The outside vineyard that you drive through is beautiful. There is a nice outside deck for wine tasting and two beautiful Golden Retrievers that are Host and Hostess. Once inside it's almost empty? A few knick knacks, some shelves of wine, medals on the wall, very dark, and the counter. Underwhelmed. We ordered flights and ... it wasn't great? This was another fun stop on our tour. This place is huge! It was super busy for Memorial Weekend, but we managed to grab a flight and our tags. We really enjoyed our time here and took a little walk around the property. They have a nice outside patio. We enjoyed our beers and even had some time to do a little shopping. They have some really cute merch. If you are in the area, I would most certainly make this a stop on your travels. read more

Once again this place did not disappoint. Usually when my husband and I stop here we do a tasting, but we've been here so many times we pretty much knew what we wanted. Having said that though, I couldn't decide between the Blueberry and Kinky Pink, so the gal working the counter gave me a taste of both. We decided on the Kinky Pink and got a bottle after being told that they would seal up the bottle for us if we didn't drink it all onsite. We didn't end up drinking all of it, and they did indeed tape it shut for us so we could transport it. Along with our wine we got one of their small plates. I wish I could remember the name of the dip that we got, but I can't. It was something with feta cheese and hot sauce....maybe Fiesta dip? It as a tad bit warm, but very tasty. You can get it with either naan or chips. We got the naan. While we sat sipping our wine and nibbling our snack we observed the store dog wandering around. Very nice dog and very friendly, came to our table a number of times to be pet. The dog really gave the place a homey feeling, I don't remember him from previous visits. This is a great little winery and if you are in the area you should check it out. I do feel that I need to mention that if you really like their wines (and have limited funds) you can usually get them much cheaper at your local wine store, and sometimes even gas stations. read more

My family & I went here for our first time last week while we were camping up north. The place was amazing! The staff was very knowledgeable about the wines, and very attentive to their guests. The food and wine samples were delicious. The owner even gave my kids a tour of where the wine & beer is made. We will most definitely return the next time we are in the area! read more

Did not like these wines at all. My husband said each wine I tried progressively made his heartburn worse. The ambiance was very nice and relaxing but I just didn't like the wines. I even took the recommendation of the gal waiting on us. I guess I'm just more of a Cabernet wine drinker and not the cold weather grapes. So if you like those grapes then you will have a great time here. read more

I'm a big fan of Michigan wines and I've had Mackinaw Trail wines at various distributors. But this was the first time I was able to visit this location in Petoskey. I didn't even have to hesitate for a moment before ordering the peach cider. I am in favor of all things peach and almost zero things cider but this was amazing! We went in between soccer games while at a tournament and had a meat and cheese plate too. It definitely helped us get through the afternoon before dinner! This was not my favorite stop on our brewery tour. The service was really bad. We started out with one girl that was good at explaining to us the different beers that they had on tap, but after that, we couldn't get any of the 5 people behind the bar to even acknowledge our presence. When we were done and wanted to leave, it took so long for someone to come up to us that we could have just walked out without anyone knowing we even existed. Of these people behind the bar, 2 of them were the owners. Besides the service, we didnt care for the beer either. We did not get to try any of the wine, but I wouldnt recommend coming here as a beer drinker. Good luck to this place! The only thing nice about it was the setting. read more

Underrated winery/ brewery that kind of gets lost amongst all the other more popular locations but so worth the visit! First off, they have a winery dog, Sarah, a very friendly 10 yr old golden retriever who loves to be pet. I couldn't stop cause I love puppers. Secondly, the place is clean, service is great and everything, except the hard seltzer, was delicious. Really underrated beer; the red, IPA, pumpkin really stood out. Really enjoyed those beers. And their meat and cheese board is awesome. The spicy jelly they include is so solid. You just walk up, they are socially distancing, place your order, pay and they bring everything out to you. It was a great Fall day so we sat outside the building and enjoyed our drinks/ food while interacting with the workers, sampled some raw grapes they offered us and even met some other random people visiting the winery. Everyone was very friendly and in great spirits so it really added to the visit. Will be back for sure as it's not on my list of worthy beer locations here in Michigan. read more

If you are planning a trip to Petosky make sure you make time to stop at this winery. My husband and I received such a warm welcome from the entire staff and owners. We did a flight from the left side of the menu and a flight from the unrestricted selection. It was fun to compare. I preferred the unrestricted wine. If you like dry reds this is your place. I work at a winery on the Southwest Wine Trail and this is some of the best wine I have tasted in Michigan. They also make hard cider and beer so there's something for everyone. They can accommodate large groups, but call ahead so they have appropriate number of staff on. Hey and don't forget to tip your server. It's the right thing to do. Cheers. read more

