Just went to Macy's this week and it's almost impossible to find any staff or a place to pay! There are just a few places to pay, with long lines of people complaining that there is no place to pay. I have been coming here for years. The best deals are their one day sales and the use of their coupons (20%, $5, $10 off, etc.). I came here to look for a birthday gift for a family member. I honestly didn't have any idea of what to buy but I found myself in the watch department. The sales lady, Maribel, helped us from the start. She was very helpful and had some good gift suggestions. She was also very patient. If you are ever in the watch department ask for Maribel. You will most certainly get excellent customer service! read more

It seems as though the fun loving days of toddler hood when I would terrorize my mother and hide in Macy's clothing racks are sadly over....Ah the good old days.. I have been coming to this Macy's since 1985, and boy has it changed...I actually kind of dread having to go to this store nowadays! First off the temperature in this joint is always set at like 80 I feel like I'm at my grandmas in the winter, in her 90 degree house eating hot soup and wearing an electric blanket!!! I'm always uncomfortable! Secondly, the dressing rooms are Gross! Always dirty and even smelly at times! The dressing room seems like a honeymoon suite though if you compared it to their bathrooms, sweet Jesus they are just awful! Also I feel like I can never find any decent clothes at this one, the clothes seem tragically out of style. Like who buys tor this place? Some of the stuff is really hideous... Pluses - Always a sale, always a coupon and I like MAC. ***I recently found out a secret- if you have a Macy's gift card that you are using but do not Have a Macy's account on a sales day they will still honor a coupon meant only for card holders! The store's got a good selection, but it's so big that it's hard to find anything. The arrows on the signs have misled me before and I'm sure they will again in the future. The clothing isn't arranged by size, so you have to mess up the entire pile and open up everything just to figure out if they have your size or not. When I went to buy pants, I had to wait at the register for a while because the cashier had to look up how much the pants cost, even though it had a tag on it that she had already scanned. Took at least 15 minutes and she didn't even apologize for the wait. Then I went to the in-store shoe department (Finish Line?) and the employee there didn't acknowledge my existence, so I had to reach out and ask her questions. I felt like I was bothering her, and she reacted that way too. This may sound petty, at first, but she even asked me to put back the shoes I had taken off a display to ask her about. I was taken aback that the employee would ask the customer to put a product back, especially when you don't know where it goes. It just felt awkward and like I wasn't valued as a customer. I work in customer service and I would never tell the customer to go put an item back. It's a shame the service was so bad, because I would've probably bought some sneakers from them due to the low prices, but I left because I didn't feel like a valued customer. The one thing I will say though, is that they're very good about not letting clothes people try on and don't want build up. read more

I walked into the Macys bridal salon anticipating a pleasant experience. Let's just say it was a far cry from pleasant. First I walk in for my 7:30pm appointment 5 minutes early and can't find a soul. I walked through 5 aisles of dresses trying to find an employee. I discovered my dress in a fitting. After one more cry for assistance someone finally came in. This middle aged woman started the interaction with a highly inappropriate comment about the bridal party. At this point I had to put my hair up because of the aggravation and heat (it was SWELTERING in the fitting room. The seamstress was clueless and the total cost of my alterations was $95. I'm absolutely disgusted with this experience. I work for Macys INC. and with experience I explain this is not a customer service friendly place. read more

The only reason for a 2 star review is because their sheer amount of product offerings sets them ahead of any other department store within Garden State Plaza. They may not carry many top-end designers, but their mid-level offerings are numerous. Their Hugo Boss section could be a little bigger, but they usually have half the section on sale anyway. The sales associates are usually non-existent until you need to purchase something. At that point, they're fighting for the "sale." I think Macy's should go with a self-checkout aisle at the Garden State location. I'm only speaking about the Men's department. I have no idea how service is provided in any other area of the store. I love walking around with multiple items in my hand, and someone asks if they can keep them behind the cash wrap. Is that salesmanship? Who trained you? Were you ever trained? I've worked several years in retail and that is what is known as the vulture technique. But I'm wise to the game. I always give the sale to the person that actually attempts to help me. The most annoying aspect of their customer service surfaces when you have to return an item. According to numerous associates, you must return the item in the section that it was purchased. This can get bothersome if you're in a hurry and are on one end of the department and have to walk all the way to the other end of the department to return the item. Wow. Shop online... read more

