I have a shopper at this Macy's for over 14 years now. It's a huge store spanning over 3 floors. Excellent for purses, men's formal wear, shoes, watches, home goods and children clothing. I always had wonderful interactions with staff, let it be online pick up, returns or any other queries. Over the years I have bought many shirts, pair of shoes and even custom tailored suits. Having their credit card, I often get coupons and offers for shopping at this store. After our daughter arrived, we have been spending time in their children's clothing and toy sections. They have excellent collection of clothing brands for kids. Prices are decent too. Toys also have all popular categories and most of the time they have good sales or discounts on most of these toys. The Pandora line here is empty for the counter. There's a section for Toys 'R Us here, that's a first. The shoe section is busy, although not as chaotic as the rest of the plaza or before Christmas. I was shopping in the dresses department, and I noticed that most staff working there did not speak English, only Spanish. I noticed they were looking at me talking to each other in Spanish, I felt disrespected because it felt like they were antagonizing me. At the registers and in the fitting rooms are where I experienced this. What kind of place hires people that only speak Spanish, how do they expect customers to interact with them without feeling uncomfortable? When they interviewed them, I wonder if it was in Spanish only. Multiple people that I know are experiencing this same issue. We live in America, English should be a job requirement. read more

Always a go to when shopping for men's dress clothing. They always provide plenty of options as well as major markdowns. There is plenty of variety whether it's pants, suits, dress shirts, ties, or whatever your needs maybe. The dressing rooms lately have been a bit chaotic in the men's department but other than that no major complaints. To be honest, I've never in my life a Macy's this big, and it was. The selections looked endless, with the retail space looking like it didn't have an end. Although the selections are big, more variety would be great as a plus. Most of the inventory looked pretty full in each area while well-cleaned up in each area. It looked fairly packed in the store, considering it was Saturday, so moving around can be a bit of an obstacle for the most part. Especially with long lines at the registers, it would be great to see an improvement in that. The store may fit a lot of people, but having enough space is what counts. It is sad, but I do not believe that stores like Macy's are long for this world. They were amazing in their heyday, but over the past few years have gone down in quality trying to compete with an online marketplace... That being said, I love the face that this store still exists especially since I forget to buy my wife stuff until the last second! It is located inside the Westfield mall. Parking here at any time is always a nightmare!!!! So please be aware of that when coming here. The inside is ok. I do now know if it is the customers not caring about where stuff goes, or the employees not caring, or a mixture of both. The store really suffers because of this!!! Items are not just on the wrong racks, but completely wrong sections, sometimes floors... If you don't want something, please just give it to the cashier when you check out... It is so much easier to restock that way than going up and down all the aisles and figuring out what goes where. I recently came here for a watch recently. It was an ok experience... The salesperson helping me had difficulty locating the coach section of ladies watches, then had more difficulty physically finding the watch I wanted then had problems finding it in the system... It was a mess, but I did get the watch eventually lol! He was very friendly, but needed more training in that department... Not sure if he was new or not. Macys also really needs to update their POS system... It is super out dated... We were both on our phones looking up the SKU... Finally they need better signs or a map in all the entrances... Tis the season to cut Macy's a break - what with the parade, the two "miracle" movies and the "Believe" mantra that hardens my resolve to cut the online cord, get off my ass and shop in some semblance of real time holiday normalcy. I guess I'm just a sentimental fool. As I was strolling through the debris strewn mess of the Black Friday Macy's at Paramus Park, I was suddenly thunderstruck by a strong desire to put away my childish notions and apologize to my laptop. Why look for my size on display when the floor will do nicely. Merchandise strewn everywhere with no staff in sight and the human carnage of my fellow yuletide shoppers to warm my spirits. Do I even have to mention the screeching, constipated stylings of Mariah Carey on endless loop. Pure torture. I think I'll retire to my room, break out the Nat King Cole, order up the Miracle of Bezos Island on PPV and call it a very Silent Night. Two stars just for the hell of it. read more

