There's always something in Macy's that pops in your mind, the prices compared to other stores. Don't get me wrong, I've found a lot of decent selections, particularly in the men's department with it being big. Of course, sales and discounts will help significantly, and there is a decent amount to choose from the racks. During the weekday, it can be a challenge to find assistance compared to the weekends, typical in the retail world of course. All of the departments here are kept up stock-wise, but recovering could definitely be an improvement. No issues at this Macy's. read more

Don't shop at Macy's if you are a woman in a larger body. They are eliminating their plus size departments in many locations, including Poughkeepsie. It has been my go-to store for clothing for close to three decades but now I can't shop there anymore because they don't carry clothing in my size. Yet the petite section remains. There's a word for that...what is it...oh yes-discrimination. Macy's is openly discriminating against women in larger bodies. And their Backstage section is low quality, which is where I've been directed to shop, as well as online. But online shopping isn't the same. 35 years ago I went to Macy's to return 2 gifts that my boys received for Christmas. I didn't have a receipt and I was told they could only give me $0.01 for each item. I chose to give them away. Fast forward to now, I received 2 pairs of pajamas for Christmas but the size was too big. I went to Macy's with no receipt and I was told that they would only be able to give me $0.01 for each pair. I went to Macy's in Poughkeepsie NY to get something for my daughter's 9th birthday, we bought her a juicy couture sneakers from back stage when we got home the next day she told me that one of them could't fit, when my husband looked at it, it was two left foot and different sizes. when we tried to return them they wouldn't take them back and the clerk and manager were very rude, and claim that they don't deal with backstage. now we are stuck with sneakers that are totally useless, I will never shop at this store again. read more

Post-COVID review: I had to shop this weekend for a semi-formal event. The store rackets were not cluttered, cash registers were clean, and all workers wore masks. The fitting rooms were open and CLEAN! The racks were neat and orderly, pleasant to walk around without fighting through people. The woman at the cash register was very friendly. Excellent customer service in the Woman's Department (at the register.) I was buying 2 blazers that were on clearance. When I got up to the register I realized I left my coupons at home. I asked the cashier if I could bring my receipt back for a price adjustment but she saw I was paying with my Macy's acct and told me she would just give me the coupon. After she started to ring up my order she said she would give me a better coupon than what I have at home (which was 20% off)... She gave me the '$10 off a $30 purchase' coupon AND since I had 2 blazers over $30, she rang them in two separate transactions. So in total she saved me $20. Needless to say I was very grateful for what she did. I wish every store serviced their customers like this. read more

I was looking for specific types of items, such as men's clothing and kitchen stuff, and I noticed that the prices here were typically at least 30% higher than the other stores in the Galleria. So with their sales, discounts, coupons, etc... their prices approach those of the other stores. It always seemed to me that they are playing the game of letting you think you're getting a great discount by starting with an artificially high price? That's the bad news. The good news is that this is a well-stocked and well-maintained store. I like that they seem to have increased the amount of their own brands (Alfani and Club Room) in the men's clothing section lately, and those are always at more competitive prices. They do have a good kitchen/housewares section (though see the caveat above). They also have good cosmetics/fragrance areas for both men and women. But if you go there needing assistance, always try to get the actual Macy's employee working there and not some "spritz girl" there just to promote one scent. Catch her by mistake and it's usually, "I don't know, I'm only here to promote (insert fragrance here), I'll get someone." In general I'm satisfied with items I buy here, it's just that I usually only buy things here if I know it's a good deal or I can't get it anyplace else. read more

The women's plus size dept is geared toward senior women, only Karen Scott and chaps almost no INC and no other decent brands and the dept has maybe 10% of what misses dept has. The sizes were in the wrong spot and when I discovered some the jeans were so large for what they were marked I went to misses dept and discovered the clearance section of plus size in the misses dept.-huh? This store is mainly the cheapest of all Macy's selection of designers meaning nothing good. I'm surprised they're still in business. The depts were a mess nothing was sized in order anywhere and the few employees that do exist were chatting instead of working. The one positive was the cashier who was very professional, talkative and told me the buyer for Danbury store is better. read more

