I visited here to try to locate some items for a birthday party tonight. They have a Backstage here but I was not able to find much in the style that I wanted. They have a horrible clothing racks situation here. The blouses are all mixed up in different sizes and crammed onto the racks. Same with the pants, skirts, dresses. For example, if you want to just shop medium tops, you will find all sizes crammed into one rack, not good. I did notice that they have 2 young men working to restock the racks. They are just throwing the clothes in any order back onto the racks. After 45 mins of searching and trying to find items, I just got a couple things and left. Do better Macys Backstage. On the way out I spotted some really good deals on casual jeans menswear and summer menswear! This is in the regular side of the store, not the Backstage side. read more

The customer service lady assigned this evening 8 pm doesn't look well. Hermie is her name. She keeps on sniffing and touching her nose with her bare hands. When she asked for my return receipt, I was almost reluctant to take it back. She doesn't look good at all. She needs to go home. She is not happy. She didn't help Me with exchanging my shoes that I wanted for a smaller size. She said the price went up. She's unlike the customer service staff I dealt with in the past who went above and beyond to exchange the products I bought and with a cheerful face no matter how busy. Tonight wasn't even busy. I have been shopping at Macy's for over 2 decades. Never any issues on July 2024 I decided to go ahead and open up a credit card with them. Avoid this at all cost. They create a billing cycle where basically your card always has debt. Which if you don't take care of in time will incur a $35 fee. The problem is that I like to pay off my credit card balance off every month to not accrue interest. I walk in and ask to pay off my full balance. They say it's 180 and some cents. Ok no problem I pay it. After that I go about my way. Sometime in October I decided to go ahead and open what I assumed was just junk mail from Macy's. So I go ahead and see that I had a debt of 67 cents on my balance and had acquired 2 months of fees and interest. Totaling around $70. This of course was very upsetting since I can clearly see a predatory scam in place. I head back to macy's. The manager can't do anything about it and puts me on the phone for 40 minutes. They wave 1 interest charge but I still have to pay the remaining balance from the 67 cents. I pay it and tell them to cancel my card I am never shopping here again. I then went to various macy's and asked to check my balance. All saying $0.00 ok good so I assume the matter is closed. I go to my mailbox and see on December another Macy's letter. Saying I owe $2.00 this is too much. Again time to go back and argue about their ridiculous charges. I pay the $2.00 and tell them to leave me alone. Close my account. I will never buy anything from you guys. They promise to close it. With fewer and fewer stores being able to handle the loss of customers due to e-commerce you would think they would try harder to keep customers. But no, Macy's goes about doing these little nickel and dime tactics to get money from the few customers they have left. read more

Went looking for a new couch with my mom the other day and when my mom was sitting on a couch and looking over the pricing, one of the service ladies told her "only five more minutes to look please". What does that mean?? She was very rude when saying this as well and when we said we were looking around for a couch, the lady waved us off and repeated five minutes. The taller gal, working in the shoe department, around 2pm, yesterday, was not attentive, or helpful. We are 2 women, with disabilities, that required a normal amount of assistance and she wasn't accommodating. I went up to register, handed her the shoe from the display, so she could find the other shoe in the back, a while later I saw her doing some kind of inventory in the displayed shoe's, when I asked her what happened, she said she had not looked for shoe yet, then she goes to find the shoe, she finally comes out brings us a shoe, but leaves the shoe I gave her at register, bringing us one single boxed shoe, I had to limp back to the register to get the other shoe, as it's necessary to try both shoes on together. The worse issue is that she wasn't apologetic at all. I was in pain, limping, helping my sister in law, that was using a walker. We decided to buy the shoes, and she rung us up, she knew I was upset and she still didn't apologize for forgetting us, or for the lack of doing her role appropriately. I wasn't certain if she was on her cellphone. My motto as a retired RN, is "if you choose to do a job you prepared to interview, then do the job right! " read more

Terrible experience! My mom and dad paid 2k for a small leather couch with mechanical reclining. After 6 months it broke - they were told they can return it and get 600 for it or they can select another couch. They finally find a couch they want and are told it will come in 2 weeks so they wait and wait and then are told "never mind, it's not available". The experience has been just terrible for them. Do yourself a favor and go to a store that specializes in furniture sales, or anywhere besides Macy's. read more

