I think I've been spoiled with customer service at Nordstrom's, because the customer service here at Macy's is awful! I went to the women's shoe department to return a pair of shoes, and asked Fazad, who was behind the counter to see if they had the shoes in another size at a different store. He told me there was only one pair left and it was in New York, and that the store there gets really busy and won't answer the phone. He didn't seem like he wanted to help me and was just giving me excuses to make me leave. I was like, "Umm, could you at least try calling them first?" He called and waited a couple minutes, and then handed me the phone to leave a message for them! I was annoyed at the lack of customer service and wanted to speak to the manager, but I decided to walk away and let it go. I'm giving one star for the fact that the employees here can do basic transactions, but don't be too hopeful with them helping you in any other way. I'll just stick to shopping at Nordstrom's and will only come to Macy's if I have no other choice. read more

I do most of my holiday shopping in Bellevue Square mall. Free parking, every store is within walking distance and the selection is sometimes a little better than the selection downtown. At least that's my experience with Macy's. I dunno what is it about the one downtown but it's so narrow and I can never figure out which floor to start on. Shopping at the Bellevue Macy's is great -- if you're a talented yodeler, or are walking around painted bright blue with a huge neon sign and a brass band playing. Otherwise, good luck getting service. It's bad enough I had to be on the east side of the lake. God traffic over there sucks. And getting into that mall... argh. How many right turns do I need to make? And once I'm in there, it's like Macy's/Bellevue just don't care if they get any business from their male customers. Seriously, do you people want my money? How long do I have to stand at the men's counter to buy cologne/deoderant/after-shave? The ten minutes of pacing around, looking for someone, anyone, at any of the counters in the area were fruitless. I was totally ignored by the ladies behind the women's perfume counter--apparently it takes 2 clerks to help a female customer try on new make-up. I finally had to head into the men's clothing area to find someone, and who do I get but a busy, pissed off clerk folding clothes at the cash register. That clerk was seriously miffed that a customer dare bother them, and dismissed me with a barely legible, "I'm sorry but you'll have to find someone in that are to help you." Thanks for fucking nothing, asshole. I returned to that area, and headed over to the women's counter with a $20 bill out, ready to stuff it down one of the clerk's shirt. Oh. Money. THAT got someone's attention. After getting a once-over from the clerk, and a big sigh, she asked me if she could help me. Thanks bitch. Maybe you can. I told her exactly what I wanted. She took her time walking over to the men's counter. Asked me again what I wanted. I told her again, exactly what I wanted. She took out the box I had described twice, and wrapped it up in about a thousand sheets of paper, taped it all up, charged me credit card, and left. Oh, you're welcome. I'll stick to the downtown Macy's, any day. read more

Poor Service and Low quality furniture. Also, high prices. It looked like everyone there hated their job too........................

I worked at Bellevue Square for over two years and hardly ever found a reason to go into Macy's. I'm a fan of the accessory departments downtown (see my other review for details) but this store has little or no attraction for me. Two events stand out in my head that might explain why. First, once I was in the shoe dept for at least 45 minutes without being acknowledged. Several salespeople glanced at me and then went back to their personal conversations. More than once since in the extended period of time I made the rounds a couple times. Not cool. I actually wrote a letter of complaint which is something I have never before been moved to do. The lack of service, courtesy and professionalism blew me away. Second, I got a gift card to Macy's one Xmas. I needed a new purse so off I went. I found a purse I liked but was a little unsure of because it was navy blue and at that point in my life I only carried black purses. My boyfriend wasn't much help in the "how versatile is this and can it go with everything?" question dept, so I approached the bored looking salesgirl. I tried to pry an opinion out of her and got a bland "yes" as the response to all my questions. It was more of a verbal shrug than a yes. Not exactly a vote of confidence, nor did I feel like she possessed any sort of product knowledge. Later my boyfriend joked that she would have said yes if I asked if the purse would make me invisible. I bought the purse, but no thanks to her and only because I had to use the gift card. That was several years ago and I haven't been back since. I believe Bellevue has a separate Macy's furniture store and a friend who like the finer things in life says she gets great deals on high thread count sheets and stuff like that at Macy's. May be worth stopping in for that, but judging by my experiences and the other reviews, I'd avoid this place. Oh, but get those Frango chocolates while you can! read more

