I've been going to Dr. Fleming for over a decade now. He's been wonderful treating my weird eyesight - one nearsighted, one farsighted - and while I am happy that he is gradually phasing himself into retirement, I'm sad to lose him as my eye care provider. While I loved teaching, I was glad to retire, so I understand. The office staff is always pleasant and professional, greeting clients as soon as they pass through the door. Office policy is "no fragrances." I get that, and always remember to leave the Chanel on the shelf. Regarding the purchase of new glasses, I avoid that, no longer having the luxury of insurance. Instead, I recycle one or two pairs of several frames I've held onto because I like them. Only once have I been told that's not possible, because "they" don't like beat-up frames. They're not; what am I, 12 years old? Even though Dr. Fleming has sold his practice, I will continue as long as he's taking a few appointments. I feel my exam is thorough, and the results always discussed with me. The practice keeps up with new technology, and I like that. He reassured me when I expressed worry about renewing my driver's license; the eye exam always brings anxiety. Should I fail the exam, Dr. Fleming told me there were options. Finally, while I was undergoing treatment for a serious illness, the office was very understanding when I schlepped in, not wanting to miss an appointment. I firmly believe that a business should be given the opportunity to do the right thing, so I prefer to address any issue in person before giving a negative review. Sadly, after 3 attempts for them to own their mistake, they have lost me as a customer over a $16 charge. I came to this office as a new customer several months ago after I had received great service from the MACT Women's Clinic. As a cash paying customer, I was quoted a price for the exam and lens fitting two times (at the beginning and before I checked out). The doctor was very nice and knowledgable, so a solid star for that. I received my services then paid my bill IN FULL before I walked out with a $0 balance (receipt in hand). A few weeks ago, I got a statement in the mail saying I had a balance of $16, so I called to ask why. The billing person explained that since the former practice was purchased, the staff has been MISQUOTING the rates for services. I told her that was an internal issue they needed to correct since I had already in good faith paid for the services I was quoted for and received. Of course, I'd be happy to pay the revised rate for future services, but not after I've already paid in full. She agreed to speak with a supervisor and when I got a call back a few hours later, she said this was patient responsibility. (Wrong answer.) I then went in person and very gently explained that this bait and switch pricing has the appearance of being unethical. I was then referred to their compliance line and after explaining the situation again, was told I'd get a call back. I never did get that call, but today, I got the invoice again printed on bright yellow paper telling me I'm 30 days overdue on this bogus balance. Unreal. I also need to add that prior to this issue, I had to follow up 5 (yes FIVE) times to see if they had even ordered my trial pair of contacts which didn't arrive for over a month. I actually went to Donaldson next door to get trials since I was desperate and getting nowhere with MACT week after week. Donaldson gave me 2 free trail pairs right on the spot. Genius. At this point, their actions indicate that they don't care to keep me as a customer, so I'll pay their piddly $16 and never darken their door again. Next time I'm due to spend nearly $500 on eye appointments and contacts, I'll be heading over to Donaldson. Byeee! read more

Sierra Vista Optometry was the first place I ever had an eye exam. Both of my parents and all of my siblings have poor vision. I was very fortunate in that department until grad school. I began to notice it was a little difficult to read things that the professors wrote on the overhead projector. Eeep! Since everyone in my family went to Sierra Vista it was time for me to join the club. The optometrist and assistants were all very friendly. My exam was quick and painless. I was able to pick out a pair of spectacles to help me read writing from a distance without squinting. Don't want premature wrinkles! read more

Good medical service. Poor time and appointment management. I have been rescheduled 2 times in a row. Appointments were for follow up care a year apart. One week before each appointment, the office called to cancel and reschedule 6 months later. Also business is not for those on a budget. read more

I was visiting the area on vacation and forgot to pack my contact lenses, I called around local optometrists to see where I could purchase some extra contact lenses for my trip. Michelle was immediately so friendly and helpful in providing me with sample lenses for the duration of my stay. They were closing for the day and were going to remain closed for the holiday weekend but she was able to locate samples and leave them out for me to pick up after hours. After years of services at a neighboring optometrist it was time for a change of service and providers. Dr. Fleming and staff provide a personal and un-rushed atmosphere. Dr.Fleming is excellent at communicating to his patients what is happening with your eye health and explains your tests and results very well. There is no "rushing" patients through procedures and their is more of a one on one sense of relationship at Sierra Vista Optometry. This includes the front desk and the services at the optical dept. While my prescription has gone unchanged and I decided I wanted a updated pair of frames and new lenses it was a pleasant experience and my new glasses fit well and glad I made the switch in eye care provider. read more