So disappointed in the service .... the staff seemed very content with picking and choosing who they waited on, and were perfectly happy not making eye contact with the groups like us that they ignored. There was a guy in red Buffalo plaid that seemed to be in charge, and he certainly wasn't any better. With so many other wineries on the trail, do yourself a favor and skip this one. Not sure how this place has such great reviews. It sucks. I tried 3 beers and hated all 3 of them. The food was not great (and the menu is tiny! The online menu is inaccurate). Also, the staff was not very friendly. After I took a few sips of one of the beers, I went up to ask for something different. The girl behind the bar kind of stared at me and the beer & reluctantly said "ok....what do you want then?" I gave her the name of another beer and when she came back she was like "do you know that beer you didn't like was EIGHT DOLLARS?? Why did they give you such a big one then? You better try this one to make sure. Don't want to waste more beer" ........ ?? It was odd. 2 Stars for the cuddly golden retriever that roams the grounds! read more

Wine was wonderful however had a horrible customer service experience. They were unfortunately understaffed and paid no attention to us during our tasting. When delivering the wine, the owner spilled red wine on one of our white shorts, and did not offer any amount of genuine apologies. A very nice pair of shorts completely ruined. Would have been nice to have been offered some level of compensation or stain remover, however we were just met with a dry rag. Followed shortly by the owner smoking a cigarette on the patio. I am biased because the people are very cool, and the crowd is always fun. But aside from that the space is awesome, scenic, and inviting. They have many really good beer and release new stuff periodically- they have neat dinner parties and events with special pairings and tastings and they have unbelievable wines, certainly make a stop and try some things if you are close enough- if not- make a trip! read more

On a Saturday drive with our well used Brewvine pass and came back here for some beer tasting. It was a slow day and we were treated like family in this big beautiful tasting room. Generous tastings with a free side of garlic toasts and we were very happy. The pumpkin IPA was unexpected in spring, but one of the best pumpkin beers I've had. I highly recommend the Brewvine pass. You can buy it at the Grand Traverse Resort. It's an amazing value for wine and beer lovers. read more

We stopped by the Mackinaw Trail Winery yesterday on our way to Mackinaw Islnd. The winery is cute with very good wines and beer. I did a tasting for $15 that was well worth the money. The Cuvée 7 was delicious. My husband did a beer tasting $10 and he couldn't believe he couldn't get the beers anywhere but the winery. He loved all of the ones he tasted. Highly recommend going to see them and ask for Kelly for your tasting guide. She was warm, friendly and very knowledgeable about the wines and area. We will definitely be back! read more

I guess I'll be the trendsetter and write them a review under their new location. Came in here on Monday a little after 5. We didn't realize that they closed at 6. One of the owners was working. Apparently he is part owner of Mackinaw Trail with his parents. He was a super nice guy, super informative, and took time to talk with us at length about the winery/brewery. He even stayed past closing for us. I ended up charging our wine on my credit card and there was no space to leave a tip on the credit card. I'm generally really good about tipping and if anyone deserved a tip on our three day trip, it was this guy. So...I was the DB customer that kept the guy after hours and did not tip. I almost made the 15 mile drive back from our cottage to tip the next day because I felt so bad, but we got a later start than normal. Anyway...enough about my shortcomings as a human being. I'll be back to tip the next time. If you're reading this, sorry man! The wine was great. The beer was great. Some of the wineries on Mission and Leelanau can get a little snooty. Not the case here. Felt welcomed the minute we walked in and truly appreciated the customer service experience we received. Will definitely be back to support this place. read more

Amazing service and really really good hot bread and oil. I loved the garlic oil it had a ton of flavor. The wine section was great as well. I enjoyed the reds they were serving and took home a bottle. They have fair prices on wine some are overpriced for the flavor some are not just have to try them all. Beware...after a wonderful time in northern MI decided to stop here on our way back to the Detroit metro area. Had some beer and wine flights while there and the service was great and we loved the products so much we decided to purchase some beer, hard cider and a bottle of wine (for a gift). We put them in our cooler and to our horror the beer was not sealed correctly and exploded in our cooler. After COUNTLESS attempts to contact the owners, just wanting a simple refund, we were given the run-around, and calls were never returned. So I now resort to slamming this place and just wanting to warn others about our experience. So sad, all it would take is some follow-up and standing behind their products, but instead we get ignored and they get a terrible review on yelp. Stay away! read more