OK, so here's the thing about Macy's that we all love. You walk in, you find an item, it has that cute little sign with the star that tells you it's an additional 20% off AND if you're a Macy's card holder there's an additional 15% off on top of that. Your husband who is with you at the time, tells the sales lady he forgot his additional 20% off coupon we just got in the mail, so she lowers her glasses, looks around, then says OK fine, I'll do it just this once, and you get another additional 20% off. You get rung up only to find out your item is another 75% off. What a nice surprise you're thinking. You walk out of the store liberated, head high, excited to tell all your best buds about this great deal you got on this cute little dress and all is well in the world. And that my friends, is the common Macy's experience. We've all experienced it. We all love it. That is why we keep coming back. Oh, and forget about that one day only sale commercial and ad you keep seeing. They mean since every day is one day, you will find sales every day, but they have to get you in their store by thinking that particular day is the ONE DAY... Now let's compare this experience to say, Nordstrom - though yes, they carry more higher end brands (Macy's, we acknowledge you're trying to catch up though!) but still comparable in terms of department stores in this area. You walk in, you find an item. It's expensive. You remember you're in Nordstrom and justify to yourself that's just how much it costs, whatever. You get rung up only to find out it costs a little more than you had thought. You question the sales associate who replies that the half yearly sale is now over and that particular item was still marked from before, and that the next sale will be in 6 months. You nod in agreement, suck it up, and walk out of the store thinking, well at least I've got another Nordstrom shopping bag. Don't get me wrong, there is a time and place for both stores and when you learn to use them both for their right times, I have no complaints about either. When it comes to a good sale though, let's be honest, Macy's will always pleasantly surprise us and is truly tough to beat. read more

Disclaimer: this review is for the wedding registery services. I'm going to go 3.5 stars here. Future hubs and I were facing the monster task of registering for the pending nuptials and we decided that Macy's was going to be one of the spots we'd register at. We would have done the downtown store (which I'm more familiar with) but we also wanted to do a Crate and Barrel and those are hard to find...so the Bellevue store it was. (Then we could hit the C&B there as well...which is another review.) We were greeted quickly by the staff at the registering services area and the gal who wound up helping us turned out to be new. Sometimes you can't tell that they're new, but this wasn't one of those cases - she was more than a little scattered and she dropped a few things. She got us all signed up for registering and gave us a bag full of wedding propaganda. The one thing we found helpful in that entire bag was a checklist of items that are commonly registered for and the amount people usually register for with each item. She gave us the little scanner and showed us how to use it but neglected to really show us well how to delete things from it so we had to go back in later and delete the item she registered for with our scanner. (It wasn't really our style.) If we stood for too long in front of any given item, we would be asked multiple times by staff if we needed help. Even if we were in the midst of a debate on things like "what color Kitchen Aid stand mixer should we register for?", they would interrupt us and ask if we needed any help. It's been relatively easy adding/subtracting/changing amounts online, so that was nice. We haven't done any of that in-store since the inital round. I'm glad we did register here, but was surprised by the fact that we didn't register for nearly as much as I'd expected here. read more

Macy's has yet to prove that they are anywhere close to Nordstrom in terms of quality of products and, more importantly, customer service. In fact, I'd even go as far as saying Macy's is the Wal-Mart of customer service. We went to the Bellevue Macy's to purchase a coat for a Christmas present in the athletic department. Henry was the sales representative that day. Since the coat didn't come in the size we wanted, we asked Henry to try and locate it at another Macy's. While he was on his phone, and without making eye contact, he told us that the jacket was not a Macy's jacket and that we needed to go to the Team Store. He then (literally) snapped his fingers at us, and told us he couldn't help us. After telling him that we had already tried looking at the Team Store, he finally tried searching on his computer. After about 30 seconds, he told us that his computer shut down, and he couldn't help us (a second time). He made no attempt to re-boot his computer or try another terminal to help us out. We brought this matter to a supervisor named Cat, who finally resolved our problem. Thank goodness for her. This was the only positive outcome from this experience. Seriosuly, Macy's, keep hiring sub-par, inadequate, employees like this. It only further validates why I only come here when I absolutely have to. read more

I think I left my insulin pump in a fitting room there, but I literally cannot get a hold of anyone on the phone to ask. No one answers the phone. I won't be able to drive there until 24 hours later, so by then I'm pretty sure it will be lost or stolen. read more

