We waited about 45 minutes for our Sunday brunch. Not the first time we had a lengthy wait for brunch. There was no piped-in music and there weren't many people there at 10:30 but we could hear the couples conversation several tables away from us, and I'm sure they could hear ours and none of us were talking loudly. The restaurant is clean. The water views are lovely. The waitress was very pleasant, checking in with us during the long wait for our food. We've always experienced good wait staff here, but the kitchen must be the reason for the very slow service. When the food finally came, it was a nice presentation. It tasted good. 8/25/25 Let's talk about the spontaneous trip to MacGergor's a few months after Gordon left. My friend and I were famished so we decided to pop in a little after they opened. You choose in outdoor seating and the vibe was just right with the breeze off the water. Good lighting and music the bar looks well stocked. Jackie our server was soo great and attentive. We started with mocktails(coconut mojito, blackberry lime lemonade) they both hit. Next calamari a tad salty still liked them the jalapeños gave it a nice touch. I choose the rock fish tacos as my entree. They were good the mango salsa pulled it together on the warm corn tortillas. The side was chips and salsa from what tasted like Tostitos. But what out shined it all you ask......? The blueberry pie of course, it was absolutely perfect with the scoop of ice cream. Last minute change of plans. We were going to a stop down the street, but saw MacGregor's and changed our mind. We stepped into the outside area and sat at the bar. The day was perfect and the view was even better. The bartender Silky, was the best. Very attentive, extremely nice, and made my wife's birthday weekend even greater than it was. The food was amazing and a group sitting next to us bought us a drink. It was sure nice of them and certainly unexpected. We stopped in midday today and it was our first time at MacGregor's. The restaurant had a really wonderful view of the water, seating is very comfortable, and the place is clean. We love this place, it's been such an amazing experience for us. The history that this building represents is the lifeblood of this town. They have recently renovated, mostly because of the influence of Gordon Ramsey, but it looks amazing, It speaks to the dedication of the ownership's commitment to improve. Are they perfect? No. But, what they do offer is a slice of small town America. Local seafood, classic American fare, and a chance to see the American dream in action. The people are hard working locals that love this restaurant and this town. They off vegetarian options, which is kind of rare in this area, and they're very accommodating to special requests. Been here a few times over the years. Brando was our server and did a nice job. The vibe is cool on the deck overlooking the Susquehanna. Crab Dip was really good and full of crab meat. Wife got a Hemingway Daiquiri. She liked it I thought it was disgusting. She got rock fish tacos. 2 with tater chips. She liked them. I got the Brie/Bacon/fig jam burger. I've been going to this restaurant for 20 + years. Always a pleasant experience. My tips average about 40%. On 9/5/25 my friend and I had a late lunch. All new served faces. The one person we knew we called by name to say hello. He never even acknowledged us. 50% tips prior. I am handicapped and park in front in a handicapped space. There was no signs not to park only that Havre De Grace has a first Friday at 5 pm. We waited over 45 minutes for our food with hardly a soul there. Halfway thru Brando( waiter) comes to our table and asks if that was my car in the handicapped space at their entrance. The cane was a dead give away. So at 2:30 pm I was forced to move.. So I am basically a cripple. I was forced to drive down a Hill and walk 400 feet to park. Walk reverse up hill. Painful. Then back again. The Havre De Grace cop, Lantham,when advised that it was against Federal Law to force someone out of a handicapped space, I told him that I was filing a complaint. " Have at it " was his response. What a POS for a cop. My friend who is a lifetime resident of Port Deposit and Perryville, MD could not believe the cop or restaurant. He control Teddy the cop too. So 2 1/2 hours before I get the boot out of the restaurant. 15% tip was 15% too high. Now I'll take 1200 MG Ibuprofen for pain. Never again. read more

Parking is plentiful around this spot and the view is nice in the day time and at night. We had reservations and dined on the patio in wonderland, which was pretty awesome! They hung lights and decorated it very festively! Not to mention the selfie wall swan! Corrie was one of the sweetest servers. I wish she could have eaten more of the foods to make more recommendations, but that didn't affect her sweetness. We ordered drinks and starters and then go onto the meal. The Brussel sprouts were very much drenched in oil and spices. And the French onion soup was too salty to finish, but familiar. It's the first time I saw a Monte Cristi deep fried. The MacNCheese dish was too much of a weird cheese on top of fried chicken with interestingly flavored pasta. The holiday special Turkey Dinner was lacking items and too salty. And the Big Island Chicken was also quite salty with an overall blah in textures. The desserts were also alright. Well, the pumpkin pie was a little too gelatinous and the bourbon soaked little cake was more mouse than cake but delicious. There is a clean restroom on the deck but more inside. Overall, Pretty mid. And not even in my top three for Grace. My family went to HDG for a night out tonight and when Oakley's had a 30 min wait, we decided to try something new with MacGregor's. The Service was very slow and inattentive and food was meh. We waited 10+ mins just to get our drink order. Once our food arrived it was pretty disappointing. My wife ordered the grilled salmon salad, and it came with maybe 3 oz of salmon. The smallest, saddest piece of meat. My fish and chips were ok. Honestly my kids pizza looked most appetizing. the best part of the evening was the live music, which we really enjoyed before leaving. read more