I've been going here for contacts and glasses for 5 years. The staff is courteous and the doctors seem to be excellent. They knew when to refer me out to an eye surgeon when I had some eye pain. This is a well run eye care center. read more

Terrible experience. Patronizing optometrist who gave very little time or interest. Cold front desk and upselling glasses saleswoman (i.e. I asked for basic ground level pricing on frames and was given only expensive name-brand options). Glasses took longer than estimated to arrive, and my eyes never adjusted (made me dizzy). Turns out I was given an astigmatism correction I didn't need. I've been wearing glasses twenty years, but this was my worst experience all around. Same for my husband, who had the same experience (minus the cheaper frames, which for some reason they offered to him). We felt gypped. read more

It sounds like the person above me has a personal vendetta against someone here. I have been to several places in and out of california, and this is by far the best optometrist I've seen. The staff is very caring and helpful. Dr. Fleming found issues others have continued to look over. I will drive two hours to see him any day over the doctors I have been to. My eyes have never felt this good with contacts. The staff found me a pair of nice glasses that were In my budget. I had one of the best eye care visits and exams I've ever encountered. The office, reception and waiting areas were very clean and comfortable. The staff, very friendly and professional. If anyone else has had a bad experience, they must of confused this fine office and staff with another optometry! My mother came in for her eyes to be checked by this group By the time her exam was complete, we were told that there was nothing wrong with her eyesight. The reason that there was nothing wrong was because she was taking "eye " vitamins they stated they had prescribed. But alas, she did not take them because her house burnt down with the vitamins in them. So, they said they would prescribe the "eye" vitamins and we went to pick them up and they were not ordered 2 weeks after the appointment. Follow up with two doctors after this appointment and my mom needs help with her vision! Stay away from this group! read more

I have been a patient/customer here off and on for 15+ years and I have always found their service to be very professional, sensitive, and high quality. I grew up in Sonora, but when I moved away I had other doctors, but they never had standards quite as high as Sierra Vista Opt. I love them. My whole family goes there as well. I feel as though they are caring, considerate, friendly, and looking out for my best interests. During the exams Dr. Fleming is very professional and takes the time to address my concerns & look over my eye health. The staff who do the booking, and glasses/contacts are very friendly -- I have always felt they do their best to ensure I am taken care of. read more

The Drs. are top notch at this facility, the problem I have is the unfriendly front desk, the front office lady is rude and impatient. Ive complained to the Dr about this and they will do nothing about it. I don't enjoy when I call to make an appointment or get a reminder phone call and the front office lady has no phone etiquette. If I could give this a 0 star rating I would. I've never been talked down to and so mistreated in my entire life. I was in the office with my 1 year old son waiting in a room for over forty five minutes to be seen when Dr Fleming comes into the room screaming that my child is a neusience to him as he works, that he is too loud and the whole office had "had enough" of him. Let's make this clear that my toddler was being a toddler, coloring in a coloring book, eating snacks, dropping snacks, picking up the snacks, crying because I took away a toy or told him no that he couldn't get in the drawers and occasionally knocking on the closed door. Dr Fleming told me that I was to never bring my child back or he would refuse the exam. I am not a bad mother, I was not playing on my phone ignoring my child. I was doing my best to keep him quiet and happy but in a doctors office it's difficult!!!! He doesn't have to worry about me taking my child with me anymore because I won't be going back, after 17 years of being a faithful patient I will see if Donaldson eye care likes kids and appreciates the mothers that work hard. read more

From the very beginning the staff was condescending. I've purchased 2 pair of glasses and prescription sunglasses (very expensive) from this company. With the first pair of glasses, the frames broke twice. The 2nd time the frames broke they replaced the entire frame but refused to replace the lens that was severely scratched when they fell off my face. I should not have gone back after that but they are convenient to my workplace. This last time was the worst. They stock very few frames and all of lower quality. I wanted to take my prescription and go somewhere else but was talked into ordering a pair where the lens was not quite big enough. They suggested they order it in a larger size. I was told it would only be only a "little" larger. HA! They were HUGE! My friends and family laughed their head off. When I returned the glassed the staff treated me badly and said I had "attitude" that was documented in my file. I opened the file and saw that they had recorded the previous issue but there was no indication that I was the problem. The staff person (the office manager) was just trying to intimidate me into taking the glasses even though it was on their advise (pushing really) that got me to order them in the first place. I now have no glasses and I don't know if my insurance will pay for another pair. I know we live in a small community and there are not many options but please don't go here. I shared my story with my co-workers and 2 of them said they had similar experiences and had already stopped using them. read more
