It's 1:35pm, lunch time,the waitress says she's by herself, she seems stressed. She's trying to portray a fake smile. She hasn't cleaned the other tables. She's angry that we want to sit by the window since she has to clean it. And my crew felt rushed as she seemed so overwhelmed... he ordered the 1st thing he was pressured into, she didn't offer a taste when she noticed his indecision. Held a meeting at Mac's Pizza Pub in Mainstrasse. This was our first visit and the food was excellent. Our server was extremely accommodating. One of our party told her she doesn't eat fried foods when she was asked if she wanted fries, tater tots or onion rings with her burger. Our waitress suggested a side salad, which worked out great. Drink prices were reasonable. The only drawback was that our location was a bit noisy for a meeting. I will go back. read more

A group of us really wanted to like Mac's. It's a cute, little gem in the village. Menu is good and the beers on tap were good selections. We ordered Bloody Mary's with side cars. Typical Mr T's with vodka. Don't get me wrong, Mr. T's is a good start but you must add love to it. Our waitress put a lime and an orange in the first one, the following three, nothing!! An orange!?!? Where's my olive, pickle, or celery?? I got an old orange. (no side cars with the last 2) Now let's get back to the waitress. No drink napkins, no smiles, no willingness to hustle. It took over 10 minutes to get a PBR and a water refill. Bloody Mary's sat on the bar for a long time. Btw, the bartender wasn't that fast and quick either. Our chili came out cold and ding ding heated it up in a microwave. Oh my. So I started to wonder why she was hanging out in the back? She would be in the back and not paying attention to her tables in the front. I went to the bathroom and noticed all the workers hanging out in the back. Seriously?? The owner or owners need to either fire the staff and start fresh. Blondie with her pompom hat needs to find a different waitressing job. Maybe at Frischs?! read more

Well,I have wanted to go to Mac's for a while, but apparently they did not feel the same about me. I decided to use pizza week as an inexpensive introduction and b/c I would be in the Covington area. I called 12x within 20 minutes and it was busy - every. single. time. How can a pizza place have a line that is busy for that long??? So I called the Clifton location to see if they could tell me if the Covington store had phone issues. The man said 'only the owner has a better way to reach the other locations but the Covington location is 3x busier at all times than we are and this was the busiest Friday I had ever seen' (likely due to the pizza week promotion). He said 'they must be slammed' and suggested just going there. So I did - they were only a third full and I could see several employees in the back, none of whom were exactly hustling. In other words, they were not busy at all. And if you're typically 3x busier than the Clifton location and you're suddenly NOT busy on a Friday night, wouldn't you think something is wrong? Maybe it was a legitimate phone issue, but I started to suspect that they had disconnected their phone to avoid taking pizza week orders. But I still decided to try, so I stood at the bar, which only had 4 others there, 2 of whom had already been helped, and looked at the cat-eyed bartender to try to get her attention. She helped 2 people that were 2 to 3 feet to my side, but in 5 minutes never ONCE acknowledged me. It would be one thing if she didn't say something, but she never even looked at me. And I could tell she knew I was there, but she seemed like she was intentionally avoiding me. I don't know her, so I don't know what her problem was, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe after she took their order she would look at me, or tell me it'll just be a minute, or something. Now, I don't normally write reviews, but this place left an impression on me and since I'm sitting here at the airport with nothing to do... I figure why not. First off I was in town for business over the last week and throughout the labor day weekend. After many meals of hotel food, fast food, and this awful local Chinese restaurant my associate and I found our way to Mac's Pizza Pub Sunday night, which is not too far from our accommodations at the Courtyard. My first impression upon walking up to the joint was so-so, as it is nothing special. However, once walking in I found the building and the decor to be amazing. The entire interior had a very rustic, yet warm feeling to it. We immediately felt relaxed and comfortable. Throughout the evening we were treated with some amazingly fantastic local beers, which was a pleasant surprise as we come from the microbrewery rich Northern California and Oregon areas. We also indulged in some delicious burgers which were recommended by our waitress (more on her shortly), and we loved them along with our brews. I sort of wish we tried the pizza though as every one that passed by us looked and smelled amazing. Now onto the service... our bubbly red-headed waitress was amazing. It was refreshing to have someone so friendly and personable serving us after a long week. It also so happened to be her first night on the job, which we all found amusing as it was our first night there too! Haha.But she was great... very attentive, gave good recommendations, was nice in telling us more about the area, and was just very approachable. I hope next time we are out in the Cincinnati area for business we partake in another evening at Mac's and hopefully we can somehow get the same waitress again as she made the evening that much more enjoyable. Having been regulars at Mac's in Clifton from day one, we had to hop across the river to check out the newest member of the Mac's Pizza Pub family. My favorite thing about Mac's Clifton is that we have always been treated like family when we're there (in all the best ways, not the dysfunctional ones) and Mac's Mainstrasse is every bit as welcoming! The place is absolutely gorgeous and HUGE! The front bar is cozy and a little darker than the main dining area which is bright, open and has another full bar of it's own. The "greenhouse" style, glass roof and window box planters dividing the dining rooms, offer a feeling of being in a sunny courtyard. Quite the departure from Clifton. There's a plethora of big screen TVs in both areas but I would not call this a sport's bar or say that I felt bombarded at all. There's just so much space! Now for the similarities: Mac's always has an impressive, rotating tap and creative cocktail offerings. I had the 3 Floyds Grapefruit Sculpin and my boyfriend enjoyed a Breckenridge Vanilla Nitro Porter, both quite tasty! I'll be back to try the soon to come, in house mixed Old Smokey Moonshine creations. The Clifton location already has these dangerously delicious offering on tap. that's right, moonshine cocktails ON TAP! When our friends arrived, we ordered up a feast of all of our Mac's favorites; wings, the amazing fried pickle spears and waffle fries w/ house made beer cheese. The beer cheese was made with Braxton Brewing's Dead Blow Tropical Stout and good enough to cart the leftover bit home :) We ordered three specialty pizzas, the Mac Attack, Cheeseburger and a Garden Veggie w/ added goat cheese. Everything was delicious as expected!! There are a few added twists on the Mainstrasse menu but it's mostly the solidly well prepared menu we know and love. If your a fan of any of the three other Mac's locations, venture over and go check out what long time staffers, Mandy and Jeremy, have carved out of the old Cosmo's space in Covington, you won't be disappointed! I understand they have much more in store for the space including more dining upstairs and even more outdoor seating. We're sure to be dividing our time between locations new and old :) read more

