This place gave me mixed emotions. I enjoyed the value this place has. The sales were/are great. Staff were warm and willing to help with anything. Some areas were neat and put together and others weren't. You have to inspect what you're buy from this establishment because items from their Clearance section could have been in a previous customers home and or in other places and brought to this location. A lot of items had chips and dents in them but overall a good value. If you're handy with a stain brush for wood and or sand paper, you can find great things here. In other areas, I wish there were more items to select and see. This place has major potential to dress their show room to beat all competition in the local area. I'm coming back to see if there is more to choose from. read more

I don't even want to go through the emotional labor of writing this, as it seems everyone else here as had a similarly maddening experience, but I need an outlet to express my anger. I visited Macy's Furniture Gallery IN-PERSON because it listed the items we wanted as being in stock and I didn't want to go through the mess of delivery. We got there and they - surprise - did not have the items stocked. We ordered two basic box springs and a bed frame. What unfolded over the course of the next two months were multiple scheduled deliveries that did not happen, no communication that they weren't happening, me having to follow up every time bc they were marked as "delivered" and them eventually delivering half the items on a day I had not selected or approved and wasn't home. I followed up about the missing bed frame, which was marked delivered, and they asked if I wanted a refund or a "redelivery". When I asked if they could provide an ETA on when we'd receive it, they said they had no idea. I opted for the refund, for my sanity, which they said would process in 20 days. 20 days for a refund seems excessive? Bottom line, it's so infuriating to deal with all of this for a basic box spring and bed frame. That you pay extra for to have delivered. I will never patronize Macy's again and will encourage every I know to do the same. What an absolutely hellish, soul sucking experience. read more

BUYER BEWARE... Absolute cluster of a situation. We ordered a custom bed for our daughter back in August. We understood that there it wouldn't be in until November. This seems standard since COVID. So November 11 the bed gets delivered and it has the wrong headboard which makes the bed completely unlevel slanting at a severe angle downward to the footboard. The foot has a storage door that can't open due to this issue. My husband drove to the store to figure out what happened after getting no where with customer service. Finally realized the sales associate (Rich) ordered the wrong headboard. After talking through was on how we can just "make the headboard work" by propping up the foot on 2x4s, etc., they made my husband pay to order the correct headboard which won't be here for another 3 months. We will only be refunded after they get the old one back. He told them how terrible of an experience this has been and they offered him $50 off. Our daughter won't have a useable bed for three months and they thought that would make us satisfied. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AT MACYS. read more

I bought a $5,000 Beautyrest Black mattress from Macy's and a week afterwards it started to sag. They sent out a technician to measure the sag and it was only 1 inch after a week (warranty said it had to be 1.5 inches). Fastforward 1.5 months and they won't even discuss sending out a technician to measure the sag again since we "just" had one out. If I return the mattress, they charge a 15% restocking fee but if I had bought the mattress from the manufacturer directly, no restocking fee. DONT BUY FURNITURE FROM MACYS. read more

I came in here because I saw a beautiful couch online and wanted to see it in person. I raced over because the one I had really wanted was sold out & discontinued nationwide, but they had a similar style come in earlier that day and at a great price. When I got there, the couch really did look beautiful, but as soon as I sat on it, I felt like I was sitting on my grandma's couch (tufted, uncomfortable, AND a low-rider (my back already sucks...why would I do that to myself?!)). In spite of the couch turning out to be a deceptively beautiful clunker, my 3-stars aren't based on the couch (that would be rather shallow, wouldn't it?). It was the appearance of the store and service - average. For a Macy's furniture store, I was expecting it to have more of an upscale look. Surprisingly, it looks like there haven't been any exterior updates since Dayton's/Marshall Fields moved out. The service started out great until another associate said there was a phone call for him and he took it. Heh heh, probably internal code for she's-not-going-to-buy-so-you-may-as-well-ditch-her-now. Anyway, he got distracted and time went on. I found him and he was embarassed and apologetic. Forgiven. But not impressed that he didn't have the other associate take a message. Boo & tacky. My time was wasted waiting around. Overall furniture in the store was lovely, but everything else about it I would have expected more. read more

