Very pleasantly surprised. Met up with a friend for a long-awaited girls reunion on a Sunday morning for brunch. It was a sticky, humid day, so we opted to sit in an enclosed patio with air conditioning. It was a good choice for us. We could have a good long convo, hear each other well, and not feel rushed (we did tip very well at the end, knowing we were seated a little longer than those who were just there for a meal. The miss: The crab bruscetta flatbread. Very very very small amount of crab - I'd describe as almost flakes of crab. Otherwise OK. The good: I thoroughly enjoyed my Monte Cristo breakfast sandwich. We are locals, we try to support the business owners in town. The view is gorgeous we dined on the deck. We were greeted and seated within minutes. This is important we have tried other establishments,and felt completely ignored like were were invisible. Our server Olivia is the best, she is professional and has a sweet personality, you feel welcome right away. Took my husband for lunch today for Father's Day and we had a great time. There was a 10-minute wait for tables and we sat outside on the patio. The patio seating is the best, the view is amazing. The patio sits on the Susquehanna river and the Amtrak crosses the bridge. I ordered a rum punch & my husband ordered a strawberry mule of which were really good. I ordered my usual steak salad and he ordered a Caesar wrap with jumbo shrimp. After all these years the steak salad taste the same as it did over 5 years ago. The steak is always medium well, lettuce, roasted corn and tomatoes are always fresh, and the dressing, I think they changed the dressing but it was still good. Got the eggs Delmarva with lump crab - so good! The crab meat was sweet and perfectly cooked. The potatoes had a crisp texture and was delicious with onion. Not pictured is the French toast which had a healthy plate of 6 slices. Bloody Mary and Mimosa: $5 each. Love it! Then we noticed the massive group entering and second guessed our spontaneous decision on this Saturday afternoon. We forged ahead and secured two seats in the bar area. There was one person servicing this section and it was also PACKED. There we learned that reservations are only made for the indoor dining room and that the rest is first come, first served. We chose the bar because we were HUNGRY, haha and the wait would have been too long. Our food took a while, but our drinks were quick and refreshing. Found this gem driving from Philly to Alexandria. Stopped for lunch, we had a grilled chicken sandwich and a crabcake sandwich. The food was delicious, the server was adorable and friendly. The view was just what we needed. My only issue was that we sat on the lawn by the water and it was covered in duck poo. I love the idea of the ducks waddling around however I would encourage them to consider roping off the areas where tables are. You literally have to walk through landmines to get to and from your table and then you're eating while smelling duck poo. Maybe just sit on the patio lol read more

Came in just for drinks since grabbed dinner in the area. Parking could be issue as this is tucked away off the street which makes for some terrific views and. Great space for outdoor seating. Sat in the bar. They do have a specialty cocktail menu. Ordered a Bulleit Sidecar and an extra dirty martini. They were made well and were both good. The place was busy and anyone sitting in the bar area at the high tops were told that there was no server and they had to order at the bar themselves. A little tricky when trying to order food and drinks while people sitting at the actual bar. I understand that it's hard to find help, but this would be a deterrent for patrons. The bartender was extremely helpful and friendly. She also knows how to make a great drink! They do add 4% on any bill that is paid with a debit or credit card. They do advertise an ATM on premise for cash option that won't include this fee. Not sure if the fee to use it would be less than the 4% they will add though. I am sure that they also make a percentage of the ATM fees. Just sharing so that you are aware. Overall, seems like a nice place if sitting in the restaurant area. Not sure about the food as we only grabbed a quick drinks. Did see some dishes come out, but nothing g that was attention grabbing. The views from the outside dining area were terrific. read more

