I don't shop here too often but when I do, it's always been a good experience. The place is clean and the staff are nice. Everything is very professional like most Macys. Most of the time when I visit this place, its always when there is a sale going on. Love the sale price. Always buy a bunch of stuff. I never pay retail because why would I want to pay more than I need. The prices are atrocious when not on sale but those 50% off tags really hit the sweet spot on the stuff they have. My normal shopping stores are Marshalls and TJ Maxx but I've been noticing that the prices there aren't too much of a bargain any more. This place is located in Roosevelt field. Nice store with multiple floors of clothes, handbags, shoes, jewelry, appliances, home furnishing, etc to choose from. They have a lot of sales which is always a plus. However, I had to give three stars for the atrocious dressing room situation I witnessed today (5/07/17) on the women's dress floor. First of all it was so hot on the floor that everyone was complaining about it and it got to the point where we were sweating. Second, the dressing room was disgustingly dirty and there was no attendant watching it so there was a huge line due to people going into the dressing room with 20 items and squeezing their friends in the rooms with them. Third, the room was so dirty and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months....this suspicion was confirmed when I saw a flyer for an event they were holding that had happened in FEBRUARY still hanging in the dressing room on the wall. Just a few short days ago, I wrote on the Herald Square page that my local Macy's was infested with barbaric employees and consumers alike, but tonight's visit gave me some new hope, but hardly enough to give 5 stars. Well, there are still barbaric consumers, but the employees are getting a little bit friendlier. One thing I have to complain about is the returns policy. I had to return a Guess? shirt I got for my birthday a few months ago, but because I waited too long, it came up as $0.01, and returning a Lacoste* shirt came up as $29.99, even though I used the Macy's card it was paid for with, which showed it to be a heck of alot more. However, our cashier, Maniza, was an absolute doll. She put through an extra coupon discount along with my meager return price, and as a result, almost $50 was saved. She gets props for working on through Macy's crap-olla computer system. OK Macy's, you haven't lost me just yet. *NEVER buy Lacoste at Macy's, they have weird policies on returns and exchanges. read more

I got a quality pair of shoes here at a great price, but not without enduring a horrific shopping experience first. It was an early Sunday afternoon, but might as well have been the day before Christmas. This place was packed. Because it's in the mall, loads of people were crowded in with food, drinks, screaming kids, etc. The shoe area was a mess. On approach, I thought it would have been a better idea to just go home. I would never have ventured in if I had not tried to buy the shoes online and failed (out of stock everywhere else). Macy's had the best web price (but $10 shipping - no thanks) and the stock checker said they were available in-store in Garden City, so off I trudged to face the horrors of what has become of Roosevelt Field Mall. I say this with some sadness as RF used to be a great mall. Quiet, classy, up-market, clean, airy and an overall pleasant experience. Just replace those adjectives with antonyms and that's what this mall is like today. My visit started off rocky. Apart from the crowds and the messy shoe area, it was about 300 degrees in there. I spoke to two employees on the floor who pretty much ignored me. Then I passed through the herds of shoppers, dodging flying shoes and McDonald's wrappers, towards the checkout and managed to find one helpful sales assistant. It took a while to get the shoes brought out from the stock room, but he was patient and even got a couples more pairs out for me when the first two (!) were defective. He offered 10% off if there were defects on the pair I wanted (in the end, they were ok), plus noted that if the shoes were cheaper online or in-store, I'd get the cheapest advertised price. This was actually a relief because I thought I might have to fight for that when the box was marked full retail price. I also brought a 20% coupon that I had printed at home. Again, no problem. So, with some much appreciated help, I got there in the end. Honestly, the store has potential, like a fairly good selection of shoe brands that you can't find in other department stores. But it's an obstacle course at best and a zoo at worst. I spend so much time there dodging other customers, running away from the stinking perfume counter, and dealing with generally discourteous staff, that I probably only visit once every couple of years. Not to mention it's usually prohibitively expensive, which made my shoe bargain worth the wait - but only just! I have to reiterate for those who remember the Roosevelt Field of yesteryear: you used to be able to hear a pin drop in this Macy's even on a busy Saturday. The clientele has obviously evolved into ... something. The only reason this Macy's doesn't get 1 star is because of the help I received from one part-time shoe department sales assistant. I felt bad that I could just leave and he had to keep working there. For those who want to blame the store management for the state of the messy shoe department, I would agree, but I can also say that employees were chasing around after customers trying to stem the tide of destruction and put the shoes back on the shelves. It was like trying to dam a river with a band-aid. Even the helpful assistant who I was talking with admitted that he could not believe why customers would want to shop in a place that was a mess and why they so readily contribute to it looking that way. People were literally just dropping and throwing stuff on the floor and walking away or letting their kids do the same. He even wished more people would complain about the bad service. I guess we do plenty of complaining on Yelp, but not in person where it counts. I'm glad I got a good deal, but I will continue to avoid this Macy's like the plague, along with most of the mall on weekends. read more

