Came to Macy's to buy a pair of gloves. A simple task. Let's ignore the fact that the racks were in complete disarray - my chief complaint came from the customer service in the men's department. When we approached a salesman at a register he just began to close up the register, rather than talk to my wife and I using he words, he pointed in two different directions and grunted. We went to the first location he grunted at which was the shoe department. Gloves in hand, we walked to the shoe department to make the purchase. The shoe department salesman was taking care of a customer at the register. When we approached, he stopped speaking to the customers he was ringing up to address us and ask us if we were buying shoes, to which we responded that we were only buying these gloves in my hand. His response was immediate, "Shoes only - you have to go somewhere else." I protested that the other representative "told" us to come here. Again, he responded, "Shoes only." He gave us no further guidance. We stumbled around for a bit looking for another register when we ran into a saleswoman who pointed us to a register and when I brought up the issues experienced apologized on behalf of the store and department. She was the only pleasant experience in Macy's today. Walking to the register, I had an epiphany. I did not want to give my business, as miniscule as it might have been in the moment, to a department undeserving of it - one in which two-thirds of the individuals we dealt with were unprofessional, at best. So I threw the gloves on another disheveled and poorly presented display and walked out. Outside my wife made a point: it's better to shop at a store like Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus where the goods will be presented with pride and the customer service received will be stellar, regardless of the time of day, to such a degree that the higher prices become inconsequential. I am very disappointed in Macy's today. You have fallen hard over the years. read more

This ridiculous company made me pay up front for the second mattress and said they would return the money for the first one in the form of a check in 30 days. This is a very nice, clean, well stocked and huge store. They have a large assortment of designer clothing, not as large as some I've seen but adequate. There are tons of ballroom gowns and formal dresses and they're all expensive but the cashiers always seem to offer and apply a coupon up to 25% off when applicable. My cashier was very friendly and helpful. I've recently saved a good chunk of change on a few dresses at regular price but I always hit up that "last act" spot first. This is where you can find some really amazing stuff for 70% off and who doesn't love a bargain? Folks compliment my wardrobe daily and don't know that most of what they see me wearing came from the discounted rack at Macy's or Dillard's. Now, don't get me wrong; I do buy clothes at regular price, which isn't a thang either. I'm a bargain shopper and will check out Marshall's and those liquidation stores from time to time too. My fiancé and I came looking for suits for his groomsmen for our wedding and asked a guy working in the mens suit department for help and he seemed very hesitant to help us and went back and forth between the register and coming back and forth saying "give me 5 minutes". We then asked what the price of the vest included in the set was and he told my brother "its on the sign." We then asked if it comes with the set he said most likely it won't come with it. So we asked "why is it on the sign? That's very misleading to customers" and he walked away. My brother went to the register to ask for the manager and the manager asked "what is the problem?" He shook his head and brushed my brother off. The associate said he didn't help my brother because he was rude and told my brother to have some class and argued back and forth with him. Who does this to a customer? Macy's needs to reconsider and diligently select who they are hiring. The customer service here was splendid; they made me feel welcomed and happy to shop! Their newer clothes on the mannequins were obviously not on sale as it is in season and still in style. I had my eye on a Tommy Hilfiger navy equestrian coat but the price tag made me choke...so i had to put it back :(( There are messy sales racks in the wee back of the store with as much as 70% off...but the clothes are usually too big, too weird looking or just not my taste... I only shop here when I need a gift for little kids. Or if I don't feel like going to the MAC store. I used to shop here for more things but overtime the store is always a hot mess. We went to the Roosevelt Field Mall Thanksgiving week while staying in Long Island and had a great experience, some say here its the best Mall on the Island, I don't know about that as we haven't been to many others but we certainly found it as large as our local Malls here in California and all the family had a great time. We found the Macy's well stocked, a lot of different styles compared to California (different weather of course) there was no shortage of deals too. The interconnecting Mall had no shortage of great stores and its very large. If you're not from Long Island and visiting, then this is the Mall to hit for a wide selection of stores to kill a few hours of shopping. Our teenagers had fun too. read more