This has got to be one of the worst department stores I have ever been into. I've been a fan of Macy's for a long time, but every encounter I've had at this location has been a nightmare. From shopping for menswear with a friend, to buying women's clothes, to even the makeup counters. I'm not sure where the lack of customer service comes from. I assume that places like this have extremely high turnover rates and they don't take the time to train people on what customer service entails, but come on!! People don't like to be herded out like cattle, or treated any lesser than someone else because the employee's pissed off about their job. I worked in a fitting room of a department store a couple of years ago, and I can't even believe the fitting rooms of the juniors department at this location. My word! I have never seen this place organized or in any kind of remotely clean shape. There's always a TON of clothes left in the dressing rooms from people who come in, try stuff on, and than turn around and leave it all in there. The go-back racks are always stuffed to the brim and overflowing. I'm not sure they ever put things back out on the floor. So Macy's, if your store has a high shrink percentage and you're wondering why... that's where I would start if I was you. I would also encourage searching for employees who will care about your business and your company, or working on training the ones you do have. The people in the juniors department are some of the worst customer associates I've ever seen in any store. read more

This review is for men's clothes department. I went in to get measured for a tuxedo one day. Simple, right? For 10 minutes the guy just tried to sell me a suit. Ignoring everything about my measurements and giving me a frustrating run around. Finally after I insisted on measurements, he said that he couldn't measure me. He called someone else there. She acted like it was the strangest request she'd ever gotten: why would anyone want to get measured for a tuxedo? Why not just buy one from us? Ugh, super slimey and unprofessional. The next day I simply stopped by an alteration place and they measured me upon request and knew exactly what I needed. I felt uncomfortable and frustrated the whole time. Only one lady who a half hour later helped us complete the purchase of some shirts was nice. The other gentlemen literally sold us the wrong shirt (let me grab a new one for you and he grabbed the wrong style) and we had to walk all the day back across the mall to return it just for him to never apologize nor take responsibility for what happened. Macy's needs some serious work in this department overall. read more

Wish the customer service was better. I had some issues the last couple times when I have gone in the Men's Department to shop for my husband. Nobody helped me, or even said hi. If I could give NO star, I would. I was checking out at the basement of Macys with a voucher my hubby got my for my birthday. Upon check out, I saw another customer attended by Adrienna, asking abt Macy's card and its perks. Then I recalled my husband got the Macys credit card last year. So I asked them if I could still get points for my purchase. I tried asking in different ways to the apparently quite new cashier who didnt understand me. So I directed the question to Adrienna who at this point has finished serving her customer. She Ignored me! I attempted asking a couple more times and two of them ignored me! I know for a fact that the cashier attending to me was busy with packing up my thing and getting me back my change and it may be innocent. But Adrienna, she really TOTALLY ignored me and walked away. In the end, the cashier told me no I can't use my Macys card with the voucher, which is fair. When I turned around, Adrienna rolled her eyes on me! Gasp! If im a member of a place, I would expect to get points for any purchase be it I decide to pay cash, voucher or card. Whatever it is, those behaviours were uncalled for! I have a budget of 2k for a new wardrobe for the season. That would be my last purchase Macy's. Bye and u shall not be miss! :( read more

I'm not typically a big fan of Macy's, but lately the store - particularly this store - has won me over. It's a madhouse at times, like when there's a big sale, and when that happens, good luck finding help and enjoy those long lines. BUT the last couple of times I've gone, it's been at off-peak hours, and the staff has been so helpful and friendly. On my last visit, my daughter found a pair of shoes on the clearance rack that she loved, but not her size. The sales gal helped us locate a pair in the right size in another store, arranged to have them held, and made sure I got the correct sale price since I was using a single use coupon. Tonight we stopped in and I spent a lot of time not buying handbags. The clerk checked in several times, and when I finally explained what I was looking for, made some truly helpful suggestions, let me know dates of upcoming new merchandise, and also about an upcoming sale. She wasn't pushy, just really helpful. The merchandise selection is quite good, and if you get a Macy's card, the coupons that come along with it are some crazy good savings. read more

