Unethical! My daughter took her truck to Machado's because she had an issue with the fan. After "assessment", the mechanic at Machado's called her and told her it was a thermostat malfunction and it would cost $2000 to fix and she better not drive it because it's dangerous. Luckily she called a friend who immediately told her NO! A thermostat is probably $50 and can easily be installed. Go pick up the truck! We took it to another local mechanic down the street and all that was needed was the code needed to reset. They didn't even charge her! The mechanic at Machado's dishonesty is just shameful! And trying to take advantage of a young lady is despicable! You'd think in this day and age, the cliche mechanic taking advantage of a female in distress was long gone....but clearly it still exits. My car broke down on a road trip and was towed into Machado's. Transmission shot. I'm about 100 miles from home and I've got a big dog with me. They went above and beyond to call a rental car company for me, and hold onto my car for the night until I could have it towed home. They did this free of charge. Literally just because they cared. While on my way from SF to San Diego, the latch for the hood of my car wouldn't lock. I stopped at a gas station to check if the mechanic could help me, but his only solution was to tie down my hood. For an 8 hour drive I was NOT about to do that and I started stressing out so hard, thinking I'd have to take my car in somewhere and pay for a new part. My car was making a clicking sound when switching from park to drive, or drive to reverse. Since this was my first time visiting an autoshop in Livermore, I took a chance with Machado's due to the stellar reviews. They diagnosed the vehicle and notified me of the issue/estimated cost. They needed to order the part, so they stated I could keep the vehicle until the part arrived in a few days. When I picked up the car, they didn't even take payment for the diagnostic, and stated I could pay all at once after the repair (wow, that's trust for a first time customer). I dropped off the car again once the part arrived and picked it up a few hours later, the issue was solved. I checked the part cost at a reputable online dealer vs what I had been charged, as well as the total labor hours, and honestly I haven't seen a more fair cost for work. I was extremely happy with the overall service provided. After I got home, I had the car parked in front of my house for a few days, and when I pulled out for the first time, I noticed a fresh reddish pinkish liquid on the asphalt under the car. I touched it with a napkin and confirmed it was coming from my vehicle. I called Machado's immediately and they told me to bring it by for a diagnostic that day. They called me same day and stated that the seal that holds the transmission fluid had been compromised due to their repair, and took full ownership of the cost to replace and repair as part of their 3 year 36,000 mile warranty on all of their work. Since the repair, the car has been driving better than ever. I have never worked with an auto shop this transparent, honest, and communicative throughout the entire process. Everyone I spoke to was friendly, and always waving and smiling as I came by. Special shoutout to Stephanie for the amazing communication. Brought in a car that I was planning to buy based on reviews about the shop. Owner just drove into the shop and immediately came to me to say that it obviously has a transmission problem as the shift from 1st gear was rough. He told me it looks like a serious problem and not to waste my money on a full check up. He also did a free diagnosis. He didn't charge me anything and he was super helpful and friendly. My 2014 Chevy Malibu all of a sudden started popping up with this "service airbag" notification and we could not figure out what was triggering it. My husband and I tested the seatbelts of each the driver and passenger seat and determined it must be a sensor issue with the weight of the seats. We found Machado's on yelp and called to describe the issue and asked if we would be able to drop off my car as soon as possible. They were super busy until the next day but allowed for us to drop my car off that same evening so they have it the next day to work on as soon as they were free. Stephanie at the front desk was who we spoke with on the phone and she was super helpful and told us she was able to free up the appointments in order to get my car looked at ASAP. By the next day, Stephanie called and said my car was ready to be picked up although they could not determine the cause of the sensor so they recommended I work with the dealership. I came to pick up my car and they did not charge me at all and even offered consultation if the dealership was weird about anything! 10/10 would recommend to all our Livermore friends and family. We will be sure to work with them again in the future for all our vehicle needs. read more