My friend and I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday! The staff was great, the food was delicious and so was the Bloody Mary with the side car! The atmosphere is nice in there and the music is good. I would give this place zero stars if I could. The first time I ordered from here - great! Second time, my chili came in tinfoil. The third time - my order kept getting pushed out for over an hour. Tonight, I received my chicken salad with NO chicken. Their solution? Tell the uber driver to tell me that they fucked up my order when he arrived and that they would be comping the salad. Are you serious? Who does that??? You make people wait over an hour to not deliver on what was ordered? Never ordering from here again and telling everyone I know. read more

I don't even know where to start. The food is definitely 5 stars. The service was absolutely horrible. I went to Mac's last week for a girls night with my friends and while the service was a little slow, we still had a great time. Our server was personable and fun. Tonight I wanted to take my husband back for $5 burger night after raving all week about how good it was. Our server tonight didn't mention $5 burger night to us once, and offered us waters when we sat down. We ordered a margarita that came out CLEAR and with no salt. It tasted like water and tequila. My husband ordered a beer and after 10 minutes we found out they ran out of it. So he got a captain and coke and the coke was completely flat. At that point we didn't feel like waiting for another drink so we ordered food. The wings were phenomenal and juicy. We got 2 black bean burgers and they were also very good. We had to walk inside to find our server to ask for silverware and napkins and ketchup because the one we got was empty. The server brought us.....another empty ketchup! The waitress never came back to check on us and I had to go find her to ask for our check. Well....we get the check and our burgers rang up $10. I asked for it to be fixed for the $5 burger promotion, the whole reason we came out, and learned that the black bean burgers don't count for that special! Would have been nice to know! I had a really hard time leaving a tip after such a horrible experience. I bartend for a living and I know what it takes to make a good tip and this was honestly one of the worst service experiences I've ever had. I understand that things happenm, I do. But I feel like there was just zero effort put forth tonight by Mac's. We are really disappointed after having such a good time last week and will probably not come back. read more