She then continued her attitude when we kept standing there. Laughing snarky and just horrible customer service in general. People at the cashier were nice. I recently visited the Bellevue Square Macys to pick up an online order. I went straight to the kiosk located on the lower level near the juniors section, asked the girl working the counter about my order, and, barely looking up, she let me know I was in the right place. She then played around with some tape on a box for about 15 seconds while I stood there awkwardly. She said nothing, didn't look at me, just kept playing with her box. Then after a bit, she finally acknowledged my presence, although she seemed really annoyed that I was still standing there. I started to wonder if there was someone else I was supposed to speak to but no one said as much. She finally checked my confirmation email for my online order then went to get the item. I waited a few minutes then gave my mom, who was with me but standing several feet away, a surprised look. She was watching the whole thing and seemed disgusted, so I knew this wasn't just me. When the girl came back, she boredly checked my ID. She then told me to check my item to make sure it was correct. I did so, waited a minute, trying to see if there was anything else but she was back to ignoring me. So, just wanting to get out of the situation, I mumbled a "thanks" and tried to leave. She then snapped at me that I still had to sign something (she couldn't have told me this a moment ago, when I was standing there staring at her like an idiot?). I signed it and got out of there to try on my item to make sure it was the right size. It wasn't, so, wanting to exchange it, I begrudgingly went back to her to ask where the department was located. She snapped that it was upstairs, and proceeded to give me a crappy look as I turned to leave. I thanked her, if sarcastically, and left. I do not know what this girl's problem was or why my mere existence seemed to cause her so much irritation. I do know that after having gone through that, and feeling like I was close to tears when I had just wanted to pick up an order, I have no intention of returning to this location ever and will deter others from going as well--at least until this girl finally leaves this job that she seems to detest so much. I didn't catch her name. Again, she worked the lower level at the kiosk adjacent to the junior department. She had dark hair and thick, dark eyebrows drawn on, which were as awful as her personality. read more

I want to hate it, but Macy's does me proper every time I go there. Here's the thing. I abhor shopping. It stresses me out. It makes me use SAT words. Whether I know exactly what I'm looking for or just browsing for seasonal clothing, nothing about trying to cram myself into an outfit is pleasant. So despite my attempts to support local places and smaller boutiques, I always end up here. I've gotten phenomenal deals here, especially on dresses. For whatever reason, I've found amazing dresses (casual to formal) for ridiculously cheap prices. For example, my friend wanted everyone to wear "light colors" to her summer wedding in the Caribbean. But it was a semiformal event. 20 minutes and I found a gorgeous light green hand-beaded number with an overlay that hid sweat and it was 75% off! I'll say that the only thing that has disappointed me there was their shoe department. Every time I've waited at least 10 minutes and never gotten help. So that's the minus star. At least I know I can depend on them when it comes to finding something cute, fitted, and on sale when I have an event to shop for. read more

