My boyfriend and I have started ring shopping and after reading reviews, we decided to give McGuires a shot. As soon as we walked in we could feel the family vibe. The salesperson we spoke with throughout the visit was incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable and not once did I feel talked down to or mansplained to-- which has happened at other jewelry stores unfortunately. I had also brought along some rings I needed resized. I could not get over how affordable it was. Another jewelry store quoted me almost $300 for two rings. McGuire's quoted me $28 a piece. I brought in a family heirloom ring to have the pear shaped garnet polished. It cracked while polishing had to wait 6 months for them to find a new stone. Just got it back and one of the side diamond are loose. Have to pay another person to fix it as we moved away. this should have been noticed as they had it for 6 months. I went there recently to get my Mavado watch battery replaced and they did it for no charge. They also removed links out of another watch I had to get it to fit better and they did it for no charge. Will have you waiting in the lobby for upwards of an hour and they will make you wait long periods of time before repairing your jewelry because they take too many jobs on and are constantly behind. I'm really disappointed in the service I recently received here. They change watch batteries for the cost of the batteries, clean jewelry for free but ... I had picked out a ring for almost $4000 that needed sizing (as it would for most fingers) and a little device on the back of the ring so it would get over my large knuckle, they were going to charge $135. They told me this and I was flabbergasted. The plan was to get the ring, maybe a necklace or other matching jewels because it's our 50th anniversary (which I explained). There was no budget. It was the principal not the extra dollars. So, I'll go somewhere else and spend my money but huge loss. I've spoken with others who had the same complaints. At what price point does making the ring fit worth just making it part of the customer service experience? read more

Brought three watches in to get the battery replaced. They had put new batteries in more than a year ago but they had run down already. They came back and said they couldn't replace the battery in one of the watches because "someone" had cross-threaded the back and if they tried to remove it, they'd destroy the watch. That "someone" who cross-threaded it was them!!!! They ruined the watch!. They took no responsibility for ruining the watch. That "free" battery was the most expensive battery I ever bought! We came to this jewelry store to find an anniversary gift. Typically when we've come in the past, service has been good. However during our last visit, we were turned off from coming to this business again. We came in during a during a weekday in the middle of the day. It was not busy in the store at all, maybe 2 other customers. The staff ignored us and did not seem interested in helping us at all. They not only replaced my battery but also serviced the entire watch at no cost. This is not the first time my wife and I have brought in a watch for a battery and have not been charged. I had some pearls that had to be fixed onto their setting. I visited a jewelry store in a shopping center and was told it would cost me $250 to fix it. The ring and earrings didn't even come close to that price. I then decided to visit McGuires Jewelry on Wetmore road. A young man by the name of Ryan greeted me and asked me how he could help me. I told him the problem, he took my jewelry, and told me he would be back shortly. He offered me water or a soda, and left to see what he could do. He returned in about 10-15 minutes with my jewelry already repaired. I asked him how much I owed him, and he said, "Nothing". I about fainted. He told me he wouldn't charge me anything, ..."because it was just a bit of epoxy," he used. Talk about real kindness and honesty! I cannot recommend McGuires highly enough, and Ryan is a keeper! I brought my solitaire diamond in for sizing. I was not shown the weight of ring that was taken upon drop off but I did take fotos of my ring before. The backing was a thick 14 k gold ring. When I picked the ring up the backing was so thin I was shocked and very upset. They claim the gold turned to dust. I believe otherwise. Side by side fotos of before and after are proof enough that something underhanded happened. When I showed the fotos before she said you should have checked tge weight when you dropped it off and leave or she will call the cops. read more

This company did a great job replicating my lost earring and made me an entirely new pair identical to the original pair and added a chain to made a pendant of the one remaining earring of the original pair. They were efficient and did a beautiful job and charged me a very fair price. read more

The first time we went to McGuires my husband needed a watch battery- it was free! They were very busy but took our request serious and treated us great. This time, I had my Hawaiian wedding band that needed the black filled back in, and a crack at the place of sizing fixed. They did a wonderful job- quick and I was shocked at how reasonable they are. The lady at McGuire checked my ring sizes and they were a bit smaller than size 4!! they were supposed to be size 5.. No wonder they were too tight! I was trying to lose weight so I could wear my rings again lol well, I'm glad I decided to just take them to McGuire's. They fixed the ring sizes and now they fit perfectly. Nice, family owned business. We've been he They offer free services like re-sizing watches, which brought us in the first time. They had it done immediately. The second time the clasp for my fiancee's fancy watch broke, and they took it in for a few days and probably saved us hundreds of dollars. I was so surprised they didn't charge us anything, especially since it took some time I'm sure to work on, but they just want you to think of them the next time you're looking for jewelry! The third time my fiancee brought me a beautiful pair of amethyst earrings. They have a nice selection of all jewels. The fourth time was a litttttle bit of a bummer since we were so happy about the first few visits. We came in and ordered a my fiancee's wedding ring instead of a major jeweler since we wanted to support local business (of note, they had pretty similar selection to what we found at Jared's). My fiancee was then called back to be re-sized since he ended up being in between sizes the company offered. The lady who helped him had no idea why he was called in and was very rude. He was told it would be ready in 1-2 weeks. At 2 weeks, I called in to check, and there was no record the order was actually placed but said rude lady. This was a bit stressful since our wedding was approaching. Luckily the person helping me this time was apologetic, got the ring in quickly, and kept me updated. Affordable, friendly, & quick! I looked around for the best place to get my grandma's ring resized. It's precious to me and really worth more than anything... so I shopped around. Jessica @ McGuire's was amazing! -It cost me less than $40 when other places quoted $150 or more -they had it ready in 4 days when they said it would be a week (which still would have been quick) AND -they remembered me I had someone else pick up my ring while I was in an appointment and Jessica had me call them to verify just to make sure I got it because she remembered how important it was to me I definitely will use them again! read more

Bought a Le Vian colored diamond pendant from them several years ago and was told will receive the certificate of authenticity but never did. This after I called to remind them. So much for following through. Also, I bought a gold necklace from them that I wanted shorten and they charged to shorten it but did not give me back the gold link they removed. Rather dishonest. Been in there several times and each time it was difficult to get service from anyone because they are always busy and understaffed. Definitely will not go back again. read more
