I've become a pretty regular customer here and I realized I should re-hype this place. It's a great store for pet food and toys with a family feel. They're always having little events and promotions and lots of customers bring their dogs. They have a good selection of both dog and cat items. My thing recently has been the pouches of cat food for extra hydration. My cats like the Weruva brand of those so I like to get them here. For some reason I always have better luck buying some cat food from the store rather than ordering by the case online, though of course I do that too. I've also picked up quite a few mousie and catnip and silver vine toys for my cats--silver vine has been kind of a revelation btw. I've even gotten a few dog treats up at the front register for friends' dogs. The single dental treats are hard to resist and the dogs like them. The people are always friendly and happy to offer recommendations. I have multiple sources for my pet needs, but I'm always happy to give Mac's my business. Can't say it enough. read more

I usually go to Bark n Scratch outpost, Skilos or The Vault , i've never been to Macs but I was in the area with my dog so I came on in, immediately less than 2 mins walking in a worker approached us and started talking to my dog, my dog is extremely well trained but is scared of people, she does perfectly but just would rather not be approached so i said what i always say when we go out "she's scared of people, we're training" with a smile because i'm usually (at pet stores) met with a "oh ok! let me know if you need anything" or questions about my dog from a distance which is perfect! but that wasn't the case here. for the first time i got the response, with a blunt attitude, "then why is she here? why would you bring her somewhere where there would be people? that makes no sense" i was astounded at the response but firmly replied "she's training" and the worker replied "yeah that makes no sense but whatever" and walked away??? never in my 4 years of owning my dog have i been spoken to so rudely about my dog, especially at a PET store?? where i expect the people working there to understand not every dog loves people/other dogs?? a place where they literally sell muzzles, cbd, anti anxiety stuff for dogs because they're meant to understand dogs sometimes have these issues? i immediately left as i was left stunned, feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable and no longer wanted to spend my money there. my dog is more well behaved than 99% of dogs we see in public because i worked hard to make her that way. and i will be absolutely telling all of my fellow dog training friends of this experience. read more

My wife and I stopped in for a quick look around while we were getting to know the neighborhood a bit and ended up walking out with a heavy bag full of goodies. We were instantly greeted by the kind folks here and they made sure to welcome us to Bayview right away. The shop has everything you could need for your pet, and the staff here are knowledgeable and extremely friendly/helpful. We told them we were just getting a few things in anticipation for our pup that we'll be officially adopting in July, and picked up a treat and a clip-on dog waste bag carrier. As we were checking out, they asked us our dog's name and had a tag made for him on the spot. On top of that, we got a free bag of puppy food as a part of their current customer appreciation event. I've never been more instantly sold on a store before. We don't get our dog for another 2 weeks and I already can't wait to bring him here! This was the first of what I'm sure will be MANY visits, and I am beyond happy a spot like this will be so close to our new apartment. read more

The customer service here is what makes this store stand out. It's a bit of a drive from my house but it is worth it. If you are lucky Mac the black lab will be there when you visit. They are really knowledgeable and can provide detailed information on the products that they carry and suggestions on pets and pet products in general. They are pretty much Siri, Alexa and Google for things pet related. They know all the stuff and all of the things. They have punch cards for cans of dog food. I love businesses with punch cards! It's old school now isn't it? Is it so old it's like a 90's early 2000's thing? I still love punch cards for all their old school, pre-electronic utility. They even let you combine punch cards if you're anything like me and you have twenty three and a half punch cards in your various wallets and clutches. Best customer service ever. Ever. Since COVID - Mac's is the ONLY place I will shop for the high quality food, treats, and toys that my pup loves! They are doing an AWESOME job with COVID safety and enforcement, while maintaining the friendly and welcoming atmosphere from days gone by. They have everything you could need for your pets - from beds to litter to food to snacks to toys. Probably my only vacations this year will be to drive myself to visit my daughter in Bayview, Milwaukee due to COVID-19. We are both greatly limiting our shopping in person, but it was my dog's birthday, and I had heard that Mac's Pet Depot Barkery was doing an excellent job with Covid safety. This was accurate, I'm very happy to report. When you enter the store, the owner's pleasant greeting was accompanied by a request to use the hand sanitizer station just inside the door, which we gladly did. It was the day that Hamilton was being released on Disney+, and the other employee was singing the songs. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Best of all, I found two amazing toys for my dog at surprisingly low prices. Even the store dog, Mala, with her adorable one ear up and one down, was smiling and happy to inspect and approve my choices. I had forgotten to bring dog treats from home, and my dog loves the chicken medallion treats sold individually at the register, so I could buy just enough to carry her through the 3 day weekend. Masks required. We had them on, because we have sense. I didn't see if they had any to provide. Go and treat your furry friend at this well run business. Pure pleasure. read more