This review is for the shiseido counter not the entire store & if I could give zero stars I would . I went into Macy's to get color matched for the Shiseido Synchro Skin Lasting foundation as I am not familiar with the product but wanted to buy it as I heard many great things about it . I've been in customer service for a long time having been in the makeup industry , the restaurant business etc so I know the right way & the wrong way to deal with people and potential customers this woman did everything wrong She acted like I was annoying her , she never asked me my name , introduced herself , asked me my skin type! That is the most important thing if your trying to sell a high end foundation asked me nothing At all , I explained I was wavering between a few colors in the foundation and she simply pulled out the one color offered on the sample card on the counter put in on my face said it's a match ( didn't show me in a mirror) and handed me 2 samples and then asked me if I was wearing makeup - seriously u need to get into a new line of work!! This experience was so horrible that I simply left annoyed & disappointed at what could have been a nice experience and I didn't not purchase the foundation nor will I from this store as god only knows if it was the right color for my skin! This review is specifically for the handbags section of the store. I haven't shopped in the other parts of this place in a while so I can't speak for how they are in the last 3-4 years, but I made a purchase recently in this department and I was dissatisfied with the service I received from the staff. I will start out with saying I've lived in Poughkeepsie for the majority of my life, and I have been coming to Macy's (used to be Filene's) pretty much all my life so they have had my business for a long time. I came to the handbag section looking for a wallet/purse, and a sales associate helped me locate a pretty perfect one and clued me in on a discount coming up the next week -- she was great, and her selection was extremely helpful and I ended up coming back later in the week to reserve the item. It was the second visit that was unsatisfactory. I had a different sales associate named Linda who was highly brusque and rude when I asked to see the same item, even though I had the barcode and model name ready, and when I asked if I could reserve it (I was repeatedly asked "so you're saying you want to pre-sale it" as if I didn't know English, without explaining the actual terms and conditions of pre-sale until I actually asked her to explain what this entails so I can actually decide whether I want to do that or not). All the terms and conditions of whatever "pre-sale" was defined as was explained very impatiently, even though there was nobody else to be waiting on and it was a slow time of a weekday. When my mother asked a question about the discount, we were met with a very unfriendly attitude and a lack of patience for understanding her English, which is slower but absolutely no reason to give us less than satisfactory customer service. Instead of being happy with my new purchase, I'm just annoyed that someone talked to my mother that way when we're here spending our hard-earned money and giving our business. Honestly, if I wasn't standing there already and wasting time getting steamed at this place, I wouldn't have paid to make an expensive purchase with this sales associate to add to her selling record -- the same item was also offered at the same discount with multiple other vendors online, so the deal was not really unique aside from being on at the right time. I was in Poughkeepsie for several hours for work on a Saturday... A Saturday! Normally I do everything in my power to completely avoid doing anything on these days; let alone work! BUT... As they say, they "made me an offer I couldn't refuse." Money - they gave me money. This Macy's was kept up very well, clean floors and shelves with a friendly and attentive staff! If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and get your swag on (ugh.... did I really just say that? Let's attribute that to lack of sleep shall we?) It is a pretty big Macy's, although considerably smaller than the NYC Macy's at Herald Square (pretty much my candyland!) but there are some good deals here especially if you like to shop out of season instead of paying ridiculous prices where they double and even triple prices in anticipation of the season. One thing I especially liked about this Macy's particularly was their wide assortment of bow ties! Yes... I LOVE bow ties! Okay - I'm a nerd... So what!? You can grab these beauties for an average price of 9.99 - 30.00$. I think I am accumulating more bow ties than I have shirts to wear them with! The holy grail of bow ties for me would be one that spins and shoots water... But these are (obviously) too awesome to be at every Tom, Dick & Harry's clothing store. Anyhue... This location is inside of a large indoor shopping mall, with plenty of great options (chocolate stores, food court - with a Taco Bell!!!, JC Pennys, Old Navy, etc) so you can burn calories and quickly replenish with a tasty crepe w/marshmallow combo. This is for the women's perfume section! Horrible customer service I've ever seen. The sales rep was rude and obnoxious who treated my mom and myself as if we were bothering her because we asked her questions and asked her to show us the tote bag that came with the perfumes! I was looking at spending $200 for a Michael Kors perfume set and instead walked out without spending a dime and went to JcPenney instead and bought the perfume set I wanted from there. I LOVE this store! Generally the customer service has been supreme at Macy's~in every dept. in my experience. Most