We found this via a dining rewards site and it really satisfied my craving for Peruvian today! It's a small family spot that makes a killer ceviche. We had the trio de ceviche and the trio de causas as well. Both were phenomenal! Given they were trios I'd be remiss not to list my favorites in the event you'd like to choose just one. Personally, I like the traditional ceviche while my family preferred the ají amarillo. Of the Causas, my favorite is always the pulpo(octopus). I was craving ceviche made out of something other than a cheap farmed fish. This location offers Corvina as an option with a $5 dollar up charge. The ceviche was tough, not particularly fresh, and the accompanying corn was chewy and tasteless. It was shocking when I got the bill. One isn't even paying for the ambience. The TV was blaring in the background with some silly game show. I was the only customer in the place. That should've been my indication. The following day I went to Dr. Limon just a fee blocks away and got the same dish for 30% cheaper and 100% fresher. This place got me once. They'll never get me again. read more

A hidden gem in Kendall. I don't understand the negative reviews (I know that's a cliche thing to say). I've eaten at all the other Peruvian places and I'll take Machupicchu every time. Dr. Limon is good but always packed and not worth the drive out west; Pisco y Nazca is a "restaurant group" tourist trap that thinks it's a nightclub; and Ceviche 105 is ludicrously pretentious and expensive. If that's your style, then stick to those places. If you want unpretentious, home-cooked food, this is your restaurant. I've been coming to Machupicchu once a month for over a year and they have yet to disappoint me. The ceviche is delicious with ample portions, the lomo is super tender, the fried snapper is fresher than the other restaurants in the plaza, even the fried chicken for the kids is delicious. The desserts are tasty as well. The picarones (buñuelos) are made from a camote/pumpkin masa made in house and prepared to order. I grew up in Miami, my wife and mother-in-law are Ecuadorian, and my mom is Bolivian. We all rave about the food at this place. The atmosphere is a cozy mom and pop type place, run by an actual Peruvian family. It's rarely busy, but there are always 'regulars' there. That's a good sign. I brought my mom there and she thought the TV was too loud, so we asked if they could turn it down and they did. (Note to Gen-Z reviewers, you can ask adults to turn down the TV instead of complaining online about it, lol). The only thing that could improve is the speed at which the food comes out. It really is just the mom, dad, daughter and maybe one more person that run this place. Ordered delivery at 8:15pm through Doordash. Food never came. Got a notification at 8:51 that it was left outside, with a darkened photo, because I was 'not available'. No attempt to call me on my cell or even a call from the gate, which has to happen. Looked for the food, nowhere to be found. Treat people like humans, not dogs and don't leave there food somewhere outside for anything / anyone to grab without calling and saying you are lost. When I visit my family in MIami, we have dinner at Machu Picchu. They know my cousin here since she comes in with her family every week. We are seafood lovers and love ceviche, so we look forward to it each time. We usually let my cousin order for the table and split the dishes. We were very impressed by the Ceviche de Langosta y Pulpo ordered by another table, so we got that. It's an award winner and for good reason. They serve an entire lobster and octopus in a wonderful ceviche marinade sauce. We ordered the Carafe of Sangria, which was very good with the ceviches. My guy likes to order the different Peruvian beers and ordered a Cristal and Cusquena during dinner. We also had the Jalta Mixta, Lomo Saltado and Leche de Tigre Ceviche. The whole table was happy and sharing all of the plates, family style. The dinners are always worth the cost and so very delicious, especially if you love seafood. This little joint is located really close to my home and we have been there several times. I have always enjoyed it but I feel lately they have been putting their game face because the food has improved. Located on sunset drive and off 107 avenue is a little cozy restaurant that serves traditional and affordable Peruvian food. We decided to have a light dinner and ordered their fish ceviche, cow heart skewers, and grilled fish fillet. The ceviche was amazing, the fish was very fresh and the dish was not spicy at all. I would always recommend to order it not spicy so you can enjoy the flavor of the juice with the fish. The ceviche also includes corn, fried corn, and one of the