My husband & I came here because we live in the Bay View area and we noticed that it was open. We walked in and we were greeted warmly by staff. They had a lot of variety of food & toys for both dogs and cats. We were able to find what we needed for our cats. Yes you may pay a couple dollars extra for things but it supports a small business so I am okay with it. read more

Great community store that is extremely well kept, has great staff, and a great selection. This store features their namesake's owner that greets you as you walk in. Mac is a nice black lab with a bed right up by the front door that is super sweet. The staff is always extremely helpful with any questions and suggesting product - they always make sure your dog is taken care of if you bring them in. My dog now LOVES walking passed here so she can get some treats and say hi to her human friends. They get involved with the community with various events both at their location and at other local businesses such as Chill on the Hill and the Iron Horse for their Yappy Hours. The daily calendar has various promotions that you can take advantage of. Definitely a great business to have in the community. read more

The pup and I decided to check out one of the newest additions to KK, and we can now say we are both huge fans of Mac's. First off, Mac is the namesake of the pet store, and he is the most beautiful, sweet, patient black lab who will greet you as soon as you walk in the door. He alone is worth a visit! Mac's has a great selection of dog and cat items, including some fabulous bakery treats that any animal is sure to enjoy. The staff was incredibly warm and inviting, on top of being knowledgeable about the products they sell. Andddddd they laughed it if off when my punk dog stole a treat so that makes them good people in my book. Not only did we go home with someone awesome treats, but they gave us a bunch of different samples for both our dog and cats to try. We love Mac's! As cat parents to 2 furry felines, my boyfriend and I were very pleased to see Mac's come to Bay View. It has turned into our regular pet supply store. Fromm cat food, a Wisconsin made product, was the best find we have had at Mac's. It has kept our older cat happy and was the perfect choice for our new baby kitten too. This food doesn't contain artificial fillers and keeps our animals lean and healthy. The staff at Mac's, including the namesake Labrador, are very friendly and helpful. We always leave with new samples or coupons for a return visit. While the prices at Mac's are a little higher than big name stores, helping a local small business succeed makes them worth while. read more

We walked our dog there, she greeted us when we came in, our dog got a drink and a cookie...we bought some delicious dog treats in birthday cake flavor that our dog LOVES (allergen free, too!) This is the best pet store you can come across. The owner keeps in all of the best brands to keep you and your fur friend happy. If she doesn't have it, she's always helpful in finding an alternative or ordering in what you're looking for. I decided to give my dog a nice break on a human friend's yearly birthday road trip. Googled pet stores and chose this over the chain that I use sometimes at home. Got gipped at the register. I called the next day and all I get from Daniela, the same cashier, was 'it says on the signs it's for reward card members, all the signs, all over the store.... (= not my fault, not my job, call back tomorrow, talk to somebody else). 'You could have given me a card at the register for the sale that I just asked you about.' 'Oh, that's right.' Not a single 'sorry.' Not a single 'you're right.' I did not yell, I did not call her name's. I was disappointed at this point, not pissed off. (Not until day 3 of this drama). The fact of the matter is that I asked right at the register about the sale for the sole purpose of making sure got it. I even let someone go ahead of me so I wouldn't be asking a question with a line behind me. And that's what I got for the consideration I showed. I was already there for an hour, what's another couple minutes to fill out whatever form I needed for this reward car? The verbal answer was, 'everything in the store.' The same answer; at least 3 times, from different people; I was given on my whole hour in the store. So is the reward card detail not available verbally? Day 3 faired better. I'll get my refund in the mail, which was not without hassle or snark,at which point I did get pissed off and did get loud, and got called rude. (Never a simple apology). Believe me, it's better on this business than my driving back this or next year, or complaining of false advertising to the Better Business Bureau. When I am perfectly clear verbally that I'm from out of town and it's my first visit, one sentence from asking about the sale, the repeated verbal answer, 'everything in the store,' should result in getting the sale price. "You got a really good food," is not equivalent to a discount. Going to PetCo next time. read more

It's definitely worth while to stop here at this unique shop! Fun & unique items for pets, especially dogs and cats. It's wheelchair accessible too despite the store's size. The shop offers a pet name tag instant print service, clearance items, high quality dog chews, Howie's treats, and even dog popcorn that comes in a mini microwaveable popcorn bag! We had driven to Bayview in search of another dog bakery, which ended up being closed! We were so disappointed and began driving home. We were surprised when we saw the sign for Mac's. We went in looking for a birthday cake for our dog, Lucy. We were happy to see their baked goods for dogs and they had a lot of other interesting and unique products for sale. We picked up a cookie that said, "Happy Birthday" and some natural/chemical free flea and tick spray. We enjoyed our experience talking with the women who were working there. Not only did we meet our pup there at an adoption event, but it's our go to walk destination when we want to tire her out and reward the work! She loves the teething toys especially the chill bone.
