The clinic is busy, but the system and secretaries make things run quite smooth. I'm a rather difficult case, presenting with angle recession glaucoma following an injury I had over 15 years ago. After a botched attempt in changing my eyedrop regiment at another clinic, Dr. Coburn's team accepted me as a patient and asked me to come by ASAP. As bad as the situation was, Dr. Coburn set me back on the right path. When I'm in a critical point in my care, the doctors here are willing to make exceptions. Dr. Queen has placed a beautiful shunt in my eye. I can't see it. Post-op check ups are frequent and I feel comfortable as a patient. Compared to other clinics, communication is quick and much needed emergency visits are taken seriously. Hard to get care this good anywhere.

You feel like you're on Grey's Anatomy with all of the med students, fellows, and residents that accompany him, but you also learn more about your illness/situation. I went in around the end of August and this was my first time getting an eye exam done in 2 years and since my current pair of glasses were beginning to fall apart I figured I would get a check up to renew my prescription and buy a new pair of glasses. Since I am a student at UH, I got my exam done for around ~$30 dollars or so, can't remember exact. My experience was terrible honestly. No one warned me or asked me about dilating my eyes, the diabetes and cataracts testing that would be done, or that a 10 minute eye exam was going to take OVER 3 HOURS. I also can't believe that they would do any of this considering I had to drive myself home afterwards. Although it doesn't surprise me, because I should add, there's definitely a sense of entitlement and elitism among the staff here. As soon as you walk in to the exam area, all the kids wearing their little coats are extremely stuck up, so it's no surprise that they think they can do whatever they please with the patients, while being completely careless and rude. So after over 3 hours of endless exams, and drops in my eyes, who would've guessed that my new prescription was going to be wrong? Yup you read that right, after all that, they the one thing I went in there for, my prescription that didn't even change over 2 years they got wrong. I didn't order my new glasses until the end of this past November through GlassesUSA, and received them the second week of December. After trying them on for a couple days, I immediately called the eye institute and was rudely told(of course), that NOTHING could be done because I was past my 3 month mark. Seriously? Because I was TWO WEEKS, past my 3 month mark, I wasn't allowed a refund, or a reexamination. At the time of my exam, I was actually very optimistic and excited, that I even recommended my friend to get hers done as well. Guess what? They got hers wrong too. At one point I thought I could recommend this place, but at this point, I recommend you steer far away from it. Save your money, save your time. I had to waste my money here, and then get another exam done elsewhere, for a total cost of $100, on just eye exams alone. Thank you for not only getting my prescription wrong, wasting my entire day, but also being of absolutely no help at all. Worst customer service and experience I've ever had.

To be clear, I have only spoken to the receptionists and not the doctor. I took my son in September 2024 for an annual eye exam and contact lenses fitting. He received the prescription for daily contacts which he wore over a year without any issues. We requested weekly contacts to save on the cost. My son tried the weekly contacts for over 2 months thinking he needs times for his eyes to adjust to the new contacts since they are a different brand but it was still uncomfortable for him. On 12/14, we contacted the office to see if they can provide another prescription with different brand or provide a sample so my son can test it out. The receptionist stated she will leave a message for the doctor and she'll give us a call back. The receptionist also stated they can email us the prescription. Never received a call back from the doctor. Then on 12/17 afternoon, we received a call back from another receptionist. This receptionist stated my son needs to come in for another exam because he reported his vision is blurry. I ask to do a 3 way call with my son so that we can clarify because that is not what he told me. We did 3 way calls and he stated the weekly contacts are very uncomfortable and it causes his vision to be blurry if he wears it for a while. When that happens, he closes his eyes and his vision is back to normal. He clarifies that he can see clearly with the weekly contacts. The issue is only when it's uncomfortable to his eyes. I thought the receptionist understood what he said, but I guess not because I received another call in the evening. This time is a different receptionist and she said my son needs to come in for a fitting. I ask if there is a charge for this visit and it took her time to answer yes. I ask why is he needing another fitting. She states the doctor needs to examine his eyes again. I ask why when he just had an exam in September. She stated it's their policy when it's over 2 months. I refuse to take my son back in especially this place for another eye exam when he clearly said the weekly contacts are not very comfortable. It's the brand of weekly contacts that does not work for him. Instead, this office insists that he needs to come in. All they want is to charge for another visit. At this point, I just want the office to send me the prescription with the results from the September exam and the receptionist hesitated. The morning receptionist (Karla) came on the phone and stated she recorded my son's conversation and he said the daily and weekly contacts caused his vision to be blurry. That was not what he said because I was on the phone when we did a 3 way call. I strongly suggest they listen to the conversation again if they recorded it and really listen to what the patient is saying!!! This is the first and last time I will go to this place. I would rate this place with a negative if I could.

Although that was different from my other medical apppointment experiences, it made sense since the only thing my Mom had to confirm was her personal and insurance information when she checked in. Dr. Thomas went over my Mom's specific health conditions and medication when she examined her. If you think about it, many of us submit our medical information and it goes in a file but is it brought up my physician unless the patient mentions it? Or better yet, I've had information I've done online and had to redo the same information because the system didn't save it (True story and that happenned several times at a local vision center that I will not mention here). Therefore this was refreshing to only complete or share once. Staff is so friendly and Dr. Thomas is a gem. This was my Mom's first appointment and Dr. Thomas took her time getting to know her and vice versa. What really stunned me was that this lady admitted she wasn't feeling her best but still uplheld her appointments with patients. That's devotion- and it was much appreciated for sure even though we would have understood the reshedule. It took me YEARS for my Mom to change her care to Houston area doctors. Dr. Thomas and EOP keep proving that Mom took the right advice and is getting the best care to keep her quality of life pristine. I was referred to Dr. El-Annan by another eye doctor while at MD Anderson Cancer Center. My…read morecomplaint was my left eye seemed as if someone had spread Vaseline over it and my vision was severely hampered by it. Extremely blurred. After extensive testing by Dr. El-Annan's staff, his evaluation concluded I had (PCO) posterior capsule opacification and l would need laser treatment to correct it. I agreed to the treatment. It took almost no time. After maybe two hours everything was almost normal. By the next day, I was stunned as to how good my vision was. Almost as if nothing was ever wrong! As an added bonus, Dr. Annan was so patient and so informative about every aspect of the 'operation'. He kept asking if I was understanding everything he was telling me. I was because his explanations were so thorough. I would highly recommend Dr. Annan to anyone who needs eye treatment - for anything.