I have bought a few things here over the last couple of years and the store is really a hit or miss with selection and customer service. A majority of the time I feel like I am an inconvenience to the employees working there, but every once in a while I find the really great employee that keeps me coming back. The last time I was in Macy's, I had some of their coupons with me. I spent considerable time selecting a dress and a shirt that I liked. I waited on line to pay. When it was my turn, I was told that I could not use either of the coupons because both items were reduced. I decided to relinquish the items and leave. Out of all the stores that I shop at, they have the trickiest coupons of all. Just look at the exclusions list! It's close to 20 lines of very fine print. I have decided not to shop there anymore. Also, when there is a clearance, the signs usually say that you can get _____ - _____ off, but the higher amount off, just doesn't exist. Snow is god's way of punishing people who plan to drive to do something gay. By golly, lucky me. I seem to have chosen THE day to be here, AND the hip time to show up: 10am on New Year's Eve. As throngs of customers stormed the retail Bastille, little old me (well, "little old I", if we're being technical) was just trying to redeem an ill-directed but well-intentioned giftcard. I needed a reliable but reasonably priced toaster oven, reeling on the heels of a recent culinary conflagration, and the folks of Macy's dungeon delivered. Unfortunately, the countless coupons currently available aren't applicable to electronics, as the helpful staff member informed me (though the long-expired Friends & Family discount would've been, albeit at a reduced rate of discount), but the 2 people I dealt with were jovial and knowledgeable. PS: It's a massive space that seems to skew predominantly towards the fairer sex, but I'd recommend checking out/getting rung up on the lower level if you're so inclined (and as averse to unnecessary waits as I tend to be, even if your descent will be inevitably plagued by passive/stationary escalator riders). So my mother and I went tonight to buy some jewelry in the fine selection area. The store was not busy what so ever, they had very few helpers at the ONE counter, and not one salesperson came over to even ask how are we or do we need help. I was planning to spend a few hundred dollars on their diamond necklaces and rings, that they had on sale but nope! Took my business elsewhere and spent $400 on 2 VERY beautiful rings, better designed and quality then what Macy's had. Yesterday Macy's had a wonderful sale with most item at 20% off. I decided to purchase some coach shoes after tracking down an associate I told the woman my size and waited to try on my shoes. When the associate brought me the shoe I requested they were not the size I request to which she did not tell me this. Once I tried on the shoe I notice they were to big and that's when I noticed the size was a size bigger than I requested. I brought this to the associates attention who then informed me they were out of my size. She than told me I had the option of ordering and paying for them in the store and can have them shipped to my home within 3 days, which I choose to do. I went to the cashier to place the order when the cashier informed me it would take 4 days to process and ship the order and another 3-6 business days to receive. Once given that information I declined a proceeded to walk away when I ran into the sales associate who asked me did I change mind about ordering the shoes, when I relayed the info to her that I received from the cashier she told the cashier she was given wrong info in a rude manner and I found it embarrassing to the cashier as I'm sure she did as well. I once again decided to order the shoes, when it came time to pay I was asked if I would like to pay with credit or debit to which I replied neither I'm paying cash. I was then told I could not pay cash for the order. Help me understand why I couldn't pay cash for an order I'm placing in the store to be shipped to my home considering Macy's is getting their money regardless. Needless to say I didn't order the shoes. Now on to the next, I went to the men's department to purchase some clothes for a Christmas gift. The section I was in was little disarrayed with clothes thrown all around but I guess that's to be excepted this time of year. I easily found what I was looking for despite the mess. I'm now online at the register so that I can make my purchase the cashier was extremely slow and spent more time talking to a co-worker than actually ringing up sales. Another cashier from another section of the store and directed customers to here line. The cashier named Slyvia was so helpful and nice as she ring up my merchandise she was talking to me and made me feel comfortable. I noticed one of the items rung up for the wrong price and I brought to her attention. She had to walk back over to the section of the store I was at previously to check the price I walked with her. Slyvia asked the cashier (the same one that was talking to her co-worker) what was the correct price on the jeans because it rung up one price and I had stated it was another price. The cashier just looked at her without responding and totally ignored her. So I asked her to which she ignored me as well. I took Slyvia over to the table where I got the jeans from and showed her the price. Once Slyvia saw that I was correct she informed the cashier to which she was again ignored. Smh Slyvia was finished ringing up my purchase with a smile on her face and she gave me a complete of gift boxes without being asked to do so which I was very thankful for. Thanks to Sylvia my experience at this store turned out pretty decent. read more