I love Macy's, but the bridal department here leaves little to be desired. Anna, one of the women who works in the Demetrios bridal department, is highly inefficient and rude. When I ordered my veil with here, she took an hour to place the order because she didn't know how to use their computer system. Then, when another rep went to offer help, she refused it. She took another hour to input my niece's flower girl gown. Then, I called over a month later to see when it was going to come in because I hadn't heard from them. They told me it would be two more weeks. The next day, they called me and said it was in. It made me wonder if it had been in all the while. When I did pick it up, I saw Anna again. She asked me to sign for it to verify it was in good condition. I told her I'd like to see it out of the bag just to check. She gave me an attitude and told me that if she took it out, she wouldn't be able to get it back in. How could I verify the condition if I couldn't take it out of the bag? I said I was sure that we could get it back in the bag, and she finally obliged. When she went to fold it back in, she rushed and barely tried to get it done neatly. I have been to 8 bridal salons in my search this year, and by far, this particular one has had the worst costumer service. Brides, I would go somewhere else if I were you. This place sucks, every time I come here its a mess, and I came to buy perfume, the woman treated me like a piece of meat She came near me and was like, if anyone asks I'm helping you, and runs off to finish working with another woman. Wen she's done with the other woman, she came over to me and was like oh are you planning on buying? And I said I was considering, she handed me a scented card and said, well if you make up your mind and come back, look for me and say I'm helping you, here's my name I was like, uh okay I never said I wasn't buying... I ended up getting the perfume reluctantly from her because she was awful. When I bought the perfume she was all fake and yelling at me "thank you sweetie" as I walked away from the counter. I repeatedly asked her if they do gift wrapping and she ignored me , completed the purchase, and handed me a huge drooping plastic bag with my $80 perfume bottle drooping at the bottom on it like a potato in a sack.. Yeah, forget a out the gift wrapping because this woman was already preoccupied with her new prey standing at the counter, so I just walked away with my perfume dragging behind me in this plastic sack. Having shopped at Macy's here and there all through my life and will continue to do so, this review is soley on their Registry Department and our experience yesterday. We met with a representative who was pleasant and helpful, but after speaking with other newly engageged friends, it became apparent that Macy's registering is basically "here's a scan gun & have fun", although this sounds like a good idea, this is an overwhleming process and could possibly be made easier if the store itself wasnt a complete disaster. I do not think this had anything to do with it being Memorial Day weekend as the store was relatively less crowded than a typical Saturday it was just chaos, messy and their overall organization of the store is in complete dissary with no rhyme or reason... After leaving her we went to Home store where we were helped through the entire process and had an incredible experince with someone who helped us the entire step of the way and had other associates who helped us too - there is no one in Macy's to help at all, let alone in the scattered deparments. I will say Macy's gives the bride and groom decent perks but we will keep our Macy's Registry only for secondary items as we have already re-registered elswhere.... Disappointing! read more

Just dropped $400+ for a suit that I bought it a week ago and just picked it up. The sales lady was helpful at the time of purchase. However, a guy who smelled like a chimney helped me with pick up. He definitely needed some attitude adjustment or get more cigarette breaks... Very rude and left me standing around at the suit department for 30 mins without telling me where he went for my suit. Basically, he took my pickup slip in silence and walked away. After approx half an hour, he screamed out my name from some staff door near the suit department. He sounded like he was annoyed- probably hated me for doing the work without getting a commission on the sale! No words were exchanged after hanging my purchase to me. A very weird experience! Not a pleasant experience (but memorable). I will only go back if they have good sales. read more