I can't stand this Macy's location. The cosmetics at this Macy's location are never stocked, so many shoplifters with packages open and the makeup missing. Its super hard trying to find merchandise here. Any mascaras or eyebrow pencils you need in brown or black forget it, they go fast because there's such a huge Hispanic community in this area. People take it all really quick (in bulk) especially people from across the border. The employees don't even help you. The employees assigned to the Cosmetics area are always huddled together gossiping in Spanish instead of helping customers. Therefore, it doesn't surprise me that there's so much theft because these ladies don't even pay attention. It's funny how you can never find anybody at a register but you can find them all gathered together talking about their "chisme". There's one particular girl who works at the cosmetics Department who is realllyyy bad, she never helps you. She is usually around the Anastasia Cosmetics area. Her name is Lorena, a girl with super long hair. Any question you ask her about a particular cosmetic she says she doesn't know. How much is this item? "I don't know." Do you know if these are going to come in soon? "I don't know." Do you know if they carry this in dark brown? "I don't know." What exactly does this Lorena girl get paid for, not knowing?! More recently I went in looking for a particular color eyebrow pencil. Of course I didn't find it and had to go within alternative. That Lorena girl was gossiping with a co-worker in front of me at the register. She said she would charge me and another lady "in a minute". She took 15 minutes talking about her personal life, what she did that weekend and how she applies her makeup to her coworker, totally ignoring that she had a line forming behind her. When we tried to interject she told us to go to the perfume counter to have them ring me up. The perfume lady sent me back to her. Two lazy employees just ping-ponging the customers to another register because they didn't want to work. Me and another customer just walked away. So darn rude! I've been coming to this location for years and it's not getting better, it's getting worse. It's sad that there's never any manager on the floor to complain to. I'm to the point of contacting Macy's corporate because this nonsense is ridiculous. Anyway, in a nutshell stay away from this National City Plaza Bonita Macy's location. The customer service is awful, never seen anything like it in any other Macy's I've gone to. read more

I ordered an Macy's E-Gift card for a graduation gift on May 26th, 22. On May 29th the recipient tried to redeem it at a Macy's store and it wouldn't work. She tried again to redeem it online to no avail. In store customer service were unable to assist her and told her that the issuer needed to contact customer support via phone. I called on May 29th and requested a credit on my account and was told it would take 10 business days in order to process. 14 days later I check my account and the charge is still there. June 20th, I call once again and request a credit. I'm assured that the amount will be credited in 10 business days. I ask for an email in order to document the call and am told that they cannot send emails, however, she'll note my account in case I have to call again. After over a month, today is July 14th, I check my account and find that it's credited for the $125, however, the credit was applied from my bank account via AutoPay! I again, 3rd call, call and spend 49 minutes arguing with a person who insists on sending me a physical gift card, which I do NOT want at this point, instead of issuing me a REFUND check or credit back to my bank. I ask her THREE times to speak with a manager. I'm placed on hold for at least 12 minutes and she finally comes back and says that all supervisors are busy and that I'll receive a callback in 20 minutes. I finally get a callback and am ensured that the charge will first, be credited back to my Macy's account, then credited back to my bank. They ensured me a follow up phone call as they do not have the ability to send emails. Whatever happened to customer service? Macy's is now just a shadow of the business that it once was and I can assure you that it's NOT Amazon's fault. read more

I haven't been to the Bonita Plaza mall in a few years. The improvements management has added are a sight to see and very much needed. The Macy's has always been an anchor store for the Southbay area of San Diego County. Macy's continues to survive, still offering a clean environment to shop and people watch. Most people are wearing masks regardless of being vaccinated. Staff are friendly and ask you if you need assistance. I noticed other retail stores have kiosks inside the Macy's such as Sunglass Hut and Lens Crafter, an interesting partnership with this store. Parking is very accessible around the perimeter and the location has always been convenient compared to other larger malls in the San Diego vicinity. It's a great alternative vs driving to Mission Valley or UTC. read more

Only time I come here is to buy some upper end cologne. I made the mistake of buying cologne online and they are usually knock offs of the original. Prices are a bit more expensive than online, but you are going to get the original cologne. Recently I bought the Versace cologne. They usually have cologne in a combo with some shower gel and after shave. The one I bought came with some shower gel. Like most Macy's its hard to find clothes my size here. So I rarely shop around here. This Macys is rarely crowded. Parking is easy and plenty. Inside its very clean and not cluttered. The employees are very kind and helpful, especially the employees working in the mens cologne section. read more

Came here to look around. I have a Macy's credit card and that can be dangerous for me. I can easily spend so much money but luckily they have discounts. I purchased a Shopkins toy for my daughter, a pink tan top that was reduced to $2.89 for my daughter, and Godiva chocolate bars that was buy one get one half off. I couldn't resist the chocolates. I got milk chocolate with almonds and a dark raspberry chocolate! Yum! The Shopkins toy was around $14.00. My daughter was happy and excited. Total came out to $25.00. The lady who was working the register near the kids department was super sweet and nice. She made conversation which is always nice. She gave me another coupon. If you spend $50, you get $10 off. It has it's advantages by having a Macy's credit card. I managed to find some cool stuff. I will have to come back. This store isn't as busy on the weekdays than on the weekends. read more