The absolute worst customer service ever! They messed up every order placed. They delivered the wrong furniture seriously delivered 1/2 of a couch. Charged us crazy delivery fees and lost the other 1/2 of the couch. Not to mention they pressured us into opening credit cards that they charged without or express permission. They failed to make it right and when we went to another location for help Macy's customer service punished the good sales associate by taking her commission away and paid these inept people! We recently purchased a sofa for our condo building. We paid for it and our sales person put a sold tag on it, to be delivered in two weeks. The day before delivery we got a call that the sofa no longer existed. It looks like someone took the sold tag off and re-sold it to another person who took it home that same day. DO NOT BUY FURNITURE FROM MACY's!! Macy's has fallen so far down in customer service it's almost unrecognizable as the same company I used to love and trust. We recently bought a new bedroom set consisting of a queen headboard and footboard, two nightstands, chest of drawers, and long dresser with mirror from Macy's. Delivery was scheduled for 9/10/19 in St. Louis MO and my husband and I took the entire day off to ensure we didn't miss the delivery. Close to the end of our two hour delivery window, we received a phone call telling us the delivery men were outside of our apartment building and would only wait 15 minutes before leaving. We had no idea where they were, so we both ran outside to look for them. We could not locate the delivery truck. It turns out the unmarked white Enterprise rental truck had driven around our building one time WITHOUT STOPPING and then left, parking out of sight about a quarter mile away near a fast food store. They waited 15 minutes, then left the area, marking the non-delivery as "delivery completed" in their log. We were outraged, as we were told we could not call the driver or the warehouse to complain about the complete lack of attempt to make delivery. THIS IS THE ONLY COMPANY WE'VE DEALT WITH THAT WILL NOT LET YOU COMMUNICATE DIRECTLY WITH THE DELIVERY DRIVER. This is an important warning for everyone, because if the driver cannot find your location or willfully chooses to avoid delivery of a large order on a very hot afternoon, as we suspect happened to us, you have no recourse. We have now been billed for a bedroom set we have not received. Despite numerous calls to Macy's Customer Service, it is abundantly clear that no one cares that the driver deliberately avoided delivering our furniture and all we can do is reschedule delivery on a future date. Furniture wise, Macy's might not be the cheapest, but their modern European styles is definitely one of the better places in Minneapolis. Still I think one of their bigger downfalls is the lack of inventory. It took almost a month for me get my sofa piece. There was several times where there was confusion as to what was going to arrive and when. Still, I would say I had a bad experience with their service level. The sales agent "Cory Evans" although talked a good game, has very little follow through. I'm not sure if other sales associate have the same issues, but this one completely did nothing for me. Upon placing my order I was told when it would be arriving into their Chicago facility and approximately how long it would take to get to their warehouse. Then around the time of it's arrival to the Chicago warehouse I got no phone call indicating that it came in. I had to personally make the phone calls to find out that the shipment had arrived and had to schedule the shipment into Minneapolis. The only the sales associate did was mail me the receipt. If I do end up purchasing furniture again. It probably won't be through Macy's and definitely not Mr. Evans. read more

Macy's does it again. From wedding stuff to fancy sheets to affordable/sexy/comfy furniture; Macy's knows their sh!t. I went to the furniture gallery on Sunday after visiting that stinkhole Slumberland and the way overpriced Borofka's and finding nothing to meet our needs at either place. Walking into the Macy's furniture gallery is like walking into a fancy and stylish Ikea minus the meatballs and lingonberry juice boxes. The furniture is gorgeous, modern and actually comfortable it's also extremely reasonably priced. We bought a 6 piece sectional plus an ottoman for $1,700. Save yourself the frustration, just start your furniture journey at Macy's. **They lose one star for not having enough people working on a busy Sunday afternoon-it took us awhile to actually pay for the couch. read more

