Convenient cafe located right across the street from the Engineering Center at FIU. Stopped by here for lunch and dinner during my stay in Miami. The waitresses were very sweet and gave me some great recommendations on the sandwiches to try here. They didn't disappoint here and give you a lot of food for the price. What surprised me was how good their drinks were. Had a Cuban coffee for the first time after dinner - on the sweeter side for an espresso, but quite balanced. I also got a strawberry milkshake, which is less thick than what you would expect but tasted phenomenal and had real chunks of strawberry mixed in. It is located in the corner of a strip mall, and because of its corner placement, you do not feel the overall "busyness" of the other businesses. The food overall was good, it was not "the best Cuban style food in Miami", but it got the job done in terms of satisfying my desire for a simple Cuban breakfast. My partner ordered the vaca frita, and it was fine. Nothing to write home about... and it was not his favorite vaca frita. He gave it 3 stars overall. My plantain omelette was fine, it was not as fluffy as I would have liked it, but it was fine. 3.5 stars. The Cuban toast was good, the bread was fresh and nicely toasted with just the right amount of butter. 5 stars. The café con leche was delicious! I took an extra cup to-go 5 stars. Between the service, price, free parking, and overall food quality I rated this establishment a solid 3.9 and rounded up to 4 stars. My husband and I stop by for a quick snack in the afternoon. In Sweetwater, there is a cafe in every corner. We didn't know which one to pick. There were big name brand bakeries and cafes but I wanted to try somewhere small and unique. Yelp helped us find it. We had ham qroquetas and cortadito. Qroquetas were big and warm. Stopped by for a simple dinner at this Classic Cuban spot just off the Dolphin and NW 107th Ave. Found myself having a Croqueta Preparada, which is essentially a Cuban sandwich with ham croquetas. It it the spot! The sandwich was cut in quarters, and I washed it down with a watermelon juice. It was just me out after a long day at work, so I didn't get to try other items, but they have a very extensive menu. They have a Ventana for quick service, along with regular table service and both indoor and outdoor seating. On a Friday at 7pm it wasn't very busy, I would imagine they have a bigger breakfast and lunch crowd. If I found myself in the area again looking for a lunch, dinner or breakfast, perhaps if I was picking up or dropping off by the airport. I'd definitely return! read more

The restaurant is visited by locals, which is always a good sign. The bread service consists of tasty, buttery slices of pan cubano. Delicious. Meals are quickly cooked and taste great. I'll get right to it with the food... not good anymore. Their food was good when they first opened but it has gotten worse with time. The food lacks flavor - it's bland. Just yesterday I ordered vaca frita de pollo con arroz blanco y frijoles negro... white rice = bland black beans = bland chicken = bland plus it wasn't even shredded in the vaca frita style, they just chopped the chicken in chunks and I found 2 cartilage pieces of chicken in the vaca frita which it is not supposed to be in there = nasty the only thing with some sort of flavor were the onions in the vaca frita. And that example that I just gave is not the first time. One more thing, if you like milanesa de pollo, don't order it to go... they will flop the chicken over on itself and when you get home you'll have the cheese all to one side - it's a mess. Sorry, one last thing, you ask for moros and they give you congri - big difference. Patrons keep going there because it's the neighborhood spot, but those patrons will be lying if they told you the food was tasty. It's your Cuban fare, but without the greasy feel. We ordered the Bistec de Pollo and chose Moros and Boniato Hervido as sides. The food came out promptly and portions were large. Prices are very reasonable and the ambiance felt more upscale to your standard Cuban cafeteria. Parking can be hard as this shopping plaza is always packed but worth looking for. It really saddens me to have to write this review about a place that I have been a customer for years. I ordered a lacón con papa for my husband and he went to pick it. What a disappointment! The Lacón was just a big piece of bone. I went back to return it and was extremely disappointed with the manager's attitude and comments. He said, "that's very strange because that was a whole piece" I told him yes a piece of bone! Antonio the manager was not apologetic nor he seem to believe me. As an appetizer, we ordered mariquitas. I'm used to the mariquitas coming with a side of like a garlic lime type of oil. But they brought us this like cilantro garlic creamy sauce. Luckily it was good, it was just very different. They also brought out this like yellow type of sauce, which I've never had before. The mariquitas we're very good. Since I am vegetarian, I ordered a cheese sandwich on Cuban bread and added on tomatoes and lettuce. It was very very good, I really liked it. I also ordered a side of arroz moro. It was so delicious, I really recommend the arroz moro! Lastly, my boyfriend ordered the pollo a la plancha witj arroz y frijoles. Definitely a major upgrade to the previous establishment! This rinconcito stands out not only for its excellent service and food but also for its recent makeover. Looks like the place got a face-lift turning it from a random cafeteria looking juice spot to a legitimate Cuban restaurant. Every single item I tried was as if I was eating at abuelas house and the presentation was nothing short of extraordinary. The menu has much variety to my surprise and ranged not only in price but also in category. You've even got fried rice and pasta to choose from. I went with pescado a lo macho. Can't tell you exactly what it was but I can tell you- it packed plenty of flavor and was delicious. I'd love to go back and try their "arroz con pollo" or "arroz imperial" which tend to be my faves and the flan de queso...I'll order it on every visit which may be a problem.