I HIGHLY recommend Machado's Auto Care. I had been looking for a mechanic and checked the Livermore Rants and Raves Facebook page as well as their yelp page. I initially called because I had a brake light that would stay on in my Chevy Surburban. Arny was very helpful over the phone and explained a number of reasons why it could stay on. I had asked about other issues I was having with two other vehicles. Not once did he try to rush the call. He was very informative and took his time to explain the answer to many questions I had. First I brought in my Surburban for a diagnostic. Sure enough my brake fluid was below the minimum requirements. I met Tom, the owner and he was very helpful and explained why I had several lights that would always stay one. Told me I needed to get my brakes done and topped off the brake fluid at no charge. He mentioned that the sensor in my front right tire was out as well and once I fixed that the other lights on my dash would go away. I replaced the sensor when I got my tires rotated and sure enough all the lights went away. I needed to get my son's Ford Focus in to get a new fuel pump so I could register it and sale it. My husband just didn't have the time or tools to work on it. Arny asked if I had AAA and reminded me that I could get them to tow my son's car to the shop since it was already apart of the fees I paid. They were short handed, but said they would look at the vehicle on Monday. I was in no rush. It wasn't running anyway. Tom called me as promised and let me know the diagnosis and they could have it done by Tuesday. I took both vehicles in last week. Yesterday, we brought in my Honda to get the transmission looked at. When I picked it up I spoke with Tom for quite a while just before they were closing. Tom is the nicest guy and very helpful. I ended up chatting with him until well after closing time. It was like we were old friends talking about our family and kids. These guys are honest and do great work. They have a new loyal customer. Today is Thanksgiving and I want to thank Machados Auto Care for helping my family when we were in need. This summer I was out on my first vacation since my scooter accident. My wife and 7 children were with me in our 12 passenger van. As we were driving the interstate 5 towards Sonoma we encountered a overheating problem from a heater coil going out. Our kids were hot and trip was suffering from being uncomfortable. Being from L.A. we knew of no place to call locally for help. We were forced to get off the freeway from overheating. I drove several blocks asking someone to help me fix it to save my families vacation and they offered no help. So get this! I continue driving and find Machados Auto Care. I spoke to the owner and explained the situation and that my money was funny since being unmobile since my accident. I believe his name was Tom. He heard my desperateness and offered his personal help and man power of his employee. He not only jumped right on our car to get our family back on vacation, he gave us the best deal possible. Money was not the issue. In reference to The 1 star reviewer, you can't be talking about Tom and his business because I will not allow it. I spoke to him as he fixed my van and he is a respectable family and business man. If he did laugh, it was probably because you tried to know more about "HIS" profession. Had a great experience with Machados. They were recommended by a friend, so I actually drove my car to Livermore from Fremont to get the work done. I wouldn't typically drive that distance to a repair shop, but I needed to take it to a place I could trust since I was giving my car to a relative as a gift. I wasn't quite sure what was needed to fix it...I thought maybe the clutch needed replacing and the check engine light was on, so I was bracing for the worst. First off, everyone at Machados was pleasant to deal with. More importantly, they were able to diagnose the problem with no issue (master and slave cylinders leaking, hydraulic issue with clutch, fuel filter needed replacing, drive belt was cracked and then there were 2 error codes reported that were related to the catalytic converter). There were more things I could have had done, but weren't necessary at this point in time. The Machados team was knowledgable, honest and EXTREMELY thorough. I received the car back and couldn't be happier. I felt really good about giving the car away and she was driving like a dream. It's unfortunate to see that another Yelper had a bad experience... sounds like night and day compared to the interaction I had with them. I would definitely recommend them to my friends/family and my fiancé is actually bringing his car in to have some work done. We will post another review once we have the repairs done. read more

Came here on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving without an appointment. Didn't realize they were going to be closed Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and through the weekend. Arny still accepted my vehicle. I needed a complete rear brake service (Calipers, rotors, and pads) and an oil change. The work was completed by 3:00pm the same day. These guys are fantastic!!! I came in with my Toyota Sequoia because the engine light had come on. They quoted me the diagnostic price of $147 to look for the problem. A few hours later Tom called me back, and said they had found that the fuel cap was leaking, and this was likely the cause of the problem. They only charged me to replace the fuel cap, instead of the whole diagnostic. First time I've gone to a garage and spend LESS than they quoted me!! Everyone here is friendly and helpful, and they seem genuine about providing great service!!! Will go back for ALL our family's vehicles!!! read more
