Little pans are brought to the table but don't eat too many because it will be tempting to do so. Food is typical Latin food at generous portions and great prices. Someone suggested Latin Restaurant for a quick family bite so we came in a group of 8 people. The place is big and it was not packed at all, they were able to accommodate us quickly. We placed our order and the food was good in general but it took a long while to come out, and when it did it was not all at once so we didn't like the experience. This place has definitely changed--either bought out or under new management. I used to love their croquetas; they were sweet and salty with just the right amount of seasoning. Now they're just overwhelmingly salty and not the same. That being said, the ventanita service is amazing. This place used to make the best Frijoles Colorados ! We recently went back and it was a disaster. Our server was Yoan S and she lacks training to be a good server. We sat down and waited and finally ordered Frituras de Malanga which were good but were brought out with no lemon or hot sauce. Ordered their special for the day Cordero and it was 2 very skinny lamb shanks. On the way to the table the server dropped the sauce from the dish and mentioned that it was all over the floor but it took a male server much more observant to come few minutes later and wipe the mess. After a long adventure packed weekend, my friends and I settled down for a late lunch at the Latin restaurant. Going in today, there was plenty of seating inside. For lunch, we ordered 1 Latin Amanecer (Breakfast Steak & eggs), 1 Churassaco with added shrimp + fried egg, and 2 lechon asados (mine came with Moro rice and sweet plantains). Moving on with today's review, the food for most part was very tasty! For starters, all entrees served had a generous portions and were reasonably priced. The breakfast steak for instance was around $9+, tender, had yummy tang sauteed onions/tomatoes, eggs cooked right, and fluffy/Crunchy Buttery cuban bread! The Churassaco Steak (although requested medium rare) was like butter! Egg and shrimp of course just added more flavor lol. Lastly, the lechon asado was tender, but would've liked if it shredded apart more, and if the onions were sauteed more through. The Moro rice also was tasty, but it did taste slightly dry (meaning it mightve been sitting around a bit). Despite these things, our server was very friendly and attentive. Overall, Latin Restaurant has pretty damn good food at a reasonably valued price, and would be open to coming here again. AND BTW, they are open 24 hours!!! read more

Came here just to have breakfast and although the food wasn't bad, in fact the potatoes in my breakfast meal were delicious, the service what's not. I ordered simple Latin breakfast which comes with tostada, Cuban bread w/ butter, milk and coffee, separately so you can make it as dark or light as you like, two fried eggs, house potatoes and bacon. Although the server, older lady with black hair was quick with my water and the food she was not very hospitable or diligent on service, she brought me the coffee and bread quickly, too quickly, both were served cold. I don't mind when the coffee is warm and not too hot, however I do mind when it's cold. Any respectable Latin cafe/ restaurant will always serve you the tostada on the hot side, because they want the butter to melt and permeate the bread. Not here, not her. I understand it's only a $5 meal however, when one arrives one should be greeted, and even after I left her a gracious $2.50 tip she didn't say thanks, or even acknowledg me or it. No thanks, no see ya, nothing. It seems customers are a bother for her. I recommend going to LA Esquinita Habanera just across the street at least there, a place I have never been, I have a 50/50 chance of getting better service. Or even better yet just about two blocks away is a great little place called Rubídos Supermarket & cafeteria, There you WILL get better service, it's a 3 generations mom and pop and they have always been great. read more