I ordered a purse online for in-store pick up. I ordered it yesterday and the confirmation email says it will be held until August 20th. Today is August 14th and I received another email saying my order has been canceled for not picking up on time. I called the store to attempt to find out why my pick up was canceled, when I was supposed to have five days. The first woman I spoke to sounded like she couldn't care less. Then she transferred me to a woman at customer pick up who also had no interest in helping me. This is an understaffed, unhelpful and unorganized Macy's where it should be just the opposite in a large mall like GSP and its foot traffic. There were no sales associates around to help me pick out a work pant suit and I ran around in circles to hunt down someone to direct me to the suit tailor since there are no directory signs near the escalators anymore. Finally when I found someone, she said I'd have to go downstairs to the other end of the store in the mens section suits for a tailor. So, I had to pick out suits that I liked/thought fit, bring them downstairs and when it didn't fit, I had to go back upstairs and come back down to try it on for the tailor to see. Meanwhile, the men were being catered with sales associates picking out different sizes and bringing it to their fitting rooms. Macy's really needs to explain WHY there are NO sales associates helping women's suits or women's clothing at all. So ridiculous especially paying over $300 and yet getting no help, just frustration. However, the shoe department was just the opposite. I received full attention and help and tried on different heels and got them in about 10 minutes thanks to actual help from a sales associate. I would never come back here for clothing or especially professional suits because they are lacking in the number of associates and customer service. This review is for, "My Stylist, Ann Prashad" at Macys Garden State. I started seeing advertisements for "My Stylist @ Macys". At first I ignored the advertisements because my only thought was, "probably costs a fortune, actually having someone shop for you". After about a week or two (sick of what's in my closet) I figured, "let me give it a try" After all, Macys advertised it's a free service with no obligation to buy". Going in skeptical as nothing is ever really free, I scheduled an apt. Scheduling of appointment: Easy as 1,2,3. After about an email or two they handed me over to Ann at GSP. Communication with Ann: After I was handed over to Ann, she emailed me directly. She asked for sizes in all areas, tops, pants, skirts, dresses and shoes. Also for favorite/not favorite colors. Ann also asked for me to go on the site and make a list of pieces I liked so she could get an idea of my style. Day of appointment: Going in I was a bit nervous. I'm extremely picky with clothing and even expressed to Ann that I shop like a guy, "Only buy when I need for an event and even then I'm in and out because I just don't like shopping. Upon arrival, everything took place in her huge office with private fitting room. When I saw what she had picked I wasn't sure of it but still tried everything on. Some pieces were ok but others I absolutely LOVED!!! The best part was that the majority of the pieces she chose stuck with my preference,"clothing that all had something original about them" After trying on pieces I loved I became more and more excited about what was next. The amount of clothing she had for me was never ending!!!! Final thoughts: Best experience ever!!!!! I shopped without having to shop. I purchased a great assortment of clothing AND was able to use those coupons that Macys mails out. Ann picked out clothing that I would normally just walk by. Because of Ann, I learned a few things, 1) My true size 2) That I can tuck shirts in again and look great (it's been maybe more than five years since I've tucked in a shirt) and 3) how to clean out my closet from clothing I don't need ( I'm not telling you her secret, you'll have to see her yourself and ask!) I love this Macy's. All the employees I encountered are friendly, alert helpful and actually seemed like they wanted to be at work and liked their job. the store is very organized and very clean. there were some events going on on the cosmetic floor for and everyone was dressed up and having fun. I think that stores should be more upbeat and be kinder to customers as they are in this Macy's. I stopped by Shiseido and Linda took care of me. again another five star employee that Macy's has. She also made my experience enjoyable. I bought some cosmetics at Laura Mercier at the Blue Mercury counter. Karina helped me she was so friendly and a pleasure doing business with. she was helpful and I felt went out of her way to make sure I left with all the things on my list that I wanted. I bought three pairs of shoes and Tina was my sales person. she was amazing. The shoe apartment was packed and yet she consistently kept an eye on me to make sure that everything was going well. Note: I love love love the fact that Ivanka Trump is now selling her shoes at Macy's! I love her shoes and has been purchasing from her