This goes for the Michael Kors WATCH Employees. Today I was shopping with my Mom and we were standing by the Michael Kors stand for 10 minutes, waiting for the tall Asian lady to assist us since the other employee was ringing someone up. When she finished with the Customer she looked and came towards us and told us you need to sign up on the list. I guess there's a service list but we didn't know because there's no sign that we have to. Then I decided to call and the same employee  pick up the phone and I told her I would like to speak to a manager instead of her telling me to hold on she hang the phone. Really? Macy's? Darn you one day sale! Stopped in to grab my honey a pair of shoes she had been eyeing up and walked out with 3 huge bags and a huge box with a handle. In the men's shoe department we met an extremely helpful woman and I neglected to get her name. She was very helpful though and made sure we had everything we needed and kept checking on us. Then we headed to the kitchen section, where we found a huge clearance table and Mary Jane from the mattress department. Thanks to Mary Jane, we spent way too much money... and saved even more! She made it way too easy by coming back and collecting our finds ever few minutes causing us to move freely from one area to the next gathering more goodies as she pointed out other things we might like. Quite the sales woman! Keep up the good work Mary Jane! Our kitchen is fully stocked and we're loving all our new goodies! read more

-Located inside the mall. I like this store because is on one corner of the mall which is good and bad. There is a lot of parking near by and you never seem have run into problems when finding an open spot to park. -The store is sometimes well organized and sometimes it is a disaster. I've been coming here since I was in junior high(I'm currently 30) and it has been remodeled a lot. It does look much nicer and cleaner. -You can find good sales and clearance items if you know what you are looking for and the season. read more

Found out that it was final sale and the person told me I can't return it ...it was raining outside so I asked him for a bag and he refused to give it to me ...he was so spiteful and condescending the way he spoke to me .. then I asked him to write an amount on the gift card .and he outrightly refused to write it ..saying he din have a marker when I saw the marker in front of me ..I am never gonna shop at Macys again !!! Went back here because I have no choice. Holiday season is driving me bonkers. The restrooms are still unclean. The escalator is still broke. Purchased a bed from this Macy's salesperson was cool, however this rating is because of the labor THEY provide. When you purchase the bed they have to deliver it and they have to charge you for it (also includes labor of installing the bed) which i did not care because the price was fair! I wasn't home to watch them install the bed the second time, first time they messed up a tread in a bolt so the bed would be incomplete and i was there. The second time my mom watched over them no big deal. After about 3 weeks of owning the bed is when i found the issue. Theres space under my bed and one morning as i was doing my bed one of my feet kinda goes under and i felt a cold sharp object and i look down to see what it is.... guess what the Macy's laborer left under my bed? (: a damn opened up box cutter with the blade opened up, AND i got suspicious so i looked around the bed to see if there's anything else and well.... they left some tools and didn't even finish screwing in the bolts that hold my bed together. Its nice i got about $40 worth of free tools but what pissed me off was the fact that i could've stabbed my toes and who would be to blame? Who do i yell at? Later, not the same salesperson, i called and told them and they said "why didn't you say anything after they installed it?". Pathetic. Watch out for the labor work if you ever get it, they will wither fuck up the first time or half ass their work and leave you pissed. Another note to add first time the workers came they said "sorry man we messed up the bolt...yada yada.... macy's makes us work fast bc we're on a time schedule and if we don't meet their goals we're screwed and this is my first install with them" i realized how fast they were working which is cool but you work fast you're gonna mess up or miss something, even tho that did happen with the bolt. 12-16-17. Between 10-11:00am: For the first time ever at a macys shoe department, I received a very great service. Diana was the best! My auntie and I are having a hard time finding her shoe size and Diana was very helpful. I felt bad that I had to ask her few times for different shoe styles and sizes, yet she was friendly and nice the entire time. She also accomodated my aunt's request and had to go out of her way to give my auntie a macys paper bag and grab it from other department as the shoe dept ran out of them. Very pleased with the customer service we received. Very rare you get a very helpful and cheerful employee like that at macys shoe dept. To Macys: Keep her! Keep her at all cost! To be honest, I wouldn't even give this store a star. I have been here a few times, and I have consistently received bad service, or no service. Everytime I walk in, the store is a huge, huge mess. The people who shop there trash it. Fine, whatever. But the sales associates aren't doing anything but talking about their boyfriend/girlfriend dramas with each other. PICK UP THOSE CLOTHES. No wonder the merchandise looks so junky. It's been trampled on a few times. And most of the merchandise looks like it came from a cruise ship or hotel boutique. A lot of pastel polo shirts, funky and flowy floral dresses, straw hats. Generic looking and bland, in the worst way possible. Also, the setup of the store is kind of strange. It doesn't have a good, logical flow. Men's fragrances is plopped in the middle of women's clothing, women's shoes has overflowed into handbags and accessories, which in turn has overflowed into women's clothing. Good luck trying to shop if you're in a wheelchair or have a baby stroller. The fixtures are so crowded together--as if ADA standards didn't exist. read more

