldn't eat it. And there were 2-3 cups of cooked rice and 2 cups of the diced potatoes. It was just too much food. With everything my plate came with, you're talking roughly 7-8 cups of food total. I guess you could say it's good value, but overall, it was a terrible meal and I left most of it there. I'm glad it wasn't very expensive. Our waitress was nice and attentive and I didn't have to ask for refills on my water. All of them seem to know the regulars well. It's a hole in the wall place that could use some renovation. As a tourist who's been here twice and will likely come again, I'll be avoiding it the next time I come. read more

We thought a burger sounded good, though we weren't quite sure what to expect with the name of the restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was fresh. Hot. Delicious. Yummy fries. Based on the reviews, you might not want to go to this place. But it was near where we docked the boat, we were traveling along the Erie Canal. We walked into town and found the Akropolis family restaurant. From the exterior, you could see that it's really well taken care of. Beautiful flowers, all over the entryway of the brick building. There were a couple of little tables outside for people who want to sit outside. We chose to sit outside with our puppy, and the waitress, Jill, was absolutely amazing. my omelette was perfect. The hashbrowns were delicious and the only thing I could say they need to work on is their coffee. Very very watery and weak. But it's not going to take away from their five star review. The Akropolis has become our home away from home on Fridays in particular for Seafood, but also on other nights when I prefer not to prepare something at home. The owner and his Staff treat customers as Family, and take special care to be sure we are well fed and happy with our meal. My favorite is Haddock stuffed with Spinach and feta cheese, with a side of Sweet Potato Fries and the Salad which comes with the meal. The soups are always tasty and enjoyable additions if not selected as your side. During the 2020 part of Covid, they consistently provided a welcome respite from cooking with their great Take-Out service. Friendly waitress who provided great service home fries had a nice crispy greasy char to them. The menu states homemade corned beef hash, I'm glad I asked cause it's not. I opted for the homemade biscuits and gravy, the biscuits were butter and neither dense nor flaky, just kind of in-between. The gravy was plentiful, not too flavorful and not too sausagey. The breakfast here is reasonably priced and you have good portions! Pancakes have great flavor and are dense, which is how I like them. Scrambled eggs, omelettes, home fries, and sausage all have good flavoring and seasoning. Bacon is just slightly too well done for me but is probably perfect for most people. We've gone here a few times a year for probably ten years, when we are in town. Their lunch sandwiches are also good and my favorite is the grilled Rueben. Service is always friendly and what you would expect from a hometown diner. Prices are good and you get a healthy portion for the price. Unfortunately, one time I ordered their special which was a seafood platter and it didn't sit well with me. Being from a coastal state, I shouldn't venture too far inland and order fresh seafood. read more

Really small restaurant. Good menu. The BBQ burger with bacon is delicious but everything else i've had there isn't very good. The salad bar is very small and poor choices. Some of our favorite items are the stuffed breakfast sandwich, hand breaded chicken tenders smothered in country sweet (make sure it is smothered), Philly cheesesteak pizza, and ruben sandwich.