Let me start by saying we have ordered from this restaurant at least 50 times. But after our latest experience they will never receive another penny from us. Take note folks, this is how restaurants fail... We made a simple carry-out order, which turned into a whole $hit storm. My wife and I ordered a vaca frita and they asked us how we would like the meat done - well done, medium, etc....Even this simple Gringo from Ohio knows that a vaca frita only comes one way...this should have been a red flag that something was amiss...but alas, we were hungry. We went in to pay and order, and after getting home, noticed that my side dishes were missing. Also, the beef soup we ordered was a chicken soup...No problem - we will just call back and have them deliver the correct order. The manager says he will have someone deliver it just as soon as they can. We only live 0.5 miles away. But it was the principle! Shouldn't be a problem considering they advertise on their front door "WE DELIVER", right? 1 hour later, and nothing. Not a phone call or a knock on door. So we call back. We explain what happened, and they just hung up on us. Called again, hung up on us. Called a third time and they took the phone off the hook... And this is when the $hit hits the fan. We drive back to the restaurant and the waitress who took our order of the phone has that deer-in-headlights look on her face before we can even open the door. Yep. You $%?!ed up. We ask to speak with the manager right away. He walks up and calmly asks us what the matter was, in Spanish. I ask if he speaks English and he responds in surprisingly good English that he doesn't speak English. Fine. The wife states our case, and eventually we have the entire restaurants attention, accusing them of mistreating us, hanging up on us, and just doing a real terrible job overall. The patrons had a good chuckle when I explained that they asked me how I'd like the vaca frita cooked. They exclaimed on Spanish to the manager, "Hey, come on man. He's not even Cuban and he knows you don't ask how do you want us to cook the vaca frita! It comes one way! Give the guy a break". Well they didn't give us a break. They pulled the side orders out of the counter - it had been sitting there the whole time. They forgot to give it to us. And they didn't bother to even try to deliver it. I explained - "I don't want a credit, I don't want you to remake it, I don't trust you. I want my money back." The manager tried to convince us to order something tomorrow and he will comp some of it, but my mind was made up. I won't do business with anyone that treats customers like this. So he promised to refund the order back on my debit card. It would take 2-3 business days. More false promises...they never refunded my money, and they've just earned a really great yelp review! Hope it was worth it buddy, and I hope this dissuades a few other people from wasting their money in this Mickey Mouse establishment. In the mood for a Cuban breakfast, I came to this spot after looking at their menu and deciding that I didn't really feel like cooking and that this spot was suffice. I noticed the FIU coupon on their website and went ahead and saved the coupon to my phone. I ordered the Amenecer Breakfast which was white rice, steak, tomatoes and onions, with two fried eggs. My boyfriend ordered a scrambled egg platter with the house potatoes on the side. The steak was a bit chewy but I wasn't going to complain either after seeing the price. My boyfriends potatoes were pretty decent. When I asked for the tab, I showed the waitress my coupon that I HAD JUST RECEIVED FROM THEIR WEBSITE and she refused to honor it. She looked at me in confusion asking if I even went to FIU. How else do you think I got the coupon? Then she had to take my phone to the manager and he declined it as well because the coupon was expired. I could care less about $5 but it's the principality. If your website is off, then own up to it. There's like 3-4 cuban restaurants just like this one within a blocks radius so I'll go and spend my money elsewhere. Very disappointed! First, the milk was cold. I had to ask them to heat it up. Then, my toast was to be served without butter. Got them with butter. Then, I got my Perico eggs with a piece of rare beef stock in it. My friend got her Cuban toast with cheese instead of butter. Incredible! And to add insult to injury, the manager came I addressed the issue as a joke. Finally, when he saw my serious face, he told me he wouldn't charge me for my meal. I always come here for with family ,and friends when we are craving Cuban food. The taste of the food is beyond greaaaat! Specially on their natural juices & shakes. I always get the batido de mamey which is amazing it's my favorite. Their breakfast is phenomenal (until 12pm they have their special for $4.99). -The restaurant is open 24 hours, they deliver as well. -Their parking isn't the best I will say that it is really restricted. Everytime I go theirs never parking I have to wait a good 5-10mins in the car to get a spot. -Thank god by the time you go inside theirs a lot of servers that attend you right away. I love love love the croqueta preparada and the Montuno Cuban sandwich here (which is huge) as well as the oxtail that is served up every Thursday and Saturday. They also have the best tostones in town. I've eaten here before and after COVID and they continue to serve up some good eats. read more