This review is mostly for the women's shoe department. And for any of you who know me, shoe shopping is a spiritual event, not to be taken lightly, and only the most serious, dedicated and passionate of people should sell shoes. With that said, this shoe department SUCKS! There was none of the reverence held for the art of shoe shopping found here. It was if they recruited from the disgruntled postal service department. First, I don't have a poker face when it comes to shoe shopping. If I see something I like, you can read my face like a kid in a candy shop. You know you are about to make your commission goal for the month. This woman missed this! I walked in, made a bee line for the sale shoe rack and immediately picked 4 pair of shoes! You'd of thought Brad Pitt had just proposed to me I was smiling so big. I sat down with my selections, tried one on at a time and the grin got larger and larger. I was determined to buy every one of those shoes. I was like a shark that smelled blood in the water. If this women knew what she was doing, she could have put anything in front of me and I probably would have bought it. But nooooooooooooooo! I walked out with 2 pair of shoes! Needless to say, this department is sorely in need of an overhaul. They couldn't find the match for 2 pair of the shoes I liked. Then another pair had both left shoes. I don't know, maybe they don't make commission on shoes here. Maybe the Department Manager was trained at the cafes in Europe. Get'im in and out, either way we get our money. But whatever the case, this shoe department, ne this store, should only be used in a pinch. read more

This is for the jewelry section. I wish Yelp had the option to give 0 stars. I went in wanting to purchase a gold necklace for my dad since it was his birthday and the service was just downhill since the incompetent ladies at the front counter started to assist me. First of all, when they were showing me the jewelry I did not feel welcome at all, the lady gave us this vibe that we were going to steal from her. Granted, I was in my gym clothes since I came straight from the gym had I worn something more formal maybe it would've been different but who wears clothes like that in this area, come on it's Plaza Bonita. I was also looking for a specific necklace I had seen online and it had said ready for pickup tomorrow, but I assumed it was tomorrow because I had come in maybe an hour before they closed so maybe it didn't give them enough time to get it ready so I figured I'd walk in and buy it in person. Showed the lady the specific one on my phone and she takes one look at it and says, "no, we don't have it," she didn't even bother trying to look it up in the system or even attempt to help me look through the jewelry. I also asked why does it say available tomorrow for pickup? All she said was no we don't carry it.... When she started to "help" me look for something else, the moment I said I'm not sure which one, she just closed the case and just walked away. I hope she gets fired. Went to JCPenney instead, got stellar service, and a nice gold necklace for my dad. I came in knowing service wasn't going to be good, but I wasn't expecting it to be terrible. Do yourself a favor and don't go to Macy's if you're in the market for some jewelry. read more

This review focuses on the Men's Dept. Reasons to go: 1) They sell Sanuks. If you don't have the time to wait on buying these awesome shoes online and waiting on shipping, then get satisfied NOW. They have a good selection to choose from and they aren't way marked up. 2) Cologne. Their selection is amazing and is the place to go if you need a bottle of something popular without waiting for online shipping or risking a broken bottle. 3) Dress shirts. I am an XL tall. These are hard to find but this place has plenty of them!!!! Reasons to avoid: 1) Mark up. Everything in the department is marked up. You are paying for the convenience of buying the desired product right then. Mitigate this by looking for their sales (that are usually unadvertised...ask an employee when they are coming up because they don't get paid enough to keep it a secret) and online coupons. 2) Sales associates. They seem to be undermanned and have a high turn around. When they are present, they are being tasked to do many things on a mental check list so helping the customer becomes a low priority. If you are like me, this isn't a big deal because you are a big boy and can find your own stuff. To some people this may be a turn off. read more

The customer service lacks tremendously in all ways that customer service should be delivered. The friendliest staff I've encountered here is probably the occasional perfume sample woman. She smiles and greets you wonderfully. Other than that, Macy's is a total fail in service. Their store lacks cleanliness, helpfulness, and friendliness. I would buy here if I were tremendously desperate for the item, or if my coupon is about to expire. read more

There's a reason why this location has less than 2 stars... Their customer service sucks! If you are the CEO or hiring manager at this store, please hire the correct employees.
