Me and my mom recently visited Tucson for a concert and needed some things to do on a free day. I saw the brochure for Mac's at the airport and we had a great experience! Lacy and Liza helped us out. Lacey is very knowledgeable about the jewelry from specific tribes, but both ladies were very helpful in general. We had a nice, long chat about the technique behind the creation of the jewelry and the history of Indigenous Peoples. If I'm ever in Tucson again I will be visiting! I'm so glad I stopped in after my lunch date! The store is unassuming from the street, but they have a beautiful selection of jewelry. BUYER BE CAUTIOUS.. I am really disappointed. Macs has changed hands and is now being run by the second generation. I have been shopping at, taking visitors to shop at, and referring tourists to shop at Macs since 2002. I was proud of a local business who stood behind their merchandise, knew the history of the craftsmanship and was willing to make things right if there was a problem. Yesterday a friend, who received an inlaid bracelet as a going away gift, was back in town. The stones had fallen out of her bracelet. I told her we would take it to Macs, as they stood by their work. With no receipt, even though they recognized the bracelet and agreed it was their merchandise, they refused to help in any way. This would not have happened when the original owners were still operating the store. No more recommendatons from me and I'll find another source for my pesonal silver and turquoise purchases. read more

When anything needed repair (which is very rare) they have never said anything "but we will call when it is ready". We have had jewelry made at Mac's and it has always been perfect. Went into Mac's 15 minutes before they closed today thinking I might get little more than perusing done. I ended up staying well after closing, as the staff was beyond helpful, and locked in on a necklace/earring combo for my girlfriend. Great that they source many of their wares from desert SW artisans, many of whom are from New Mexico. Nice build quality on the metalwork, with good attention to detail. Their selection of stones is quite expansive with different color minerals/gems to suit most every shade of the palette, and the pieces available range from forget-me-nots to quite elaborate. As I came in with specific attributes I was looking for, I was super pleased when one of the helpful ladies fished out a unique turquoise piece that had a whole lot of character despite being a moderately sized stone. I found the employees very inviting and their sales approach did not feel stuffy or forced at all, as can be the case at some higher end jewelers. All in all, a great place to pick up Southwestern jewelry. 4 stars only because I wish they had more piece to show, but they would need a bigger building for that! read more

I come to Tucson once a year for training and always make it a point to stop by this little store. Lots of beautiful Indian jewelry so I usually buy something for myself and a few of my friends. More importantly, the owner stands behind his product. I bought a bracelet last year and shortly after I got home, a stone fell out. Sent it back and they had it repaired. Took it out a few nights ago to pack for my annual trip here again and the same stone was missing again. I must have lost it last time I wore it. The owner again offered to have it repaired even though it's past the usual one year warranty by about a week. Now that's customer service! Hard to find these days. read more

horrible experience. I had a minor repair on a piece of jewelery. they were vague about how long it would take. A week or two. The clerk raved about the jeweler. "Oh he has 40 years of experience" The schlocky work he did was amateurish at best. And he ruined the piece by over polishing it and altering the design. It will never be the same again. I am a repeat customer albeit it was 5 years ago since I had visited. I took a bracelet in for repair which I had bought at another store in Phoenix a couple of years ago. Eventhough they had not sold it to me, they provided excellent repair service at a reasonable cost! The turquoise stones 2 of which I had lost due to loose mountings were replaced and they looked perfectly matched to the remaining stones. Not only was it cleaned and polished to a brand new luster it was done quickly. While I was there I also made new purchases, a lovely squash blossom necklace and earring set and a beautiful bracelet for my daughter's birthday. Very unique items, you won't find a mass produced look here! If you are looking for something unique and original for a gift or everyday wear or a souvenir, this is the place to go! Very competitive prices and the sales staff was helpful, knowledgeable and cheerful. I even placed an order after returning home for another gift which they will mail to my Mother-in-Law for Mother's Day!