I got some really beautiful INC tops on sale this weekend & am so ready to look amazing at school!! This year, I'm going to be the teacher who is dressed to impress!! I'm also elated at how I went from a 1-2x to a 0x, XL!!! The right lifestyle changes really helps!!! Unlike the last review, I will review this place for what it is and not from a past work experience. I mean this is yelp, not "so how was your last job?" This is the best Macy's in my opinion in the New York area. I have been to the Macy's in SI, Brooklyn and the city. All of them lose stars for various reasons. This location though has always been a pleasant experience for me and its in the best mall in New York, Roosevelt Field. Definitely worth checking out. Good: Bought a nice dress there the other day and was surprised to learn that the dress I bought had a huge discount on it. Went in thinking the dress was $70 and came out with it being $17. Can't ask for better than that The Bad: THE WOMENS DRESSING ROOM IS DIRTY! For a Macys, an expensive dept store that can be seen all over the US, I'm surprised that the dressing room looked the way it did. It looks a room in a warehouse, with unkept floors that you'd probably see in an airplane hanger. I literally had to stand on my own shoes and tried my best to change while still standing on my stuff just so I wouldnt have to touch the floor. They really need to redo that dressing room. It's like they didn't even try to make it look nice. Their womens clothing section is also pretty unorganized. read more

Why oh why do they crank up the heat so high in this Macy's location? During the holidays with mobs of last minute shoppers I would be advisable to leave the heat low or even off. This Macy's location is otherwise ok. They have a wide selection of clothes to choose from. I love their sale racks and I can usually find something that I love for at least 50% off which makes me happy. The second floor has a few racks like this. The other sections of the store are good. Some lines which are expected during the holidays. I usually take time and look for registers that are open with shorter lines. Yesterday I ventured down to the cellar for a shorter line. There were a few registers open down there which was good. read more

It is even worst in the holiday season! They still have the problem where there are many empty registers and not enough employees. They have some employees that are only trained to fold clothes and do not know how to use a register! Macys should train all their employees how to use a register and move the lines along. I'm only writing this review because of the sales associate. I needed a pair of boots and had a gift card for Macy's so I said why not. It was very busy in there and they seemed short staffed because of the lack of assistance. There was only one associate Mohana who seemed to care about getting the customers helped. Macys.com will soon be out of business. Nov11th I placed an order for men's shirts. The email order confirmation showed they were shipping it to an incorrect address that I definitely did not enter. They could not cancel the order instead they had to ship it and then have UPS return it to themselves. Then they did not refund me even they checked in the return. Then they charged me an additional $27 on Nov 13 for some unknown reason. I made 1 phone call per week for 4 weeks and still haven't received my refund. read more

This Macy's never ceases to disappoint me. After the most annoying and stressful visit I had yesterday I feel like it was my duty to forewarn people. First of all yes, it is a busy holiday season. However that doesn't mean it's acceptable to put people through absolute hell. The entire store is a mess. Clothes all over the floor. Thrown all over the place. Nothing but new and incompetent cashiers with ridiculously long lines. I waited on the Juniors section line for approximately 25 minutes to purchase 2 items!!! 25 minutes is unacceptable! I feel like a requirement of their cashiers is that you are completely unqualified and that you move at tortoise speed. What a nightmare. But it gets worse. I go downstairs in the kitchen section and I decide to buy a toaster oven for my new apartment and I have Macy's money I acquired from online purchases (their failed attempt at trying to be like Kohls with the Kohls cash). I waited on line for another 20 minutes and here's where my headache ensued. The cashiers were both equally incompetent and unqualified. Neither of them knew how to apply the Macy's money and I was standing there for over 30 minutes with these fools. I even left the basement and went upstairs to sign into my Macy's account to screen shot the gift cards that they were saying wasn't in my Macy's wallet connected to my Macy's credit card. I came back down and they still couldn't figure it out. The older woman kept calling managers and no one answered any of her calls. How wonderful. She calls the executive office upstairs and then tells me that I need to go upstairs to the 3rd floor executive office, email them my Macy's money so they can print it out and then come back downstairs to the basement to make my purchase. In less words I said this is f*cking ridiculous and walked the hell out! I have never been so pissed off. Macy's you have won the record. The most ridiculous experience I've had here. This one takes the cake and if I wasn't with my daughter I probably would have hopped over the counter. Yes Macy's you have managed to lose this customer. I think that the people who work here are getting paid based on sales, and maybe that's what makes them so nice and helpful. The prices, a lot depend on when you are coming! Could not believe the horrible customer service I witnessed. A woman asked for help finding a shoe, that she had checked the website for. A man that was also helping two other people asked a woman, his coworker, to help him. His coworker said she can't because she is busy!!! This has been my favorite Macy's to go to, I actually live closer to the Macy's in Valley Stream but I find that this Macy's Roosevelt Field has a better selection and friendlier people working there. Specifically the cashier Lisa in the Mens department was very helpful when I was trying to locate a couple of things, she actually left the register help me find what I was looking for, as a platinum star member these are the kind of employees that keep me going back to that location. read more