3.75 stars. This place holds a special position in my heart because this is where I get all of my homecoming and tolo dresses. Last year, I came here for my very first HC dress shopping trip. From what I saw, there was A LOT of purple. I wasn't into purple, so I skipped those. I later moved onto the other items in the store. Browsing around the myriad of dresses, I spotted a few that I liked. These included strapless and spaghetti strap, no halters. I typically do not like halter dresses. =P In the end, a dark blue dress with thick black straps, a shear cover over the blue fabric with little silver squares, and a huge black ribbon on the waist was the winner. The other dresses didn't seem to fit me well, or the color did not suit me. I came here with my mom, but I was able to see my other friends shopping for their own homecoming dresses. After check out, I was ready for homecoming! Fast forward a year, to 2010. It's that time of year again, when I have to shop for a new dress. After seeing all of the purple dresses last year, I was like SIGH...because I love the color, purple now! Anyway, I came here with my friend as well. She needed a homecoming dress too. Sad to my knowledge, the selection was scarce. I wasn't able to find the variety of styles that I had encountered in the shopping trip the year before. I saw basically, the same style throughout the dress section. Fortunately, my mother was able to find some gorgeous dresses for my friend and I to try on in the fitting room. I ended up purchasing a purple strapless dress. SUCCESS!! I am so looking forward to the 2010 homecoming! Our theme is red carpet, essentially hollywood. I don't know if I can rate less than one star, but if I could do negatives I would. I never shop at Macy's, as I am morally opposed to it. But just before Christmas my mom and I were walking through the Bellevue Macy's on the way somewhere. I am always on the hunt for 7 "A pocket" jeans, and I saw a new pair right by the door. SO I tried them on and went to buy them. Seven makes all of their jeans individually, so you could get three totally different fits from three pairs of the same pant. You have to wash them before finding a true fit because they shrink differently too. I have bought nearly ten pairs of these jeans the last 2 years (retailing at usually over $200 a piece, BTW), and I know how it works. Nordstrom lets you return them if you washed them and they don't fit, just try to have the tags on or w. the product and the receipt. They work with you. They want your business. Unlike Macy's. At the checkout counter, which I finally found behind masses of tackily arranged clothes, the checkout girl was not rude, but definitely not going out of her way to know about the products, or provide good customer service. On the tag is a stamped "ORIGINAL TAGS MUST BE ATTACHED (NOT REATTACHED) TO RETURN PRODUCT". Okay, I get it. I know it's there, but WHY?!!! So, I go home and try them on, wash twice, and try on again. They don't fit. They will never fit me right. Buying Sevens is a trial and error process. Since I can't return them I complain online to headquarters, who directs my email after a few days to Bellevue Macys, who sends it to the Executive Assistant to the store manager. A few days after that, she calls me to say very nicely that that is not how they provide good customer service and I can return my jeans no problem. If they have an issue at the counter just give her a call. A few days later I go to return my pants, with tags in the pocket and the receipt. Even the size sticker is there! I managed to find the Juniors department, not where I wanted to be, and tried to return them there. Now here is my point. There are two girls who can't be older than 12 "working" behind the counter. One's hanging clothes, the other's standing there. I walk up to the register, and stand there for almost 5 minutes. I'm not two feet from this girl. She looks at me at the counter, turns around to her friend folding clothes, and starts talking about some girl in their class. Her e-mail, this and that. HELLO?! I'm a customer, standing here, looking right at you! After they finish the gossip session, little Suzie turns around and looks at me, not saying anything. I take that as my cue and ask her to return my pants. She tells me I can't and directs me elsewhere, with partial directions and a snarky look. Onwards, upstairs. I weave my way through overstocked piles of cheap clothes and bad music to finally find the department where I bought them. Here, again two girls, this time at least out of middle school. I explain my situation and the bored girls tell me over and over again what the receipt says and that I can't, finally calling a manger. She comes after a few minutes, and is about as friendly as the two teeny-boppers downstairs. She says the same thing for a while, and goes off to find my e-mail downstairs. Of course, they didn't draft me an e-mail back, just an unrecorded phone call and deleted my complaint. She can't find it, so they make some phone calls, and I wait. It's been about 45 minutes since I came into this god-awful store. Someone says the magic words on the phone, and now I can return my pants. All present (3 of them) are rude to me and sigh as they do what I came for- return these pants. At least I got what I wanted, but if I weren't so poor right now I'd rather have paid the 200 dollars and not dealt with those ridiculous people. I have never in my life received worse customer service. Obviously, it was my huge mistake in the first place even walking through Macys. I will not even take that bridge to step foot in this store again in my life. The worst experience that I have ever had was with these people. I remember reading that someone wanted to rate a pasta place in Queen Anne "DOG". That seems to fit the bill here. read more

re: item return Noticed they were having a sale on something I recently received as a gift. I was told I could not get the difference, because based on the gift receipt it was past 14 days. Although the Associate did not suggest this, I returned the item for store credit, then used the store credit to buy the sale item. Small workaround, but was still able to walk out with the difference on a gift card. I normally do not shop at Macy's, but when they have some sales, it can be pretty rock bottom prices (ie. easily beat online sales, etc.) read more

HIGHLIGHT: NO APPLE PAY + DISCOVER ACCEPTANCE (despite that they claim so). Today I was trying to use Discover Card in Apple Pay at Macy's, but couldn't go through after repeated attempts. It didn't have issue using other cards in Apple Pay or using the plastic Discover card. The staff apparently knew they're having issue with this and it was expected. I have also seen a LOT of complaints in forums on not being able to use Apple Pay + Discover at Macy's. Interestingly, Macy's is listed on both Discover's and Apple's official website as supporting merchant. Recently Apple and Discover are promoting the Apple Pay + Discover extra 10% reward. However, Macy's seems to be escaping from participating in this promotion furtively: customers come to this place, shopping around while expecting the Apple Pay experience and Discover's extra reward, but only to find that their payment can't go through, and they have to either try another paying method without extra reward or give up their cart. This is like bait and switch. Until they fix this and make a public announcement, I'll never shop at Macy's. read more