Recently bought a house, and used Macy's Furniture Gallery Edina to make a couch, chair, dining room, and sideboard purchase. Marsha Ruwe was the sales associate, and did a great job pricing everything out for us, and ensuring that I received the best price within the schedule based on sales prior to and over Black Friday. She was patient and answered all of our questions clearly and honestly. The couch and chair - Devon brand - were in great shape, and delivery drivers took care to not damage the couch or anything in our home. Unfortunately we had issues with the quality of the Augusta dining set and sideboard. We tried a couple different pieces (3 sideboards!) and each had scratches. We had to call customer service and negotiate a discount for keeping the pieces as is. it was then that Marsha's manager , Sathya Venkataraman, reached out and made sure that my account was credited in a timely manner. Really surprised this place has such low reviews! We had some of the best customer service we have ever had at this place. We had sales representatives from the mattress section and the furniture section help us and I am so happy with the purchases. These were major investment pieces for a twenty-something, but by the end they helped me feel confident in my purchases. Now that I have the actual pieces in my apartment I'm so happy! The sales reps helped us through every step of the process and were so kind and personable. From the moment we walked into this beautiful location, looking for a dining set, to buying our couches and accent furniture, we've always been treated wonderfully. I am a disabled veteran and I highly recommend that you don't shop here. They made a promise to deliver about $2700.00 dollars of merchandise. They said, "Sorry, the weather is too cold. We can't keep our promise." So, I returned to the store and requested a refund on everything. What a nightmare. They refused to refund the money back into my account. My bank shows that the money was withdrawn. With a - symbol. I told them that this is not a pending transaction and I wanted my my money back into my account. They said,"Take it up with your bank." In June, we visited the Southdale Macy's Furniture Gallery (Edina, MN) to look at recliners. I found one classic model that I felt would suit my plans for a particular room. We received wonderful attention from a sales associate. But I was not in a rush to purchase. One night, during the 2nd week of July 2014, a Tuesday or Thursday, after getting home from work, I decided that would be the night I would run over to the store to place my order for two recliners. I didn't have the business card of the helpful associate who had previously helped me, but I thought I would describe her, and the staff working would surely be able to help me identify her. However upon arriving, I wandered the store for over 30 minutes without seeing a store associate. I did see at least 6 other folks or couples who were browsing. All appeared to be browsing. None appeared to be engaged with a sales associate. Finally, I saw two associates in the back area engaged in what was clearly non-business conversation. I paused in front of them. Surely, I thought, they would break from their conversation and ask if I needed assistance. However, there was no acknowledgement of my presence. After two minutes, I resolved that no one working that night would get sales credit for my $2,000 sale, nor would that location get "credit" for my sale. Worst customer experience ever. We purchased a love seat & sofa in the Edina location which was a fairly smooth process. Their deliver service (white gloves delivery) scheduled delivery on Saturday 3/24/18 which was two weeks out. The delivery time provided was 3:15-5:15pm. To create space for our new living room set we donated all of our existing furniture that Saturday morning. At 5pm we received an automated call saying the delivery team was running late and would be there by 6:15. No problem, we were home to stay at this point and needed our furniture. By 8:00pm there were no signs of our furniture so we called the store and spoke with a manager Linda . She told us she'd make some calls and get back to us. We didn't hear back from Linda so we called back at 8:45pm (the store closes at 9pm) only to learn they honestly could not locate our furniture Unfortunately we didn't hear anything from any Macy's or the delivery team by 9am the next morning so we called the main customer service line. Charlotte from CS (coldly) informed us the driver ran out of maximum driving time permitted and the furniture needed to be returned to the warehouse before they could even BEGIN the rescheduling process (hahaha). We don't write reviews often but I would recommend staying away from Macy's Furniture at all costs. My family and I are sitting here on the floor while I write this review considering going to the local showroom to sit on the couches we already own! :) To add insult to injury- the delivery service is not free. Proceed with caution - or not at all! Placed an order (in-store) for a dining table and bench first week in March. Was quoted an estimated in-stock date of 3/28. When I wasn't contacted to arrange delivery, I reached out to the sales agent who said the date had been pushed back to 4/4 and suggested calling that first week of April to arrange delivery. I called today and was told that the order had been pushed back AGAIN- to 4/10. The trend here is they keep telling me the next week, then the next week, when they have ZERO visibility to their vendor's inventory. Am about to cancel this order all together as it might be August before I see the table and bench. Update - I've decided to cancel my order all together. After reading other reviews on here, I have little to no confidence that IF something actually gets delivered, that it will even be what I saw in the store or without defect. read more

Horrible customer service. Bought two chairs in November and they put in the order number wrong. When the chairs were delivered they weren't the right ones so we didn't accept them. We were told someone would call us to fix it. No one ever did. 2 1/2 months later, they have not refunded us our $1800 and have told us on four separate occasions a check would be expedited to us. And, still no one has initiated any conversation with us. We have had to call after every check they said would be mailed, never showed up. We have gone to the store to talk to numerous managers. Regional manager on the phone was not helpful at all, no creative thinking, no negotiating even with offering a restocking fee like most other stores with restrictive return policies have. We ordered a bed and scheduled delivery for about two weeks later. They didn't call and didn't show up. When I called, I was told they attempted delivery. When I replied that was impossible as I was home, they changed the store to say that due to warehouse error, they were missing parts so they skipped our house. I was told I had to wait a day to reschedule. The next day, the delivery truck showed up without warning! The delivery guy called to say he was at the house, but since we had no warning, nobody was home. We again had to wait a day to reschedule, at which time I was told that the first available delivery was a week later! When I complained, I was told they would work on it. The next day, I got a call that the delivery would be on Sunday (three days later). Then, on Saturday, I got a call that they need to reschedule to Monday. Meanwhile, we got rid of our bed and dresser in reliance of the original delivery date. I have purchased furniture from many stores and have never experienced such disfunction and obvious disregard for customers. So, if you want to avoid frustration and disappointment, don't buy furniture from Macy's. read more