I've heard many great things about MacGregor's, but our recent visit with a party of 6 left a lot of room for improvement and much to be desired from a Friday night dinner out. It was easy to call in and make a reservation over the phone - the place was only moderately busy (but not full by any means) when we arrived, but I was nonetheless glad that I made an advance reservation. MacGregor's offers live music on Friday evenings, so we had requested to be seated away from the band so that we could talk more easily. Our table was in a corner of the dining room that would have afforded a nice view out towards the patio and water had it been daylight out. Our server was pleasant but was chronically absent over the course of the dinner service - we had to go out of our way to make ourselves known (basically waiving our arms around to get her attention) when we wanted another round of drinks later in the evening. It took nearly half an hour to take and serve our initial drink orders and bring waters, which was excessive given that the restaurant was not -that- busy. Perhaps the restaurant was understaffed in ways that could not be easily discerned from the dining room. The dinner menu seemed broad on its face, but lacked a good variety of entree-style dishes. I decided to go with a Greek salad and added a salmon filet on top. This was a mistake. The salad was decently portioned but the filet - my goodness - I have never seen a piece of salmon served this way. It was not a filet, but more like a slice of a filet. Dry, small, and sad-looking, it arrived on top of my salad (along with everyone else's food) over an hour after we had been seated. At this point, I was hungry, and not interested in sending it back after all that time had passed, so I ate it. Overall, I don't plan on rushing back here anytime soon. read more

We're local so we had went here several times in the past, the food was always subpar. After Ramsay came, we decided to give it another try to see if things improved - they in fact did not. The crab dip was one of the worst I've ever had in my life if not the worst because I couldn't even eat it which has never happened...majorly burnt, the crab definitely did not taste fresh (tasted like they went back to the canned crab) and just had an odd taste. They had no mint for mojitos and instead made something else, which was horrible and charged at full price. The kids burger was burnt, and my mom (who is a huge crab cake lover and not super picky about them) said it did not taste fresh. Even the Caesar salad that we each spent an extra $5-$6 on, tasted funky. Spent almost $200 on burnt food that did not taste fresh )-: We've given this establishment so many chances, will not be giving anymore. read more

We ate here last Saturday, 10/19. We were excited because we had been here before and had enjoyed it. We were greeted immediately and seated. Our server was wonderful, cheerful and friendly. We received our drinks and everything went downhill quickly. We ordered our starters and waited. And waited. 45 minutes later they come out. The crab dip was delicious. The mussels were terrible. Half of them didn't even have the beards removed! After that we waited. And waited. And waited . 1 hour and 15 minutes for our meals to arrive. People who were seated AFTER US got their food. My wife's crab and corn soup was lukewarm. Would have been nice if it was hot. My fish and chips was disgusting. The batter was over cooked on the outside and thick and gooey on the inside. It was also completely tasteless. The only thing right was the French fries. We also had an order of chessie Mac and cheese. The shrimp was barely cooked enough to be edible. NOTHING AT ALL IN THE ORDER WAS HOT. Everything was lukewarm. The only bright spot was that our server kept his cool and was totally upbeat and friendly. I felt sorry that he was put in a bad position. I will not be returning to the restaurant anytime soon! read more

Went here for Easter Brunch. The location is great and there is plenty of parking either in the lot or on the street. Portions were large. Part of the Easter Breakfast was entree, fruit cup (very small) and two glasses of Champagne. We also had a cocktail. The service was poor. We never received the included bubbly. We made a couple of requests for water before we each received a plastic cup. One of four party did not have a napkin or knife & fork. After asking a couple of times we finally got up on our own and took one off another table. Overall the food was mediocre. My best suggestion would be for the waitress to write things down so the customers requests are not neglected. I don't think I will be returning unless it is to just have some drinks in the bar area. read more

I went with friends on Thanksgiving. Their mood was warm and cozy and all the servers were very helpful with their advice. I craved the more traditional meal, and they had a plan that allowed me to customize a bit and get my fill of familiar flavors and textures. I really loved this spot and though we went at night in Winter, I look forward to coming during the day in Spring or Summer. I'd imagine the breeze while eating would be amazing. read more