Totally biased right now cause it's holiday season. I usually go to Willowbrook but I like to go to gsp once in a while. This Macy's is great cause it has more brands than the one at willowbrook. They have Bobbi brown here! The shoe department was crowded as usual. Except this one guys never got my boots! I waited for a long time and then moved onto another nicer man! He helped me a lot. So I am on the hunt for furniture. Years ago I bought from Macy's and wanted to see if they had anything to my liking. So I had went to the Macy's in Willowbrook and that was a complete fail. And this experience was no different. So when I looked up the address it shows that the furniture gallery is located within the mall which it is not. After walking around for a while I could not find this. And what really pissed me off even more are the incompetent employees who work here. I finally found a rep and he was completely clueless on what I was saying even though I was speaking English and showed him on my phone where it shows that the gallery was located there. This Macy's is a madhouse, and that's understandable based on how much volume GSP gets in general, but they really need to be more organized. Almost every time I visit, no matter what time of day, there are clothes everywhere. It really deters you from wanting to shop because not everyone has the patience to dig through piles of merchandise. However, I will say that of all the locations this one has the best options for clothes. Once in a while you'll get lucky and find something nice without having to scavenge. The cashier that was ringing me up was named Kathy and she was in the area where there are men's dress shirts. We were both buying slippers. Me for a gift and my boyfriend for himself. She was so efficient. she brought up the computer coupons so I didn't have to search for all of my separate coupons which I did have with me. She just made it very easy. I saw a line of people and thought we would have to wait a long time on line but then I saw how quick she was going and I said to my boyfriend,"I don't think it's going to be long." I used to be a front end manager at a busy store and she was working very quickly and I knew the wait would not be long. So my other half said okay I guess we'll wait. She took so many people in 5 minutes that there was hardly any wait at all. And it wasn't like people only had one item. They had a lot of stuff but she was just really quick. On top of that she was very sweet. I was told her manager was Helen so I was looking for Helen to compliment her but when I walked around the floor people said they hadn't seen Helen in an hour or two so she may have left already. Tonight I've had the worst experience ever here. I was in the jewelry sectioning trying to shop for a ring when I asked Viola for some help. She looked at me and my mother as if she didn't expect us to buy but waste her time and responded "you're gonna buy?" I told her "Yes. Can i try this ring on?" She comes over to us and allows us to the try the ring.. long story short it wasn't shiny enough so I didn't get it. Later on, we come back in hopes to buy my niece a pair of earrings for Christmas. I said "excuse me" and she walked away pretending to not hear me. On the 4th time of trying i was fed up and got pretty loud this time with my "excuse me" comment. This time she turns around and I asked her to help me with pricing on a pair of Disney earrings. She comes over and says a ridiculous side comment "I'm never going to be able to pee". As if we needed to know that. With every question my mom asked her she responded sarcastically to my mom. Truly felt like this lady was 1. Unprofessional 2. Poor service and 3. RACIST. I did not see her get like that with anyone else except for me and my mother. Why? Cause we're 2 Hispanic women? I went to purchase a pair of converse sneakers. There was a employee on the floor asking certain people do they need help. He looked at my fiance and I and didn't ask us did we need any help. I felt some kind of way because I'm an African American women and the others he asked did they need help wasn't. I had to walk up to him and ask him for assistance. The other customers didn't have to do this. I even gave him eye contact like hello need help here. It took me to ask him first for assistance. I generally have a hard time finding a suit because I tend to need a " long" length and I'm on the cusp of having to shop at a Casual Male type store. Jerry really was very helpful in tracking down a suit that fit. He went and found my size in the stockroom and was helpful with checking the fit. He went over and helped me pick a shirt too. i would give zero stars if possible....I have NEVER had such horrible experience with customer service anywhere.. let alone at a place of business with a reputable name! My sister got a gash on her knee from the Estee Lauder's at the cashier's counter with 2 ladies working behind there. When she started to bleed and i started looking for some tissue or alcohol to help clean her wound NO ONE responded. I asked isn't there any tissues or alcohol to clean her up, none of the workers moved and one older lady pointed to the makeup counter behind us. Not one of the single worker offered to help. There was a 3rd lady who asked after i told my cousin, i am appalled by the lackadaisical attitude of these workers! I have never been so appalled but the blatant customer service or help! So even if you know exactly what you want you can't just breeze in and buy it. This review is for the Demetrios bridal salon, and in particular, one of their bridal consultants, Janice. Janice was extremely welcoming, polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. I brought my mother and one of my bridesmaids to my appointment, and she allowed them to browse the dresses with me as well as take photos. This was my first bridal salon appointment, so I had no idea what I wanted or looked good in. She was patient and allowed me to pull dress after dress. At no time during the 1.5 hours we were there did I feel rushed. With Janice's help we were finally able to pinpoint it down to 2 silhouettes that I both loved. I actually bought another dress somewhere else that I loved even more, but I would highly recommend asking for Janice if you are making an appointment. read more

Love the selection here. Staff is decent, but I can tell you as a previous employee that they particularly push the staff to open Macy's charge accounts. So don't be surprised if they brighten up when you say yes. You can snag a great bargain if you know where to look. Also, Debbie in ladies accessories is super nice. My wife and I had a good trip today. Got there on a Saturday night around 8PM and parking wasn't too bad. I would NOT recommend going on a Saturday afternoon as it will be crazy to find parking (unless you're an out of towner, you already know this.) I was looking for a TNF coat for my dad and found one. It didn't take long before a lady manager helped us and we were on our way. I also wanted to mention how cool it was that today Macys offered what they called the friends and family sales where they take 25% off things that normally don't discount (ie TNF and other designer brands.) I absolutely hate places like the Sports Authority or Dicks Sporting where their coupons work on like nothing I'm ever interested in. Also there was a time earlier last year when I needed something and a lady at a register actually helped me check the inventories of the local Macys. So yeah Ive been lucky with the service at this Macys. Retail work is hard. As a customer I always try to be kind and understanding. read more