I was visiting family who live nearby and we decided to have lunch here one day. Its been years since I have been here and it was a great experience. It was a warm day but we wanted to sit on the outside patio near the water. We had a nice table with an umbrella so we could have some shade. It was not too, too hot outside. Our waiter was attentive and answered our questions. I had the shrimp salad sandwich on a pretzel roll with a side of fries. I loved the shrimp salad. It was very tasty and a hearty portion. The pretzel roll had a good flavor but it was a bit chewy, maybe not fresh. Fries were crisp and tasty. The rest of the group had a yacht club, the burger and the spinach salad. My boyfriend and I came for dinner. It was so busy, hard to find parking. We waited over 40 minutes to be seated which was fine and expected on a nice day. They have crab is just about everything as people from Maryland love, but I am not too crazy about it. I wanted the shrimp and crab quesadilla without the crab, but was informed they mix it together in the morning and are unable to have it separate. The spicy cucumber jalapeño margarita wasn't my favorite, it was different but I was not crazy about it. My boyfriend had the chicken tenders but they were nothing to call home about. We have been here a couple times mainly for brunch and before it was awesome but sadly today was not one of those days. We sat inside instead of out due to all the Mayflies. The food was not good just mediocre at best for the money. Had the mussels red for appetizer. Not flavorful at all, many mussels were closed and not safe to eat. We eat a lot of mussels red and these were not good, very watered down marinara. I had the crab cake sandwich and fries, my other half ordered off the brunch menu and had the carb Benedict. Now we had this before and it was fantastic he said not this time. Service was off I can't explain it. It dealt like no one was organized. Hostess was very friendly. Our waitress took roughly 10 minutes of being seated to even greet us or ask us about drinks. Then forgot to ask our kid what she wanted to drink. Food timing was good. It was not busy at all when we first got there. Brought our meals and no napkins took way too long to come and check on us. Just very off experience from the other times we have been there. That dish needs more attention in the kitchen. The rest of the meal was much better. The mussels were a highlight -- the sauce was rich and flavorful, and the mussels were plump and fresh. I also tried the crab bites from the happy hour menu -- absolutely delicious and surprisingly well done for a bar bite. The quesadilla was good too -- cheesy and flavorful, though a bit greasy from all the melted cheese. Not a complaint, just something to note if you're ordering. And I have to shout out the Manhattan -- so good I ended up having two. Perfectly balanced and smooth. Came here during an overnight to the area and was in the mood for seafood. Truthfully, there aren't many restaurant options in this town, but the food looked great. I was able to be seated on their outdoor, but enclosed patio. Just off the outside of the patio is a large grassy area, towards the water, with chairs, tables, etc. It was rainy when I went, but I could see how this would be an enjoyable area to pass time. I ordered the cream of crab soup and broiled seafood platter. The soup was flavorful, but the seafood platter was very bland. The scallops were cooked to perfection though. Service was ok. We have been customers of Tidewater many times through the years, but we will no longer. Food is usually decent, albeit some dishes seem overpriced. I called to make a reservation for 15 - 2:00, 13 days from today. I just received a callback stating they did not have room for a group of 15. I then requested two groups - one with seven and one with eight. Hostess returned to phone, and said manager said they couldn't do that either; however, said manager was "unavailable" to speak to me? So unprofessional! We've had large groups go to Tidewater many times, often before they added loads of additional seating outside. I'm perplexed? I purposely tried to make the reservation after lunch and before dinner, when the restaurant often has few patrons. Doesn't make much business sense to me, but we will take our business elsewhere. read more

Prior to yesterday evening my wife and I enjoyed our dining experience at Tidewater. Upon being seated, there was a group that obviously had enjoyed themselves judging by the high volume conversation and laughter that filled the dining area. It was so loud and obtrusive we couldn't hear ourselves and moved to another room. Our waitress was a sweetheart but beyond her the experience was very disappointing. My wife ordered salmon which she enjoyed. She ordered the grilled corn which was laughable not only in the minuscule portion but the fact it tasted as if it was out of can ! My jumbo shrimp were very tasty with a sweet sauce. I ordered the recommended brussel sprouts which looked like shaved broccoli, so much so I thought they made a mistake ! Brussel sprouts are phenomenal when grilled, braised in a wok or even flash fried. These too tasted like they were out of a can and boiled. The best part of the evening was the ice cream and vanilla malt shake at the venerable Arctic Circle. A bad night? Maybe but I doubt we will return anytime soon. read more