Went there this morning and was looking for an automatic watch for my wife. The first representative I spoke to sent me to the Fossil section. After waiting for about 5 to 10 min the representative I spoke to didn't really wanna help me and told me after having a brief look into the shelf to better go to the more fancy ones... My wife and I came here yesterday to pick up mascara in the beauty dept. It took her about a minute to pick out the one she wanted then we walked around looking for someone to ring us up. Couldnt find anybody even with the help of a nice lady working in the chanel area. She was apologetic that it took several minutes to find someone else. I appreciated that aspect. She eventually pointed us to 3 people standing in the middle of the beauty area so we walked toward them. It was a man in a navy suit, a latina dressed in black and a latino wearing bright glasses dressed in black. We asked the man in the suit if he could help us check out and he responds "i dont work here." The other 2 dressed in black (with macys tags so they definitely work there) didnt want to help us either. The latina just said "yeah he doesnt work here" smiled and walked away. We obviously needed help and the 2 employees chose to just walk away and continue their conversation with the man that doesnt work there and ignore us. Atrocious customer service in the beauty dept. I have been shopping with macys for years and they have always been pretty satisfied. I ordered my boyfriend $650 movado watch for Christmas, 8 weeks before Christmas. I am disgusted with the service Macy's customer service has provided me through their corporate phone service and through Roosevelt field. I work in customer service and I know how annoying most people can be and how most complain over nothing but I am not one of those people. I ordered the watch and a sweatshirt for him, 8 weeks prior to Christmas just to have his gifts out of the way. I got the sweatshirt 4-5 days( the shipping I chose at checkout) after I ordered, but no watch. I let it go and waited another 2 days hoping maybe since it was more on the expensive side it would be a little later.two days later- no watch. I called macys and they told me it's on it's way and to give them another 7-8 business days, I said ok no problem. Ten days later- no watch. I called macys again and asked if there was an issue and they reassured me that there was no issue and told me exactly how to track the package through ups. I tracked the package and it said it's on it's way. I waited another 7-8 business days and still no watch. I called macys a g a i n- they now promised me "it will be on your doorstep the 21st of December, we are terribly sorry for the inconvenience". The 22nd comes and still no watch. Now I am 3 days away from Christmas and I ordered this watch 8 weeks prior. I call again the 23rd and I demand that I go to the closest mall to me and take home a watch considering I paid $650 8 weeks ago and I still have nothing. The operator tells me they will contact Roosevelt field and refund my money as an immediate transfer and I can leave with the exact model watch because Roosevelt field had it in stock. After working 8am-8pm I run to the mall the day before Christmas eve and the movado counter tells me that's crazy what the operator told me and that I will not be leaving with a watch. I demanded my money be out back on my card as a full refund and left in a fury and went to Bloomingdales to buy my boyfriend the exact same watch- the customer service at Bloomingdales doesn't compare to Macy's. read more

Macy's has always been good at returning. Never had an issue until now. I wanted to return a bathing suit which was purchased as a gift. I had the receipt, unfortunately no tag was attached. I went up to the counter and the lady walked over and looked at me. I explained to her I wanted to return and I was looking to see if I had any tag. She then looked at me and said what are you trying to do. I told her I wanted to return. She said no i'm not taking this back. And threw the item and walked away. She then proceeded to laugh and talk to another associate while I was still standing there. I recently purchased a pair of diamond earrings the beginning of April. They told me it will be ready in two weeks. Now, it may just be me, but when someone tells me a date, i count on it, and trust them. I called on the Friday they said it would be ready, and I was told the jeweler was out of the country and it will be ready next Friday. I was told that story two weeks prior, and that the Jeweler would be back in the country from his vacation. So, i thought, ok one more week, not a big deal. I called again on Friday, they said, he's out of the country on vacation, he will be back next Friday. If I was told from the start I won't have my earrings for a month I would've been ok with it, or just taken my earrings to enjoy them, and come back to get screw backs. It just seems like know one has their story straight, know one communicates with each other, or they are just shooting out answers to customers because they don't know them self. it's really frustrating, and disappointing. The past few times I have shopped in the store for my young son I have been disappointed. There are no sales staff around and the one register that is open has a line of people. Mind you I go on weekday afternoons when it is less crowded. Today a cashier left with a line of people to announce that she had to use the restroom. She told people to go the other line if they wanted. I heard she did not come back until 20 minutes later. The woman on the other line was so slow. Another time I went the cashier did not understand the return policy. Things are always thrown all over the place. I called the store to complain and the supervisor in that department told me that they are having staffing problems all over the store. Gee in a bad economy they have a hard time attracting people. They must not be a great place to WORK OR SHOP. read more