The review is well overdue. Words are not enough to express my gratitude for Carla from customer service at the Macys in Wellington. Two words about C-A-R-L-A...SERVICE EXCELLENCE!!! 10/10! Carla is such a nice, caring and experienced dentist, she makes you feel comfortable the moment you walk in. She is very professional, knowledgeable and so sweet. Carla is extremely nice, knowledgeable, and patient. She always makes me and my family feel welcome. Her service to us is beyond outstanding! Carla always takes great care of me and my family when we shop, browse, or window shop. She takes her time to assist in any way she can even outside of her department. Always going above and beyond. She truly makes out shopping a pleasure EVERY TIME! Never in a hurry. Always welcoming you with a bright shining smile. Carla is a tremendous asset to your organization. This Macy's is not as large as the downtown site, but it still is pretty darn big, covering 3 floors and anchoring the mall on the east quadrant. There are many, many distinct departments and sections within each department, and there are hundreds of employees. So I can totally see how some reviews are poor, if the reviewer encountered a less-seasoned or young salesperson in any one department. But for me, I love this store and have always had great luck in finding what I need, and I've always had lovely salespeople help me. For the record, the junior/teen and kids' department is on the lower level. The main level contains the mens' clothing department, cosmetics and jewelery and womens' shoes and accessories (i.e., purses, sunglasses, etc.). The top level is reserved for women's clothing (from designer labels to basics, with sections for petites, and plus-size and all in between). As a side note, the Macy's home store department is located mid-mall, down a central escalator. There's a women's bathroom on every floor, and it's always been clean. (There's probably a men's' bathroom too, but I'm not sure where they are). The sales are great, as they are in all Macy's, and they are frequent. If you are a Star Rewards member, you'll get "passes" in the mail regularly, for 20% off item prices - even sale prices. Yes, there are usually exceptions but, for the most part, you can still get high quality items for a really decent cost. I like how they can and will ship items to your home free of charge if they don't have your size or color item in stock, and how they never give you grief if you have to return something. I also really like how you can pay your Macy's bill at any counter, in any Macy's store (rather than finding a Customer Service desk and waiting in an endless line, as in other store. Do you hear me, Target?). The other day I was shopping for a dress for a wedding. This is tantamount to root canal for me - without the anesthesia. I hate dresses and I must have tried on at least 150 of them in various stores. They all fit me but none are flattering on me. Ladies, I know you understand. At any rate, in the INC section of this store, with the help of an amazing saleslady named Evelyn, I was able to find a dress that fit and was attractive on me. I couldn't have done it without Evelyn's help and her honest-to-goodness opinions and advice. Earlier, I was able to find the perfect shapewear for me, with Raina's assistance in the "Intimate Apparel" department (I had no idea what "shapewear" was, but I knew I needed SOMETHING. Something industrial! LOL). Honestly, in the thousands of times I've been to this store, I've always had exceptional salespeople who have assisted me. Passing by to look at the sale on shoes. The shoes were managed by 4 older men. I approached one man in a suit to find the other pair of the shoe I was holding. After about 15 minutes, he came back and said the other side was missing. I told him this is a bad customer service, he interrupted and said, it's not about customer service. I beg to differ. When s customer leaves your store disappointed and upset, it is poor customer service. I said I will not be shopping here again. He said, that's just fine. I have never been at this Macy's but I can tell you that their staff, especially Debbie was very helpful. I needed to buy multiple sizes of a particular shirt (to be used as a uniform) and I see that this location has them in the size Small. I called and had them look for this shirt in the clearance section with just a description that I had given since the Macy's system did not have a picture of this shirt. Which they found by the way. I was extremely grateful for their determination to help me find this shirt. I had initially had this to be shipped to Canada, but it was declined by UPS. Debbie called me back to make sure that this shipment was going somewhere I needed it to be. Now it is on its way here in Chicago! Thanks Debbie! read more

I am just shocked by the lack of customer service provided from Macy's customer service. I have shopped there since I was little. I am (well, until 2 hrs ago) a platinum card holder with them. Platinum (lol), I would hate to see how they treat a "non" platinum card holder, because I can promise you "platinum" means, nothing to them. I was hung up on, lied to, laughed at, hung up on again, emails weren't returned, calls weren't returned, either by corporate or store managers. I cancelled both my cards, I was asked why, I told them, they said, okay. No, oh my gosh can we do anything to change your mind, nothing! Good riddance, cards cut up and I won't shop there again, I will find a new "go to" store. Peace out Macy's read more