since she started. I will definitely continue to shop at Macy's now knowing the Trump shoe line is Here!! I find this Macy's to be different because in other stores the sales people feel like they're doing you a favor helping you in any of the departments I was in none of the employees behaved in this manner. I don't shop at Macy's often but I definitely would like to shop at this Macy's the next time I am in New Jersey. I have a sneaking suspicion that Macy's management knows what they're doing business wise but are clueless as to how to relate to their customers. The store is a plethora of confusion. Departments are organized by themes and "designers" (both real and contrived) which makes comparing items virtually impossible. I could literally find dress shirts in 12 different places. The staff is meh, unless of course you are looking to open up a Macy's charge account in which case they miraculously spring to life. I also have no idea why anyone would buy anything here at regular price. There's ALWAYS a spectacular one day sale with unbeatable deals that you will only be offered once, unless of course you happen to return the following Wednesday. Insulting to my intelligence. Their plethora of problems is confounded by close proximity to two flagships of merchandise and customer service, Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus. I can't help but draw comparisons, even though their price points are at least a few steps above Macy's. But that should affect product and merchandising, not staff. Macy's management needs to awaken to 2014 and realize that with the explosion of social media and pains in the asses like me critiquing them, they have to change to meet the times. I just tried to return a full price item that I bought in September and was told it has been longer than 30 days so can't get my money back even worse is that I had a receipt and I could not even get a credit because it's been 37 days since I purchased it. They said they made this change back in March. I've been shopping at Macy's my entire life and had no idea they made this change. I understand perhaps being more rigid in terms of getting your money back and making that 30 day guideline but how could they possibly not give you a credit? why wouldn't management want to keep you inside the store by giving you a credit that you may then spend more. Instead I walked away thinking I will never come back. there is just no reason to shop at the Macy's store anymore. They have forced us to just do our shopping online. Sad. Their selection is weak now, and the service has never been very good. Gone are the days of big department stores that gives customers good service and designer selections. This is for the Estee Lauder in Macys. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE I came to buy a lighter foundation and this old caucasian associate convinced me to take my foundation off to apply the new one. I told her just the chin but took everything off and then applied bronzer as setting powder after i told her i was done. she also took off my eyebrow makeup and when i told her NOT TO. Then when i paid for the lighter foundation the cashier told me if you apply for a macys card you get 20% off--i told her i already had one and when i was about to go through i asked do i still get the discount--she said no. Lady at customer service was incredibly rude. I stepped up in line and she told me to wait And that I need to step back. And then when they came back she said the lady is calling me in a rude tone. This does not sound like a big deal but how she was so nice to the people Ahead of me made me think she was a nice person and really highlights that she is being rude too me. Useful tip: Men's department instituted a 1 year limit on their return policy recently. Useful tip #2: Immediately check to make sure the sales rep doesn't package the wrong stuff. I just came back home from the Garden State Plaza, and I'm extremely irritated and disappointed. They packaged me the wrong separates (colors mismatched) for my suit which I dropped a sizable sum of money for. Their mistake. Mine was not returning it fast enough due to RL reasons. I had to travel overseas and came back to try returning a suit I never got to wear. They wouldn't let me trade the pants because it was years since I brought the suit even though I had the receipt to prove I purchased it at their shop. Came here one day after work in scrubs for a quick shop. After about 10-15 minutes, a sale associate with blue eyeshadow asked if I needed help. I told her I was just looking around and thanked her. Then I noticed her just following me stations to stations coincidentally to rearrange the stuffs. I started feeling a bit uncomfortable like I was being watched, but I thought she was probably just doing her job. Few minutes later she came up to me ask to keep the items I was holding in my hands at the register. I felt like I should just pay and go. Then she told me I had no discounts. I was a bit surprised because I wasn't asking for any.... I just said it was ok because the stuffs I was buying were already good deal.