of the time, if I don't have my coupons on hand, the cashier has one so I can use it. Top notch employees overall :-) I guess the only "complaint" I wld have is sometimes when I've paid my bill there, their register doesn't put it thru properly, so thank God had my cash on hand to pay, so I wouldn't be late! This has happened 3x out of dozens of times. But what r ya gonna do? Registers/computers have a mind of their own sometimes! This review is for the management at the Macy's in the Poughkeepsie Galleria Mall that has decided that it's ok to stop caring about their customers st 9:30PM. On Saturday January 27 at approximately 9:25PM my niece and I entered Macy's on the upper level in the Poughkeepsie Galleria mall. When we entered there was an employee near the door on her phone. We were under the impression that Macy's closed at 10:00 PM. When we arrived in the Perfume section on the first floor the registers were closed. I was moving somewhat slow just recovering. At 9:30 PM the store announced closed to my shock and that we could only exit from the shoe department on the first floor. I explained that my car was upstairs so I needed to exit from there. My mobility was more limited than normal and I tried to explain this to the staff but I was told It was a security risk. This should have been the message provided by the young lady who was posted near the door upstairs but on her phone. After asking several people for help getting out upstairs and being told no, I asked how to get to my car. I was told that someone in the shoe department would be able to provide directions. When I asked the Shoe Department they told me they had no idea, just go left. After this customer service-less I had no choice but to go out the shoe department left. It was a safety hazard. Poorly lit and pretty deserted. We reached an area where we could walk in the road and risked being hit since it was dark and we had on dark coats, or walk on a grassy area with an incline. We chose to avoid being hit; however when I stepped on the grassy area, the ground was sopping wet and I fell! You can see where my pants are soiled from falling. I had boots on but the grounds were hazardous and was obviously injured. You folks send people out to the left to go upstairs with no interest in safety or security of your customers!! I went shopping at Macy's, in there lingerie department and there was a rack with a bunch of pretty lacy pajamas. After trying several on I was going to purchase three of them. The sign on the rack it said 25% off. They rang up full price at the register. When I told the girl I saw the sign for 25% off she said that I was mistaken and that it did not have a discount. I bought her over to the rack to show her the discounted price that was displayed. She said that did not stand for the items that I was purchasing but it was only for the one little section of the rack. I said that it doesn't state that on the sign, she said that's not how we do it and we don't need to state it on the sign. I told her her attitude was very poor. She said wow really, and then continued to say that's too bad. I asked her to call the store manager over and she called over the department manager. The department manager was just as rude and told me that I was wrong and that the sign does not go for the pajamas that I wanted. I told her this sign is very misleading and that it should not be up there. She said there's nothing she could do and the price is marked as is. I have never had a problem at Macy's honoring a price. If this is the people that you have working for you after I spent a lot of money in the store, I'll bring my business to a different store. Shame on you store associate Simone , and the department manager shakeeha ... your displeasing rude tone and loud voice that powered over mine to prove a point in front of the other consumers is beyond acceptable! Online order pickup major failure. Never Recieved an email or text that a watch was ready. Thry claim it should be under 4 hours... i waited 6 hours and then went to the Poughkeepsie Galleria Macys. They have an "online order pickup desk" with no employees... I waited 10 minutes and couldn't find an employee to help me..., then you go into the "executive office" where your told to go to "girls" department where you wait in line only to find out they can't help you without a pickup # - that i should have received by text . So I went to the watch department and they told me the they didn't have that watch in stock.... really because I ordered it. Then they found one that was a return and has clearly been used for a week or two... she tells me to make sure it works.... REALLY, MAKE SURE IT WORKS?!? That's your job. Anyhow, I had to leave the store and will deal with it over the phone. Bottom line - your better off ordering online for delivery, these stores will irritate you to no end.... They have a lot of work to do with online order pickup and staff training... And corporate logistics to make this system worth it... let's say they actually had the watch... I could have went to that department, waited in line for 45 minutes and still been out quicker than I was today. Why do I like online order delivery? Because I'm easy, don't have stupid questions or problems and dont have time or patience to wait behind people that do. I like to be in and out within a minute or two... and Macy's wasted an hour of my time. Your playing games with people's time. Want to learn about a good online ordering system, check out how Home Depot does it. I can place an order on my smartphone and it's ready within 30 minutes at the front door online order pickup, that was my expectation here and you guys blew it miserably. read more