Macy's is a staple in my shopping regimen. Having moved from the states to north of the border, I dearly miss shopping here. Came down for the weekend and made one of my first stops at Macy's. I only shopped the men's section and found the staff to be more than helpful. The shoe guy got us every shoe that we asked for. The suit guys helped us with finding the right sizes and even chit-chatted about the upcoming Olympics. The shirt/tie guys were there to answer our questions. The prices? Amazing! So many sales running right now - it was hard to decide what to buy first. read more

Okay, don't come to Macy's expecting super-knowledgeable and eager staff, a live piano player, and an extremely lienient return policy (e.g. "Wear these shoes for a year and you can still return them," like at Nordstrom's). Heck, I might as well say don't come into Macy's expecting a Nordstrom's. What you can expect are hands-off (and english-as-a-second-language) salespeople, steep discounts (on already discounted items), and a wide selection. When I have these expectations of Macy's, I really enjoy shopping here. I love how I'm always surprised by extra discounts at the register that weren't advertised on the rack! For example, I thought I was buying an $85 Ralph Lauren sweater that was on sale for $53, but the register pleasantly surprised me with a price tag of $29.95! Wow, seriously?! (And yes, every one of the three clerks that helped me in verious departments today had very heavy middle-east / east-European accents.) What you can expect of Macy's is that it's a bargain bin with a spiffed-up facade. I love you, Macy's, even with all of your faults! Your constant sales keep me coming back for more! read more

I have not had good luck at this store. The service and selection is not as good as Seattle, although it's better than Southcenter. If you are a young man and must buy a work wardrobe, there are worse places to do it (I'm talking to you, K&G). Here is my advice: If you want a brand name suit, Macy's has a good selection and is cheaper than Nordstrom but they charge you for every little alteration and it can add quite a bit to the cost if you want the suit to fit right. This store sends all its unsold clearance suits to Seattle, so you may have better luck finding a suit on sale if you go downtown. For work shirts, I've had much better luck at Nordstrom/the Rack. The service is hit and miss, so inform yourself, know what you're looking for, and only use sales staff when necessary. Don't wait until the day before you need something. Everything is always going on sale all the time, e.g., "one day sales." Sign up for the email list and they will notify you about them the day of, however you will also be bombarded mercilessly with marketing emails for all sorts of things you don't want. For additional coupons, sign up for a Star Rewards card. Not all sales are created equal. For example, "Private sales" are marketing hooey, they're just regular sales, and not always very good ones at that. Some "one-day sales" have door busters, which are additional discounts offered early in the day that can be pretty steep. If you are severely broke-ass it may be worth telling your boss you have a dentist appointment to get to the store early. read more

Their mens department sales are the only reason I really come here. My biggest issue? I saw signs in all of the dressing rooms stating that any store-bought clothing could be altered for free. When my fiance and I showed up to have his blazer altered I asked if there were charges, and the guy told us "well yes it's never free". The dressing room right next to that department had another one of those "free alterations" signs. It's a scam. We just took the blazer home and scoffed. Their selection is poor. I did a lot of shopping at Macy's in NYC, and that's the only place where I was ever able to find my bra size at an affordable price (Victoria's secret rarely has my size as well). This Macy's had only two brands of strapless bras--both were the same style and shape. The only reason I gave this a three and not a two is that I had a lovely woman help me in the woman's department the other day. It was the day before a job interview and I was desperate for casual business (all I have is formal and overly casual). She ran all over the woman's department finding me things and spent an hour with me until I was 100% satisfied with my outfit. There was some sales pressure, but that was easy to ignore. I found things on the Ralph Lauren clearance rack for 60% off, which was very nice. However due to the outrageous costs to begin with I would rather shop at JC Penney. read more

Horrible expierence! Had to return snickers (check, box, etc all with me), waste more than 40 min! They kick me all over store, like soccer ball, and finally I got back to beginning, after arguing another 10 min., finally was able to return. Planned to buy another pair and some other sloth, but with such horrible customer service expierence don't think will come back soon. And definitely will not advice anyone shopping this horrible place. If staff unable to provide simple tasks they hired for, staff should be replaced. On another hand, I would be not surprised, if they not get paid enough to be motivated to do their job properly, either way, it is not my fault, and I'm not a source of their problems to be threatened like that. read more