sweetest potatoes I had in a while. The cow heart skewers was very tender and well seasoned, sometimes you think you are just eating bits of steak instead of a organ. The dish also includes golden crisp potatoes which goes really well with the green chili sauce. The main entree was the grilled fish with the red onion sauce called salsa Criolla, the fish was very tasty but not salty since we had the red onion to give it the extra kick. If I could give 0 stars I would. I use to come to this restaurant years ago and it was good. I usually go to Pizco y Nazca, but decide to come here since it was close by. I am so disappointed to say the food and the service were bad! I had good memories of this place but it looks like they have a new owner. Avoid this place! Also for the dishes they are charging for some of the ingredients. The salad that comes with the jale mixta is now being charged. This restaurant is a hidden gem. It's small but cozy, it's your typical "home cooked" style food you'd get in a traditional Peruvian home . They really achieve authentic Peruvian flavor in each dish that I have tried. My favorite thing to order here is the Lomo saltado or the lomo saltado with fettuccini pasta and huancaina sauce. Steer clear...go next door, you'll be happy your money was not wasted here! I used to frequent this place as their ceviche was always on point! Their items were usually fresh and the service prompt and courteous. Until about a year ago. My family and I came here...we used to get complimentary bread with some spicy green delicious sauce....some of the breads were extra toasty on the bottom and the sauce was bland!!!! Then there was the service...sheesh where to begin...let's sum it up this way. I don't think our waitress had ever waitresses before...nor had been exposed to a waitress in her life! Clueless!!!! Forgot to put in one of the items ordered so of course it never came!!! The sides requested were a surprise delivery...some were what we asked...some not. The food: some items came cold (when they were supposed to be hot), plates came at different times, some of the food was over cooked and some other items bland. Today I took a risk and ordered via Postmates...an even worse mistake!!!! They called me that one of the items was not available...they couldn't make my kids fish nuggets...so I asked if they had fish...they did...but couldn't make them...after much proving I got nowhere. Girl was so evasive. I asked for my options/alternative replacement...I was offered salchipapas...fries and hot dog sausage...that was it, nothing else. I asked for a refund...they said they would...no refund was made!!!!! My ceviche was still waaaaaay raw and seemed to have just been put into the sauce/juice...so unappealing!!! I was hungry so I gave it a shot....oh my god...might as well have been eating unsalted potatoes...no flavor whatsoever!!!! The chicken soup I ordered had maybe less than a drumstick worth of chicken in there...it was all broth, a handful of minuscule vegetables and lots, and I mean lots of herbs...I would rename it cilantro broth as this was the only thing that you tasted versus the chicken... We are looking to replace them so we decided to give this place a try, after all it's been over 2 years. Well I'm sorry to report that they will not be replacing our former favorite restaurant. The food is mediocre, from the taste to the presentation. Our server was very professional and friendly, the young man was very attentive. 15% gratuity is a given, decided to give it a shot, this peruvian place has been here for some time. When gratuity charges are imposed, you as a customer get iffy about service, it has been imposed on you no matter what. This means that no matter what they do right or wrong, they will still get the 15%. Not the most honest way to get your tips and specially in Kendall. Went in on a weekeday during lunch, their special is $6.99, what they call in Peru: El Menu. This concept is a appetizer with an entree, either chicken soup or salad with Tallarin de Carne Saltada or Chicharrones de Pescado or Pollo a la Cauza. There are only 2 servers, so you might want to get your order asap. They asked me what would I like to drink, they did bring it until I asked for it the second time - while having my food. I had ordered the chicken soup, which was very good, clear broth, lots of flavor, but no spoon came with it! How was I supposed to eat the soup? less points for that! and on top keep thinking that you will be charged 15% gratuity. The food was ok, I don't think I would be back. Food taste though, not so cool. I had the Carapulcra. My dish was a bit cold. Also, I've had that dish multiple times before at other locations and it felt like this version lacked flavor.
