Quick, easy experience getting a cracked iPad screen repaired. Reached out for price quotes via a Yelp project. Mr. Fix provided a fair and reasonable price and quick and clear communication throughout Yelp messaging (no direct emailing hitch always annoys me). Whole experience was smooth--dropped off iPad, they took phone number and provided updates via text. Repairs were done on time (within a day)-think it could have been same day if early, but I didn't drop off until end of day) and, more importantly, done well. They also feature a $10 Yelp check-in discount. Avoid this repair shop at all costs. They offered $5 off for a good review -- that should tell you something. Let me share my experience. On the morning of April 26, my Alienware R7 desktop completely failed to power on -- totally dead. With zero experience in PC hardware, I brought it to this shop. By April 27, they told me my graphics card was broken and replaced my original GTX 1080 with their RTX 3060. The machine booted, and they charged me $280 plus tax -- $304.86 total. Red flag: The receipt listed the replacement as an RTX 3060 Ti, but they only installed a regular RTX 3060. This wasn't just sloppy documentation -- it raises the suspicion that they deliberately tried to pass off a lower-tier GPU as a higher-end one and charge accordingly. Soon after, I realized the RTX 3060's performance was worse than my old GTX 1080, so I bought an RTX 3070 online and asked the shop to install it and refund me for the 3060. They agreed to a refund of only $200 (for the card) but kept $80 as an installation fee -- already a steep charge. Then came the disaster. After taking my computer home, it worked for just under 48 hours, completely dead again. So, I brought it back on May 3. On May 5, they told me the real problem was the power supply and spent three more days diagnosing it. At that point, I already suspected they had misdiagnosed the first time -- I texted to ask if maybe the power supply, not the GPU, was the root issue. They confidently assured me that if the power supply had been bad, the computer wouldn't have booted at all the first time, and they hadn't made any mistake. It was only later, after doing research as a NYU Tandon student, that I realized what likely happened all along: the power supply had probably been failing from the start and couldn't handle the high-power draw of the GTX 1080. When they installed the lower-power RTX 3060, it reduced the system's power load just enough to keep it limping along for two days -- but the underlying issue (the failing power supply) wasn't fixed, and soon it failed entirely. If they had properly diagnosed the power supply issue in the first place, this whole chain of problems could have been avoided. By May 6, my new RTX 3070 arrived with a new power supply, which I took to them. They told me the machine would be ready by May 7 -- but when I checked that evening, they pushed it to May 8. When I asked why it was taking so long, they gave vague excuses like "it's normal." The final blow: on May 8 at 3 PM, they claimed the new power supply worked, but the RTX 3070 couldn't run because of "motherboard incompatibility" -- even though the RTX 3060 worked fine. That's absurd; all my research showed both cards are fully compatible. As a result, from April 26 to May 8, they failed to fix my computer properly. The frustration and sense of being cheated were overwhelming. Even now, they've charged me $304.86, only refunded $163, and refuse to admit any fault. At this point, I gave up on them completely and took everything to Best Buy's Geek Squad, where they immediately noticed that the metal connector on my new RTX 3070 was bent -- very likely due to rough handling by this shop. On May 10, Best Buy completed the repair and professionally installed the RTX 3070. Most importantly, their repair report clearly stated that my original GTX 1080 -- the one this shop had diagnosed as defective -- had no issues whatsoever. This proves beyond doubt that they made a false diagnosis just to push their own graphics card sale. This is not just negligence -- it increasingly looks intentional. Their own website claims their technicians are professionally trained, but even someone with basic technical common sense would know that if a PC doesn't power on at all -- no lights, no fans -- the first thing to check is the power supply or motherboard, not the graphics card. Yet they immediately claimed it was the GPU and pushed me to buy theirs. That level of incompetence is hard to believe in from a so-called professional shop. It points to deliberate fraud. Let's not forget -- first, they said my GTX 1080 was bad. Then, when I brought my own RTX 3070, they claimed it couldn't be installed due to "motherboard incompatibility." Yet somehow, only the graphics card they wanted to sell me magically worked. The pattern is clear: they wanted to force their own hardware onto customers. That's not a coincidence -- that's a scam. I spent enormous amounts of time, money, and effort dealing with this situation. In the end, I was tricked into replacing a perfectly working GPU. My original GTX 1080 -- wrongly declared "broken" -- is now worthless to me. That's a direct financial loss caused by their fraudulent actions. They misdiagnosed the problem, pushed unnecessary sales, gave me a lower-tier GPU while charging for a better one, damaged my new GPU, made false claims, and delayed service. Their behavior is deceptive, unethical, and possibly criminal. Report them if you got scammed like me! read more

Mr. Fix fixed my laptop fan quickly and with the most amazing customer service! I had been putting off getting the fan fixed, as I need my laptop for work and was concerned that getting it fixed might take a long time. I stopped by on a Tuesday evening and Alex looked at it in person to confirm the issue. He then ordered the correct part, which arrived by Wednesday evening, and sent a phone alert that the part had arrived. I was able to stop by again with the laptop and get the fan fixed within an hour, just over 24 hours since I first stopped by! The price was also very fair, and my laptop has been running great since then. I will come back to Mr. Fix for any future laptop/phone issues. The quote that I received indicated that this issue would be resolved in 2-4 days.As of today,April 10th,the issue has not been resolved. Fixed my Gen 1 ipad for a great price. Service was quick and the guy was super nice! Used an original apple applied part which fit nicely even given the fact that the ipad became bent when i broke it. They charge top dollar ($200 to repair a screen) and do not use apple parts, voiding my warranty! The repair didn't even work, twice, resulting in my having a non working phone I had to take back for them to fix. Then they erased my phone! They finally replaced the screen with an apple one but not without whining that it "was expensive". Really? After all you put me through?? So infuriating. I got a battery put into my iphone 6S plus from this shop and it turns out the repairman put my phone back together wrong so the camera and the speaker no longer worked. Took me $169.00 repair from the genius bar at the mac store to get it repaired. i don't mean to belittle the guy at "Mr'Fix' (HA!) but he doesn't really know what he is doing. don't bring your phone here, it will end up costing you more elsewhere.