My 3rd time here and I pick it not for the food but for the location on the water. I came on the 4th of July in the middle of a heatwave so we settled for the inside. We met friends from Ohio and was hoping to show them a good Maryland seafood meal. The restaurant isn't really a seafood place. No raw bar, disappointing. Flies were an issue. The staff was very friendly and helpful, from the bus boys to the hostess, server, who was very attentive. Beautiful views, nice decor, and a very welcoming atmosphere. My date's salmon was excellent, I got the porterhouse, for the price, I expected a thicker cut and a little more char. The drinks were spot on. The sides were good and all in all we were happy with our meals. Might I suggest you go up the street and get your meats from Galvinell? I had lunch with a friend and sat outside this past Friday. Our waitress, Grace, was pleasant, efficient and helpful but, unfortunately, that is the only positive thing I can say about lunch. I had the shrimp salad open faced ($18) and a side caesar salad ($4.50). The portion was small and the shrimp looked as though they came from a can. They were very small and had a weird texture, not at all like the large, fresh, pink and flavorful shrimp I enjoyed here in the past. The orange crush was passable ($13), but not anything special. The side Caesar was just okay. I don't see returning here in the future even though it is close to home and on the water. I'm sorry to see that the Tidewater is just not up to par. read more

And the bread was stale. I ordered dessert a piece of cake with walnuts. I ate half and brought the rest home. Went to eat the next day and it was moldy! The coffee and hot chocolate was awful too! Like they microwaved the water. What a waste of money. We are there over the summer and it was not do good. But we thought it would be nice to lunch with a view of the water. Review of Tidewater Grill - November 1 Visit After participating in the Suicide Prevention Walk in Havre de Grace on November 1, our group of walkers, volunteers, and organizers chose to visit Tidewater Grill. Unfortunately, our experience at the bar was disappointing, however, I should've known better when I saw who the bartender was. Based on prior visits, I've noticed that when she works (Abby the Bar Manager), many guests tend to avoid sitting at the bar -- and this visit confirmed why. She was unprofessional, and seemed uninterested in providing good service. We had to go to the bar ourselves to order drinks, and we were never offered menus. One member of our group, who uses a wheelchair, was also with us, which made the lack of attention even more frustrating. Once we moved to a table, the service improved dramatically with Kristen . She was attentive, the food was excellent, and we appreciated how well the dining staff treated us. On a past occassion, she was busy on her cellphone in the employees side instead of checking on her customers. It's unfortunate that inconsistent service from the bar manager has affected what could otherwise be a great experience. Hopefully, this feedback helps others know what to expect -- and helps the restaurant improve its bar service moving forward. We have been there several times and have had outstanding service by other bartenders. Our experience yesterday, was the finally straw with her. I've also met others at Tidewater who have stated they that they avoid the bar when she is working. Most of us only come when Jason is working on Monday's. read more

This is my second visit at Tide water grill, my first visit was average, my food wasn't impressive and I was seated inside, which idk if it is just me but has a moldy inside, provably the carpet. My second visit, which was with a group of coworkers (5 people), we stopped by for a quick lunch, in which we were seated outside by the water and it was great. Atmosphere: It was the perfect weather outside so sitting under an umbrella by the water was very refreshing, if you get the chance, I'd definitely recommend sitting outside. Food: I ordered the chicken/bacon melt, which came with a side of pickle and boardwalk fries. I was really pleased with my food, especially the fries were yummy. Just finished an incredible meal at Tidewater and had to leave a review! We were able to secure a table for 12 last minute on a Monday night and from the moment we entered our waitress, Olivia, did everything she could to make our experience memorable. She treated our table with courtesy and patience (dining with 4 young kids) and did an exceptional job confirming safe food choices for our so. Who has severe food allergies. The food was INCREDIBLE-- crab cake was by far the best I have ever had and the mussels and steaks were delicious -- everything was prepared exactly as we asked and Olivia went above and beyond to check in on us and make this a wonderful dining experience. What a great place. Great atmosphere, very nice staff, nice outside eating, its always an hour wait but has a good bar for the wait. If going outside make sure your done before night fall as there is very limited lighting, I had to use my phone to read the menu and see my food. Not sure why the band was in the inside. Nice views of the river. Aps : the scallops bacon jelly was amazing, fish and chips great but french fries were bit soggy, mixed Clam soup (white and red) was fantastic, ahi tuna tasted great.