I dont come to this Macys that often but my mom and I ventured to this one for Black Friday and stook on the line for about 20 minutes until midnight when they opened the doors. It was an exciting night for people to run and grab stuff like it was the last item they would be able to ever get in their life. The store was clean and they had sales galore. Big store with a lot of selection. Well organized and clean- it's not like merchandise is just thrown everywhere. The customer service at jewelry was attentive and helpful- suits however: the exact opposite. Everytime I asked a question the guy basically mumbled and pointed at a rack of suits. Then when another sales person tried to help me e basically told her to GTFO since he wanted the commission- if he wanted the commission then do something for it. Despite finding nice suits at an awesome sales price I left. There was no way I was giving this guy the satisfaction of the sale. Headed to Manhasset and the experience buying a suit was the opposite. I am not wearing a suit as I type this though. read more

Nancy in the bar111 section who was working on 10/3/14 is amazing! I literally live in Macy's and never have I had someone really "help" me. Yes help in pointing in direction of where the item might be, but never take the time to find the item for me, bring it to the fitting room. Look on the computer to find it in another store and have it actually shipped to my house so I don't have to bounce around to other stores. &&&&& with a HUGE smile on her face! This place is always my go to place to get gifts for the family, but today we had a terrible experience with JUDY at the women's jewelry on the first floor. She had a bad attitude, we asked for her for help and she pointed at the rings and walked away then when we wanted to look at some of the rings we asked the manager to help she send JUDY our way and she came back to us with an even more rude and disrespectful attitude. So I walk into macys looking for some men's cologne trying to get myself an attractive lure for one future lucky lady haha. Anywho the young lady who assisted me picked out 4 different fragrances for me to try and they all smelled the same. To further add to my disappointment I could barely smell the fragrance on the little paper she sprayed on. I was confused like is my nose broken? do I need a nose job or something? 4 different dior fragrances and I could bareley get a scent off that piece of paper. I litterally had to stick the paper in my nostrils just to get a good wiff. The funny part was she looked at me like I was insane in the membrane. But I give kudos to the young woman she was polite and kept her composure during my sillyness. Anywho I was disappointed in the dior fragrances and asked to look around on my own I tried this Versace one and it took me into a dream with flowers in a garden with something that I liken to nice elevator music playing in the background...basically it smelt nice, so, I bought it and now cant wait to get out and try it on some ladies. I am actually sitting in macy's right now on the first floor by the mens fitting room and I'm highly annoyed and offended. The employees at the register (two young girls) are carrying on a personal conversation where they are continuously cursing and being inappropriate. They are speaking about work matters and complaining about there schedule and work very loudly. After a guest walked away they called her crazy out loud for the other guest to hear. They are rude and when they were asked by another employee to assist in the fitting room they pretended they didn't know what she was talking about and carried on with their conversation. Employee gave me a lot of attitude for explaining my frustration with the checkout process while we were attempting to order me a coat. Their system glitched three times so we had to keep reentering my info before we were moved to another computer. Thats when I said maybe I should order a different color, that the item might be out of stock and that it's frustrating reentering info so many times. He then gave me attitude and acted like he was blessing me by helping me. As if. He then found out the item was out of stock, like I suggested, and when he asked if we wanted to get another color, I said no and walked away. So rude.