The lady at the counter was new, so she had us standing around at least 20 minutes and kept asking me to swipe my card, which caused my card's fraud alert system to block it. After she asked me to swipe it about 4 times, she finally said it was asking me to call the bank.. Her associate, CHANELL, in the back decides to step in and says, very loudly, with several other people within hearing distance, "YOU MUST NOT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY IN YOUR ACCOUNT" ummmmm excuse me?? It says to call the bank, probably because your colleague asked me to swipe it a million times and can't figure out how to take a debit payment, and who asked you to advise me on whether or not I have enough money in my account?? Super rude lady, very dismissive and made me feel like I was stealing for trying to buy a dress.. I went home, called my bank, had the fraud issue sorted and was able to place an order online within 5 minutes... and this is why big box stored are shutting down- when they can't even provide the service that is supposed to make them better than online :| read more

We've bought furniture here before - maybe it was still Dayton's (or Field's, which was still Dayton's under a new name). NOW I think they don't really care about this market. We were looking for a couch and didn't find what we wanted that day, but I did see a small accent piece that I liked. Couldn't find anyone to ask about it (although no one else seemed to be shopping there at the time). Went home and thought about it and later decided I wanted it. Returned and checked with salesperson - everything needs to be shipped from Chicago and costs $90 in shipping (minimum). This was 1/3 of the price of the item. Little if any accessories. Everything is painted gray, and that's the feeling it emitted too. What decorating there was was art that said For Visual Display Only. Worst experience ever, In May of 2017 Our mattress we purchased from Macy's was deemed defective. We had to purchase the new one and they said they would credit our account. The amount we paid for the defective mattress. The sales lady wrung it up wrong I'm sure so she could get more commissions! We received an email stating our merchandise was on the truck to be delivered. So I took a day off work with no pay. The merchandise was NOT delivered. The factory short shipped. So I had to take another day off of work. Now after spending over 4 hours on hold with Macy's credit card service our credit card is still NOT credited the $1045. Macy's owes us. I asked to speak to a supervisor after a customer service person said she would fix it, but didnt. In the transfer I was DISCONNECTED! Called back was put on hold for 20 minutes to be told the supervisor Emili was going on lunch break and would call me back in 45 minutes. That was 3 days ago! Still waiting! No wonder Macy stores are going out of business! ! Now it's The end of July! I FINALLY got my credit from May on July 27th! Thanks to Wanda at credit customer service! Trudy from credit service has followed up with me. Now to get my interest charge credit. If you shop here make sure the salesperson knows what they are doing with the cash register! The collection of furniture was excellent and the sales representative and the sales manager were good. It was the customer service from billing that was terrible. They charged my credit card 6 times in 48 hours and claimed that it was their way of ensuring that the credit card was not used for any other purchase until furniture was delivered. It did not even make sense and they wanted me to call my credit card and ask them to keep reauthorizing. Again did not make sense. Spent so far 10 hours in resolving the issue but we haven't made much of a head way. Very disappointed. read more

J. at the Southdale Furniture Gallery was terrible - we waited for more than 2 1/2 hours for her to write up our order and she then told us to come back another day later in the week when she was next scheduled. Another salesperson overheard and was shocked that we had been waiting so long - she immediately found another salesperson to write up our order and was very apologetic that we were ignored for so long. The next salesperson had our order placed within a matter of minutes and we were on our way. The two love seats we ordered arrived about 4 weeks ahead of the promise date and the white glove delivery crew was absolutely fantastic - professional, polite and very efficient! They have really bad customer service. One thing to keep in mind is that you cannot pick up any furniture (even things that would fit in a compact car), it must be delivered by their service. We were having an ottoman delivered and the first time they delivered it was the wrong color. When the correct color was finally available 2 months later, they arrived 6 hours after the 2 hour delivery window they provided. When we called customer service, they were incredibly rude and somehow decided it was our fault that their delivery wasn't on schedule.
