I cracked/shattered the screen of my brand new Iphone and needed it replaced. This business was one of the first to respond to my inquiries. Although his quote was the highest (by $30-40), the shop was within walking distance to my apartment. Once there, I asked for a cash discount and was given a $10 discount. My screen was replaced within 2 hours but there was an error message "unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine Apple display." Mr. ZanDani said there was nothing that could be done. He told me to let him know if I had any other issues and he'd fix it. Within a day, I had issues of the screen freezing and blitzing out. I went back for it to be looked at. I waited in the store while the problem was fixed. 2 days later my phone was worse. The touch screen didn't work at times and the freezing happened more frequently since the first "repair". For the third time, I returned for the screen repair. It was fixed in a little over an hour. Its been a few weeks now and thankfully my phone is working properly with no error message or freezing. It's unfortunate that it wasn't repaired during the first visit. My schedule only allowed for me to go to the shop on Saturday so I had to wait a week between each visit. Super annoying. Although the proprietor is friendly, This repair cost more money and I wasted days and time by it not being fixed correctly the first go round. read more

Wonderful experience. MacPC NYC reset the computer to Catalina in a matter of hours, cost was $120 (very reasonable! my previous computer tech wanted $250). Waited 3 weeks to write this, to make sure OS was stable - will absolutely return if anything else goes awry. I bricked my 2013 iMac attempting to hack an upgrade to Sonoma with OpenCore. Ventura Open Core hack worked for 6 months, not sure why the Sonoma upgrade failed - but it failed dramatically! I'm fairly knowledgeable and had numerous backups, but wasn't able to reboot despite a dozen attempts because the Ventura hack interfered (Apple internet recovery was confused by the newer OS and would not install a previous one). Now content with older Catalina / using the iMac as an archive for my M2. read more

My iMac suddenly stopped working last weekend. I left to make breakfast and came back to a black screen. I tried all of the advice from the forums to get it back up and running, but at the end of the day we're talking about a 4 year old machine. Since there were signs of life (has power, but no turn-on sound or OS display) I decided to see about getting it repaired. Abdo (let's call him the technician since that's what he calls himself) responded to my inquiry the same day and I had an appointment the next morning. He walked me through the entire process, including options and pros & cons for each option. In the end, the technician was unable to recover my data (luckily I was diligent about backing up all of the important stuff and I'm able to track down what I need, so all is not lost), but he installed a new hard drive and delivered my desktop back to me yesterday evening. That's about a one day (or 36 hour) turnaround from drop off to return. He was also great about me calling with a million questions about the computer (I usually just buy a new machine and keep it moving, so this was a new experience for me). I now have to busy myself with restoring all of my apps and I've lost a ton of data because iCloud is unreliable. My MacBook hard drive failed and I couldn't access my Time Machine backup (which was a year and a half old anyway). In addition, I have coronavirus and can't leave my house! Fortunately I called MACPC NYC and got some of the best customer service I've ever had. Abdo was AMAZING. He drove to my house in Crown Heights on a Saturday evening to pick up my laptop, and emailed me a detailed quote for the proposed work, specifying that he wouldn't charge for data recovery unless the attempt was successful. He put a new hard drive in the laptop the very next day. He found a way to retrieve all the data on my damaged hard drive, came back to my house to pick up my backup drive, restored the old Time Machine backup so I had all my applications, and then copied over the data from my failed drive so everything was completely up to date. He even updated the operating system and cleaned out my fan! Then he brought the laptop and backup drive back to my house. And it took THREE DAYS. THAT'S IT. Two of which were a WEEKEND. Every step of the way Abdo was in close communication with me. His prices are very reasonable and his customer service is outstanding. It was suggested to me by Apple to bring my computer here. Abdo was beyond helpful. I've always been skeptical of taking my Apple products to any other place besides Apple. However, it was at Apple's recommendation that I take it here. He took it apart and was incredibly honest with me about the damage and although it ended up being unfixable, his friendly and honest demeanor is something that I personally respect. There are people out there that will offer to try to dry it and charge you $100 and then try something else, and it costs you more and nothing fixes it. They want the money. Abdo did not make me feel as though I was being cheated out of money, because he was so thorough and honest about the damage. My high end Dell laptop with all memory solid state disk died. no recent backup. I wanted the data recovered and this 2.5 year old laptop, now out of warranty fixed. I dropped off my external hard drive, and he kept me updated throughout the day in case something did show up. Unfortunately there was no success with retrieving any data from my hard drive, but Mr. Abdo was kind enough not to charge me. My laptop shut down and wouldn't turn back on and considering I didn't do my weekly backup, I panicked. From a combination of a Reddit suggestion and Yelp, I was directed to this shop which is only 3 blocks away from my home. Great! I messaged Abdo (I believe that's his name, please correct me if I'm wrong) about my issue and he told me to come that same day. I left my computer with him and just a few hours later, he called me back to tell me he was done and my computer was working fine. He also told me that fixing my computer in the future would cost more than it's worth, so he only charged me his $50 diagnostic fee even thought he cleaned it inside out as well. I appreciated this because it means this guy isn't out to gouge people who might not know a lot about tech and isn't going to upsell services or new systems to them for no reason for. I do plan on buying a new laptop soon and I will absolutely bring it to him for any upgrades I want and am not comfortable doing myself. Some of the rest of us don't know where to go...until now. Soon after Tekserve stopped making repairs, I made a false move one day. I mistakenly slipped an SD card into the CD slot on an older iMac desktop and it disappeared into the insides of the computer. I had some numbers a Tekserve employee had suggested. They didn't seem right. The one who was a maybe said I would be without that machine for two weeks. I did a search, found MacPC NYC, and called the technician. Dr. Zandini understood immediately what would be involved in order to retrieve the SD card and gave me a reasonable estimate.
